  1. That's a shame, considering Matt Skiba can actually sing.
  2. Definitely better than nothing, but given the 2005 VMAs situation, I'm not really inclined to believe that the full track is only a minute long. Same goes with the 30-second intro to Into the Badlands, and I know for a fact the theme for This Is Life is longer than the 30-second version in the show. I just wish whenever Mike did a project like this, he'd take it upon himself to release the music in one way or another, because that's the only way we could really be sure.
  3. Yeah, after watching it again I see it. In the wide angle shot, it totally looks like that camera is coming up the stairs that are closer to the stage that you can see in the second shot. Just seems off because of the lack of depth perception from the first angle.
  4. Doesn't matter. It's a Linkin Park song on a Linkin Park studio album, and if they don't want people to believe that they endorse the use of that word and all of the connotations that go with it, they should have made the executive decision to not allow it. As an unapologetic feminist ally, I'm going to be judging them VERY harshly for this for a VERY long time.
  5. I don't think I've EVER used the term "selling out" unironically at any point in the nearly 14 years I've been part of this community, but I have to say that Linkin Park allowing a line that refers to "hoes" to appear on an album is something that meets my definition of selling out. I realize this line was already crossed with the I'll Be Gone remix, but that was a remix, after all.
  6. Wastelands was also in Guitar Hero Live, although apparently with the way audio is handled in that game the "multitrack" would basically just be 2 tracks, one with the guitar and one with the rest of the song. As for Roads Untraveled, that one's news to me but if it's legit it's probably a result of someone having connections to people who were involved with the Living Things: Remixed and/or Recharged projects. The thought of that being out there excites me because Roads Untraveled is easily one of my top 5 songs I'd love to have stems for (Castle of Glass, TLTGYA, Easier to Run, and Robot Boy fill out that list for me).
  7. Not to mention Chester teleports halfway down the runway from one shot to the next. They clearly did multiple takes.
  8. Andy Wallace mixed Hybrid Theory. Credited engineers are Steve Sisco and Matt Griffin, in addition to Don Gilmore and Mike Shinoda.
  9. Most of the DVDs have 5.1 audio. I know Live in Texas does.
  10. This isn't unprecedented from them. Let's put it this way, if nu metal had somehow remained popular during the gap between Meteora and MTM, their third album absolutely would have been the "Hybrid Theory Part 3" they've always sworn they would never make.
  11. Highly likely that the instrumentals are the same source we already have. Unauthorized stuff like this wouldn't have access to official material so if they're the real instrumentals they were probably just downloaded from the Internet by whoever is making this.
  12. Chester's voice is doing its typical "sound good for the first few live appearances and then start getting all pitchy and strained-sounding" thing. More than a little concerning that this is already happening after a few sporadic promo appearances where no more than 4 songs have been performed. I mean, I know jetlag is a thing, but c'mon, the guy's even working with a vocal coach these days, you'd think his endurance wouldn't get WORSE...
  13. demetruis04401. I paid a few extra bucks for expedited shipping on mine since the sale price was so cheap, if you were wondering why I got mine relatively quick. No further correspondence on my end, btw.
  14. Well, I received my Amazon order of what was supposed to be Rapology Vol. 11 today...and opened up the package to find a copy of Tune Towne XI. Completely different Urban Network compilation series, with none of the artists mentioned in the original item listing on the tracklisting of the CD I received. Contacted the seller and got my money refunded (guy literally responded in less than 5 minutes and said he'll see if he has the correct CD to re-ship to me), but I'm not holding my breath that I'm actually going to get a copy of the correct CD, considering there are no further copies of Rapology 11 listed for sale at the moment. So I have a copy of a completely unrelated ridiculously-hard-to-find rap compilation, but that may be as far as this lead goes. Sorry guys.
  15. Jeremy was actually Mike's guitar tech at the time. Sean was still working with Brad at that point but he actually missed the Japan trip that year too (he joked that Brad didn't want to go because he wasn't going).
  16. Yeah, it's mostly the same instrumental track that appeared on the LPU CD, actually. Different intro, a few things tweaked here and there, but generally it doesn't sound like a whole lot was re-recorded.
  17. LOL WOW. Okay so first of all, this is clearly a live vocals, pre-recorded music performance - NOTHING Joe, Rob, Dave, or Jeremy are doing for the first half of the song lines up with the audio. I literally thought the video was just horribly out of sync until the vocals came in. The vocals are like 2 bars behind the track for that entire portion, and all of the instrumentalists are playing in sync with the vocals, not the audio. Probably a case of the track being played in their in-ears not being synced with the playback of the audio going to the broadcast feed. What I don't understand is how they randomly manage to get back in sync without any apparent confusion after the first chorus, lol.
