Rob Zombie just leaked this picture online, so it seems he's playing, but the rest of the lineup looks fake. Outdated LP logo Apparently appeared on the Hellfest forums awhile ago How is Guns N' Roses not headlining? EDIT: Linkin Park confirmed for Hellfest.
-
You didn't come off as douchey, don't worry But making claims like that, though, should probably warrant at least a quick Google search. Biffy Clyro is huge in Europe right now. Their new album hit #1 in several countries and headlining Reading/Leeds is a very very big thing. Definitely a proper choice for Download.
-
I don't think you know what you're talking about lol. Black Sabbath's currently on their final tour ever right now, and that's pretty big news considering their legacy in rock and metal. If anything they were a clear choice for Download this year. And they released an album called 13 in 2013. I don't quite get you're other part, but where are you getting 1.2 million copies from? I'm pretty sure THP sold under a million. Whether you want to admit it or not, Linkin Park is definitely falling in popularity, almost directly as a result of not having a big single hit from THP. Could've been Final Masquerade but like you said, the marketing was poor. Burn It Down landed the band big appearances at radio shows and poppier festivals during the LT cycle, but the whole festival scene seems to becoming "who is relevant and likely to attract people to the show." Aerosmith is a legacy act, so people will go see them regardless. Biffy Clyro is HUGE in Europe right now, and they definitely fit in with the alternative rock sound that Download is branching into (Muse headlined in 2015). SOAD is SOAD. LP is a band that survives off of hits, and that's really just the nature of music nowadays. LP's poppier sound that they seem to be heading in for this next album won't work very well in the Download setting (DL Paris is still a developing festival, and LP as a name still attracts millions of fans so they're still in the radar), especially since they have a reluctance of customizing their sets (Muse added many of their heavier tracks into their DL set to appease the crowd). LP is a big name nonetheless, so it's not like they'll never be at this festival again. They didn't play at Rock am Ring between 2007 and 2012, but they still headlined both of those years despite the gap. It's simply promoters and their management negotiating with festivals. It's kinda clear that Download needs some sort of incentive (i.e. performing HT in full) to get LP to play now so maybe it'll be a bit before they perform there again.
-
Still working through the HT Cycle for page statistics, sorry 1000 shows, wow. Gonna have to plan something cool!
-
Maybe LP is direct support for System Of A Down, in that case? I highly doubt they'd headline over any of the two announced headliners or Green Day.

The tour dates keep coming! Linkin Park is returning to France! The band has announced their headlining slot at Download Paris. The festival takes place between June 9 and 11 at Base Aérienne 217 in Brétigny-Sur-Orge, France. This should be a unique venue as it is a French army base. Other headliners include System Of A Down and Blink-182, with super group Prophets Of Rage also appearing on the bill. System Of A Down claims they are playing on the 10th, meaning Linkin Park will be on the 9th or 11th if this is true. Download Paris is one of three festivals with the Download brand: the others are the original festival in England (where the band performed Hybrid Theory in its entirety for the first time ever in 2014) and the new edition in Madrid, Spain. Download UK announces their lineup Thursday. Linkin Park will likely NOT play Download Spain (June 23-24) due to being booked for Hurricane/Southside (June 23-25) and how unlikely it is for them to play three shows in a row. This will be the first Linkin Park show in France since they headlined Paris in November 2014. Who's ready? The band will be announcing more dates in the near future - we'll keep you covered.
-
This wasn't just my first Linkin Park show but also my first concert ever. I was 11 and I only knew What I've Done at the time, so I was pretty bored at the time Little did I know what I was seeing.
-
So much negativity. Where's the hype?

