  1. Music runs in the family, it seems. Brad Delson's brother Greg Delson is releasing his own album soon, and Brad seems to be in on it! Greg, along with Brad and music partner Daniel Capellaro, is currently working on his first solo album, and it seems that the first taste of his music is coming soon. A search on the BMI Repertoire reveals the title for a track called 'Willing To Try,' with Brad being credited as a songwriter. We're not sure about much more beyond that track. We don't know the genre (though his website says "A sound and energy steeped in soul and folk, with gospel overtones"), when the song will be released, or even if Brad contributes anything to the track besides writing it. What we don't know is written on the song's Linkinpedia page - be sure to keep checking back there for the latest updates (still on the Linkinpedia grind, guys). We'll keep you covered on when the song is released, though.
  2. WOW, LP headlining over SOAD? That's big. Rebellion confirmed, I guess It seems that the UK is really the only place left in Europe that they need to gain a bit more traction.
  3. This. If I recall correctly, there was a South American Tour planned for 2014 after the Carnivores Tour (perhaps an extension of the Carnivores Tour, because 30STM went to South America during the same time the LP tour was planned). The band will almost always return to Brazil nowadays because the demand is so high there, but other countries, it really just matters how much they get paid. Lots of bigger bands have been going to South America lately - 30STM in 2014, Muse in 2015, Metallica right now, etc. so the chances are only getting higher, really. The next album cycle probably has one of the best opportunities in the band's career for a big South American Tour because the markets there are really growing.
  4. Read the thread.
  5. After a bunch of rumors circulating over the last few weeks, Linkin Park is now confirmed to be playing Hellfest 2017 on June 18, 2017. Hellfest is scheduled between the 16th and 18th of June in 2017, happening in Clisson, France. Other headliners are Deep Purple and Aerosmith. Linkin Park will likely perform on the 18th, considering NovaRock takes place between the 14th and 17th and the band plays the Impact Festival on the 15th, and I-Day Milano on the 17th. This is the poster that Rob Zombie posted on his Facebook page to announce his appearance at the festival - it has since been deleted. This is a fanmade poster - it leaked online on the Hellfest forums a few weeks ago. We cannot confirm if the rest of the lineup is real. EDIT: The festival has now confirmed a different lineup from what Rob Zombie leaked, but with both Aerosmith and Linkin Park on the bill. This is how 2017's touring schedule is looking so far: 2017.6.9-11 - Download Paris (Brétigny-sur-Orge, France) 2017.6.14-17 - NovaRock (Nickelsdorf, Austria) 2017.6.15 - Impact Festival (Kraków, Poland) 2017.6.18 - Hellfest (Clisson, France) 2017.6.23-25 - Hurricane (Scheeßel, Germany) 2017.6.23-25 - Southside (Neuhausen ob Eck, Germany) 2017.6.27 - Telekom VOLT Festival (Sopron, Hungary) Who's excited? Linkin Park's 2017 tour is shaping up - we'll keep you covered on all of the show announcements coming up. 11/29/16 EDIT: CONFIRMED finally by Hellfest! Confirmed by Linkin Park.
  6. Rob Zombie just leaked this picture online, so it seems he's playing, but the rest of the lineup looks fake. Outdated LP logo Apparently appeared on the Hellfest forums awhile ago How is Guns N' Roses not headlining? EDIT: Linkin Park confirmed for Hellfest.
  7. You didn't come off as douchey, don't worry But making claims like that, though, should probably warrant at least a quick Google search. Biffy Clyro is huge in Europe right now. Their new album hit #1 in several countries and headlining Reading/Leeds is a very very big thing. Definitely a proper choice for Download.
