  1. Mike posting video clips that were filmed 2 years ago is holding up the new album!
  2. I'm still trying to put this into a more coherent phrasing that doesn't sound like it came straight off of Babelfish (if Babelfish had the ability to translate from multiple languages at once). luminosité - French, meaning "brightness" ontplof - Dutch, meaning "explode" edastada - Estonian, meaning "forward" sekaligus - Indonesian, meaning "simultaneously/altogether" airean - Spanish, third person plural form of airear, which means "to air." Being third person plural, it probably roughly translates to "they will release," in reference to the album. sería - Spanish, third person singular of ser, which means "to be," probably meaning "it is" or "it will be" kuin - Finnish, general connecting term that can mean "as," "as if," "than," "like," etc. pracht - German, meaning "splendor," "gorgeousness," "magnificence," "glory," etc. yang - Chinese, meaning "light" kuat - Malay, meaning "strong" sono - Numerous languages, meaning or related to "sound" mäktig - Swedish, meaning "powerful" terra-zerstören - Portmanteau of terra (Latin, meaning "ground/earth"), and zerstören (German, meaning "to destroy/ruin/corrupt"), which is probably meant to translate to "ground-breaking," especially given the fact that it's hyphenated tyd - Afrikaans, meaning "time" Putting it all together, I'd translate it something like this (and this does involve some personal interpretation, so it's up for debate): "At the end of summer, they will explode forward at once with a release that will be as magnificent and light strong. The sound is powerful and ground-breaking." I think "time" may be at the end for the last part to be translated as "most powerful and ground-breaking yet" or something to that effect. Obviously that's not perfect, but I think it makes it pretty clear that while decoding this message was pretty cool, the message itself is pretty much a generic "New LP album at the end of summer, it's gonna sound awesome!" hype-building thing.
  3. That's a screenshot of his laptop running Scratch Live, which is for all his scratching samples, that has nothing to do with the MIDI pads.
  4. I don't think this even means LP will be in attendance at the event, the way that's worded, it sounds like they're just naming some of the artists that are featured on their countdown or whatever. I pretty much guarantee this isn't a live performance. At best, we'll get a short interview out of it.
  5. If Germany gets it on the 24th, the U.S. will get it on the 28th. Germany gets albums the Friday BEFORE everybody else does. Regardless, I don't think this is legit. There have been plenty of things posted on Amazon with release dates that ended up being changed later. I personally don't even think the album will be out in September.

    Proggy sound

I'm surprised nobody's taken the classic "Almighty Froggie" quote and turned it into "Almighty Proggy" yet.

I'm 100% positive that it IS the only copy of that sampler in existence. The same exact procedure took place with Meteora and Minutes to Midnight, there was never more than one physical copy of the album in existence prior to the CD being sent to the manufacturing plant, and that single copy was flown all over the world for previews with magazines, radio stations, and other media outlets. There are several articles that mention this.