  18. No. With the exception of a percentage of artist royalties paid directly to band members because they're Warner Brothers artists appearing on a Warner Brothers album, people who perform on a song but aren't credited as songwriters (in this case, Rob, Dave, and Joe) don't receive ANY royalty money. Mechanical royalties, synchronization, and live performance royalties exclusively go to songwriters. Great article explaining this: http://www.tunecore.com/blog/2011/08/im-in-a-band-but-im-not-the-songwriter.html This doesn't necessarily mean the other 3 guys aren't getting paid. There might be some arrangement between them, the label, and the credited songwriters where they receive an overall share of profits regardless of where they come from, or they could be under contract to Linkin Park in a way that the band essentially functions as their employer and they're getting paid a certain amount of money regardless of what they do (in which case, you could argue that they're not technically "band members" anymore). But regardless, something changed, because the previous six albums always credited all members equally.
  19. It's not the band's fault that people like you are taking a singular quote that pertained to the writing process behind a singular album out of context and interpreting it as if it's supposed to be some goddamn "THOU SHALT NEVER WRITE POP SONGS" manifesto that the band has to be held to for the rest of their fucking career. LP put Wastelands on The Hunting Party after saying prior to A Thousand Suns that they were "throwing out anything that sounded like Hybrid Theory/Meteora," but I don't see you complaining about that or calling LP hypocrites for it. ^ New personal policy of mine, I'm keeping the above text saved so I can copy-paste it every time you or anyone else cite this quote out of context as some kind of justification for your bullshit.
  20. I got a shipping confirmation on Monday and have tracking info.
  21. Excited to learn that even if there's nothing musical involving the band on it, sounds like Rapology 11 may at least have Joe's artwork on it. My copy should be arriving in the next few days, I'll keep you guys posted.
  22. Didn't realize it was a personal attack against you to use the Quote button on a public forum, LOL. You think I pick and choose your criticisms out of everything? You're fucking delusional. You always have been. This is a 5-page discussion with very few replies that I deemed worthy of individual response, and elected to address my thoughts on a variety of opinions posed in this thread via the general statement before your post that I quoted, which was the only post in the thread expressing your particular viewpoint. Compare that with the 24-page monstrosity the LPA topic has grown into and the cesspool of garbage I had to wade through to make it to the end, and you end up with this: http://www.lpassociation.com/forum/threads/linkin-park-battle-symphony-full-song-leaked-online.42896/page-24#post-1424529 But no, I TOTALLY just have it out for you. Keep on thinking that.
  23. LOL, you guys...this is so much better than Heavy, it's laughable that any of you would put it in the same league. "Could've made this in ten minutes?" SERIOUSLY? There's so much stuff going on in this song I don't even know where to begin. The vocal production on this may not be as dense as Heavy, but there's a ton more going on instrumentally. Lots of layered keyboard and guitar sounds, that main stuttering loop thing sounds like a vocal idea that had a ton of work done to it, I'm pretty sure those are live strings in the buildup to the last chorus...not to mention how many variations on percussion sounds there are in different spots. Just because it's pop doesn't mean it's easy...production-wise, this is seriously one of the most ambitious things Linkin Park has ever released. Chester sounds way better on this than he does on Heavy. The melody is better than Heavy. The chord progression actually changes at some points, unlike Heavy. This song actually has a proper intro and ending, unlike Heavy. If One More Light has a song like this on it, Heavy should've been a throwaway co-write for Kiiara's next album where she could just sing the whole song, because a song like that has no business sharing space on an album with something as vastly superior as this. This should've been the first single, but yay for popstar guest spots taking priority over songwriting... My biggest criticism of this song is that the lyrical idea seems really disjointed, like it's a bunch of sort-of-related ideas stitched together to form a song, but it doesn't sound like a consistent narrative the whole way through. Seems like something that would normally go through some lyrical re-writes. In that regard, I can agree with some of the "sounding like a demo" comments, although I doubt that's the context most of those comments were made in to begin with. Heavy is one of the worst tracks in the Linkin Park catalog. If Heavy's like a 2 out of 10, this song's easily a 7. Still hung up on the idea that a singular quote made in reference to the thought process behind the creation of a single album should somehow be considered a binding contract not to make a particular kind of music ever at any point in the future, huh? I don't see you bitching about Wastelands existing despite the "throw out everything that sounds like Hybrid Theory/Meteora" comments made in reference to the writing process for A Thousand Suns...oh wait, Wastelands has big heavy guitarzzzzz, so it should be put on a pedestal and be immune to criticism. I see.