  8. I don't think you know what you're talking about lol. Black Sabbath's currently on their final tour ever right now, and that's pretty big news considering their legacy in rock and metal. If anything they were a clear choice for Download this year. And they released an album called 13 in 2013. I don't quite get you're other part, but where are you getting 1.2 million copies from? I'm pretty sure THP sold under a million. Whether you want to admit it or not, Linkin Park is definitely falling in popularity, almost directly as a result of not having a big single hit from THP. Could've been Final Masquerade but like you said, the marketing was poor. Burn It Down landed the band big appearances at radio shows and poppier festivals during the LT cycle, but the whole festival scene seems to becoming "who is relevant and likely to attract people to the show." Aerosmith is a legacy act, so people will go see them regardless. Biffy Clyro is HUGE in Europe right now, and they definitely fit in with the alternative rock sound that Download is branching into (Muse headlined in 2015). SOAD is SOAD. LP is a band that survives off of hits, and that's really just the nature of music nowadays. LP's poppier sound that they seem to be heading in for this next album won't work very well in the Download setting (DL Paris is still a developing festival, and LP as a name still attracts millions of fans so they're still in the radar), especially since they have a reluctance of customizing their sets (Muse added many of their heavier tracks into their DL set to appease the crowd). LP is a big name nonetheless, so it's not like they'll never be at this festival again. They didn't play at Rock am Ring between 2007 and 2012, but they still headlined both of those years despite the gap. It's simply promoters and their management negotiating with festivals. It's kinda clear that Download needs some sort of incentive (i.e. performing HT in full) to get LP to play now so maybe it'll be a bit before they perform there again.
  9. Still working through the HT Cycle for page statistics, sorry 1000 shows, wow. Gonna have to plan something cool!
  10. Maybe LP is direct support for System Of A Down, in that case? I highly doubt they'd headline over any of the two announced headliners or Green Day.
  11. The tour dates keep coming! Linkin Park is returning to France! The band has announced their headlining slot at Download Paris. The festival takes place between June 9 and 11 at Base Aérienne 217 in Brétigny-Sur-Orge, France. This should be a unique venue as it is a French army base. Other headliners include System Of A Down and Blink-182, with super group Prophets Of Rage also appearing on the bill. System Of A Down claims they are playing on the 10th, meaning Linkin Park will be on the 9th or 11th if this is true. Download Paris is one of three festivals with the Download brand: the others are the original festival in England (where the band performed Hybrid Theory in its entirety for the first time ever in 2014) and the new edition in Madrid, Spain. Download UK announces their lineup Thursday. Linkin Park will likely NOT play Download Spain (June 23-24) due to being booked for Hurricane/Southside (June 23-25) and how unlikely it is for them to play three shows in a row. This will be the first Linkin Park show in France since they headlined Paris in November 2014. Who's ready? The band will be announcing more dates in the near future - we'll keep you covered.
  12. This wasn't just my first Linkin Park show but also my first concert ever. I was 11 and I only knew What I've Done at the time, so I was pretty bored at the time Little did I know what I was seeing.
  13. So much negativity. Where's the hype?
  14. It begins! Linkin Park has finally announced tour dates for their 2017 tour in support of their upcoming seventh record. The band has just announced a headlining slot at the Nova Rock Festival in Nicklesdorf, Austria between the 14th and 17th of June 2017. It seems likely the band will be embarking on a Summer European Tour like they have in past cycles performing at European Festivals throughout the summer months, so more tour dates are likely to follow. These will be the third time the band has performed at the festival: they performed there in 2007, 2011, and 2012. The tour will be the band's first tour since 2015's European Summer Tour, seeing them visit countries such as Germany, Italy, and Austria performing both headlining shows and festival shows. It's unknown exactly how this tour will play out (if it'll just be festival appearances or a mix of festival and headline), or even if we'll see any Fort Minor shows along the way, but what we do know is that it'll be great to see our favorite band back onstage. Linkin Park dedicated this impromptu performance of 'A Place For My Head' at the final date of The Hunting Party European Tour 2015 in Milan, Italy to a fan who died before he could attend the show. 2017.06.14-17 - Nova Rock 2017 (Nicklesdorf, Austria) Who's ready for the return of Linkin Park?! With tour dates popping up, that must mean that album news can't be too far away. Will we be seeing a single soon? Chester will be performing with supergroup Kings Of Chaos in December, so there are a few shows ahead before the floodgates open with LP7 hype. 15. Still not convinced the Blackbird collab isn't a song from his own album, not LP7.
  16. Not really my type of music but maybe I'll check out the Montclair show.
  17. If anyone has any rumors that state LP is playing/touring there, post 'em here and I'll update the thread. It's tour rumor season, boys.
