Dead By Sunrise Tokyo 27.01.10 Setlist
Xero21 replied to Alexonlyalex's topic in Previous Show Discussion
Awesome that they played Into You finally. As for Give Me Your Name, I don't know that they'll play it. It just seems like a song that is dedicated to his wife, and not really something he'd perform live to a bunch of fans. -
I hadn't seen it there either.
-
Did they take the video down?
-
Knowing LP, they are never ones to limit themselves like that, to feel like a song HAS to have guitar and drums in it. Electronica is making a big comeback recently, and as I'm a pretty big fan, this is great for me. but there is a basic sound to LP that I'm sure won't be lost with the new album.
-
LP's weakest point is without a doubt lyrics, I'll be with you on that one, save for the occasional exception. And as we can see in the post above me, they rewrote the song in a very quick amount of time, so there you go. Though Mike's quotes about how it was a scrapped demo still don't confirm whether or not that means Not Alone was a MtM b-side or a 4th Album demo. I think it was a 4th album demo, as Mike probably would have said it was a b-side if it was.
-
Musically though, I think it falls right in line with what little description the band has given us thus-far of the new album. More beat-driven, drum machine/keyboard-feel. Right on with this song.
-
Facebook confirms Mike is rescheduled for tomorrow.
-
While this song is more "poppy" than Hybrid Theory or Meteora, I wouldn't say it's a pop song at all. This is electronica/alternative. Which generally is softer music. And I'm pretty sure that's how the new album is going to be too. Which for me is probably the best thing ever. I love synthy music.
-
It's gotta be an entirely new song, not a b-side. The lyrics are clearly about people who have been through some sort of disaster, and with the whole electronic loop/keyboard feel of the music, there's no doubt in my mind this is a song that was made recently.

U2, Jay-Z, Swizz Beatz record new track for Haiti relief.

Mwahahaha. Told you peoples. -
This song is fantastic. Not sure what else to say.
-
I know this may not be directly LP related, but with Phoenix's tweet to John Mayer mentioning contributing a song for Haiti relief, maybe this could give us an idea about what he meant. http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.1045...-u2-kosha-dillz So for those thinking LP might just throw The Little Things Give You Away (which was written about a completely different event ) on some compilation album, I don't know, but it seems like artists are coming together to do something new in response to the disaster.

vicje66: @phoenixlp new song soon??? phoenixlp: Sooner than you could imagine! Think Tuesday... Normally Phoenix just screws around on Twitter but maybe the game will come out tomorrow? I wouldn't get my hopes up but thought it might be worth mentioning.

If they're waiting for the right time, they missed it. The DBS album was out in October. Those who are buying it, have more than likely gotten it. There's about to be a ton of Linkin Park promo and touring done, so when are they going to start promoting Dead By Sunrise? 2 years after the album is out? Whoever was in charge of promoting DBS dropped the ball HARD.
-
I'm going with New Divide. Personally I don't like Across The Line. Lyrics are eh, very pop sound too. Though as far as the pop goes New Divide isn't much better.
-
Yep. I was about to post this myself. Mike always said mikeshinoda.com and linkinpark.com were both going to be redone so that must be it.
-
Also, one of the harmonies in Into You is really high too. On the word "fall."
-
Awesome news that we'll be getting Killing Fields. I really like Julien-K. I hope they continue working on that new music and put out a new album soon.
-
While I want to say the new song will be a MtM b-side, part of me is starting to feel like it might be the lead single off the album. o.O Only reason I say this is because recently I've noticed singles coming out way in advance of albums being released. Also that thing iTunes has been doing where like 5 singles get released in succession leading up to the album release. I dunno, singles have just become a completely different game lately because of the popularity of online music sources and the decline of radio and music video stations. Something to think about maybe. Or not. /random thought.

I dunno that I'd be THAT harsh but Chester isn't leaving LP. The people who are thinking that just aren't seeing the big picture. Option A: A band you've been in for a decade, has had huge success, TONS of fans, a unique sound, able to put on HUGE shows anywhere in the world. Option B: Small new band, very little interest, typical "garage band" rock sound, opening for Paramore. Yeah. LP isn't going anywhere.
-
Also, how does Morning After have any traces of nu-metal in it..?
-
I don't have a link but Chester has said plenty of times that he dislikes One Step Closer. One quote I remember, went something like "you listen to a beautiful song like Crawling, and compare it to a song like One Step Closer..." he said it in like a "One Step Closer is just a silly 'rock out' song" way. He definitely doesn't consider it among the band's best work at the very least.
-
I'm not really sure what to make of all this. For one thing, Chester did go back and say "not forced" because he probably knew how strong that sounded. Like LP was some burden. I don't think he really feels forced as in "oh my god Ryan, I wish I could work on these new DBS songs but MIKE says we have to go on tour." or something like that. I think he meant "limited" rather than "forced," meaning his work on DBS is limited to when LP has some down time. Had he used the word limited it would have come across a lot better. I don't want to make a big deal out of it though. We love hanging on to the band's quotes and causing a huge commotion out of what is usually nothing (see: "genre-busting," Mike "hints" about what LPU8 would be, "Fort Minor energy," etc.) Hence why Mike decided not to give us the demo names. I think Dead By Sunrise is just Chester's opportunity to be the boss like a traditional "lead singer" would be. I honestly think DBS might make maybe 1 more album, and that's it. It'll fizzle out.
-
DBS just doesn't seem to have Warner's support. Also, I agree with Preston in that I really don't see why Chester thinks he couldn't go to his very successful real band of years with some songs that were personal to him. I mean, Chester has mentioned a few times that he loves the lyrics to Let Down and didn't want them changed. If he went to LP and said "look, this song means a lot to me, it's really personal, can we not change the lyrics?" Would LP really have said no? I'm not sure. And it's not like all the songs on the album are all that more personal than LP. Chester said in an interview that he sat down and wrote the heavy part of the album (CBI, Condemned, Inside Of Me) basically in one night. To me that sounds like writing music just to fill up an album. I guess if Chester means the songs are more personal in that *he wrote them all by himself*, then sure that's great. Congrats. Let's get back to LP now.

New 8-Bit Rebellion song called "Ten Minutes To Midnight"?
Xero21 replied to BNCMajor's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I couldn't care less about the title. I just want to hear it.