Believe this, I'm only in it for the fiends And mean every single sentence that I scream It's just the sound as the breakbeat kicks That's got us all dancing in the mist Believe this, I'm only in it for the fiends And mean every single sentence that I scream It's just the sound as the breakbeat kicks That's got us all dancing in the mist (Always prevail, the human third rail, I exhale the smoke from Molotov cocktails) One two, one, one, yeah, one two (Always prevail, the human third rail, I exhale the smoke from Molotov cocktails) Ha, ha, ha, Cash Double-Oh, Xero, 818, you know? That's how we do (Always prevail, the human third rail, I exhale the smoke from Molotov cocktails) Xero, 818, you know? That's how we do (Always prevail, the human third rail, I exhale the smoke from Molotov cocktails) Yeah, check it out, y'all, check it out, Cash Double-Oh Tell your grandparents, tell your brother and sister, tell everybody, ha One two, ha, ha, one two, ha, one two Just like that Yo, can you hear me? ------------ Corrections/references/notes: -Lots of stuff was missing on this originally - the bridge was completely absent, as were a lot of the ad-lib/sampled parts. Lots of little corrections here and there too, mainly a couple things on the chorus and a lot of the first verse being in past tense. -The "Always prevail, the human third rail, I exhale the smoke from Molotov cocktails" sampled line comes from 007's verse on Spies Like Us by Styles of Beyond. -Not 100% sure on the "pop and lock the axe in" line but it definitely ends with "the axe in." -The much-debated PCP line is "like BDP on PCP." BDP refers to legendary hip-hop group Boogie Down Productions. -"DMC" refers to Run DMC, obviously. -"Cash Double-Oh" is another name for 007 (this name is also mentioned before his verse in Spies Like Us). -Mike and 007 are both ad-libbing at the same time over the outro, so a lot of stuff is hard to hear but I included as much as I could make out. -007 appears during the intro and outro, in addition to his sampled lines. Mark does backups on the chorus and I think I hear him in a few other spots too.
  25. Corrected lyrics for Drop (still working on Fiends): Hi We're back Kenji, Artofficial Rapology 13 Why do these people have to get in my way? I'm losing more and more pity for idiots every day Say what you want about my outlook, I'm pessimistic But you're the one who watches Jerry Springer's guests with their shit schtick Just the other day, I saw my neighbor on the show Cause her crack-smoking kids were fucking a dog when she came home from work And it was her bestiality videotapes and crack rock that gave them all the ideas in the first place Not even worst case scenario, it's everywhere I turn Rap records still coming out talking about how they got money to burn And Joe can't get his turntables fixed And this hunchback repair man with a hairlip is a fucking lunatic When all we gotta do is fix the AC cord that blew out And this dude's charging us seventy-two bucks to take the screws out (that's ridiculous) I'm fed up and I'm doing all I can do to move to a deserted island And make my own shit out of coconuts and bamboo The world's nothing but a can full of idiots The world's nothing but a basket full of stupids The world's nothing but a bucket full of morons I don't wanna talk to you so don't look at me The world's nothing but a can full of idiots The world's nothing but a basket full of stupids The world's nothing but a bucket full of morons I don't wanna talk to you so don't look at me Now I'm starting to think that Kaczynski fella had a good point My grandpa's popping Valium and Viagra, smoking joints Cause the doctor said it would cure his anxiety attacks But the reason he's so anxious is he's doing all that smack And my cousin Pete the phone sex freak went to Vegas with one of the operators And she drove off in his Mercedes And he went around town alone and he gambled all his cheddar Now he and Grandpa sit at home and shoot heroin together But that's what happens in a world of hedonists and heretics Teachers get paid less than cops and psychotherapists Cause it's pretty damn important to give you a ticket for a headlight So you can get home safe and visit Charles Manson's website Or see the shrink to get your head right Or get on the road and get hit by a slobbering drunk driver running a red light Or get murdered by Mr. Green in the alley with a lead pipe Or sing the chorus because it's alright The world's nothing but a can full of idiots The world's nothing but a basket full of stupids The world's nothing but a bucket full of morons I don't wanna talk to you so don't look at me The world's nothing but a can full of idiots The world's nothing but a basket full of stupids The world's nothing but a bucket full of morons I don't wanna talk to you so don't look at me (Hey boy, what you sayin'?) ------------ Corrections/references/notes: -Pretty sure the line in question with the Jerry Springer reference is "with their shit schtick." The censorship on this song is just reversed, but it almost sounds like "shit" is repeated immediately after the censored part. I reversed the audio to confirm that the censored portion is indeed "shit," so two words that sound almost identical, one being worthy of censorship and the other not...I feel like that's the only way the line makes sense. -"Kaczynski" refers to Ted Kaczynski, better known as the Unabomber, an anarchist recluse of a man who killed three people and injured 23 others in a series of bombings where he hid bombs in packages sent via mail. Him "having a good point" probably refers to Kaczynski's views on society expressed in his lengthy essay, "Industrial Society and Its Future," also known as the Unabomber Manifesto. -It's "hedonists" in verse two, not "heathenists." -"Or get murdered by Mr. Green in the alley with a lead pipe" is a reference to the 1985 film Clue.
