  1. Excellent find! I figured it was some type of guitar synthesizer based on all the extra knobs, I just had no idea where to go from there. The closest thing I had found was the Gibson Les Paul Recording model. On a semi-related note, that's actually the second guitar synthesizer Brad's used in a music video. The guitar in the Bleed it Out video is a 1970s "Guitorgan" guitar (a combination of a guitar and an organ). I had always assumed it was a Gibson ES-345 (the body style, control layout, hardware, and inlays are all consistent with a vintage ES-345), but he talks about the guitar in Part 2 of the making of Bleed it Out on LPUTV.

The lyrics in the booklets are usually sent in on paper before the album is completely finished to give the record company time to start the manufacturing process, so if lyrics end up being changed at the last minute, it isn't always reflected in the booklet. Alternatively, they could've just ad-libbed a line while recording vocals that wasn't identical to what was on the lyrics sheet, so it never ended up on paper. The chorus to Crawling is also different from what appears in the Hybrid Theory booklet.

  6. Those LP.com lyrics definitely are more accurate, but they're still not 100%, for example, the last line is clearly "read RHYMES and said stuff" on the recording, not "read thoughts."
  7. I believe the clip of Chester yelling is from the end of Robot Boy. Some of the droning keyboard parts are the same as the ones in the intro of Blackout (the same sound is also heard for a couple seconds at the end of The Radiance, right before Oppenheimer says "I suppose we all felt that"). The flanger effect could actually be from either Burning in the Skies or Iridescent, the guitar during the gang vocal part of Iridescent has the same effect on it.
  8. Ahh, you're right. I thought his had the 4-knob configuration of the '72 models for some reason. His is definitely a Blacktop Tele, the one he plays at Madison Square Garden is silver and I think he has a black one too. I think on The Radiance and the Savio speech, he actually uses his turntables instead of the trigger pads, that's how he scratches the audio and the video simultaneously. His trigger pads are pretty much just set up for one-shot samples, so he has to hit the button again every time he wants to play the same clip.

  10. I'm normally the last guy to bump a 6-month old thread, but since the live versions of some ATS songs have evolved a bit over that timeframe, I've updated my post of all the live parts to reflect recent changes.

I think that was actually a different model Fernandes than the one he used on NMS during the 2007 in-studio performances, IIRC the first one had a tune-o-matic/stoptail bridge, but the one from KROQ had a string-through-body bridge. But no, I think that was the only show he used it at, unless it was used at BFD too. As for Chester's Tele, it was a maple-neck model with at least a neck humbucker, not sure if the bridge pickup was a humbucker or a single-coil.   12. I'll totally get on this later this week. I'll probably end up doing a couple different mixes/harmonies for each part too, if that'd be cool with you. Gang vocals are pretty much my favorite thing ever, lol. I have some uncredited gang vocal appearances on albums by a couple old local bands from Ohio.
  13. Audio-wise, the BBC Radio 1 performance is very good, so are the handful of Westwood Radio radio broadcast shows that are going around (HFStival and the various KROQ shows come to mind). The very first LP live recording (Orlando 2000) is surprisingly good too. Video-wise, the best FULL show is probably either Rock Am Ring or Goldsmith College. There are a few really good partial ones too - Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Milan, and HBO Reverb are all good ones.

  18. On the flip side, Demonoid is FAR more likely to take something down due to complaints than TPB is. Then again, TPB is also one of those sites that isn't very well-policed, full of fake/mislabeled uploads and stuff like that. Overall, Demonoid is a better website, which is probably the best reason to stick with it.
  19. Let's see...selling tickets prior to any kind of announcement or even a credible rumor of the show taking place? Check. Taking place during a time frame when the band isn't known to be touring otherwise? Check. Uber-shady website being the only source of information about the show? Check. Said website also being the place selling tickets? Check. Just the latest in a long line of non-existent shows "taking place" in China. All you're doing by buying tickets to something like this is giving some "promoter" extra cash that he'll most likely put up his nose, if you know what I mean...
  20. Iridescent gang vocals are sampled, but the band sings over the top of them. Mostly correct. The WFTE backing vocals are sung by Mike, Phoenix, and Joe over the top of the sampled parts. I THINK the BITS backing vocals aren't sampled until the end of the last chorus (where there are 2 harmony parts), it's only one part and sung by both Mike and Phoenix, so they should be able to cover that just fine. The chorus vocals on WTCFM are 100% NOT sampled. Those are sung in unison by Chester, Brad, Phoenix, and Joe, they've been doing that the same way since they started playing it (the "hey hey" chant at the end IS sampled though), and you can hear multiple voices on just about all of the DSPs.   21. It's not the musical composition, it's not the lyrics, it's not the melody, it's not Mike's vocal performance...it's the arrangement. It's just so...monotonous. A soft song should still have some type of climax (see: My December, Shadow of the Day, Iridescent, etc.), but In Between just maintains a rather same-y dynamic level the entire way through the song.

The next 2 songs would be acoustic guitar and vocals only (Mike/Chester on LOATR, and either Brad/Chester or Chester alone on The Messenger). The last 10 songs would be with the full band. Bands that do Unplugged tend to do some unexpected stuff, so I think it would be a good time to break out that "stripped down" version of Robot Boy they've mentioned as a potential live option in the past, and bring back a few oldies (Nobody's Listening is the big one, I've always felt that a tribal-sounding acoustic version of that song would sound REALLY good).
