  1. I know man. I'm with you 100%. I just didn't understand where you were coming from exactly at first. I still say they do another LPU tour.
  2. It can and has happened in the past. Let's say a concert attendee expects to hear "What I've Done" or "New Divide" but Linkin Park doesn't play it because they decided to cater to the old fans that night. Imagine the huge portion of fans that haven't heard a damn thing before MTM. They walk out that night saying "Wow..that kinda sucked, they didn't play anything I knew." and have the mentality of not showing up again. If I was in a band, I would not want to disappoint someone like that. No, they aren't going to lose a massive number of people after one show...but if they did a whole tour playing nothing but old stuff for the dedicated fans...yeah, you would see a difference. Regardless, the point was clear now that you are wanting 2-3 older songs rotated into the set. I'm with you on that one. Just sounded like you were ruling out that they shouldn't play singles at all because they have played them every year...I just don't see that happening. EDIT: Yes, people who walk out without having a single amount of fun are losers..but it does happen. I'm not stupid, I know how bitchy people are when they don't get what they want. lol
  3. Well yeah, I agree with you there. I was just interpreting it as people wanting less singles and more old album material - then it turned into a record label war.. They are going to continue playing mostly singles because they have to but the things like HHH, LOATR and such is most likely their own choices there - to continue promoting their latest work. Perhaps they DON'T care what the fans are wanting and want to do what they feel like instead. It doesn't sound very friendly but maybe the picky nature of the "hardcore" kinda turned them off.
  4. In 2004, Minutes to Midnight wasn't out. Figure.09 and Don't Stay was their little gimmicks to get people to buy Meteora..the "Meteora" World Tour was in 2004 after all.
  5. Which ties in to Warner Bros having a say in the matter. Here's the bottom line...they should just set aside some time for a special LPU tour again, give a real treat to the dedicated fans there and then go touring for the mass audience. Dude...there were so many people bitching at that Korn show I went to because they didn't play Twisted Transistor or none of that stuff. You DO lose people. This conversation is really getting blown out of proportion when all that was said was the fact that they HAVE to play their singles for marketing reasons. I'm in college for this shit, I study it. You won't succeed in a band if you're playing covers of other bands. You're going to have people that are there for the sake of "rocking the hell out" as you said - but think about all the fans that are there that aren't these hardcore fans. There's a LOT.
  6. Give me some hardcore proof that they don't have a say. edit: Imagine an LP show where they played nothing but Hybrid Theory songs. I know that's not what you guys are asking for but that's where the label comes in. You think they are just going to let LP kill off a good portion of their newer fans? Highly doubtful.
  7. That's not how it works man, they may not have 100% control over LP but they certainly have a say on a certain number of singles they have to play. It's a contract, not a friendship. Warner wants to make some money obviously..they aren't going to send LP out on tour playing a bunch of songs that not every person will know. That loses interest and you lose fans. It's reality.
  8. I know what you're saying...but look at the extra songs that they DO play - it's stuff off of their newest album. You just kinda have to assume that the label is pushing them to do that to an extent. They have to market their singles and their newest material whether it's by a label or their own personal choice - it's a smart move. Nothing? I think that's stretching it just a tad, bro..
  9. Until Linkin Park is no longer signed with a record label, your wishes will probably not come true. They are GOING to play mostly singles to attract to the masses and not just their dedicated fans. That's what the LPU is for - exclusive meet and greet passes, rare tracks on disc sent straight to your home, all catered to the hardcore dedicated fans. You have become desensitized to what the LPU has to offer because most of it gets leaked anyways. Is that Linkin Park's fault? Absolutely not. Let me tell you about a different band - Korn. They recently just finished up their "Escape from the Studio" tour and played in mostly small intimate venues. They wanted to go old school and they pretty much played their entire first album for all the hardcore fans. How many hardcore fans were there at the show I attended? Not a lot. The only song they knew was Coming Undone. There IS a reason that a band would play all singles and not a lot of their "unknown" stuff. Korn isn't currently signed to a label so they can do what they want in essence. Linkin Park playing mostly singles ties into marketing, not because they "hate the hardcore fans".
