  1. I wonder. Maybe something related to the HT Anniversary in October?
  2. The last leg of The Hunting Party Tour is underway, with the third show already approaching. After two successful shows in Belgium and Austria, the band's third stop on the tour takes them to Hockenheim, Germany on August 23, 2015 to perform at the Rock 'n' Heim festival! This will be the first of three shows the band will perform in Germany! When it comes to treading new ground, Germany is definitely far from being a new country for Linkin Park. In fact, it was the second European country Linkin Park had ever performed in, there first show there being back at the very beginning of 2001. Since then, Linkin Park has visited 19 German cities, making this show in Hockenheim the band's 20th German city. That's a big step! The other 19 cities Linkin Park has visited in Germany? Hamburg, München, Köln, Offenbach, Berlin, Nürnberg, Adenau, Weeze, Hannover, Frankfurt, Mannheim, Düsseldorf, Gräfenhainichen, Dortmund, Leipzig, Oberursel, Oberhausen, and Bremen. That's a mouth full. Impressive that over the last 14 years, the band has always managed to make time for Germany. If you recall last year's The Hunting Party European Tour, more than half of the shows on the tour were in Germany - 9 of 16 shows! The show in Berlin was allegedly recorded for inclusion on a live release, akin to Road To Revolution or Living Things+, but all that came from it was a live TV broadcast that had incredibly distorted audio until halfway through 'Guilty All The Same'. Perhaps we'll still see something come of it in the future! The previous two shows on the tour were anything but surprising. The band appeared at two festivals: the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium and the FM4 Frequency festival in Austria. Both shows featured the band's standard US Festival (Full) setlist that the band has been performing in some form or another over the past few months. What's most mysterious is that the band performed the setlist without almost NO rehearsals barring a short soundcheck in China last month, but took over a week to rehearse and perfect this setlist for Europe. Perhaps they have something up their sleeves for the upcoming headline shows...? That being said, it is unlikely that the band will play a different setlist at this show, but there is still hope that headlining shows may have a different result. A special moment a the Pukkelpop show: instead of ending the Ballad Medley traditionally with the piano outro of 'Iridescent', Mike performed a piece of 'Let It Go' from Frozen! Nice to see a change in the medley, even if may have been impromptu and on the spot. Let's talk about some different music - specifically, who's joining Linkin Park at this festival. The main stage opens with post-hardcore act While She Sleeps, before hard rockers Halestorm take their turn on the stage. Halestorm has appeared with Linkin Park several times throughout the year so far, with them promoting their new album Into The Wild Life (which is pretty damn good!). Appearances with LP include Rock On The Range and the Bud Light River City Rockfest. Before Linkin Park were forced to cancel due to severe weather, they also performed at Rocklahoma. Hell, they even performed with Stone Temple Pilots back in Camden at the MMR*B*Q! If The Hunting Party Tour hadn't ended, it almost seems like a Linkin Park/Halestorm tour wouldn't be too far off. Continuing on with the lineup is Simple Plan, who will open for Linkin Park at the last show of the tour in Rome, Italy, Flogging Molly, KIZ, Kraftklub (who will perform with the band again at Rock im Sektor), and the Farin Urlaub Racing Team (which is a fitting addition to the lineup, considering Hockenheim is essentially a Formula 1 racetrack). Whoever picked out the lineup certainly had their work cut out for them... This tour isn't all about Linkin Park. Making three appearances throughout the tour will be none other Mike Shinoda, under the persona of Fort Minor. He'll be making stops in Copenhagen, Berlin, and Düsseldorf (as part of the Rock im Sektor lineup; the same day as Linkin Park!) promoting 'Welcome', beyond his short solo portion of Linkin Park's shows. He performed a show back in June in Los Angeles, where he performed a wide variety of songs - from rare Linkin Park tracks like 'It's Goin' Down' to a mashup of 'Castle Of Glass' and 'Kenji', the setlist really had it all. We don't know if he'll change anything up for the upcoming shows, but it's not too far off to assume that he won't. After all, he's claimed since it's a one-man show, he can easily just practice stuff from the comfort of his own hotel room. Time will tell! Who's heading to the show? This is the band's last festival show until the end of the tour, with headlining shows coming up in Poland and Belarus. Between those two shows, Fort Minor will be stopping in Copenhagen to perform. If you're going to any of those, be sure to RSVP and meet up with some LPL friends! If you're planning on going to the show in Belarus, consider attending the very first LPLive Meetup, which will be hosted the day before the show at the TNT Rock Club in Minsk. Don't miss it! In case you missed it, we started a petition to bring back Linkin Park's live DSPs! From 2007 to 2012, Linkin Park released more or less every show (with a few exceptions) they performed to the fans, stopping them in 2013 due to lack of revenue obtained. We've proposed some changes as to how we can revive the system and bring DSPs back full force - features including fan voting, pre-2007 shows, and more! If you're interested, be sure to check out the petition and sign it! Spread the news to your friends and fans everywhere - we're aiming huge for 10,000 signatures! We can't do it without your help! In other LP news, don't miss Joe's LPU VyRT chat on August 27, before the show in Minsk! Prepare your questions for him! Check out our new exclusive, a download of an audience video of the band's critically acclaimed Milton Keynes 2008 show, better known as the performance featured on Road To Revolution. 3. Fair enough. I think it worked either way but the update is more clear
  4. Fixed for clarity. Didn't think it was that hard to understand... Four songs in the set, as opposed to the six songs from the album they played at some point throughout the cycle.
