  1. How can we get the Stagelight samples? They released a new pack is what you are saying?
  2. I don't know what it's for but I don't understand people disputing that it's actually LP vocals on the track, whether it's for Blackbear or for LP.
  3. Source? Where did you hear that?
  4. Changed the city these venues are located in, according to their latest Google Maps / Live Nation / venue address: East Troy, WI -> Elkhorn, WI Quincy, WA -> George, WA Marysville, CA -> Wheatland, CA
  5. In late July, we reported that Chester guested with Royal Machines, the modern day evolution of Camp Freddy, on July 21st in Cleveland, OH. Many of you will remember back from 2006 to 2012 when he joined Camp Freddy at least ten times, delivering quite memorable performances. Camp Freddy eventually disbanded and evolved into Royal Machines. Most of the Royal Machines shows are private, invite-only performances. This is why the news of Chester guesting with them took a few days to come out. Here's a pretty solid intro video that the band did to give fans an idea of who they are and what they are about. On July 21st, at the same time as the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, OH, Dave Navarro used the opportunity of having a day off on the Jane's Addiction U.S. Tour to perform with Royal Machines. This was a charity event for the Boulder Crest Retreat, which is a private wellness center for active duty and reserve military members and their families. It was the third time that Royal Machines were able to play a benefit show for the Boulder Crest Retreat. Chester, who is quite busy with Linkin Park and his family, has had to turn Royal Machines down in the past but finally had an opening where he could fly out and guest with them. Franky Perez, who guested at the show this summer with The Hellcat Saints, also joined the band. Due to Royal Machines playing a private event at the Cleveland Public Auditorium to an invite-only crowd, the news that first hit the web about the show was inaccurate. Fans, including us, were quick to throw "an RNC after party" description on the event, which while it was held at the same time as the RNC, it was completely unrelated. However, later in the night, it's rumored that several members of the band were able to shake hands at another after party with several elite Republican party members (NOT Donald Trump). Royal Machines recently posted a short recap of this show on their website, saying, "The band returned for the third time to play a benefit show for the wounded warriors of Boulder Crest Retreat. This time the show was in Cleveland, and, bringing with them Gilby Clarke, Chester Bennington, Franky Perez and Billy Gibbons, they played for 90 minutes and delivered an unexpected finale from Perez and Bennington of the Led Zeppelin classic, Whole Lotta Love, and the Guns N Roses hit, Paradise City." SETLIST: 01. Are You Gonna Go My Way? (Lenny Kravitz cover) w/ Donovan Leitch 02. Just What I Needed (The Cars cover) w/ Donovan Leitch 03. Rebel Yell (Billy Idol cover) w/ Billy Morrison 04. Wonderwall (Oasis cover) w/ Billy Morrison 05. Panama (Van Halen cover) w/ Franky Perez 06. Highway To Hell (AC/DC cover) w/ Franky Perez 07. Tie Your Mother Down (Queen cover) w/ Gilby Clarke 08. Knocking On Heaven's Door (Bob Dylan cover) w/ Gilby Clarke 09. Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who cover) w/ Gilby Clarke 10. Good Times Bad Times (Led Zeppelin cover) w/ Chester Bennington 11. Vasoline (Stone Temple Pilots cover) w/ Chester Bennington 12. Mountain Song (Jane's Addiction cover) w/ Chester Bennington 13. La Grange (ZZ Top cover) w/ Billy Gibbons 14. Foxy Lady (Jimi Hendrix cover) w/ Billy Gibbons 15. Sharp Dressed Man (ZZ Top cover) w/ Billy Gibbons 16. Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin cover) w/ Chester Bennington & Franky Perez 17. Paradise City (Gun N' Roses cover) w/ Chester Bennington & Franky Perez We can already see that guesting on five songs out of seventeen is pretty substantial for Chester. That's the most he's done in quite a while. An interesting fact about this set is that 'Whole Lotta Love' was listed as the last song of the night, and the band members on the spot decided to play 'Paradise City', which Chester stayed on stage to sing with them. Now wouldn't we love to have video of that! Sadly, due to it being a private event, no real videos have surfaced from it...only a couple of small clips. This is usually the case for super-exclusive shows as most in attendance don't actually realize what legendary performances they're actually witnessing. Here's a few facts about Chester's guest spot: - This show marks the third time that Chester performed a Stone Temple Pilots song without the rest of the band since his Grey Daze days, with the first time being his Dell World 2012.12.11 appearance with Camp Freddy ("Sex Type Thing") and the second time - his 2016.06.14 "Let It Die" party appearance with The Hellcat Saints ("Down"). - This show marks the sixth known time that Chester performed Jane's Addiction's "Mountain Song", including 4 performances with Camp Freddy and 1 performance with the same group of people (Dave Navarro, Chris Chaney and Stephen Perkins) during the Black Tooth Bash event (they just weren't billed as "Camp Freddy" for some reason). - This show marks the eighth known time that Chester performed Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love", including 6 performances with Camp Freddy and 1 performance at the above-mentioned Black Tooth Bash event. - This show marks the seventh known time that Chester performed Guns N' Roses' "Paradise City", including 4 performances with Camp Freddy, his appearance at "Slash & Friends" gig on 2009.11.22 and his 2016.06.14 "Let It Die" party appearance with The Hellcat Saints. It's also the first time he shares the lead vocals duties on the song with a different guest - Franky Perez. Both of them also shared the vocals on "Ace Of Spades" at the above-mentioned "Let It Die" appearance. - This show marks the third known time that Chester performed Led Zeppelin's "Good Times, Bad Times", including his 2008.05.08 appearance with Camp Freddy and his appearance at "Slash & Friends" gig on 2009.11.22. Now that he has finally joined Royal Machines once, it wouldn't surprise us if Chester made another appearance with the band in the future. If that does indeed happen, we'll gladly let you know and do another writeup. After zero guest appearances from 2013 to 2015, he has appeared on stage twice this year already. Linkin Park has no solid plans until 2017 so we might see him somewhere else at a show this year. Thanks to LESTAT for helping with the writeup, gathering the pictures, and assembling the show page for the performance.