  10. I sense much nerd rage in this topic..
  11. 0.0 Where did we hear this at? EDIT: Oh, duh...LPU chat. Well awesome!
  12. Absolutely - you can't go wrong with a site that calls the band Linkin"g" Park.
  13. Well, you're looking at it as "sound" instead of them being one of many pioneers in the industry. The sounds they achieved were extremely complex, whereas now we can just purchase a program on the market that does all the work for us. People highly respect The Beatles and will for years to come. I know what you are saying but there is a reason for the high sales...it reflects their hard work that made them successful.
  14. Simply awesome - I'm proud to have contributed to Hybrid Theory.
  15. Just throwing this out there as many of you have in the past already.... Don't ask questions about the forthcoming album such as: "Is Protools fixed?" "What does the new album sound like so far?" "How many songs do you have written for the new album?" "Do you have a name for the album yet?" Those questions really don't matter as we are going to hear the album regardless of what it sounds like, what kind of delays they are having (if any) and how many songs they came up with compared to what will actually be the 10 songs on the record. Anyways, just so I don't get chewed out for not contributing - I think it would be cool to ask if they will consider maybe one day giving the community master tracks of their older albums for remixing. That would be something unique for them to do. Even if it was like a package for sale but then again considering Warner Bros. still owns everything they do, a question like that would be pretty pointless too. Was just a thought.
  16. No need to say thanks if you didn't truly appreciate the effort they took into uploading it for you.
  17. Oh, I know. I agree with you 100% but they probably have the mentality of....not wanting to use a free program over hardware they spent 50k on. Silly rock stars.
  18. You would think if Mike's logic was the exact same as yours, he wouldn't have made an entire post complaining about how he can't use Pro Tools at the moment. There is a reason I said what I did. It's simply because based on Mike's logic, they aren't planning on using something as "amateur" as Audacity. EDIT: Not saying anything is wrong with your logic, it's just something that a professional band such as Linkin Park probably does not want to resort to.
  19. To edit precisely, yes...it does. I've never heard of a song being edited without zooming in at all. Also, sounds to me like they aren't willing to downgrade to something else to continue working...considering Mike took the time to call them out for it. I don't blame him.
  20. Recording wise, yes.
  21. Sad to say...I'm not surprised based on what today's youth listens to. -.-' As you just said, "biggest joke ever."
  22. He was only a joke target because of kids and their idiotic parents who don't do their research. There was never even concrete evidence that he did anything to harm anyone. He was a very talented musician and there is no denying that. It's innocent until proven guilty where I come from. And on the Minutes to Midnight and Foo Fighters comment....I'm with Mark on this one completely. Minutes to Midnight = Beats that Mike made with the "thumbs up" from the rest of the band, with Chester on vocals. Foo Fighters = Still recording with their FULL band. Of course it will get nominated over Minutes to Midnight. It had more craftsmanship. (I'm still mad about Dave's comment on backing tracks though...that was pretty lame.) There was a lot more to MTM than what I just said...but that's really the summary of it. Surely someone will take the time to get technical and prove me wrong but you get what I'm saying. Anyways, I bet New Divide wins something this time around.

    Predictions

If that was the case, explain the gap between each album. Seriously now, they put on awesome live shows and they are a highly successful band...it's just silly to act like they "don't have time". They know what time they have and they use it how they want to. They could have had a lot more albums out by now, but they chose not to. That's their thing. I respect that, some people won't. I understand why people don't. It's really a good argument on both sides. Here's to hoping they spend more time in the studio than touring next year.

    Predictions

Well, music IS their career after all. Yeah, we can deal with the wait. Should we have to is the question. Anyways, I picture Dead by Sunrise possibly touring with Korn on Family Values. I could be wrong...but that occurs next year. Would probably be a good place for them to be.
  25. They also get on webcam almost every single day and chat with fans on a personal level. None of this "ask your questions when your letter is called". It's so real...and they let you watch them recording in the studio. Sadly, they won't let you hear the music they are recording.