  5. The final leg of The Hunting Party Tour is underway, making it's rounds through Europe. The second show of the tour is taking place in St. Pölten, Austria at the FM4 Frequency festival on August 22, 2015! Linkin Park has been no stranger to Austria. Since their first show there back in 2001, this show will mark the TENTH performance in the country! The band's first show there occurred early in 2001, when they opened for the Deftones on their Back To School Tour. The band returned later in the year as the headlining act - a show where Wes Scantlin from Puddle Of Mudd joined the band for 'One Step Closer'! After canceling a performance at the Aerodrome festival in 2004 during negotiations, the band didn't return to Austria until 2007, on the Minutes To Midnight Tour. They ended their European Tour at the NovaRock festival, giving the country its first taste of songs from both Meteora and Minutes To Midnight. The band was direct support for Pearl Jam, but shared the stage with the likes of Hinder, Bright Eyes, and Thirty Seconds To Mars. The band returned yet again in 2008 with Enter Shikari to perform a headlining show in Graz, where they performed a new version of 'Wake', entitled 'Wake 2.0', as well as other fan favorites like 'A Place For My Head' and 'Pushing Me Away'. When touring for 'New Divide' in Europe in 2009, the band returned to Graz again, where Mike rapped the second verse of 'Hands Held High' over the 'KRWLNG' Intro for 'Crawling' for the first time. The band visited Linz in 2010 on the third stop of the A Thousand Suns European Tour, still getting used to playing new tracks like 'The Catalyst' and 'When They Come For Me'. The band yet again played at the NovaRock festival in 2011, opening their Summer Tour there, coincidentally sharing the stage with Thirty Seconds To Mars yet again. This was the second of three shows on the entire A Thousand Suns World Tour to not feature 'Jornada del Muerto' before 'Waiting For The End'. Before the show, Mike chopped up his fingers in a blender, making for a pretty gruesome scene. Luckily, Mike pulled through and played the show without problem! The band returned once more to the NovaRock festival at the beginning of the Living Things World Tour in 2012, albeit without Thirty Seconds To Mars this time. The band had to shorten their setlist at this show due to severe storms, dropping some older rarities like 'With You' and 'Runaway' to cope with their shortened time limit. What wasn't dropped were the new songs from Living Things, 'Lies Greed Misery' and 'Burn It Down'. A show was rumored in Austria in the Fall of 2012 and the Spring of 2013, but both instances seem to have been cancelled during negotiations - the Living Things Tour never had a proper European Tour! But, The Hunting Party Tour did. The band visited Austria late last year in November, on their German European Tour with Of Mice & Men. LPU Members were given a taste of the upcoming LPU XIV CD at the meet and greet, being the first time fans would hear the demo, 'Rhinocerous'. That brings us today's show in St. Pölten! While this show shouldn't be anything short of great, don't expect many surprises. It seems the band has finally settled on a setlist they feel comfortable with (for the festivals, anyway) and will be sticking to that for their festival appearances this tour. That's not to say you won't have a good time - it's a pretty solid setlist, after all. It's the first since 2014 to feature both 'Rebellion' and 'Points Of Authority' in the same setlist, as well as (upsettingly) having one of the highest number of The Hunting Party songs in it this year - a whopping 4 songs are in this set, as opposed to the 6 [and a half] the band has debuted from the album at some point or another on the cycle. As upsetting as it may be, there are more songs from Hybrid Theory in the setlist than there are The Hunting Party. Maybe we'll see that change in the headlining shows coming up? If you take a look at that pretty banner at the top of the post (courtesy of moi, might I add), you may notice the inclusion