  1. As much as I dislike a handful of songs on Minutes to Midnight, I think they were well constructed. It was more of a "I dislike this" instead of "This song is pretty annoying" which is what Forgotten always was to me. I love the verses and the breakdown, but I have always hated the chorus. It just sounds extremely weird. I hate to diss anything off of Hybrid Theory, that's my favorite album from them but damn....even the "HOO HAA!!" makes it worse.
  2. To be fair, the original members aren't even there anymore. There's a lot of truth to this regarding a LOT of people. They listen to the radio and assume that's what rock music is about. Anything that's hot on the radio is usually easy listening to sell to the public, if you are wanting something with more soul to it, you gotta search. Damn dude! That song is sick!
  3. I just listened to your Part of Me mix more in depth, and noticed at about 2:50 on the breakdown, Mike is on the right channel and Chester is on the left. I don't know if it was always that way but that's sick!
  4. You judge music based on how old the members of the band are? You are right, sad indeed.
  5. Constructive criticism would probably be helpful. Otherwise, you are just spitting out hateful words. If something could have been better, point it out.
  6. Listen to some Nine Inch Nails and the song Come To Daddy from Aphex Twin. Heavy without "metal". (Unless you count the metal as industrial sounds ) You can make some heavy music without having a guitar, bass, drums and a turntable. It's 100% possible.
  7. 6 out of what? Come on now. You are a professional critic, we need more details! I give it a 10/10 for keeping it simple and effective.
  8. Awesome stuff. You didn't go overboard and throw some techno shit over all of it..you stuck to the point and made it sound unique. Edit: By the way, nice shoe.
  9. I apologize if I offended you but please understand that my statement was directed at those who specifically said they felt sorry for him and would buy an album. Edit: Yes, everyone has their right to do whatever they want to do. I just wanted to point out the fact that I felt they were being manipulated, and I felt offended by it as well. If that's not the case, then big deal. What I feel alone is not going to hurt Chester's career. If no one else feels the way that I do about this situation, then it's seriously no big deal. It was a big red flag in my eyes, if it's not to anyone else then so be it.
  10. Then don't you think he should have asked those questions to the people he hired to promote this stuff? They did a terrible job if you ask me. I would have never heard of DBS if I wasn't part of LP fan forums.
  11. VERY dumb, which is why I made my initial post to begin with...people having sympathy and buying CD's for the hell of it. I guess it's wrong of me to associate actions from people with what Chester said, but it's going together like a puzzle. Just wanted to point it out. If no one else feels that way then I guess I truly am looking into it too much.
  12. If he has over 100 people who read his Twitter, yeah chances are likely. That's more sales based on a twitter feed, it worked. You've seen it yourself, there are people who like bands simply because the lead singer is attractive. I'm not saying that's any of us, but there's always that portion that wants to be the "groupie". Of course someone will buy the DBS album after reading that. There's no 100% proof that he did this intentionally, but to completely rule it out as if a businessman is innocent is just kinda silly if you ask me. He has every right to get people to buy more albums and obviously saying "Go buy more albums please, they cost money." is not going to work. My only major complaint is the people who act like he's depressed. That's my ONLY major complaint. I personally think Dead By Sunrise was crap because of what Julien K brought to the table. I like Julien K, I like Chester's work but combined I think it was a flop. Too much "techno" and not enough facemelting.
  13. So what's your opinion on him randomly spilling his "emotions" on the public then? Linkin Park got booed at during Summer Sanitarium, opening for Metallica. They have been booed at countless times, you think he's just going to randomly get upset about things like that? When someone gets upset about results from their art, it's because they wanted their art to sell. That doesn't necessarily mean money, but they want a certain significance from the public. It is no longer a "Oh, I made this because I loved it. It's all about passion." Chester has a spine and a lot of courage (along with other musicians who have made it quite high in the media world, it takes a lot of courage). He may not even be using it as a marketing strategy, but it certainly appears that way when all I am seeing is people feeling sorry for him all of a sudden. I have reason to believe this is his way of getting more people to buy the CD. Is there anything 100% wrong with that? No. I just think people should realize these things. If you want to help him out, by all means help him out. Buy the CD's but don't act like he's depressed. At the end of the day though, I am the one in front of a computer monitor while he tours the world.
