He was only a joke target because of kids and their idiotic parents who don't do their research. There was never even concrete evidence that he did anything to harm anyone. He was a very talented musician and there is no denying that. It's innocent until proven guilty where I come from. And on the Minutes to Midnight and Foo Fighters comment....I'm with Mark on this one completely. Minutes to Midnight = Beats that Mike made with the "thumbs up" from the rest of the band, with Chester on vocals. Foo Fighters = Still recording with their FULL band. Of course it will get nominated over Minutes to Midnight. It had more craftsmanship. (I'm still mad about Dave's comment on backing tracks though...that was pretty lame.) There was a lot more to MTM than what I just said...but that's really the summary of it. Surely someone will take the time to get technical and prove me wrong but you get what I'm saying. Anyways, I bet New Divide wins something this time around.

If that was the case, explain the gap between each album. Seriously now, they put on awesome live shows and they are a highly successful band...it's just silly to act like they "don't have time". They know what time they have and they use it how they want to. They could have had a lot more albums out by now, but they chose not to. That's their thing. I respect that, some people won't. I understand why people don't. It's really a good argument on both sides. Here's to hoping they spend more time in the studio than touring next year.
-
Well, music IS their career after all. Yeah, we can deal with the wait. Should we have to is the question. Anyways, I picture Dead by Sunrise possibly touring with Korn on Family Values. I could be wrong...but that occurs next year. Would probably be a good place for them to be.
-
They also get on webcam almost every single day and chat with fans on a personal level. None of this "ask your questions when your letter is called". It's so real...and they let you watch them recording in the studio. Sadly, they won't let you hear the music they are recording.

I'd also think that Linkin Park as a band wouldn't put out a demo that doesn't consist of their current lineup. It's safe to assume it's the Chester version we never heard.
-
Why are you all ruling out the A.06 demo? There is perfectly good reasoning that they didn't play the long version live. What is it? The same reason they don't go on stage and play demos of their finalized songs. If they liked A.06 as the short way....they aren't going to play it the long way. Just common sense... so that's definitely still a possibility.

Is it just me or do the Dead By Sunrise videos seem really low budget? The camera quality is of course top notch but the directing and effects don't seem that spectacular. That guy that did their videos is a great director but something is just missing in these videos. It makes me think DBS didn't dish out a lot of money for them. Oh well, it's about the music..just would have liked some awesome music videos to go with them if they were going to do it at all. Thanks for posting!

I think they "asked" about a webcast...didn't ask when it would be streaming. Therefore, nothing was assumed. Happy Halloween!

You could use that same argument for people who think it's cool to hate him for something not 100% in his control, just like people did with Bush.

He's actually right. The president does not have full power. Obama's only mistake was PROMISING change, but he had to do so to get elected. Every president does this. If they say they will "try" and the other guy says they WILL do something, the other guy will win because of how simple minded people are. It's not even been a full year yet, you can't expect everything to be finished. (It was pretty lame for him to get a Nobel Peace award...I will admit that) If the health care bill is passed within this year, that indicates to me that it's rushed and will be fucked over completely. I don't see why you think it will make things worse. You would rather pay $15,000 for injuring your toe and having surgery on it? You can't deny the fact that we pay way too much just to survive. I have never been a strong person for politics but I notice the same thing no matter what president is elected. There is always a "flaw", always. No one is perfect or ever will be. This health care plan should be the least of someones worries. When you look more into where our tax money is spent as of right now, I think you would change your standpoint some. At least with health care, our taxes are going to something useful.

Brian "Head" Welch, Korn's former guitarist posted this back in August. " ONE OF MY OLD FRIENDS FROM THE BAND "DEFTONES" WAS IN A MAJOR CAR ACCIDENT LAST NOVEMBER. HIS NAME IS CHI CHENG. CHI WAS IN A COMA, BUT HAS COME OUT OF IT. HE'S IS SLOWLY PROGRESSING, BUT NOT FAST ENOUGH FOR HIS INSURANCE COMPANY. THEY DISCONTINUED HIS INSURANCE AND HIS FAMILY NEEDS HELP. PLEASE BUY ONE OF THESE SHIRTS!!! EVERY CENT GOES TO CHI'S FAMILY. WE HAVE DUDE SIZES AND GIRL SIZES. BUY ONE FOR YOURSELF, YOUR WIFE OR HUBBY OR CHILD, FRIEND OR FOE. PLEASE JUST BUY AS MANY AS U CAN BECAUSE HE NEEDS US. CHI IS PROBABLY THE NICEST ROCK STAR ON THE PLANET. HELP HIM NOW!!! THANKS http://www.drivenmusicstore.net/ProductDet...uctCode=Charity HEAD" So, apparently he is in fact out of the coma now but you can see the rest. They (insurance companies) weren't getting the money they wanted in time and pulled his insurance away from him. It's pretty sad when you are part of a signed band and can't afford the medical bills. Makes me want the health care plan to come even more.