of Fort Minor in it. While there won't be much solo Fort Minor activity in Austria besides the shortened performance of 'Remember The Name' and 'Welcome' mid-set during Linkin Park, Mike WILL be doing solo shows in three locations: Copenhagen, Berlin, and Düsseldorf. Copenhagen and Berlin will both be full, headlining Fort Minor shows while Düsseldorf will be during the Rock im Sektor festival, before Linkin Park plays. In case you missed it, Fort Minor played a solo show in Los Angeles back in June, with only Mike performing with backup instrumentals. He did quite a bang up job, and can only continue to get better from here! There's no telling what Mike will play at these shows. There is a chance that the setlist will be the same as Los Angeles (in Rock im Sektor's case, likely shortened), but who knows? Mike said when coming up with songs for Fort Minor's set, he can simply practice ideas in his bedroom or even on the way to the venue, since it is only him performing. This is easier than rehearsing a song with the full band, which evidently takes a few days' rehearsal time to get down. Though, Linkin Park did do some rehearsing (a good week of it), much more than we could have expected for a setlist they performed without rehearsing at all (save for a quick soundcheck) last month. Who knows, maybe Linkin Park (and/or Fort Minor) has a suprise up their sleeves... We'll wait and see. Will anyone be heading to the show? After this show, the band plays the Rock 'N' Heim festival in Germany before starting their run of headlining shows in Poland and Belarus. Be sure to RSVP if you're heading to one of those shows! If you're heading to the show in Belarus, we have a special event planned for it - on August 26 (a day before the show), we'll be hosting an LPLive Meetup at the TNT Rock Club in Minsk! If you're heading to that show, be sure to check out our event and meet some fellow LPLers! If you're a fan of collecting Linkin Park audio, listening to their shows from home, or even just wanting to re-experience a show you may have been to in the past, this might appeal to you. From 2007 to 2012, Linkin Park sold DSPs for their shows, allowing for most of them to be purchased at some point after the show ended in order for the fans to have a copy of them. It ended in 2013 due to poor sales, but we think they could make a big comeback. Read our new petition for more details, and be sure to sign it - this could be big not only for future shows, but to get some old shows with special rarities for fans all over to enjoy! Help us reach our goal of 10,000 signatures - knowing how big and passionate the fanbase is, that shouldn't be too hard to crush! In other Linkin Park news, Joe will be hosting an LPU VyRT chat on August 27, before (or during - he doesn't do much during the eight-minute long experience that is 'A Line In The Sand', after all...) the show in Minsk. Be sure to prepare some questions for him! You can submit YOUR music for the upcoming Download To Donate 3.0 compilation album, which submissions will be judged by several major authorities in the music industry, including Mike himself. If you purchased a 'Welcome' vinyl, help LPCatalog build their interactive wall, which will ultimately (hopefully) be complete some time soon! Lastly, be sure to check out our new exclusive, a new audience DVD of the band's show in 2008 at Milton Keynes. 6. We need at least enough signatures that would allow for them to be able to breakeven with each release. Say we get 10,000 signatures, maybe 1/4 of them will actually go out and buy that. Will that be enough to achieve what we want? Hopefully.
  7. Why does everyone feel the need to post the same setlist updates three times?
  8. Note: if you're on mobile, get the Pukkelpop app to watch.
  9. Rob appears to be doing shit in the background, though. What the hell is he playing? Is it Devil's Drop, if it is Fort Minor? The only thing that I can maybe see up there is the chorus of Wastelands, maybe a solo for KTTK, or Page's parts that were in the making of for AFN. Probably none of those.
