  1. While I all believe that they are tech savvy the latency is a technical restriction of capactitive touchscreens (which are used in pretty much every smartphone and tablet). The "normal" APIs you have to program these devices have already a latency of ~300 ms. The 80 ms delay is already when used on the lowest level and without switching out the hardware itself (which is pretty much impossible on apple devices or tablets/smartphones in general) you can't lower it. To be precise: the latency is not about the software recognizing the input as an actual input. It is the time the touchscreen needs to process the input and send it over to the operating system. I don't think that any tweaks can lower it.
  2. This is kinda offtopic but I guess it fits here the best: I am by no means an expert when it comes to live music but don't you want to avoid as much latency as possible in a live environment? How come using iPads is working for them? Especially for triggering samples like Joe does. The input lag on the latest iPad generation is about 80ms. Isn't that way too much in order to be on point?

  4. From the interview that's on the last page I get the impression that Horizons was written/recorded after the first batch of songs they recorded. But I don't think that it's a confirmation.

  6. Ha, so if you don't know it I guess no one knows it :-D Did really no one wondered, for the last 10 years, where the song came from and what it was supposed to be for? I don't think they just were in the studio and thought "hey let's produce another track, just for the fun of doing it" only to release it two years later on a LPU CD.
  7. Yeah I know that there is always some loss on the way since these organizations also have to pay their staff and all the things to keep it going. But Chideo is just a fundraiser platform. It's not a charity organization, so comparing those numbers is a bit weird in my opinion. Also like you said, the charity that gets the money from Chideo still has to cover their own costs which will reduce the amount of money that goes to the problem. Adding a middleman whose only intention it is to make money is just a very bad practice in my opinion.
  8. Well one of my thoughts is that some members of LP are involved with Chideo and have a financial interest in it. I honestly see no other reason why they should use it otherwise.
  9. I don't get it why they use a platform like Chideo. They have their own thing with MFR and I don't see a reason why they should use a third party to collect donations. Since Chideo is not a non-profit organization and not a charity organisation themselves at all they just lose out on money. I guess MFR has to give Chideo a cut of the donations in order for them to host and publish those videos (Makes me wonder who creates the videos. Someone from Chideo or LP, Fiore?). So all MFR and LP are doing with this is helping a for-profit company to grow and earn some cash with money which is supposed to go towards charity. That's a pretty fucked up concept in my opinion. So to sum things up: - Less content for the LPU who is already paying for that type of content - Less money for MFR/charity in general (Assuming Chideo gets a cut. I can't imagine how they fund themselves otherwise) - Money for a company that does pretty much nothing but hosting a few videos. MFR could have set up a system like that themselves easily if they want to put content behind a paywall (or in this case a donationwall). Edit: Okay I looked around a bit on their page (http://www.chideo.com/about) and it seems like I wasn't that off with my assumptions. First of all, they're distancing themselves from being a charity company/organization/whatever. So they want to earn money. They even state how much of the money they get: 20% What makes it even worse: they act like they are doing better than other fundraisers, because apparently others charge even more. Well I guess donating directly do the charity is even better than going through some fundraiser platform if you are taking a part of it. I am pretty sure there are fundraiser platform for charity that charge almost nothing so I don't know where they get their numbers from.
  10. So I just listened to the song and I was wondering where the song came from and I actually found nothing that satisfies me. The only actual information about the song I found are either from the LPA Wiki (which we know isn't that reliable) and the LPL "Did you know" Facts (which also doesn't list any sources so I don't really trust all of them). There is also a comment from Mike about the song (see LP Underground Track Commentary in the Wiki) but it doesn't help at all, so I'll just leave it out. I searched around for sources of these statements and I simply can't find any. The second option, that it was recorded for "Clearing The Field", makes much more sense but why the hell does it end up on a LPU CD then? I would be glad if anyone could confirm any information about the origin of the song.
  11. As far as I remember they recorded several demos/tracks (whatever that means, maybe they were only throwing around with some ideas) when they recorded ALTNC but not the song for Neon Future II. That one got recorded later after ALTNC was released. It's possible that I got things mixed up though.

  16. I think that a new FM record is already in the works and it's gonna experimental as shit and Mike just doesn't want to announce it before it's done.
  17. I always thought that LP's rig can only handle two guitars? Wouldn't it be a pain in the ass to extend it so they can have a third guitar for one show and only one song?
  18. Shouldn't there be at least 2 demos from The Catalyst? If you watch the tour through Mike's homestudio he explains how they copy the whole song and add it into the project whenever they make major changes while he shows The Catalyst and on the screen you can see 2 other versions of the song.
  19. Since a few days threads don't get marked as read properly anymore. Mostly happens when I go through all new posts in the Newswire for example and open them all in a new tab. Almost all of them get marked as read besides one or two threads (seems to be random which ones get marked).
  20. I don't even see a reason why they keep on releasing them anymore. Live clips dubbed with studio versions and some time lapsed videos in between.
  21. So you know it but no one else? How come you have the information? As long as there is no official statement that everyone can read it's just badmouthing LP's management in my opinion. Also no one wants to rip off a small company. We, as the fans, feel ripped off. The customer is the one who have to be satisfied and that's what a company should care for and not the other way around...

  23. Amen. People were satisfied when they started playing the set at the festival tour because it has an awesome song selection. Problem with LPL members (or maybe hardcore fans in general, don't know much about other bands) is, that they keep up with the stuff all the time so they get bored of it. The only solution would be to play other 20 songs every night (even better if they do all kinds of mashups/intros/outros). That will never happen and they don't even need to. A regular/casual/normal 'fan' is visiting like one or two show per touring cycle and I guess if you compare the setlists between touring cycles it's perfectly fine in terms of variations. They don't care what part Mike rapped over RNT, if he did RME over BIO or if they add APFMH for another show. But somehow everyone on LPL sounds like some entitled person who can demand another setlist every show (even if they live on the other site of the planet and just watch some clips on youtube) just because he is a more dedicated fan than the casuals. Imagine if they add RME out of nothing to the set. People would be crazy for it for maybe the next 5 shows? After that it will be the same old 'where are some surprises?' again. I don't know, I am annoyed by it a little bit. Yeah, I would love to get some more variation myself, but I can understand why it's not happening, and obviously bitching about won't help. People ask for APFMH all the fucking time and I am pretty sure the band knows it by now. They just don't want to play it. Some random rant by me :-D Now, back to normal. Enough words on LPL for the next 3 weeks for me:-D
  24. I remember that he had so much fun playing one key on WFTE. Don't know if he still enjoys it that much but he IS pretty weird :-D