  18. 18 Months To Mars? Surely 30STM joins them for the final stretch of that leg of the tour
  19. The lighting/video quality makes this look like a horror film lol Great find!
  20. Interesting read, but it looks like whoever wrote this didn't proofread it, lol. I don't think its any mystery that THP really didn't have that big single the other albums did, but I don't think this guy took into account the age of the albums. Of course one of the most influential albums of the century is going to be full of tracks with streams and digital purchases far surpassing the album that was released two years ago. I think the streams for THP, though not the sales, however increasingly irrelevant a physical format is becoming may be, are proof enough that the band can still hold their ground even without a big radio hit.
  21. The first part of the video of July's studio update is out! This time, there's actually some interesting insight on the album... though nothing really new, since we've heard this before. It's a longer video than last month's short, minute-long confirmation that they're recording an album on the 5th studio update. It's a podcast-style video with Mike and Brad answering some questions between Brad making jokes about Washington, D.C. and Mike playing along. Here's a summary of the podcast: Q: "What has been the biggest challenge so far of the recording process?" Mike: "That's easy: this podcast... I think the challenge has been that we approached the process differently." Brad: "Our process is backwards - actually, it's right-side up." Mike: "We usually do things backwards, and this time we're not doing it backwards." Brad: "We've made so many records, and we clearly know how to make a record, and we definitely didn't take the easy way out this time. I think we dove into the fray of inspiration and it's yielded very interesting substance... The songs are shaping up so well, we want them to be as phenomenal as we share them with you, o' listeners out there in podcast world, as we imagine them in our heads." Q: What has been your favorite part of the recording process, and why? M: "You alluded to the difference between this and what we usually do. What we usually do is a little more track driven - the music of the song comes together early." B: "Ultimately, it has to evoke the vocal. It has to be e-vocal." M: "The music inspires the vocal in some degree. In this process, doing the vocals first and the chords and tempos are there, but nothing else, it almost opens up this Pandora's box of possibilities." B: "It's the ultimate paradox of choice." M: "My favorite part has been when we find that sound and stylistic presentation of a song. All it takes is a couple of sounds to make you say 'Oh, that sounds unique and different.'" B: "For me, it always comes out as, 'Oh, this sounds like the song.'" Q: What are you looking forward to next, and why? B: "It's a two part question." M: "How greedy. Can you imagine the sense of entitlement with these people?" B: "I would recommend for any of you posing questions to podcasters: just ask one question. So I'm going to ask you Mike: Why?" M: "Why not?" Q: Anything particular about this album that sticks out to you? M: "Generally, because everything is backwards... you told me the reason it had occurred to you that the process was backwards, is that it's a subtle difference - but a huge difference for us; if you skateboard, if you skate goofy then you try to skate regular... Anything like that where you're used to doing it one way then you flip it the other way: it's so awkward. Somebody might ask, 'Why would you do that to yourself? You know the process, isn't it about making the song and not ripping your hair out?'" B: "It's all about challenging yourself." M: "It was a rhetorical question, Brad. I know the answer. You don't need to tell me that." B: "I'm going to answer this literally. Wear a helmet. If you're beginning, you might wanna consider kneepads and wristguards." M: "If you want to figure out which foot you are, stand with both feet together and have someone gently nudge you forward, and which ever foot you naturally lead with, that's the foot you should lead with." B: "Nobody told me that." M: "That's how it's done." B: "That's helpful information." Yes, yes it was, Brad. The podcast is labeled as "Part 1", so we can assume a Part 2 is to follow soon, perhaps later in the month. LPU Members can watch and listen to the podcast by logging into their LPU Accounts and checking out the LPU 15 exclusive videos. We'll keep you updated on more relevant LP7 news as it comes.
  22. Pretty sure that beef's been over for years now.
  23. Ryu - 'I Did It Myself' 1:57 - "For delf, for dolo, the wealth, the fame, the shows, the planes, the photos, the fans that still with me see me on DeSoto Never heard of Fort Minor but they love Marco Polo"
  24. Chester and Corey Taylor at the same show will be epic.
  25. Interesting song, though an acquired taste. You can really hear the Indian meets African influence on it, which is cool. It doesn't feel to me like this is a song that took 16-17 years to make, though. Perhaps not in a structural and spiritual way but rather by means of technology is what took this song so long to do.
