  1. I was reading a comment on a different site earlier, and I do think Mike is being a bit unreasonable with the whole "genre is dead" thing. Like, you don't need a justification for making this kind of sound. Just downright say this is what you wanted to do. It's okay to compare works - that's the purpose of genre, to categorize as a means to separate different types of things that allow for comparison. Genre can be deda for sake of listening, but when something is as strikingly poppy as this, call it pop. It's almost like he's afraid of calling it what it is, as if he has something to be ashamed of. Maybe that goes into what Geki said earlier that he was bashing this very music three years ago. I believe the band wouldn't put out something they weren't happy with, regardless of the circumstances. I know it's not the case, but Mike seemingly using that phrase as a scapegoat has been bothering me lately.

  3. Rob hugged her. I doubt they hadn't met before.
  4. Love the song. The way Chester belts "Holding on" when the first chorus comes in is magical. Love the harmonies in the chorus too. The way the drums in the bridge is just awesome too.
  5. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ its been two years, I'm rusty
  6. 7am PST on KROQ, and probably around 12pm PST for iTunes and other media. This is going off the two clips that showed a time.
  7. It's been nearly two years since we've whipped out a pre-show post, but the time has now come. Hang on tight, because we're just getting warmed up here. Linkin Park are back! Tomorrow's a big day for them - the long-awaited single from their next record, 'Heavy' featuring Kiiara is due out tomorrow! That's not what this post is about, though. Later in the day, after the single is out to the radio, the band will be having a Facebook livestream, and will presumably be performing some live music! Let's start off with what you all need to know - livestream information. The stream will be happening at 12:00 PM PST tomorrow (Thursday, February 16) on Facebook. Be sure you've liked Linkin Park's Facebook page before so you get a notification when they go live! You can go to the livestream page here and have Facebook set a reminder for you so that you don't miss out. If you don't have a Facebook, you should still be able to watch the livestream, but you may want to make one just in case. If you're adamant, then here's a countdown to the stream. Be sure to check your timezone here to be sure you're not late! Livestream Information: Link: www.facebook.com/linkinpark/videos/10154919594961788/ Time: 12:00 PM PST (Compare Timezone) Countdown There's a lot of questions about this show. To be fully honest, we're not even sure if the band is playing live music! It's pretty safe to say that they will be performing, though. The band has been rehearsing pretty extensively for the last week and a half, videos and photos of the band rehearsing in Third Encore have been popping up all over. These rehearsals are likely in preparation of upcoming promotional performances for 'Heavy,' since the band's first tour dates are still three months away. Just today we got a picture of Chester with a fittingly old-fashioned guitar. The main question you probably all want to know is what the band will be performing. The short answer is: we don't know. The long answer is: we kind of know. One thing is certain: the band will perform 'Heavy.' The song we've seen the most in the Third Encore sessions is 'Heavy,' Mike even giving us a short tutorial on his Instagram story on how to play the song's intro. If the band performs 'Heavy' tomorrow, it'll be the first time the song has ever been played live! Kiiara will (probably) not be joining the band, unless she's a super secret surprise guest, so we'll get to see how the band plans on translating her parts live. The only other song we know of that the band may play is 'Lost In The Echo,' as a video of Joe playing with the samples from the song was posted on his Instagram story a few days ago. We know the band has been practicing more than just 'Heavy' at the very least, as Brad has been seen with a variety of different guitars in these sessions. What songs do you think the band will play? Another uncertainty about this show is that we don't really know where it's going to take place! The most likely place it'll be happening at is Third Encore, so the band will have all of their equipment set up and can rehearse freely. Of course, it's possible that it's not even a show and we're at some band member's house, but all signs are pointing to a live performance. Finally, it's unclear what kind of set we'll be getting. It's probably not too likely we see the band perform a full set, but it's not unreasonable to think we can get a decent amount of songs. Public Linkin Park rehearsal sets can usually last anywhere from 5 songs (see: the LPU Secret Show / Projekt Revolution rehearsal in 2008) to 8 (like the KROQ Private Rehearsal in 2013). It's likely the band has a bunch of songs they're preparing to play for their promotional performances, so it's likely we'll also see a bunch of singles. Deep cuts may be possible, though; remember that the band took weeks to rehearse Hybrid Theory in its entirety for the Download Festival in 2014. Maybe the band will even take some requests from the Facebook chat - if they do, whatever you do, DO NOT SPAM 'BURN IT DOWN' IN THE CHAT. Watch the band perform 'Lies Greed Misery' for the first time for their Rio+Social show in 2012. That set was prerecorded, but this was still the earliest known performance of the song that was shown to the public. Maybe the band will surprise us by performing an entirely new song we've never heard! All that's left to do is wait! Remember to get those reminders rolling and set your alarms, because you won't want to miss this. Linkin Park is back! This is the first of many great shows to come. For live updates on the show and news tomorrow, be sure to check back on the forums, follow us on Twitter, and like our Facebook page. After this, we expect the band will start performing for radio and TV shows soon, and maybe even perform some full warm up shows! We'll keep you covered on everything. Who's excited?! Check out our 2017 page to see Linkin Park's touring schedule for the year.