    QWERTY

If they would rehearse it and nail down an arrangement the entire band agrees on, I wouldn't mind seeing it return. The PR07 version was a mess though.
  9. On the topic of the MIDI pads, here's a quick list of every instance I can think of Joe using them (probably incomplete as I don't pay attention to Joe a lot): Papercut (end synth part - most noticeable on the Smokeout 2003 recording) Crawling (intro/outro synth part, second synth part in second half of verses) In the End (piano parts) Lying From You (tire screeching sound effect in verses) Faint (repeating synth note in background of choruses) Numb (intro/outro synth part - intro part only from 2007-present) Bleed it Out (piano parts) Shadow of the Day (synth parts in various spots) No More Sorrow (long intro synth parts - same pad sample as Shadow of the Day) New Divide (intro/outro synth part)
  10. You really don't need to worry about it, I've got this covered with Jonas, I just need to send some stuff to him to get it all updated.
  11. The "last visit" thing refers to the last time you logged in. If you have the site set to remember your password/automatically log you in, that date won't change until you log out/clear your cookies and cache.
  12. A couple things I can add (mainly to address some stuff I'm contributing to the site): -I have to laugh that Mark is crediting the "Did You Know?" section to me "with a little help from him." Truth be told, it was mostly him. I'll definitely have more input on that section in the future though. -This page: http://lplive.net/setlistssongs/linkinparkallsongslive.php still isn't completely up to date, but will be VERY soon. -I also haven't gotten around to writing my analysis for this page yet: http://lplive.net/setlistssongs/2003lputournotes.php but it'll be the next thing I tackle.
  13. I think now that we know the album will be out around the same time as the tour starts, it's safe to assume they'll be playing a bunch of songs from it right off the bat. Until we know the tracklisting of the album/the name of the first single, it's kind of pointless to speculate on anything other than what old songs they're going to play.
  14. It's 2010. Preventing an album leak is impossible.
  15. Wouldn't the Photoshop layers Mark was referring to and the frame-by-frame shots of the .gif animation be 2 different things?
  16. Would somebody with Photoshop be so kind as to post the separate layers? I'd do it myself but I don't have Photoshop on this computer.
  17. Joe's 3 main jobs are scratching, sampling, and MIDI triggers. The reason he looks like he isn't doing as much lately is two-fold, in addition to there being a general lack of scratching on MTM songs, a lot of the samples these days are triggered from off-stage by their monitor engineer (especially the intros of the show-opening songs), plus Mike has been utilizing the sampling capabilities of his keyboard a lot more (pretty much the entire strings/samples backing track on The Little Things Give You Away plays from Mike's keyboard).
  18. I'd normally be quick to write this off as another case of a shady promoter down there "confirming" LP for a show that they haven't booked, but I checked the Pixies website and they already have both shows listed, so looks like this is legit. Cool. It'd be awesome if LP turns out to be the other band at that Mexico show on the 16th too.
  19. MCR would still be plenty relevant if they hadn't taken almost 4 years between albums. They'll be all over the place again as soon as their next album comes out.
  20. Ok, 2 things: 1. Am I the only person who remembers the way the Collision Course artwork was revealed? It was something very similar to this, an extremely blurry/pixelated image that got a tiny bit clearer every day until they finally announced the album. 2. On the other hand, I get the strange feeling this is a "tip of the iceberg" kind of deal. Seemingly random things like this can turn out to be portals into ARGs and stuff like that (anybody else remember the "I am trying to believe" message hidden in the Nine Inch Nails tour t-shirt that kicked off the entire Year Zero ARG?). This could be a clue, that leads to another clue, and so on...who knows. Bottom line, you can pretty much rest assured that there's SOME purpose for this .gif file.
  21. Well, I'm out. I've had this tab open all day for nothing. Maybe I'll have something good to read when I wake up, but I'm not holding my breath.
  22. Twitter being down really shouldn't be a deal-breaker as to whether or not we get the announcement tonight. You know whatever it is, it's going to be on LPU, LP.com, Mike's blog, all the band-related Twitter accounts, Facebook, and Myspace pretty much simultaneously. If we don't get an announcement within the next hour, it's not like we can blame Twitter.
  23. The instrumental of Dolla comes from The Ocean by Led Zeppelin. SCOM - Sweet Child O' Mine Dolla - The Ocean Bloc Party - Banquet (by Bloc Party) Bleach remix - Hey Joe (by Jimi Hendrix) Petrified remix - Strange Days (by The Doors) Remember the Name remix - Music For My Mother (by Funkadelic) Respect 4 Grandma - Baby, Baby Don't Cry (by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles) All Night - Tom Sawyer (by Rush)
  24. Typically magazines get to hear 4 to 6 tracks off a new album this early on, I doubt they've heard the whole thing yet.
  25. It doesn't take a genius industry insider to know that the lyrics in most album booklets are either transcribed by an outside source or copied from lyric sheets provided by the band that don't always reflect the final version of the lyrics. There's a big difference between being a know-it-all and knowing how to do research and observe trends. And there's also a big difference between both of those and being a snarky douche and a half. 1 of the 3 describes me, 1 of the 3 describes you, and 1 of the 3 describes neither of us. Care to take a guess?