It begins! Linkin Park has finally announced tour dates for their 2017 tour in support of their upcoming seventh record. The band has just announced a headlining slot at the Nova Rock Festival in Nicklesdorf, Austria between the 14th and 17th of June 2017. It seems likely the band will be embarking on a Summer European Tour like they have in past cycles performing at European Festivals throughout the summer months, so more tour dates are likely to follow. These will be the third time the band has performed at the festival: they performed there in 2007, 2011, and 2012. The tour will be the band's first tour since 2015's European Summer Tour, seeing them visit countries such as Germany, Italy, and Austria performing both headlining shows and festival shows. It's unknown exactly how this tour will play out (if it'll just be festival appearances or a mix of festival and headline), or even if we'll see any Fort Minor shows along the way, but what we do know is that it'll be great to see our favorite band back onstage. Linkin Park dedicated this impromptu performance of 'A Place For My Head' at the final date of The Hunting Party European Tour 2015 in Milan, Italy to a fan who died before he could attend the show. 2017.06.14-17 - Nova Rock 2017 (Nicklesdorf, Austria) Who's ready for the return of Linkin Park?! With tour dates popping up, that must mean that album news can't be too far away. Will we be seeing a single soon? Chester will be performing with supergroup Kings Of Chaos in December, so there are a few shows ahead before the floodgates open with LP7 hype. Still not convinced the Blackbird collab isn't a song from his own album, not LP7.
-
Not really my type of music but maybe I'll check out the Montclair show.
-
If anyone has any rumors that state LP is playing/touring there, post 'em here and I'll update the thread. It's tour rumor season, boys.
-
18 Months To Mars? Surely 30STM joins them for the final stretch of that leg of the tour

The lighting/video quality makes this look like a horror film lol Great find!

In-Depth Analysis of Linkin Park's Sales
RogueSoul replied to crazygolfer's topic in Everything Linkin Park
Interesting read, but it looks like whoever wrote this didn't proofread it, lol. I don't think its any mystery that THP really didn't have that big single the other albums did, but I don't think this guy took into account the age of the albums. Of course one of the most influential albums of the century is going to be full of tracks with streams and digital purchases far surpassing the album that was released two years ago. I think the streams for THP, though not the sales, however increasingly irrelevant a physical format is becoming may be, are proof enough that the band can still hold their ground even without a big radio hit. -
The first part of the video of July's studio update is out! This time, there's actually some interesting insight on the album... though nothing really new, since we've heard this before. It's a longer video than last month's short, minute-long confirmation that they're recording an album on the 5th studio update. It's a podcast-style video with Mike and Brad answering some questions between Brad making jokes about Washington, D.C. and Mike playing along. Here's a summary of the podcast: Q: "What has been the biggest challenge so far of the recording process?" Mike: "That's easy: this podcast... I think the challenge has been that we approached the process differently." Brad: "Our process is backwards - actually, it's right-side up." Mike: "We usually do things backwards, and this time we're not doing it backwards." Brad: "We've made so many records, and we clearly know how to make a record, and we definitely didn't take the easy way out this time. I think we dove into the fray of inspiration and it's yielded very interesting substance... The songs are shaping up so well, we want them to be as phenomenal as we share them with you, o' listeners out there in podcast world, as we imagine them in our heads." Q: What has been your favorite part of the recording process, and why? M: "You alluded to the difference between this and what we usually do. What we usually do is a little more track driven - the music of the song comes together early." B: "Ultimately, it has to evoke the vocal. It has to be e-vocal." M: "The music inspires the vocal in some degree. In this process, doing the vocals first and the chords and tempos are there, but nothing else, it almost opens up this Pandora's box of possibilities." B: "It's the ultimate paradox of choice." M: "My favorite part has been when we find that sound and stylistic presentation of a song. All it takes is a couple of sounds to make you say 'Oh, that sounds unique and different.'" B: "For me, it always comes out as, 'Oh, this sounds like the song.'" Q: What are you looking forward to next, and why? B: "It's a two part question." M: "How greedy. Can you imagine the sense of entitlement with these people?" B: "I would recommend for any of you posing questions to podcasters: just ask one question. So I'm going to ask you Mike: Why?" M: "Why not?" Q: Anything particular about this album that sticks out to you? M: "Generally, because everything is backwards... you told me the reason it had occurred to you that the process was backwards, is that it's a subtle difference - but a huge difference for us; if you skateboard, if you skate goofy then you try to skate regular... Anything like that where you're used to doing it one way then you flip it the other way: it's so awkward. Somebody might ask, 'Why would you do that to yourself? You know the process, isn't it about making the song and not ripping your hair out?'" B: "It's all about challenging yourself." M: "It was a rhetorical question, Brad. I know the answer. You don't need to tell me that." B: "I'm going to answer this literally. Wear a helmet. If you're beginning, you might wanna consider kneepads and wristguards." M: "If you want to figure out which foot you are, stand with both feet together and have someone gently nudge you forward, and which ever foot you naturally lead with, that's the foot you should lead with." B: "Nobody told me that." M: "That's how it's done." B: "That's helpful information." Yes, yes it was, Brad. The podcast is labeled as "Part 1", so we can assume a Part 2 is to follow soon, perhaps later in the month. LPU Members can watch and listen to the podcast by logging into their LPU Accounts and checking out the LPU 15 exclusive videos. We'll keep you updated on more relevant LP7 news as it comes.

