I'm pretty sure we're all aware that it doesn't make a difference when the song was made. Is no one allowed to post about how weird it is that Mike says it wasn't a b-side when it clearly was? I don't think anyone is complaining about it, it's just a weird fact to point out and discuss. I think we can determine that the reason he says it is not a b-side is because Linkin Park considers anything never heard before "new" (which I also agree with), and he might not even remember that the clip of Blackbirds is in the MtM DVD. He also has taken a step back and instead of saying it is a "brand new" song, he is saying it is a song that was "finished exclusively for the game," which is 100% accurate.

It was never meant for the new album because it was a MTM bside. This song is is no way any indication of what the new album will or wont be. How are people still not seeing that Blackbirds is the 6SS? XD Unless you thought they were going to use an old album b-side for a new album, which I guess they always could. Now that I think about it, didn't Mike mention something about maybe doing that?

What LP Song can you relate the most to and why?
Xero21 replied to Tomer's topic in Everything Linkin Park
Most of LP's songs are really relatable because of the generalized lyrics. -
Uh, sorry but what you just described IS selling out. "We're the fans and we want you to make the music we want you to make!" ^^^^ If they oblige to that, then they just cut their own nuts off as you might put it. They would be giving up their artistic credibility. Making a song to bang your head to, for the sake of making a song to bang your head to, would make LP a bunch of little carbon-copy, formulaic robots who just throw the same shit out there over and over, as opposed to being true artists. So yes, you are asking them to sell out.

This. It seems like sometimes LP fans will be satisfied with anything as long as there is screaming, no matter the lyrics or song structure.

This song is better than Across The Line. Yeah I said it.

I shiver and shake through warm or cold I'm alone, on my own In every mistake I dig this hole through my skin and bones it's harder starting over than never to have changed. With blackbirds following me I'm digging out my grave they close in, swallowing me the pain it comes in waves I'm getting back what I gave I sweat through the sheet as daylight fades as I waste away they trapped me inside mistakes I made thats the price I paid its harder starting over than never to have changed With blackbirds following me I'm digging out my grave they close in, swallowing me the pain it comes in waves I'm getting back what I gave I drop to the floor like I did before Stop ----------------------- and I can't be more What I want and what I need are a constant war Like a well full of poison, -------------------- The blood goes thin, the fever stings and I shake from the hell that the habits bring lay the sick ones down, the bells will ring put pennies on the eyes let the dead men sing. With blackbirds following me I'm digging out my grave they close in, swallowing me the pain it comes in waves I'm getting back what I gave I'm getting back what I gave I'm getting back what I gave Not much can be made out of what the intro is, it's too distorted. We'll have to wait until we can hear better quality.

Blackbirds destroys the bland lyrics and annoying pop melody of ATL! Juuuust sayin. Not that "It's your time" over and over isn't teh coolness or anything. He does scream it after all
-
Psh the lyrics I posted in the Blackbirds lyrics thread are better.
-
I doubt it gets radio play but I don't doubt they play it live.

The rap parts are pretty difficult with the current song quality so we'll have to wait for a good portion of those lyrics. Edit - Here's my attempt: I drop to the floor like I did before Stop ----------------------- and I can't be more What I want and what I need are a constant war Like a well full of poison, -------------------- The blood goes thin, the fever stings and I shake from the hell that the habits bring lay the sick ones down, the bells will ring put pennies on the eyes let the dead men sing.

Thank you. You are awesome and you win the interwebs for one day. If I were to receive a certain PM, maybe you could win the interwebs for two days...
-
Quick question, how do we know that the US will have 8 Bit around 11 pm? Is that an educated guess or what?
-
There is no great chance. It IS the 6SS. And I still say that Blackbirds has a pretty fair chance of being played live. I said it before and I still feel that way.
-
I hope they continue to experiment with new intros to songs.
-
People always suggest this but it isn't that easy. I think something like that would sound awkward. Plus the DBS song would have to be in the same key as the LP song, unless Chester sang it different. Improvising "mash-ups" like that doesn't work nearly as well for singing, with rapping you can just rap it and it's fine.
-
I dunno if this would happen. Mike can just rap over LP songs, which means he isn't actually adding to the set. The rest of the band goes about their business. Chester would have to use a slot in the set to perform something, so for that reason I don't see it happening.

The annual LP in South America rumor eh?
-
Definitely. This song is clearly the 6SS. And I also agree with you on the point that LP will call anything that hasn't been released yet "brand new," even if it was recorded years ago. I actually sort of agree with them on that, because it's "new" to us as fans. What I did not understand is why Mike, when specifically asked if it was recorded during the MtM sessions, did not say that it was when it clearly was. It's not like it's a big deal, doesn't ruin the song or anything, I just wonder what made him say that.
-
It definitely is. Same melody and beat and cello.
-
That would be extremely nit-picky of Mike. He didn't say Not Alone was brand new, he was very forthright about the fact that it was a MtM demo that they completed later on. Why would he not do that now?
-
That's really weird. Mike was specifically asked if the song was recorded during the MtM sessions or if it was all new, and he said all new. But we already know it was for sure recorded during the MtM sessions. o.O It's a "brand new" song, but the question was if the song was recording during MtM and the answer to that should have been yes.

its the last one.

Awesome stuff. Clips of specific songs and some explanations of how they came together and some playing from Ryan and Amir.