Dead By Sunrise on Letterman (HD Video)

Rapidshare is worse than Megaupload if you don't have an account there. Anyways, thank you Nkramar. =) -
What is the significance of the triangle(s) surrounded by a circle?
-
Well, it's not necessarily just the "black" people are talking about. They wear makeup and stuff too. It doesn't matter in my opinion...an image has nothing to do with the actual music being performed. Look at Buckethead for example...you would take him as a joke. His skills say otherwise.

Happy Birthday! (to one of the few guys that I know of that can properly mix a live performance)

I do know the "true definition" of selling out..and it's been posted several times for you to see yourself. Linkin Park could play/create music without having to sell it. Trying to reach out to more people IS selling out. You're not going to reach out to more people by doing something people do not like. Common sense tells them that. If I got offered a label at this point in time, I would accept. I would love to make a LOT of money from my music and have it distributed. If people buy it...who's feelings am I hurting? I would accept the fact that I sold myself out to a company though for my work to be distributed. STOP putting a negative label on "sellout". It's not negative, only by opinions - not in actuality. People should not be doing the whole "Oh...wow! They changed their sound and I don't like it! What a bunch of sellouts!" That makes no sense at all and everyone still tends to do that. Just because it's popular for people to say it doesn't mean it's correct. Hell, if you come to the southern states- everyone says "ain't". You tell them that's not a word but they will gladly argue. P.S. A football player is not selling a product. He is playing for his own satisfaction and is getting paid by his coach. (Or the NFL. NFL would be Linkin Park and the football game/players are their music. Figure that out yourself because..I see no connection there at all.) Linkin Park is selling a product. They are making music that connects with people, they have openly admitted to doing this. What band doesn't? Music would be pointless if you didn't try to connect with someone. They just so happened to sign a contract to make profit off of their "connecting". So compare Linkin Park to the football player. Nothing alike. If you can provide a solid defense to that, I will stand corrected.

There you go, making sellout a bad term. No one said Trent Reznor always made music for free. He signed to a label in the start though didn't he? Yes, so he was a sellout. He took the "easy" way out. It IS hard to distribute your music freely, but it happens. A lot of people do it for free. Yes, you are a sellout if you are selling your creations for profit. If you wanted to share your work for free with the world for the sake of knowing people are enjoying it, that is not selling out. You aren't "sell"ing your work "out" to the masses. There are no rules that say you HAVE to charge people to see your work. I make music because I enjoy doing so and I have a myspace where people listen...comment and they wait for a new track. I haven't charged a dime yet. I don't feel that I have to. That's not where my heart is. It doesn't make you a bad person to sell your work. You just linked the definition..."principles are compromised for financial gain", there are changes there once you start making profit off of your work. Once you start getting into the money aspect, you start analyzing what people like most in your work, and you will tend to bring that side out so they will be even more interested. It's why constructive criticism exists, so you can better yourself or the project you are working on to appeal to the masses. I really don't understand why people think sellout = not caring about the fans. They are not linked at all. **Also, on the "movie" aspect. Are you making an independent movie with a low budget...or are we talking a big Hollywood film? If you are working for Hollywood...you signed a contract and sold your work to the company you work for. If you are making an independent film...it's your call what money you spend. I don't think that would have happened if Mike wasn't in Linkin Park prior. He had money to work with, he paid from his own pocket. I bet the people that attended those venues didn't get in for free.
-
Of course they wanted to make a career out of music but that's what selling out is. What I have been trying to say is, everyone has all this negative attachment with the term "sellout". In fact, the term "sellout" isn't even what people are making it out to be. It's not this all end evil thing... They DO care about the fans. They care about the music too. Linkin Park has to be one of two bands that I like who gives a crap about their fans. (Korn is pretty good with their fans too.) Music is their career...they HAVE to sell their music. It really didn't matter, just once again..I had to defend myself because people think I am evil for calling a band a sellout. I like to stick to technicality, and yes...technically ANY band that has signed a record label is a sellout. I like Linkin Park. I like Fort Minor. I like Dead By Sunrise. That should be the end of the conversation there. I love everyone. I love their friends. I love their animals. I love Cristina Scabbia's hairdo as well.
-
I disagree. Why would a grown adult who's never heard of Linkin Park before buy an album that sounded like angsty teenager lyrics? There would be some that do, but nowhere near the amount of fans that they have that bought Minutes to Midnight. Minutes to Midnight was very radio friendly and easy listening. A major plus to a HUGE range of people.
-
What would you call it then? Because it's certainly not rock and roll.
-
People make connections with songs, that's part of what music is all about. It becomes a problem when they think the band themselves are 100% perfect people who never do wrong though.