  8. That's a cool theory. It's the only one that makes any remote sense, either
  9. It's been three years since the last era for Linkin Park started. The Hunting Party era saw the removal of the circle pattern around the classic Linkin Park logo. Now, as we're ushered into a brand new era for the band, the logo has once again changed. The circle isn't back, but... it is now a hexagon. This new Linkin Park logo has the familiar LP textualization in the center of it, with a grungy hexagonal pattern surrounding it. Seems pretty edgy. We're not exactly sure what the hexagon symbolizes, but this does mean we're officially in a brand new era for Linkin Park, and that it's only good times ahead from here. If you haven't noticed, the LPAmbassadors have changed their profile pictures on social media to bare the logo in front of the flag of the country they represent. It's a bridge between the fans and Linkin Park, and this era is certainly showing signs of being one of the best in a long time. Linkin Park has gone through a lot of logos since they started out. Check out our Official Logos thread and take a walk through history and watch how the band's logo evolved from the old school Hybrid Theory days until now. Follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page - and check out our snazzy new profile pictures while they last - so you don't miss out on updates on new Linkin Park news. If you can think of any hexagon LP puns, be sure to tweet us with the hashtag #UntilItsHexagon.
  10. You completely misinterpreted what he said. He was referring to your comment about their age, not the "genre" you think they fall into.
  11. As I'm sure everyone knows, the long wait is over for new Linkin Park music. The band's new single 'Heavy' featuring Kiiara is out tomorrow at 7 A.M. PST, and Mike will be heading over to KROQ to help premiere the song on radio. The song will be playing on KROQ all day tomorrow most likely, but you may hear it for the first time ever if you tune in at around 7 AM PST. Mike will be joining the talk show to talk about the single at 7:15 AM PST (click here to check your timezone), so if you're interested in hearing some insight on the song (though, at this point, what don't we know about it?), be sure to tune in. The entire band has been on the talk show before, performing songs in the past for listeners. The first performance on the show was in 2007, when the band performed a few songs as a rehearsal set in front of a few lucky fans while they prepared for their Projekt Revolution tour. Songs in that set included 'What I've Done,' 'Leave Out All The Rest,' and the piano version of 'Pushing Me Away,' which had to be stopped and restarted due to Mike making a mistake! The band returned in 2010, where their set on the show was the first performance on the A Thousand Suns touring cycle. The set featured the live debuts of 'The Catalyst,' 'Waiting For The End,' and 'Iridescent.' A crowd was present here, too, and the band had a Q&A session in between a few songs. Watch the band perform 'The Catalyst' live for the first time on the Kevin & Bean show in 2010. It seems only Mike will be visiting KROQ, so it's unlikely we'll see the band perform and live songs. But that may come later in the day, as the band has plans for a livestream on Facebook at 12:10 PM PST - get all the information you need for that here. It's looking like the band has been rehearsing pretty extensively for the past week or so, so we can expect at least a few songs to be performed - namely the live debut of 'Heavy.' EDIT: It seems Mike will be making a variety of other appearances throughout the morning. He'll be on 102.5 KISS-FM at some point in the morning, as well as on the Zach Sang Show during the show's second hour. It is possible that these appearances will be pre-recorded. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and check out our Facebook page to keep updated on this! If Mike shares any interesting information, we'll be sure to let you know.
  12. Really not vibing Chester's recent quaker costumes If he comes out onstage screaming in a pilgrim costume, I might have to leave the venue.
  13. On the same day that the band's new single 'Heavy' featuring Kiiara is expected to be released, Linkin Park will be holding a special live broadcast on Facebook Live! The stream is labelled as a "special live event," and you can access it from this link. The stream is expected to start at 12:10 PM PST, so be sure to get those reminders in and check your timezones. Here's a countdown timer if you want it! We're not exactly sure what we can expect from this event, but we can take some good guesses. For one, the band has been rehearsing for more than a week now at Third Encore, with snippets of the band practicing posted on various members' social media. Just yesterday Mike played the intro to 'Heavy' on his Instagram story, while today on Joe's Instagram, you can see him messing around with samples from 'Lost In The Echo.' It seems likely that this will be a live performance, making it the band's first performance since November 2015 (not counting Chester and Joe's short bout in China last year). Live shows are what we're all here for, first and foremost, so let's get speculating - what song's will we see? Will we hear 'Heavy' played for the first time ever? Will the band bring out some random older cuts to add to the set? Will we see a full set or a short set (like 2012's Rio+Social event)? There's lots of possibilities, so let us know what you think! Check out this performance of 'Numb' from the Rio+Social event. Also performed that session were two then-new songs from Living Things, 'Burn It Down' and 'Lies Greed Misery.' As always, be sure to follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page so you can get the latest information about the band. We'll keep bringing updates about the livestream as they come. Let us know what you think the band are going to do!
  14. Here's a clip of Kiiara singing Heavy: https://twitter.com/lplive/status/831403064099741696 Really like her voice with these lines. Was wondering how that verse would fit in. Excited to hear how the harmonies work - and how they pull this one of live.
  15. Have you only read Geki's comments? lmao
  16. I feel stupid for just realizing that the song in today's clip is Heavy
  17. Mike talking casually about Saturday Night Live on Twitter. Maybe it's a hint that the band will be performing on the show?
  18. Mike first mentioned Emily Wright's name in November 2016 on the Facebook livestream. Looks like 'Heavy' started to really get worked on later in the cycle.
  19. I'm going to take the 17th as the date we're getting it because it's an official source (as well as the one that makes the most sense). The 21st will be when the single is released to radio. The Valentine's Day thing seems to have been false altogether.
  20. Updated with Clip #3 info. Emily Wright in the studio - she's a songwriter.
  21. According to Warner Music Thailand, it looks like 'Heavy' will be released on February 17.
  22. Straight from the thread regarding the music video: "The synopsis claims that 'interesting characters meet in a therapy session!'"
