  1. Exactly what I thought! Chester joined the band in March 1999. That's confirmed. Mike was already doing hip-hop stuff before Xero.
  2. Holy shit! Thank you very much for this!
  3. One Step Closer is from this show: http://lplive.net/shows/db/2001/20010111 By Myself is from this show: http://lplive.net/shows/db/2000andearlier/20001211 Still trying to figure out the others.
  4. Is this the 4th street bridge?
  5. Those are the videos in the DVD: http://linkinpedia.com/index.php?title=Crawling#DVD_Single Crawling from the Dragon Festival is the only full song. We don't really know where the 4 short clips were recorded. If I remember right, each one was from a different show.
  6. For me, it feels forced and kind of out of place. You have a lot of scenes going really fast in the beginning and then they just focus on the car for a really long time. But like everyone said, at least it was only shown once.
  7. A six-episode Newsy Original Series hosted by Noor Tagouri called "A Woman's Job" will premiere this Wednesday. The series will showcase women succeeding in traditionally male-dominated fields. But what does this have to do with Linkin Park? Well, the theme song of the show was composed by Mike Shinoda as announced by Tagouri in a recent tweet. This is the third time that theme music has been composed by Mike Shinoda for a TV show, coming after "This Is Life" and "Into The Badlands". Watch the trailer below: You can catch the series on Sling TV beginning on March 8th, 2017, airing at 8pm / 9pm ET. A premiere event and panel discussion will be hosted by Newsy at The National Press Club in Washington, DC on International Women's Day. You can register for the event here or here. 4/14 EDIT: The one minute theme song has been released.
  8. One More Light sounds really beautiful. It's the kind of song I like to hear at the end of a heavy album (too bad that's not the case here). Talking To Myself is like one of those really happy poppy songs with music videos featuring people jumping and dancing in the streets. I want them to make a video for that song just so I can see the band dancing.
  9. Full interview: http://www.hitz1049.com/on-air/on-air-with-ryan-seacrest-102966/entry/935/
  10. Weird thing: Linkinpedia was mentioned by a Brazilian fan site in a post saying Invisible will air on March 19. No idea what their source is.

