  1. "Just drag it out" was ultimately confirmed to have been part of a discarded attempt at putting vocals on A-Six.
  2. Was surprised to see how many of Julien-K's recent shows are completely missing from the liveguide, seems like only some of the shows with Pig were added, even though there were numerous other dates in between? I nearly went to the St. Paul show a month and a half ago and was surprised that it wasn't on the guide, for instance. https://www.songkick.com/artists/576896-julienk/gigography
  3. Another thing that popped into my head, should they end up deciding to go with a new singer - following the plane crash that killed a couple band members including their singer in 1977, once Lynyrd Skynyrd started performing live again a few years later, they always performed Free Bird as an instrumental with a spotlight on an empty microphone stand. They played everything else "normally," but they made it a point to have that tribute as a regular part of the show for the next decade. I think part of what turns people off from the idea of a new singer is that it may seem like they're carrying on in a "business as usual" manner without really acknowledging Chester. I think if they made it a point to incorporate a tribute to him like that as a regular part of their performances going forward, it may go over a lot better.
  4. Adam was a HUGE deal when he was on Idol. Introduced a lot of new viewers to the show and generated a buzz not seen since the days of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. He also had two Top 40 singles (one that peaked at #10) before joining Queen.
  5. Yeah, leave the hologram thing to like...Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Tupac. This is a completely different type of scenario. I don't think changing the band's name should be a requirement. For one, there already were numerous Linkin Park songs that featured little or no vocal input from Chester while he was alive, and they were still Linkin Park songs. On top of that, as with any situation like this involving a band that has ascended to this level of the music industry, it's not just a band, it's a brand and business, and obviously SOMETHING has to be figured out as to what to do with it moving forward, music or no music. On the other hand, just given the fact that I REALLY can't see them truly "replacing" Chester in the sense that they just go out and find another singer...if the band continues, particularly as a touring act, they're almost going to have to "reboot" their live show for the simple fact that they can't exactly go on tour and play a bunch of old songs without Chester to sing them. They'd almost have to put 90% of their back catalog behind them and tour based off a select few Mike-centric songs and new music. In that sense, it would almost be like a new band because they wouldn't really be playing all the old Linkin Park hits on tour anymore. Maybe a name change would make sense to go along with a mostly-fresh start, if they choose to go that route...but I don't think they should HAVE to change the name either if they don't want to.
  6. Finally getting around to listening to Charlotte 2004...while I think Mountain View and Somerset are both better audio quality, I think this performance might be the definitive show from this period. The band is in absolute top form.
  7. I can't imagine they'll end up playing these shows. If they continue as a live band it's going to require a pretty lengthy regrouping period, which I'm sure will culminate in some type of public re-introduction of the band. They're not going to schedule anything else in support of OML after everything that's happened, so I just don't see the point in them going out of their way to throw something together for 3 shows just to honor a commitment.
  8. Paul Stanley (KISS): https://twitter.com/paulstanleylive/status/888121906640994305 Chanyeol of K-Pop group EXO posted a clip of him covering Heavy as a tribute: https://twitter.com/_real_pcy_/status/888413457300635648
  9. I wish he could be here, even if it was only temporarily, just to see how loved he is...
  10. I guess trying to get back to a little bit of "usual" stuff here... -The first performance of Sharp Edges in Berlin was the only one where Rob added any percussion in the background. All other performances were just Brad/Chester. -The Grey Daze reunion show has obviously been cancelled. In addition to Chester, Sean, Mace, and Jason, the band lineup was also set to feature Cristin Davis as a second guitarist.
  11. My preference, if they continue, would be to just continue as a 5-piece and have Chester's vocals on playback with an empty mic stand under a spotlight at his spot at the front of the stage. Maybe collaborate with other artists in the future but never actually try to replace him. I don't think you can replace him anyway, you'd need two people to cover everything he could do vocally, and you're never going to replace his stage presence and personality. But ultimately, my preference means nothing and I'll support whatever decision they make. It's too soon to be thinking long-term anyway.
  12. I've got a lot to say and I just can't come up with the words yet. I'm sorry to everyone in this community that I've ever been an insufferable prick to. I can't forgive myself for the negativity I know I've helped breed at times. I know that probably isn't responsible for how Chester was feeling, and yet...
  13. Album covers tend to be subject to stylization, so I tend to go with how the title is written on the spine of the CD case when it's questionable.
  14. R.I.P. Chester's voice, lol.
  15. Various clips of Chester vocals from other parts of the song run through some kind of formant editor (probably Melodyne) to change the vowel sounds and overall timbre without actually changing the pitch. It's in the same octave as what Chester sings normally.
  16. He's specifically referring to his bandmates in Linkin Park vs. the original line being in reference to Styles of Beyond.
  17. There was an official campaign with a couple fansites (it may have even just been LPA, I definitely know they were involved) during the ATS era to make lyric videos for several songs. Same reason Keaton's Blackout lyric video is in that playlist.
  18. Not sure what you mean, he always starts with the chorus. Started in exactly the same spot and same way he always does when the Invisible > RTN > WFTE transition happens, he just stopped after one repeat of the chorus, right about at the point where the RTN/WFTE mashup instrumental would normally start to come in.
  19. Hell, just tune everything from MTM onwards down half a step like HT/Meteora. Chester didn't REALLY start straining his voice until stuff like Given Up came out anyway. RTN outro to Invisible sounds like Mike just momentarily forgot WFTE wasn't in the setlist, lol.
  20. 2 biggest setlist questions at this point: -Was Sharp Edges a one-off for Berlin? -Has Battle Symphony been dropped completely in favor of Nobody Can Save Me?
  21. I hear it now. Weird though that when the camera pulls back at 2:05, Mike's mic is nowhere near his face...
  22. You can clearly see that Mike isn't singing anything at that point...
  23. inb4 LP talks more about how this album was written with lyrics first, only for us to mysteriously end up with 3 or 4 "instrumental" tracks from the OML sessions on the next LPU CD, lol.
  24. Yeah, Invisible is set to be a single and is getting more of a subtle push with the James Corden airing just taking place and whatnot. Makes sense to go back to the initial festival set but keep Invisible and drop Battle Symphony instead. I like the idea of having one consistent set with rotating song slots in it, personally.
  25. If the logistics of rescheduling a full show this late are too crazy, I'd hope they'll at least do a stripped-down show like the NYC subway performance somewhere. Full band for a few songs/Mike and Chester (and maybe Brad) could do some more. They could at least pull off a 45-60 minute set I'm sure.