  10. Let's do it one last time, for the masses! It's time for the final major tour of The Hunting Party Touring Cycle! That's right, over the next two weeks Linkin Park will be jamming throughout Europe, visiting some hotspots as well as some new regions as well. The first stop of the tour? The band will be performing at the Pukkelpop festival in Hasselt, Belgium on Thursday, August 20, 2015. Let's start with a lesson on Linkin Park's Belgian history. This will be Linkin Park's third performance in the country, which has seen dates few and far apart. The band's first show in the country was in 2001, on the Deftones' 'Back To School' Tour. That show took place during Linkin Park's first full tour in Europe, where they performed some Hybrid Theory classics like 'By Myself', 'Pushing Me Away', and 'Forgotten'. During 'Papercut', Mike briefly stopped rapping during the first verse of 'Papercut', causing him to miss a line of his verse. The band didn't return to Belgium for entire decade, before finally performed at the Rock Werchter festival in 2011. This show gave Belgian fans their first tastes of songs from Meteora, Minutes To Midnight, and their latest release (at that point), A Thousand Suns. New songs from that era like 'When They Come For Me' and 'The Catalyst' were highlights of the show, as well as the killer opener of 'The Requiem', 'The Radiance', and 'Papercut'. The band's history can only get stronger from here! Pukkelpop also holds a special place in many Linkin Park fans' hearts, for a reason some may not expect. Jump back to a decade ago, August 2005. Head over to the Dance Hall Stage, located under a tent. Fort Minor, making their concert debut. Performing an eight-song setlist containing songs from The Rising Tied (which was released later that year) and the We Major Mixtape, as well as two Linkin Park songs and a few Styles Of Beyond covers. 10 years later, Fort Minor is back and ready to go full force. Mike's new song, 'Welcome' is all the hype, and fans are loving it live. While FM isn't performing at Pukkelpop this year, Mike will be performing solo under the name at three dates along the tour: Copenhagen, Berlin, and at Rock im Sektor. Crazy how things work out, huh? Back to Linkin Park, there's quite a few things that we can expect from this show. We have no ideas about what the band will be playing this tour, but there are a few clues that can help us narrow it down. The band has been rehearsing for a little over a week now, meaning they've had more than enough time to work out a new setlist, or even a new song. Flashback to the band's Chinese Tour last month, where the band performed the same setlist they did at the 2015 Summer Shows headlining dates in Mexico without ANY rehearsal. Why would the band rehearse to play the same setlist they did last month, that required no rehearsals? On the other hand, does the band have any reason to make a new setlist for a relatively short run of 10 shows? Only time will tell... however, based on the band's history lately, it seems that if the band DOES rehearse for as long as they have this tour, at least something should come from it. While the setlist may be changing this tour, can we expect any new songs? Linkin Park hasn't been exactly on point when it has come to doing that lately, taking a majority of their rehearsal time to practice new songs (when rehearsing 'Castle Of Glass' in 2012, it took them 2 weeks to get it down!). A few songs still remain unseen live from The Hunting Party: 'Keys To The Kingdom', 'War', 'Mark The Graves', and 'Drawbar'... three to five days to try out a new song shouldn't be too hard. The band even said that before they started their first tour of the cycle, they even practiced the entire album during their rehearsals! 'War' is rumored to have been rehearsed for The Hunting Party Winter North American Tour earlier this year, but didn't appear in the setlists. In a recent LPU Chat, Mike said not to cross our fingers for any live debuts on this tour, though... He did say he'd like to play 'Keys To The Kingdom' and 'Mark The Graves' at some point, though, but this is likely their last chance, since it's highly unlikely the band would go back to rehearse older songs from a past album on the next album cycle. What are your thoughts? Will we see some different songs played on this tour? If all goes right, it seems that this show will be livestreamed! Pukkelpop has confirmed that they will livestream the event, but that Linkin Park being streamed depends entirely on their management. They've been very lenient with livestreams this cycle, from Rock am Ring 2014 to Rock On The Range 2015, so it seems like we won't have to worry about it! This will be the third tour in a row to have a livestream - Rock in Rio USA, Rock On The Range, and Beijing were the last few! Check below for all the details on the stream. LIVESTREAM INFO Let's not forget the other bands performing a this festival! Joining Linkin Park on the mainstage will be The Last Internationale, Echosmith, Seasick Steve, Jurassic 5, Sigma, Dropkick Murphys, Limp Bizkit, and Rudimental. Linkin Park performs after Limp Bizkit, but before Rudimental, the latter of which will close the main stage. Don't fret - Linkin Park will still be getting their full headlining time slot of an hour and 45 minutes. If you're planning on sticking around for the webcast leading up to the event, be sure to check out some of these bands! Who's heading to the show? After Pukkelpop, the band heads to Austria for the FM4 Frequency festival, then to Germany for Rock 'N' Heim. If you want to meet up with some LPL Friends, make sure to RSVP in each show's respective thread! If you're not going to any of the shows, take part in the community! Our friends at LPCatalog have started an AWESOME project, creating an interactive website where you can submit your 'Welcome' vinyl jackets to help complete the mural! Take this survey by the LPU to give them feedback as to what you would like to see on the upcoming LPU XV. Attention all musicians - submit your music for inclusion on Music For Relief's Download To Donate, which will be judged by a multitude of artists, including Mike himself. Past compilations have included Linkin Park tracks made specifically for the albums: 'Not Alone' and 'Issho Ni'. Maybe we'll see another new Linkin Park song! For updates on Linkin Park news, be sure to keep up with us on social media! For the latest LP news, like our Facebook page! For awesome pictures of the band, new and old, follow our Instagram page. And lastly, for immediate updates on all news and for the show, check back on the site or follow us on Twitter! Check out the rest of Linkin Park's 2015 touring schedule here.
