  1. I've been trying to track down an inexpensive MPC myself for a few months now. If anyone has any help/suggestions I'd appreciate it.
  2. Doesn't this version of Stick And Move have to at least have Chester on vocals?
  3. How is Rob in chats? I don't think I've ever been able to catch one of his.
  4. I'm pretty sure they had been planning something besides a CD for the concept album. Some of the quotes they gave seemed to hint at it.
  5. Plus the rest of the band can work while he's away, and Mike can scat vocals, so when Chester comes back it's just like let's finalize these vocals, mix, and fucking go. This album has some quiet yet major hype around it. Love that shit.
  6. I'm glad Chester isn't just assuming a song is going to be for DBS and withholding it from LP. That'll make sure LP stays the #1 priority as it should be.
  7. You know actually, in the past year, it seems like LP may not need Chester to be doing much at this point in time in regards to making the new album. It seems like Mike writes/produces/does a lot of the dirty work, scats the vocal melodies, and then Chester comes in and replaces the scatting with singing when it's time. From the work aspect, it seems all LP may be missing right now is Chester's input, which in the end only sucks for Chester. Though from a good buddy stand-point, they won't release the new LP until DBS has done its fair share of touring and such. And as far as the other members of LP being clean, yeah they are. And I like that, though we don't know for sure what they're into. I mean some of it is probably good natured stuff, like Mike drinking. It's legal and he's a grown man. I just want these guys to be around for a long time, I'm real glad Chester has sobered up.
  8. I went on a cruise in 2002 (I was 8 ) and they were letting people rent out these cool new things called **iPods**. So I rented one out and was browsing through the music when I came across a band called "Linkin Park" and decided to see what that was all about. The album was Hybrid Theory. I listened to the first song, Papercut. And the rest is history.
  9. Whoever made that has too much time on their hands, and is pretty misinformed/taking what the band has stated the wrong way.
  10. Soft doesn't mean pop
  11. I really hope it is 6SS (it's catchin on Mark). From what little snippet we have, which isn't much mind you, it sounds like a very un-pop song. Quiet and dark. Like an Anti-New Divide.
  12. Because if they got to the point where they had an orchestra come in to record the string parts, we can pretty much assume that the song was finished if it got to that point.
  13. When LP was recording MtM, they had a live orchestra come into the studio to do the string parts (violins, cello, stuff like that). They had the orchestra contribute to 6 songs. Only 5 made the album. The 6th one was played for about 5 seconds in the MtM DVD showing some dude standing there recording it. I think someone posted a link a few posts ago.
  14. 6th string song! I'm calling it! And an LP song that Mike describes as having a bit of a Postal Service feel? That's effing awesome. New album is definitely more synthy. More synth, and 4 part vocal harmonies? Sounds like DBS may be influencing a bit.
  15. I'm not sure how any of those things are sellouts. DBS/FM were other outlets for musicians to get a different kind of music out. "Not in privacy"? These people are professional musicians, selling their music is kind of their job. They have fans that want to hear it. I dunno if you've ever made music, but you want to share it with people when you do. (at least I do) And unless you are psychic, how can you say for sure that LP changed their sound because they wanted more money? Hybrid Theory sold an extreme amount of records, if it ain't broke don't fix it. If they wanted to sell a bunch they could have continued making the same music, a ton of angsty, "hardcore" kids would have eaten the shit up.
  16. Not all the good music in the world is filled with a bunch of energy. That shouldn't be someone's measuring stick for what makes a good album. The fact that these reviewers used Linkin Park's in-your-face sound to put down DBS shows how pre-biased they were while listening to DBS. It isn't supposed to be anything like LP, yet all they are doing is comparing apples to oranges. Dead By Sunrise is more of a pop/alternative rock band that can do some heavy stuff, but seeing as how most of these songs started acoustically, why would anyone be surprised that it isn't as aggressive as LP?
  17. I saw this. Emo is really sort of a generic term now-a-days to describe angsty lyrics. I kind of see where the NY times guy is coming from when he says the lyrics are a bit generic, but Jody Rosen seems to have missed the point completely. She says DBS doesn't have the LP sound. Well that's kind of the fucking point.
  18. Maybe DBS is gonna do an iTunes EP with the cover/acoustic versions. Either way Chester seems very confident we WILL be getting them so it's only a matter of time really.
  19. Not necessarily. If they hadn't been informed of what they'd have to do before hand, then maybe they just didn't want to disappoint the fans that had paid to see them perform by backing out, as it was only one song anyway. If that's the case then great move by DBS. I dislike the fact that they used a backing track but it was just for this event so it doesn't really matter.
  20. No one has confirmed either way but I would guess it's a recently recorded song. That just seems to be LP's style with this sort of stuff. Kinda like Mike in the LPU chat saying "why re-record Xero songs? wouldn't you rather have new music?" They're always moving forward. But you never know.
  21. Maybe the band doesn't keep the unused stuff, but Warner does? Though they did say they straight up got rid of the Meteora demos. Interesting.
  22. I'd bet it's something from the new album process. Just a guess though.
  23. I am. And I found it. And I must say it again, holyyyyy shit. December. Now. EDIT: and lol at LP playing golf on stage during another band's set.
  24. Holy shit. Demos of HT, Meteora, and MTM songs, AND a new song??? FUCK.
  25. They're being emailed right? Still haven't gotten mine yet.