Pretty sure that beef's been over for years now.

Chester and Corey Taylor at the same show will be epic.

Interesting song, though an acquired taste. You can really hear the Indian meets African influence on it, which is cool. It doesn't feel to me like this is a song that took 16-17 years to make, though. Perhaps not in a structural and spiritual way but rather by means of technology is what took this song so long to do.

Today on Mike's Instagram story, he shared a few clips of making a new beat that excited him: he took a few cowbells, played a little tune on them, then put the recorded samples through guitar pedals and a vocoder to make a cool beat. He was inspired by Michael Jackson, who in one of his songs sampled Coke bottles in the same fashion Mike did here with the cowbells. Here's the video, in case you can't see it: What's interesting about this video is that not only is it one of the first tastes of new music we've been able to hear in awhile (since the studio updates have been largely just confirming a new album is on the way again and again without anything to show for it), but we have a potential new song title revealed! At about 1:18 in the video above, you can see a post-it note with a few things written on it: one of which is 'Painted Me Wrong 2.7'. What exactly this is is unknown, but there's a lot of of possibilities: a new song? Could it be the title of the upcoming Blackbear X Linkin Park track? The "2.7" could also be a variety of things - a release date (February 7?), a version number, anything! What are your thoughts on it? We've already updated the 7th Album page on Linkinpedia, so be sure to check there for more information. We'll keep you posted on any more developments.