  14. Wow, you just summarized that whole entire experience with 2 quotes. You have won the internet.
  15. Precisely.
  16. Is there a fan page on Facebook for this one?
  17. Well, I was only assuming that based on the house I saw on MTV Cribs, the awesome car he drives and the fancy clothing he wears on top of the tattoo shop and clothing line he owns. But I guess in another perspective, maybe those are things that he is not 100% entitled to. I wish I was in a place where I could say for sure what is going down but unfortunately, I can't. Like I said though, as long as they keep Music for Relief up, I think it's an awesome thing and I will always have much respect for them because of it.
  18. No one is saying he's an evil person, but it has to be a way of getting more sales. That's a first thing he mentions, "sales are down in USA". It's working, as you can see on these forums. People feel bad and want to buy more CD's. If he wanted a pure opinion on the music itself, I don't think he would have mentioned sales at all. But hell, what do I know. Just a speculation, the guy has thousands of dollars. edit: You know, now that I think about it..I could care less at this point. The guys all have done a lot with Music for Relief, so what they do with money is none of my concerns. Just wish people weren't such a victim to situations as I presented.
  19. Regarding Chester on the DBS comments, I usually don't bash the members of Linkin Park because they do a lot of great things. I have always respected them, but I think this is just a ploy to get people to buy more DBS CD's. Assuming the following according to today's recording and marketing standards, Chester doesn't just go and put the CD on the market by himself, he has people that market the music, promote it (which I think the promotion was horrible for it), a producer - he knows it sounds good. It's catchy, it's appealing to the masses, I don't buy the "poor me" facade. What sticks out more to me is how he mentions, not word for word, "We can't really think to make more music if people are downloading it for free, it doesn't accurately reflect what people think." Yes, a true statement, but he went from wondering if the album sucked to persuading people to go buy it. If he wanted true thoughts on how the music actually was in itself, he could have asked just that..."What did you all think of the DBS album? Positivity and negativity is all welcome." No one likes to see bickering, but I also don't like to see you all falling for something as simple as this because look at what you're doing already. "Wow, I feel really bad for him...I'm going to go buy this CD." Strategy accomplished. Music is not free, you shouldn't download it illegally. You realize this. I'm sure a lot of people download music instead of paying money. Sadly, it's much easier to do that now. But don't act like this guy is emotionally depressed. He played an entire concert with a broken arm, he's not a wimp. Now for the new album, I agree with a lot of you on the "heavy" hip-hop aspect. I believe Hybrid Theory and Meteora had a LOT of those influences. Minutes to Midnight was lacking that in my opinion.
  20. At least they like Smashing Pumpkins. Any time I find someone seriously taking the time out to bash any form of music, I just point out the fact they are sitting behind a computer monitor while the person(s) they are dissing is touring the world.
  21. I would think, not giving an estimated time on your next album would be just as bad as not saying anything at all. "WTF LP!? DID YOU JUST DISAPPEAR?" I can see why they throw out estimated dates, regardless of how inaccurate they are...because regardless, they keep us on our toes. No denying that.
  22. Regardless of what band you might favor more...Alice in Chains clearly has the "hard"est song on the list. I don't even see why What I've Done is on there. Edit: Oh..."performance". AIC isn't too great live. AC/DC sounds pretty good live usually, so I am going with them.
  23. DSP = Digital Souvenir Packages a.k.a live concerts that were professionally recorded. edit: damn it......you fast people and your fast answers.. Some people who collect audio concerts go crazy about stuff like that, some people are excited to be able to hear the concert they went to in a professional recording. Some people could really care less as hearing the same live song over and over gets old..like me I do like when they do crazy things here and there though. That's always fun to hear. Anything as small as Chester singing Bubbles over Points of Authority (Which has never happened, but they can be quite random sometimes.)
  24. The Linkin Park websites have always been pretty "busy" looking in my opinion, but I think by far this is the best layout they have ever had. edit: I also agree that it's much easier to use.
