's the interview where Mike talks about their first 4-song demo which was sent out to a "large indie label" and their A&R person said Mark and Mike should put a band together. He said Brad didn't play on the demo, but here's an where he tells the same story saying Brad played guitars "on some it of". I'll believe 2011 Mike. Mike and Mark started Xero in their first year of college, so Mike already knew Joe (who had been DJ'ing since high school) and could have asked him to contribute to Rhinestone. Joe wasn't a member of the band yet, so him saying Mike had a demo with Mark is right. The "three songs" part is probably wrong. I guess this was just the Xero demo we already have (probably didn't have artwork or anything at the time), recorded in 1996 and released publicly in 1997 when they started playing shows.

Done everything but the live videos. I'll do it later. Updated the band's history: http://linkinpedia.com/index.php?title=Xero_(Demo_Cassette_Tape)#Background Once we have pages for band members (and the band itself) we'll move a lot of this text to their respective pages, but for now it's all there.

Sean Dowdell has just announced his official biography via Facebook. For those who don't know, Sean was the drummer on Chester Bennington's first bands, Sean Dowdell And His Friends? and Grey Daze, as well as a drummer on Bucket Of Weenies and co-owner (with Chester) of a tattoo studio chain called Club Tattoo. In January of this year he signed a publishing deal with Motivational Press for his 300-page book called "Tattooed Millionaire". It tells his journey of getting into the music industry and starting his company. We imagine it will contain quite a few mentions of Chester and his story too. The book is expected to be shipped on May 25. Pre-order it here.

Although the Hybrid Theory and Meteora instrumentals weren't officially released, they're already out there. Since this is an unauthorised biography, they'll remain officially unreleased.

In December of last year, Austin Carlile announced his departure from Of Mice & Men in a lengthy text where he mentioned Mike Shinoda having helped him write songs for one of his band's albums. Thanks to our forum member LinkInThePark who pointed out yesterday "Austin wrote in his statement about the record that hit #4 in US and thats clearly Restoring Force," we now know which album it was and after a little research we were able to figure out which track Mike worked on: the single 'Feels Like Forever.' Austin Carlile met Mike Shinoda in the summer of 2013 in California while taking a break from recording Restoring Force. He played a few demos for Mike, who became immediately interested and asked to be involved in the song. Carlile, a big fan of Linkin Park since he was 14, said this became his favorite song on the album. Since then, Shinoda and Carlile have become good friends. They have been seen together at numerous events like the Sunset Strip Music Festival in 2013 and the Coachella Music Festival in 2015 where they jammed with members of Avenged Sevenfold. Of Mice & Men have also supported Linkin Park on the European and North American legs of The Hunting Party Tour, during which Aaron Pauley and Austin Carlile joined the band on stage to perform 'LOATR/SOTD/Iridescent' and 'Faint' respectively. Read our Linkinpedia page for more information. What do you think of the song?

You can find the credits for each album track here: http://lplive.net/wiki/db/exclusives/grey-daze-story Not everything was written by both Chester and Sean.

Now they finally got me interested. -

We want to add to Linkinpedia a feature similar to the "Did You Know?" Facts we have on LPLive's main page, but instead of random facts, we want to cover (and correct) some misconceptions about the band. If you have any contribuitions to this project, post it here. It can be anything from "Mike Shinoda is not featured on a Evanescence song" to "Linkin Park didn't play 324 shows in 2001."

Mike Shinoda was live on Instagram a few hours ago. Here's a summary: Mike is in Toronto for some press on TV and radio; There's a little bit of rap on this album; You heard Chester saying he's rapping on 'Sorry For Now', but it's not what you think, it's kind of singing rapping; "Why do we care about genre?"; He doesn't listen to a lot of jazz but likes it a little; They'll be posting pictures of the 'One More Light' deluxe book; You can only get the deluxe edition pins on the deluxe album set; "The new LP merch is the shit"; The new LP app is on the way. If you already got it, it will automatically update; The video for 'Heavy' was really fun to make because he didn't have to do anything; The 'Battle Symphony' video just went up; Chester worked really hard on the 'Heavy' video, throwing stuff around, screaming, and acting; 'Battle Symphony' is not gonna be a single, it's just a street track. They put it out because they wanted to give the fans something else to enjoy; When questioned about his favorite song on the album he mentioned 'One More Light', 'Nobody Can Save Me Now' and 'Good Goodbye' then said he likes all the other songs too; Mike saw that Teens React video and thought it was funny; They'll be in Latin America first, then Europe in the summer and they got other tours being set up and announced after that; "All your favorite songs will be on the setlist"; He doesn't understand why people are upset about the band doing different styles because their stuff have always been all over the place; "This album is more like of a mixed genre kind of album". Thanks to Linkin Park Coalition, you can watch the full thing here. Phoenix also did a series of tweets talking a little about the album. Read them below: My predictions for the album, "One More Light-" It will mean different things to different people. Some will love it, some will hate it. For some it will be a joyful album, some will find it sad. Some will find both. For me, it reflects a lot in my life that is very meaningful, and close to my heart. It's simultaneously about my relationship with my daughters, and with struggling to deal with the passing of my mom. To this day, I haven't been able to listen through the entire album without breaking down at least a little bit... OML is my favorite creative endeavor I've ever been able to participate in. I'm excited for you to hear it. I hope it means something to you. To clarify, this is what the album means to me, not what it "means..." But I'm sure you already knew that.

So, Linkin Park updated the Genius page and posted it on social media. Chester isn't credited for writing the song anymore but Jon Green is. Vocal production by Andrew Bolooki.

Is it wrong that I'm more excited about this than the Linkin Park album? -
Already done.

To make sure we don't overlook anything, I'd like to point out that Mike Shinoda went by the name Akira in 1999 and even though Chester was already in the band and they were working on new music together, Mike still did collaborations with other rappers (only one confirmed so far, but anyway). If you check the Hybrid Theory booklet, there are a lot of random rappers and DJs in the "Thanks" page (among them, LMNO and 007). Some of them could be people they collaborated with at some point.

Yes. A message was sent to him by LinkinParkDrew. We're waiting for an answer. We'd like to ask everyone here not to send any more messages to him. By the way, the Linkinpedia pages have been updated with all the information we have so far: http://linkinpedia.com/index.php?title=Drop http://linkinpedia.com/index.php?title=Fiends

Because of how Drop starts ("Hi, we're back. Kenji, Artofficial. Rapology 13."), I think they might have been featured in the Rapology series before. We should probably look for volume 12 and see if there's another Xero track. The tracklist says "Kenji & Artofficial (of Xero)", so I think it's safe to say both artists were Xero members, hence Mike & Joe. Derek said Mike used to make songs with Styles Of Beyond under the name Junkyard Scientific. We should probably look for any release with that name too.

You can post those random facts here: http://lplive.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=12348 And we'll add them to Linkinpedia.

For those who don't know, 007 was Styles Of Beyond's manager. He was best friends with Mike and introduced him to Ryu. Another question: The back of the CD says "F/007 Fiends CD Rap Up". I understand "CD rap up" is a play of words with "CD wrap up", but shouldn't we include that in the title of the track since it's in the tracklist?

A lot of LPU demos have wrong years. Mike admitted to us.
-
Exactly what I thought! Chester joined the band in March 1999. That's confirmed. Mike was already doing hip-hop stuff before Xero.

Holy shit! Thank you very much for this!