LPLive X has been running strong over this past week, and this may be our biggest exclusive of it all! Introducing: Linkinpedia! Linkinpedia is our attempt at creating the Internet's most comprehensive guide of Linkin Park information. It's been in the works for a long time now - we've been writing articles on it since Fort Minor's "Welcome" was released in June 2015! The wiki contains over 500 pages of content and information ranging from the background information of songs to their live histories. It may seem crazy, but this wiki has been built and written from a small team of eight people. Since this would be impossible without everyone's hard work, it's only right to recognize who worked tirelessly for hours this last week until launch on the wiki. Writers: RogueSoul SasstielExperience lpliveusername Hahninator Lestat (Grey Daze section) Developer: Dmitry Reviewers: AndOne SergSlim Project Leader/Supervision: Skipees It's been over a year since we've been working on the Wiki, so we have a lot of memories from our long journey. Here's some of our favorite moments from the course of the writing: RogueSoul: My favorite part about this whole thing was getting to know everyone along the way. It started off in a small PM group before we moved to Skype soon after, and getting to know all these guys over the course of the year has been great. Not only have I gotten the privilege of working on this awesome project, but I got to make some great friends along the way. On the wiki itself, I handled a lot of the Live sections. The earliest ones I got out of the way, I remember, were the singles from Hybrid Theory and "Bleed It Out". If you check out those Wiki pages, you'll see those sections are huge. I decided to knock those out first and get them over it... probably one of the stupidest mistakes I've made in a long time. My next task is to go back through and add in all of the tour wiki pages to the Live sections, so it'll be fun revisiting all of my little hells... SasstielExperience: Favorite part? It honestly might have just been getting asked to do it. I never would have expected Skips to message me and ask to work on what is probably the biggest project I've ever worked on. Working with and collaborating with you guys was a ton of fun, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. That or writing the COG page lpliveusername: I worked a lot on the Xero/HTEP/HT pages and it was really interesting. I had to read/watch a lot of interviews and learned a lot about the band's early years. Lestat was right, you can write a huge "Linkin Park Story" kind of page using only with the things that are already out there. It's amazing how many things people have been questioning for years were already answered. lol Hahninator: In our interview with the founders this week, I mentioned how our staff team is so big that we are able to delegate a few people to individual projects to accomplish our long term goals. This is the #1 example of what I was talking about. The team assembled here worked tirelessly for well over a year behind the scenes to get this project off the ground and to where it is today. A wiki project is an overwhelming task to even think about (hence why we haven't done it before), but they nailed it. It is a community-driven project from this point forward and they will be overseeing it. I couldn't be prouder of how this turned out and all credit is due to these guys that spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours on Linkinpedia. Skipees I remember how the current layout started in a private conversation between lpliveusername and me, it felt like we have on LPLive almost all the information but with rigid division into categories, there wasn't a place to read JUST about One Step Closer even though all the information about OSC is already on the site. The general idea of having a "Wiki" on the site dated even earlier, it was completely ditched after two other sites launched their's. It felt unnecessary at the time, and with the fifth version of LPLive we launched our own LPLive-centered Wiki which was based on information that isn't available anywhere on the web, tour summaries and differences between setlists are good examples. In the meantime we've encountered dozens of events where people posted a "fact" or asked something that didn't even made any sense (8-track Hybrid Theory EP with a blue baby cover?). When we realized this information comes from a couple LP wiki's around the web and that information which was added to one Wiki find itself to another Wiki in a matter of days and vice versa, we realized that there's a problem. While we're holding the accurate information and there wasn't a reliable place for the community to get the information from, there was only one thing to do - create our own thing. Our motto while creating Linkinpedia was "accurate as possible", if something feels like it's only 99% correct we're looking for another source before we're adding it to the site. Just for the upcoming new album page we've added 104(!) references. Our team is based on members of LPLive that shared the ability of information aggregation and data mining, as well with their own specific specialty. It is an enormous and a long-term project, but so far it was very productive and fun to be a part of. Before you ask, we're not recruiting new members for the team except from one position that should be staffed very soon and some current or former staff members that will help from time to time. We're doing this to keep the Linkinpedia consistent as possible so you can have a place to gather any information about the band's music. Remember that Linkinpedia is based a lot on LPL topics and lists that you helped to create and update, each bit of information you've ever posted on LPL and found its way to Linkinpedia - is YOUR part in this knowledge base formation. The Wiki has a lot of pages in it, so you may not know where to start. Here are some good places with lots of information to get you started on your search: Hybrid Theory Minutes To Midnight One Step Closer Points Of Authority A Place For My Head Bleed It Out Castle Of Glass Welcome Xero (Demo Cassette Tape) List Of Unreleased Songs Wiki links will be implemented into the show pages, so you will be able to click on song titles that appear in setlists and immediately be taken to their wiki page! We also have a current wiki on the site that will be implemented into Linkinpedia...this is in the works now. We won't be opening editing of the wiki pages up to the public. A lot of the other wikis (Wikipedia itself included) and pages out there were spreading misinformation, thus giving people the wrong conceptions about many songs and subjects. We've provided source information and citations wherever possible to ensure the legitimacy of the info. To prevent any false information from spreading, Linkinpedia is only able to be edited by a select number of staff. We're launching Linkinpedia as a "work in progress" - there are a lot of missing pages AND there is missing info in the current pages. With hundreds of articles written, you have to expect some mistakes. Fans and members can submit corrections, mistakes, etc. on the actual wiki itself via a form located on the sidebar on the front page, and our staff will take over from there. There are also plenty of pages that don't have all of their information written in, but they'll be written up as time goes on. If you want to help us with lyrics (because trust me, we need it), and you find a page that doesn't have lyrics written in yet, post your lyric translations in this thread! We've learned a lot about the band and their songs, as well as each other. Not only have we grown as Linkin Park fans, we've grown as friends and that has taught us a lot. Now, we have the honor of sharing it with the world, and all of you fans out there who want to learn everything there is to know! Now you can be the next Astat! You haven't heard from me a lot on this big week, and that's because I haven't been here since the start of LPL. I've had the honor of being able to work on this massive project and collaboration, and it'/ important to note that we couldn't have done any of this without you. A lot of our information came from the forums, your questions, your threads, your discussions. This wiki, and this website itself wouldn't have been possible without all of you. From all of us at Linkin Park Live, thank you for making these last ten years such an amazing journey. We hope you enjoy Linkinpedia!