  12. I'm just gonna leave this here: https://vk.com/wall-1849_1463785 There's no real definition of what is art, so "random trash songs" could be considered art by some people. I understand Heavy is meant to be some very deep and personal song. I still don't like how it sounds and don't like the lyrics at all. It's funny how everytime someone dislikes a Linkin Park song someone defending it will mention nu-metal.
  13. It was the same interview that's already in the main post.
  14. The "Mike Shinoda - DJ Vice Freestyle" file was replaced on the Downloads page: http://lplive.net/downloads.php For a long time we had a fan made version there. Now we have the real mixtape version.
  15. Here's a little treat for Grey Daze (Chester's second band) fans: Andy Rodriguez of the Argentinian channel Nostalgicidio just launched a new series called Epitafios and the first episode brings us an interview with Mace Beyers, second bass player of Grey Daze. Mace talks about how he joined the band, their live shows, his relationship with Chester, recent projects, among other things. The interview was conducted in English with Spanish subtitles. Watch it below. Just a few corrections: the band wasn't formed under the name "Sean Dowdell And His Friends?", that was a completely different band; and Mace wasn't the fourth Grey Daze bass player (like we stated before, he was the second), the band didn't have that many bass players. Make sure to visit our lengthy Grey Daze Story article to learn more about the band.
  16. The credits are right under the lyrics. I'll Be Gone: "Strings by Owen Pallett"; Castle Of Glass: "Strings and horns by Mike Shinoda."
  17. To the people saying the band doesn't hate what they did in early days, we know that isn't entirely true. We all know there are songs they hate and never want to play again. I won't take Chester's commentary at the end of the video completely as a joke because, judging by his recent tweets, he seems to be a little pissed about all the hate they've been getting lately (which is completely understandable). To all the people saying it's easy for them to write a nu metal song and they could do that in a couple of minutes, I say they can do that to basically any genre and you can see that from these videos. They didn't play only one version of "Heavy", they played 3 different versions, each one in a different genre, and they didn't have to try very hard to make those versions. Each genre has its own particularities which distinguish them from the others and if you know what they are, it's pretty easy to write a generic song in any genre. We all have seen the band creating music in a variety of genres in a couple of hours or in a couple of days before. I really liked the videos by the way, pretty fun. To me, "Heavy" is a pretty generic pop song itself. We've heard Mike talking so much shit about pop music during The Hunting Party era and I don't blame people for being angry at them for releasing something like this right after that album. What bothers me the most is that even Mike himself seems afraid to admit they made a pop song with all his "genre is dead" and "I wouldn't call it exactly that" commentaries. I do agree it's pretty annoying that some people, after so many years, are still around asking them to go back to their 2000's sound. If you didn't like anything released since Minutes To Midnight, you should just move on and find another band you might like. Yes, nu metal is regarded as outdated and it's now cool to hate the genre just like it was cool to hate glam metal and new wave some years ago, but I think every genre evolves with time and either becomes or inspire something better. I always see people making comments about how awesome the instrumental aspect of The Hunting Party is (even though those people didn't really like the vocals or the lyrics), and that's pretty much a nu metal album to me. I don't want Linkin Park to make another Hybrid Theory or another Meteora by the way, but it's also okay for a band to "make the same songs over and over again" (as I see some people saying). I see a lot of talk here about bands that never evolve (AC/DC, Korn, Foo Fighters, etc.), but I don't think of it as a matter of choosing not to evolve. Those bands are doing what they like and that's the only thing that matters. If you don't like them, don't listen to their music. It seems to me that the band evolved a lot as musicians during the making of The Hunting Party and you can tell by how the band is able to just jam and improvise now (something Mike admitted in the past they couldn't do). I really wish I could see their new found abilities being put to use. Maybe taking "Mark The Graves" as a stepping stone for a more progressive sound (something that would be new to them). I'm not naive though. Like I always say, Linkin Park have always been a pop band, and I already expected them to make a pop album after The Hunting Party, with a sound similar to "It Goes Through". That clip of "Sorry For Now" sounds just like that to me (and I actually like it). What I feel about "Heavy" is that the band has spent a lot of time with the vocals and completely disregarded the instrumental aspect of the song. Mike even said himself the instrumental parts in this album were created only to back up the vocals (I really hope that this isn't as obvious in the rest of the album as it is in "Heavy"). So you listen to "Heavy" and it's all vocals nonstop for almost 3 minutes. There's no intro, no outro and no instrumental breaks whatsoever. The instrumental at the very ending of the bridge sounds really good, like it's building to something awesome but it lasts only about 2 seconds and stops abruptly. Besides, Chester's vocals in the beginning sounds just awful to me, and, like some people said, you might as well call it a "Kiiara featuring Linkin Park" song because she takes over the entire song after the first verse. Sorry for the long post, but I haven't posted my opinion about any of this before.

  19. Here's an update: We recently discovered a version of the 9-track demo dating from January 7, 2000 (the previous version we had dated from February 11, 2000). This means the demos contained in it must have been recorded in 1999. We know the band had been in Warner since November. The 8-track demo was sold on eBay as a "1998 demo CD" and was released by LPLive as a "1999 demo", but the 7-track demo later released by LPAssociation says the demos contained in it date from February 2000 (note it says "Demos From", so it isn't necessarily the date of the CD). This means the 9-track demo is actually older than the 8-track demo. Last year, LPCatalog discovered a version of the 6-track demo dating from April 25, 2000 (the previous version dated from May 8, 2000). The 7-track demo has "Linkin Park" actually printed on the CD, contrary to other CDs where "Hybrid Theory" was covered and "Linkin Park" was written by hand. This means the band had already decided on a new name by the time the CD was produced. We know the band officially changed their name sometime in May (they still played shows under the name "Hybrid Theory" that month, but I think that's because they were already booked before the name change) because that's when the linkinpark.com domain was registered. A certain member of our team has a theory that the band took care of the problems regarding their name only after the recording of Hybrid Theory (their debut album) was already done, so it's possible the Studio Finals CD dates from May 7, 2000 instead of July 5, 2000 (no reason why an American label wouldn't use the American date format anyway). This theory would also explain the existence of a demo tape under the name "Hybrid Theory" containing final versions of With You and Points Of Authority.
  20. So the Mercedes commercial they were filming is actually the music video?

  22. On top of "Heavy". "E More Light". You can't see the first letters.
  23. Looks like it's a song: http://lplive.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=12128&page=7&do=findComment&comment=266026
