  1. My wish for LPU 17 is that there will be an LPU 17. A CD that's actually obtainable in a physical format would be nice, too.
  2. Surprised it took this long for them to announce this, honestly. It just doesn't make much sense for them to throw something together to fulfill 3 shows. If they had a more extensive additional leg of the tour ahead of them, maybe, but they're not going to be ready to make a permanent decision a week after Chester's memorial show, so why go to the trouble of making a temporary one?
  3. Flight booked. I'll be getting to LA the night before the show and leaving Sunday night. Didn't think I'd be able to pull this off, but it's happening! Looking forward to meeting a bunch of you.
  4. All promotion of Talking to Myself by both LP and their management stopped as soon as Chester died. They essentially cancelled the single release, only reason it got any airplay was because it had already been sent to radio. Chester dying didn't just have "something to do with it," it was literally the exact reason.
  5. This was a theory that I started probably 5 years ago or so. I'm pretty it's since been disproven.
  6. I think the fans are the absolute LAST people who should be trusted with a decision of this magnitude.
  7. Booklet vs. catalog songwriting credit differences are always interesting...per the original Xero cassette and the song's entry on the BMI database (which wasn't created until after the LPU 6.0 recording was released), Reading My Eyes is only credited to Mike and Mark. On the opposite end of the spectrum, you have stuff from One More Light that only credits a couple band members with writing credits in the booklet, but BMI credits all of them (this is true of everything on that album with the odd exception of Halfway Right). I've given up on understanding the matter. I don't think it necessarily means Reading My Eyes was recorded with Chester at some point though.
  8. With all due respect to Mark...the guy's just an awful singer.
  9. Mace did. Sean didn't. This is from 2015. Video of today's performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt3H503XB1o
  10. Not that I necessarily think they WILL replace Chester or that it'll work out well if they do, but from a purely logistical standpoint...Alice in Chains replaced Layne Staley. AC/DC replaced Bon Scott. Queen replaced goddamn FREDDIE MERCURY. It's not like it would be unprecedented. They wouldn't even be the biggest band to do it.
  11. If they're consistent, I'd expect the newer mixes of SOTD/NRL on this one. They've used the SOTD alternate mix consistently since the song was released on Rock Band 3 in 2012.
  12. "Just drag it out" was ultimately confirmed to have been part of a discarded attempt at putting vocals on A-Six.
  13. Was surprised to see how many of Julien-K's recent shows are completely missing from the liveguide, seems like only some of the shows with Pig were added, even though there were numerous other dates in between? I nearly went to the St. Paul show a month and a half ago and was surprised that it wasn't on the guide, for instance. https://www.songkick.com/artists/576896-julienk/gigography
  14. Another thing that popped into my head, should they end up deciding to go with a new singer - following the plane crash that killed a couple band members including their singer in 1977, once Lynyrd Skynyrd started performing live again a few years later, they always performed Free Bird as an instrumental with a spotlight on an empty microphone stand. They played everything else "normally," but they made it a point to have that tribute as a regular part of the show for the next decade. I think part of what turns people off from the idea of a new singer is that it may seem like they're carrying on in a "business as usual" manner without really acknowledging Chester. I think if they made it a point to incorporate a tribute to him like that as a regular part of their performances going forward, it may go over a lot better.
  15. Adam was a HUGE deal when he was on Idol. Introduced a lot of new viewers to the show and generated a buzz not seen since the days of Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. He also had two Top 40 singles (one that peaked at #10) before joining Queen.
  16. Yeah, leave the hologram thing to like...Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Tupac. This is a completely different type of scenario. I don't think changing the band's name should be a requirement. For one, there already were numerous Linkin Park songs that featured little or no vocal input from Chester while he was alive, and they were still Linkin Park songs. On top of that, as with any situation like this involving a band that has ascended to this level of the music industry, it's not just a band, it's a brand and business, and obviously SOMETHING has to be figured out as to what to do with it moving forward, music or no music. On the other hand, just given the fact that I REALLY can't see them truly "replacing" Chester in the sense that they just go out and find another singer...if the band continues, particularly as a touring act, they're almost going to have to "reboot" their live show for the simple fact that they can't exactly go on tour and play a bunch of old songs without Chester to sing them. They'd almost have to put 90% of their back catalog behind them and tour based off a select few Mike-centric songs and new music. In that sense, it would almost be like a new band because they wouldn't really be playing all the old Linkin Park hits on tour anymore. Maybe a name change would make sense to go along with a mostly-fresh start, if they choose to go that route...but I don't think they should HAVE to change the name either if they don't want to.
  17. Finally getting around to listening to Charlotte 2004...while I think Mountain View and Somerset are both better audio quality, I think this performance might be the definitive show from this period. The band is in absolute top form.
  18. I can't imagine they'll end up playing these shows. If they continue as a live band it's going to require a pretty lengthy regrouping period, which I'm sure will culminate in some type of public re-introduction of the band. They're not going to schedule anything else in support of OML after everything that's happened, so I just don't see the point in them going out of their way to throw something together for 3 shows just to honor a commitment.
  19. Paul Stanley (KISS): https://twitter.com/paulstanleylive/status/888121906640994305 Chanyeol of K-Pop group EXO posted a clip of him covering Heavy as a tribute: https://twitter.com/_real_pcy_/status/888413457300635648
  20. I wish he could be here, even if it was only temporarily, just to see how loved he is...
  21. I guess trying to get back to a little bit of "usual" stuff here... -The first performance of Sharp Edges in Berlin was the only one where Rob added any percussion in the background. All other performances were just Brad/Chester. -The Grey Daze reunion show has obviously been cancelled. In addition to Chester, Sean, Mace, and Jason, the band lineup was also set to feature Cristin Davis as a second guitarist.
  22. My preference, if they continue, would be to just continue as a 5-piece and have Chester's vocals on playback with an empty mic stand under a spotlight at his spot at the front of the stage. Maybe collaborate with other artists in the future but never actually try to replace him. I don't think you can replace him anyway, you'd need two people to cover everything he could do vocally, and you're never going to replace his stage presence and personality. But ultimately, my preference means nothing and I'll support whatever decision they make. It's too soon to be thinking long-term anyway.
  23. I've got a lot to say and I just can't come up with the words yet. I'm sorry to everyone in this community that I've ever been an insufferable prick to. I can't forgive myself for the negativity I know I've helped breed at times. I know that probably isn't responsible for how Chester was feeling, and yet...
  24. Album covers tend to be subject to stylization, so I tend to go with how the title is written on the spine of the CD case when it's questionable.
