  1. My point is that it's not really very tactful of you to appear to be saying these things about something so ... legendary happening more than a stone's throw from you. Tons of people are probably wishing they lived where you do, and you just sound a bit ungrateful. I regularly go to festivals without knowing half the line-up and I always have fun, if you only ever sit at home refusing to go to something because you don't know a majority of the acts, how do you know you aren't missing out on a band you end up really loving. Festivals are the best places to discover new music and just soak up loads of great bands
  2. Most UK festivals don't do big online streams of full shows. I have no idea why but its certainly not a management thing - the UK just doesn't stream stuff for some reason. Probably to force greater ticket sales(?) speaking in "green", you will um... need to resize that. Maybe a post link? Sorry, haha
  3. Yes, the SSE Hydro - 13,000 seats and the outside is laid with "pneumatic translucent cushions, made possible by using a special film originally developed for the space industry. This will allow natural light to illuminate the foyers during the day and the arena to ‘glow’ at night" (Wiki). Mike and Joe would be all over that - material tech. (remember the recharged ferrofluid globe?) And "green" lighting systems - that's LP and MFR summed up in a building..
  4. Dude, you live closer to Donington than a good 7/8ths of this forum. A train to Nottingham from Edinburgh is 5 hours and ~£50 (if you don't have a railcard), I know this because I am doing that exact journey this month, purely to see just two bands at an indoor show. Once you're in Nottingham you can then get a bus (leaving the nearby bus station every 30m) that goes direct to the festival gates, I know this because I did this journey last year. Also, we have no idea if this is a one off date yet, there may not be many big venues in Scotland but don't you think that Glasgow's new multimillion Hydro venue is somewhere the band would want to play? There are thousands of people who are literally continents away from Download, and other potential dates, who would gladly be in your shoes following this announcement - spare a thought for them while you moan about a festival not being in Gretna Green...
  5. I'm going to wait and see if I can get hold of a day ticket when they go online - it gives me time to sort travel/earn money/organise APFMH overnight (ba-dum TSH!) I'd feel bad missing out on LP @ download for the 2nd time running and HT in full is just too fucking special to pass up if it's like, a train journey away. I may rethink my plans if they do HT in full on separate tour dates, but I figure that's unlikely, we'll see I guess. With You, POA, By Myself & APFMH are some of my favourite LP songs and, well, that'd be just... ace. Anyone up for a total nerdgasm? Just think of all the song stats we'll get to update..
  6. day tickets go on-sale closer to the event, only weekend passes are available at the moment. but like AndOne says, this is just one date out of many - I would urge people to wait and see the rest of the line-up/potential further dates on a tour before booking. also, I feel like this is necessary -
  7. I'm not convinced you'll get HT in full in an arena show (given Chester's comments above) but you never know.
  8. yup. ~£80 for a day ticket alone, could easily get you into 2 uk arena shows.
  9. merged. I expect everyone's typing this frantically in Got News
  10. seriously? I really liked them. I sometimes feel like printed lyrics and "this is how we wrote the song" stuff can distract from the 'art' of the thing and be a bit cheesy. although I guess LP had to do it for meteora when there were all those "they didn't write the songs - it's all manufactured!" rumours going around in the HT-era. that said, if a band prints lyrics but only has like four lines from each song, that annoys me. "ohhh when our keyboards break, keyboards break, I'll be gahhn"
  11. I've always assumed what Geki's said, although I guess it could also be tht you're not meant to know/there is no meaning/open to multiple interpretations but it has the best sleeve/liner art ever. the ATS deluxe vinyl package has an alternative CD-size booklet with even more cool art in it too, mostly variations on the standard release but still. ATS is my favourite album art-wise
  12. having just got round to listening to this today, I'm really glad I didn't go for any special box-set or vinyl copy of this album... some of it is ok, but I'm not losing my shit over it - I'm not wild about Mike's remixes particularly.. will probably buy a CD when they get cheap - I do like ALTNC, Roads Untravelled Remix, and the Rubin Reboot is oddly fun. it's nothing compared to Reanimation, but I think we were always going to be disappointed after that
  13. Does anyone have any information about the release of LP vinyls? I keep seeing things on eBay like: Hybrid Theory. Clear vinyl. 1/1000, shipping on or after November 4th Meteora. Gold vinyl. 1/1500, shipping on or after November 8th I'm not massively interested in buying them, I'm just wondering if they're official releases or not..
  14. I certainly recognise the name 'Enferno' but I might be making up a reference to LP.. I didn't get the LT release Remixes so I'm not sure
  15. haha fair enough, I only heard that one since Numbrocker had tweeted about last year at least I think it was last year... how many of these tracks have been already released/heard before recharged was released/leaked? from memory, we had - 1 A LIGHT THAT NEVER COMES (Linkin Park x Steve Aoki) 3 LOST IN THE ECHO (KillSonik Remix) 7 ROADS UNTRAVELED (Rad Omen Remix feat. Bun B [EDIT: I see why we didn't close brackets there] 9 BURN IT DOWN (Tom Swoon Remix) 10 UNTIL IT BREAKS (Datsik Remix) 15 BURN IT DOWN (Paul Van Dyk Remix) * but there could be more, I'm guessing we had both BID's Skipees!? we need you!
  16. that's been out for a while, had you not heard it before?
  17. my point was that things like ATL, Blackbirds etc. could easily have been put onto a CD-S to make people actually care about the new singles, without having to go through this massive hassle of, say, creating a game to get them released.. sure, the LPU is about offering dedicated fans a new and interesting perspective on a track they know and love, but it still always gets put online for free, so it's not an exclusive club anymore.. I loved LPU9 because it wasn't just stuff that could have been put on a CD-S, it was mostly too niche to exist outside of the LPU - and that's what's needed to make people renew their membership; something that the casual fan might not care about, but that really excites the hardcore bunch
  18. so no posting links/asking for links all clear? thanks.
  19. because we'd been spoiled by 9, 10 and 11! this is the main problem I see with LP - the LPU idea seemed to set up this notion that the cool stuff couldn't be used as B-sides becuase it could be stored up for other releases. granted, we would probably have only ever got 'completed' demos (ATL, A.06, My December, High Voltage, etc) and would have missed out on the more subtle/vocal-less demo stuff, but think it does suck that the LPU CDs are the only place anyone will ever get to hear some genuinely unusual tracks. if, in the future, LP stops doing the LPU cd (for whatever reason) I hope that the Cd-S's get some real kick on them, it might make me want to give a crap about the sort of stuff that pops up on ebay: "Lost In The Echo maxi single *rare* 1 track Chester Bennington Mike Shinohduh"
  20. thank you. seriously, it's midnight where I am and I'm logging in purely to keep LPL out of the shit..
  21. this. the only way I'm able to road-trip is that the bands I am willing to travel for, are still relatively cheap and play lots of venues in multiple cities close together. LP is neither of these things
  22. as lazy as I think those releases were, I still count them - they're all we have! haha I know, I was being picky with EPs
  23. for a moment, I genuinely thought that that Ford Focus park assist ad was part of the video...
