For Mac users: same can be done with Safari (or any other browser that supports HLS, but as far as I know only Safari and Edge support it)

Do we have any information on how safe the livestream is? I think there were some festivals before where they were scheduled for a broadcast even though it was unsure if they have the clearance until minutes before the show started.

I highly recommend NOT to use Hola. If you use Hola you automatically get an exit point for other users. That means that if you are living in the USA for example and someone wants to proxy their traffic over the USA, you might be the machine they will use to do that.

MMM Cookies was released after the shitshow that LPU 7 was. I think that was a major reason people were pissed.

The whole show was embarrassing and awful.

I already mentioned it in the shoutbox, but another problem I see with the two songs so far is, that they could be from any other artist. When I was listening to Battle Symphony for the first time, my first thought was: "This could also be a Katy Perry song". You don't have to change anything. Just replace Chesters voice. Done. I have the same feeling with Heavy. You can take any other pop artist, replace the vocal line and you have a song. While LP wrote quite a few "pop" songs in their career already, I can't imagine the same thing with any other song. The two songs sound so much like a product of the pop industry to appeal to the masses with no uniqueness and nothing outstanding.

Listened to the song two times and it is already boring. Once again it's not a bad song, but it's nothing special and absolutely average pop radio music.

I'm not an expert but I am pretty sure that's not how it works. Just because you don't earn money by using someone elses work doesn't mean you can use their work however you want to.

If they signed an NDA than they can sue them. If they just ask them to not talk about it I guess there is nothing they can do. Since they taped the song for somewhen later I would guess that it is the second single and it will air as soon as the song gets released.

Pretty random but somehow today Heavy really reminded me of She Couldn't.

That's so weird. This news hits me more than any other LP related news we got in the last couple of weeks. I guess a lot of that comes from the fact of how awesome my times at Linkin Park concerts have been and somehow they are connected to the sound Pooch helped to make possible. My first real rock show was LP 2009 in Stuttgart, where I have met Hahninator, Andone and a hell lot of other people. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have gone to the show at all and I guess I wouldn't have gone to any other LP show afterwards. Sadly I barely stayed in touch with most of the people I've met at LP shows since I don't keep in touch with people I only saw once in general, but I think I've met Andone at every LP concert I've been to (correct me if I am wrong, but I can't remember one), and I always had an awesome time with him. At every single concert I've met awesome people which are probably around in the forums here (at least for some people I am pretty sure, and I guess most of you have no idea who I am) and I always had a freaking amazing time. I guess this post is pretty random but for me it feels kinda like an era comes to an end, and for me Pooch really took a part in it, so I it makes me pretty sad to see him leave. Nevertheless I still wish him the best and I hope he keeps on doing what he loves!

Someone screwed up: Heavy has 16th February 2016 as the release date in Spotify and it seems like it doesn't show up in the "New Releases" category.

What the hell? Are they seriously doing a "collaboration" with Mercedes for the music video? You can't tell me you don't lose some kind of artistic integrity by selling advertising spots in your music video to a car manufacturer. I guess the huge success of the GATS video made them realise how awesome partnering up with a random company for a freaking music video is.

I think the song is actually pretty good, if it wasn't a Linkin Park song but a random pop act who performed it. For me it sounds like a track, that was produced for a random pop act, so they can put it on their album. It seems like it was constructed in a way so that it fits perfectly into the sound we have on radios nowadays, without taking any risks, trying out new stuff or just putting any personal touch to it. I mean all those things in general, not in the context of LP, because it is definitely a risk for Linkin Park, it is something new for them, and since it was written, produced and performed by the band I guess they definitely put their personal touch to it. I am perfectly fine with pop music and I listen to a lot of pop music, but from Linkin Park I expect something new and interesting. That could be new and interesting sounds, blending different genres together, going away from the norm or in short: experimenting. But this song just sounds like a working formula being applied. There is not a single element to the sound of the song that gets me really excited and interested. Even when I disliked a Linkin Park song in the beginning (probably the best example would be The Catalyst), I still felt excited because it was interesting and it felt new and refreshing. That's just not the case in this song and that's kinda sad. It's a pretty generic sound with a generic song structure. With that said, in general I still prefer a song (or in the worst case a whole album) I don't love because someone tried something different and new, instead of getting the same old stuff over and over again. I will listen to the song, because it's a random good pop song in my opinion and not because it is a Linkin Park song that blew me away. I suck at putting my thoughts into words (even more so if it's in English) so I don't know if that makes sense for anyone else :-D

The Grammys are today (12th Feb).

In the Chrome devtools you can activate a FPS Meter and afterwards you just have to scroll around. If you want to know which elements get repainted on scroll, just activate Paint Flashing and scroll around. Green boxes indicate repaints (which are expensive and probably things that prevent the site to scroll at 60 fps).

Scrolling on the forums overview is pretty laggy for me and I can't get more than 30 fps there. I did a quick investigation and it seems like the category headers in the Hybrid theme are the problem, since they are repainted on scroll. Promoting them to their own layer improved performance for me and I got almost 60 fps afterwards. If you want to incorporate my fix you have to add transform: translate3d(0, 0, 0); to this rule: "body, .col_c_icon img[src*=f_], .maintitle, #branding" Also the icons in the first column of a forum (the indicator if there is something read or unread in there) are also repainted on scroll but I don't see a reason why they should. The problem is that there is an unnecessary CSS rule on the icons that puts background-attachement: fixed on them which is a huge performance killer. I think it's the same rule that is used for the forum category headers, where the background-attachement is needed.
