Reflectionist
Here's my transcription of Slip: In the center of the silence Violent thoughts are thrown through / the thick smoke As flickering lights brighten the room All the things that you wanted to say get lost and thrown away. You debate and hesitate to speak your mind Can't turn back once you cross the line Sometimes, there's someone you know who just doesn't care Who has to see you go to know you were there. This is the sun behind the rain Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute May have begun to run an endless race But I never look back when I begin it. I know that this is the sun behind the rain Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute May have begun to run an endless race But I never look back when I begin it. I know all of this will soon be gone You don't really have to prove them wrong. Sometimes, you've got no control of where you go. Taken down a road you don't know / and you feel So lost you want to hide your face And you don't recognize the place you're in. Sometimes, the sun doesn't shine your way. Sometimes, the night doesn't turn to day. But sometimes, the light's so bright It burns through the night and keeps the darkness at bay Either way, This is the sun behind the rain Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute May have begun to run an endless race But I never look back when I begin it. I know that this is the sun behind the rain Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute May have begun to run an endless race But I never look back when I begin it. I know all of this will soon be gone You don't really have to prove them wrong. I know soon enough you'll make them see. You'll be far away from them with me. Follow the link in the chain without a name Seal the light, the dark contains remains. Taken away from the place you've been trapped. Break all you know to bring it all back. This is the sun behind the rain Even if sometimes I feel I can't stand another minute May have begun to run an endless race But I never look back when I begin it. 1996_LP
if its allowed can anyone post the pdf's of the artwork and booklet of the cd? It probably isnt, but post it anyway! I cant wait to hear this CD! What other band releases a full album this time of year full of demos & b-sides? where really lucky I have to say. Plus, I'm also looking forward to reading Mike's track by track commentary. Hopefully someone transcribes that if possible. Oh and Astat's analysis is always enlightening too! lerr
Is this still happening? Ughhhh, dying here. I purchased the monthly membership to upgrade and I cannot stay logged in - it keeps telling me 'Welcome back! Let your friends know you signed in!' after I login - I click any of the links and then I get redirected to 'Membership Required'. So irritated, I want to hear these demos. danielpsoad-09
Awesome! I really liked the new website, and the new LPU package As for the CD, I think we all should be satisfied. Once again we got unreleased/rare music from the band. My favorite songs are "Slip" and "Blue". I love how fresh those songs sound compared to their old music from the HT era. "Broken Foot" sounds great too. It reminded me a bit to A.06, and I feel it could've been a great song with some rapping and screaming. Chesterchaz
No no, nothing remastered. According to the booklet this appears to be the first demo of the song. So every other In The End demo appears to be newer. They seem to slightly "remaster" every song/demo before it's going onto a LPU CD. I'm sure they amplify/hard-limit the songs before, kinda makes sense of course (as they will 'sound' better afterwards). Here's the waveform of In The End compared to the old demos we have: Untitled from the 1999 & 2000 Demo CDs we have In The End on this CD I'd say we can assume that no demo (at least not the old ones) we find on new LPU CDs are exactly "the same" as Mike finds them his closet/wherever, they're not 'untouched'. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing, as a CD with every track mastered the same way/same volume level is much more enjoyable. For the collector it would be nice to have the 'unmastered' versions too, of course^^ Just hope the original files they played with were actually lossless, as previous LPU CDs seemed to be made out of lossy files. We'll see. Great CD!
Reflectionist
^ It's probably a combination of the band having the original files in high quality and us ripping CDs to 192kbps because we thought it was pretty good back in the early 2000s and nobody had a computer or an internet fast enough to bother with anything better than that. I mean, now we've all got 3G, wi-fi, but back then, the best anyone had was dial-up. Fuck me running if you think I'm alright with uploading / downloading a lossless track on dial-up. No sir. lakersfan13
The CD seems cool, but what I'm most excited about is the "early entry" thing. Hopefully one more tour next year?

Nameless
Hi everyone! Just a couple of questions. Is normal that: Phx drops a couple of bass notes from nowhere during the end of In The End? (3'39'') A brutally final cut in "Yo" (-0:03) Sorry if this already got an answer, too lazy to browse all the other 10 pages Edited November 16, 2011 by Nameless
Jats
Fuck yeah! This is awesome news, I can't wait to buy my first LPU Membership in the next days. The setlist looks awesome so far and I like the t-shirt and all the stuff .. I hope for a very special LPU year. lerr
Pretty sure you can pay wit Pay-Pal for your membership right on the LPU site. If anyone would like to help - I know it's far fetched, but i'm willing to Paypal someone $70 to help me sign up for the $61 (with CD) package? I don't have a bank account hooked up to my Paypal so I can't do the E-Check, nor do I have a credit card, but I do have it in my Paypal balance (but you can't use that for LPU!) PM me if possible. This is the best package I've seen - EVER. At least in my opinion, I haven't been in LPU since 9.0, before that it was 7.0. I'm glad to be in again (Hopefully)! Malvarr
On the other hand, this has to be the first HT era song where the music doesn't just consist of BIG HUGE GUITAR POWER CHORD sound. It actually has an interesting beat with very audible bass that, had it been included on Hybrid Theory, would have made it a stand out track, for better or for worse. You did forget about She couldn't. Astat
Sweet. Now if only I could find out why I still don't have my LPUX package when it supposedly shipped 16 days ago... The original quality of the audio sources for these demos were not even recorded at such a high rate. That's the point I am trying to get at. Robot Boy is a different story. You are SORELY mistaken if you think lossless audio didn't exist (or was even "an inconvenience" to record with) in 1998. DAT recorders were introduced in like, 1987, just for starters...and no self-respecting band would knowingly RECORD to a lossy format. If it had been impossible to record digitally to a lossless format in the '90s, analog recording would have still been the predominant method of recording albums for far longer than it was. andydlp
Demos are not bad. ATL still rules IMO LPU is still too expensive for my tastes. Early entry etc is all good but there's only like one rumoured gig for next year?? Could be a waste of money. I'd like to think not for those forking out the cash but still...you never know. Blasphemy. They record all of their samples and demos to super crappy tapes while they're still bouncing ideas around and then they perform every song from start to finish in one take to burn to CDs that we all buy in stores. gorast
Man these demos are amazing. I particularly like the random bass notes right at the end of the ITE demo. Good job, Phoenix (he was still with the band in '98, right?) Also, did anyone notice that the LP logo was modified for this? The top of the circle was cut out, and there's a second circle around the entire thing now. Hmm.

LOL. I master CD for u LP! I no real good method: .wav > 320kbps .mp3 > (mastering) > 192kbps .mp3 > CD-R > (send to CD making place) > re-rip as 192kbps .mp3 > ? > PROFIT!
