Strange show.

LP were so quiet from where i was sat, almost every other band at download were louder.

Ive just got back from download today, and im struggling what to make of the show. It wasnt bad by any means, i just thought it could have been more than what was, a little tighter.

home now, can post without masses of spelling mistakes.

Got a shoutout from Mike after In The End. Myself and another guy who also has Chester's flames got called out from Mike haha.

I wondered if that would be anyone from LPL, awesome man!

hahaa nice! part of me wondered if Geki had made the trip

personally, was great to finally see some post-'09 songs live, it's been a long time coming! wasn't too far forward (quite a way behind the 2nd barrier) but I did get to see a guy dressed as Jesus losing his shit to BIO, so there's that..

one thing that I felt about the show was that I think Mike was really struck by what Hybrid Theory, this day, his band kind of meant to people: the flame tattoos, the fact that Oli Sykes had pretty much based his decision to start a band on the basis of LP's 2001 Manc show, and were now only 2 spots beneath them on the bill?

his face the whole way through the HT section was this total look of "holy shit!", it was so great.

very few people (around me at least) knew the new stuff, but that's to be expected if you hadn't been consciously keeping up with the leaks.

I was right down the front for Hybrid Theory, then ended up moving back a bit for the rest of the set to prevent being completely exhausted by the end. One bizarre thing I noticed was that the people around me really got into the Apaches intro to WFTE, more so than the actual song

No wonder he wanted to start a band after that show I was at the same show and it was crazy

Can anybody point me to where the audio is at? I don't know where the audio section is on this site

It's the third subforum down, the "Download/Requests & Media" forums!

EDIT: I just listened to the Hybrid Theory portion of the show, holy crap the band is on fire. They really have to keep some of these older songs in the set. PMA is the only song ever where Brad actually seems excited to be performing. By Myself and APFMH exploded, and Forgotten was also great.

By the way, should we add "Short Scratch Intro" to Forgotten?

"@DownloadFest

Highlights of Download 2014 will be shown on @SkyArts in two parts on the 4th & 5th July at 9pm, both 2.5 hours long! #DL2014"

They will definitely show some LP. Hoping for a better song selection this time. Last time they showed something like Iridescent, WFTE and OSC haha

Listening to the show right now, and I'm sorry, but anyone who says the crowd was "epic" is obviously letting their memory of being at the show and enjoying themselves make it seem better than it was. Crowd is dead silent between songs, the band basically got a fucking golf clap after Forgotten, numerous points during songs where the crowd can't be heard at all, people not even blowing up big when the intros to Papercut, OSC, ITE etc. start like they do at basically any other venue. Only appropriately-big reactions for a headliner at a festival of this size were on Crawling and Numb. It literally sounds like a crowd for an opening band, like LP was playing before Metallica again or something. Listening to the ITE bridge again, sounds like there are like 20 people singing total lol.

Band performed very well, particularly impressed with how well the HT songs went for the most part. Only big hiccup was Chester missing the first line of Forgotten. Mike blanked on the lyrics to the second verse of By Myself for like 2 seconds and recovered, but that's nothing.

I will agree with Astat. I listened to the full show today and also watched all of the videos Garo uploaded. The crowd isn't blowing up at all besides the VERY front. I'm not sure what the deal was but if this was at Rock am Ring I guarantee there'd be a much better reception. They weren't loud.

They did a good job on the Hybrid Theory songs. In particular, the samples on Runaway seemed a lot louder and sounded great. Astat were those there in 2012? The bass was rolling on that song too....I was very impressed By Myself came off well. In all, the songs sounded very good. The band seemed nervous or they were paying close attention to how they were performing on Forgotten and Pushing Me Away, but besides that, I liked how the songs sounded. lol @ Brad coming in too early on PMA intro. Since when has APFMH started with Rob in this way?

Chester's comment on the rarer songs maybe sticking around was good to see on Twitter. I guess I can understand now why they don't play all of these tracks anymore, though. They seem WAY more into Burn It Down, etc than some of these tracks and I guess that's understandable from their perspective.

On Carnivores I hope to see APFMH and Runaway. Runaway won't be around sadly (even though Download's performance sounded amazing)...so maybe we'll get By Myself and Cure For The Itch. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The rest of the set sounded excellent besides Joe fucking up the New Divide intro. Is there a reason why they couldn't do Lost In The Echo full there at the end?

Your hundred percent spot on. The crowd was quiet, save for the front. When they did the singalong parts, i couldn't hear anything. It was lacking something live. I cant put my finger on it, but it wasn't LP at its best. Im still happy and it was a great show, but not as good as it could have been.

What are you talking about? The crowd was fucking insane. I was there and when LP came to the stage the crowd went nuts. Everybody around me was singing along and jumping, even the ones who weren't Linkin Park fans but knew the old songs anyway. I was pushed around from one spot to another all the time. After the Hybrid Theory songs were over, the crowd calmed down just a little bit, cause some people didn't know the new songs so well but sang along the chorus anyway. I agree that between the songs the crowd wasn't so loud, but during the songs, specially on the HT songs, the crowd was just epic.
I've been to two LP shows before and one of them was LP only and even there the people weren't so loud.
It's one thing to draw conclusions from the audio and video, but if you were there, you'd know what I'm talking about.

You must be just referring to the front, which yes, people are rocking. Listen to the show/watch the show and you'll hear silence between the songs (people barely cheering), place not blowing up, etc. The audio is very surprising and it was recorded inside the FRONT section too, wow.

I was in the back sections (the M&G didn't end till 10 minutes before the show!) and the crowd was crazy for Hybrid Theory! I was surrounded by casual fans all excitedly chattering about how old they were when it came out and they were all singing very loudly throughout. There was a definite change when HT ended and they all became more subdued.

I noticed this too. most seemed to be expecting alot more Meteora.