  11. Wouldn't be too far off, given Mike plays Pokemon.
  12. Chester's just laying back, taking it all in. It's not about caring or not, you can't just be actively doing something and be expected to give all of your feedback like that. Additionally, he's probably still in a bit of pain (it clearly shows he's still in a cast at that point) so he doesn't want to be walking around or doing something that he'd usually do. Plus, dog. They clearly cut out parts of the conversation for the sake of brevity. It's not being a "control freak" as much as it is trying to have a discussion with the band about HOW, if that song became a Fort Minor song, it would be promoted and performed live.
  13. Yeah, I realized that watching it through again. Just fixed it.
  14. A new LPTV has aired, featuring Mike showing a demo version of "Welcome" to the band for the first time and getting their feedback. Something interesting to note is that it appears that Mike has more songs worked on than just 'Welcome' - names like 'Spiral', 'All Our Days (?)' and 'Last Straw', the latter of which became 'Welcome', were mentioned in the video. What do you think? Are you interested in hearing some of the other new Fort Minor demos come to life? This was a meeting for Linkin Park demos, so other songs mentioned in it are obviously geared towards LP and not FM. But there's possibilities!
  15. Not likely they'll perform it, since they have to play in Arizona the next day. But interesting nonetheless!
  16. Something new from the band: a guitar tutorial. Right from the band's rehearsals, learn how to play the tapping solo in 'A Line In The Sand' with Brad! He takes it slow at first, then gives you a taste of how he plays it live. The band added 'A Line In The Sand' to their setlists back in May, and it's been rocking every crowd ever since it's debut. See 'A Line In The Sand' live when Linkin Park wraps up The Hunting Party Tour in Europe starting next Thursday, August 20 in Hasslet, Belgium at Pukkelpop. Check back here or follow us on Twitter for updates on the upcoming shows!
  17. Here's mine: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/3gqpvp/iama_mike_shinoda_ama/cu0jrwy
  18. Truly a beautiful moment. Never seen Chester get so close to tears (barring every time he's broken/hurt something onstage).
  19. https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/3gqpvp/iama_mike_shinoda_ama/ Let's get it going!
  20. They take fucking two weeks to rehearse a NEW song, do you really think they'll bring back a song they played like 20 times over a decade ago for no reason? The only way I see ETR coming back (unfortunately) is if they ever play Meteora in full.
  21. Chester said in a recent LPU Chat that they probably won't play it again
  22. I was going to ask this (I'll probably just copy and paste this to Reddit): For this touring cycle, you've had some very complex and all-inclusive setlists. While they are very good at piecing together every element of Linkin Park's career, there's a problem with it: it's too tightly-knit. It doesn't really allow for any on-the-spot variability. It can only change as the set is printed to change each night. Look at bands like Muse or Thirty Seconds To Mars, who have general structures for their setlists with rotating parts that can be determined on the spot on a nightly basis. Each song in the latest Linkin Park setlists are dependent on the previous (or the following) song to keep an established flow consistent through the set. The set goes from a highly energetic beginning to a slow middle that almost kills all of the energy in a sense, before becoming a mid-tempo session filled with singles. I guess I have two questions in regards to this: 1) Are there songs you feel obligated to be playing? For example, the setlist is very Hybrid Theory heavy, instead of featuring a plethora of new songs from the latest album. Is this because you feel the crowd will react more to earlier songs like "Points Of Authoity" and "Runaway" instead of new cuts like "Keys To The Kingdom" or "Mark The Graves"? Or that the singles have more of a live presence than songs like "Until It's Gone" or "Guilty All The Same"? 2) What was the motif behind the latest setlists, when the band was in the process of making them? Did you go into it expecting to make a setlist that was so complex and tight? Like I mentioned before, bands like Muse and 30STM have general structured setlists that can vary from night-to-night. Have you ever thought of going that route?
  23. REMINDER: Tomorrow's the day! Prepare your questions