  6. Followed up today, just got the set. I'll do the post tonight or tomorrow
  7. Who has the album? Listening to it now....really surprised at how diverse it is. That's a good thing, to me. Pretty enjoyable listen.
  8. I don't think it's talking negatively about Chester if we say he might have been at his prime at these 2006 shows. I don't know how drugs, alcohol, etc affect the voice but we all know he was going through some serious shit around this time (05-06). His voice at the 2006 shows sounded abnormally ridiculously good and I'm not sure if he later injured it in the studio recording for Minutes to Midnight screaming. These shows have a really unique sound to him...look how effortlessly and flawlessly he switches between screaming and singing. From The Inside is epic. I agree that he has had fantastic performances since then. I saw the Orlando 2015 show (my 30th LP show) and I immediately recognized he hadn't sounded that great to me in person since 2012. Rock am Ring 2007, Summer Sonic Tokyo 2013, Orlando 2015, etc are all good examples of his voice being in great shape. Why we don't see this at Milton Keynes on the Road to Revolution DVD is that it was the third show in three days for him. I hope the band eventually takes a day off after every show or at least every two shows to preserve his voice as long as possible...it's worth it in the long run. He isn't BAD but you can easily tell which shows are two in a row or three in a row for him. Anyway these 2006 performances are just strangely incredible vocally, at least in my opinion. The entire show he's bringing it 110%...he's never sounded exactly the same since.
  9. We don't often take looks back at older tours, but we felt this one was an interesting one to write about. This weekend marks ten years since the infamous Linkin Park trip to Japan in August 2006. After the Meteora World Tour in 2004, Linkin Park took a break for some personal time to themselves and then to eventually write their third album. With label issues and both Mike and Chester wanting to do side projects, Linkin Park took the back seat for a period of time for Fort Minor, which released The Rising Tied in November 2005, and Snow White Tan, Chester's band that was later renamed to Dead By Sunrise. As we've seen in several LPU demos and interviews with Mike, LP did indeed write some music in 2005, but not a lot. The bulk of the writing sessions for Minutes To Midnight really began in 2006. Fort Minor toured in 2006 from January to May, around when Linkin Park was confirmed for four shows in Japan to take place in August. These would be the band's first shows in a year, since the one-off Live 8 performance in July 2005. From September 2004 to April 2007, Linkin Park performed just six shows and one TV performance....the longest break from the stage in the band's career. It was safe to say the anticipation for the August 2006 shows in Japan was quite high. From our recollection, the first setlist picture came out from their club show at Tokyo Zepp, a venue they had last played in May 2001, and one show later, the small 15-30 second clips of the set were being uploaded to YouTube. Instantly, we saw LP had completely changed their live show in many ways. For the first time ever, One Step Closer no longer closed the show. Instead, it closed the main set and came before an encore that featured Breaking The Habit closing. The most surprising inclusions on the setlist were the first LP performances of Reading My Eyes, a Xero song, and the debut of a brand new song - QWERTY. The first 20 second clip of QWERTY attracted tens of thousands of views on YouTube and if we look at Rob's LPU 6 newsletter Q&A, these small, bad quality YouTube clips possibly influenced the band to later release the song on the LPU 6 CD. These rarer songs also define the era as QWERTY went on to be played just a few more times in 2007, in full, and Reading My Eyes was brought back for just a few shows in 2008. The 17 song setlist to this day is still arguably one of the best sets the band has played live. New intros were debuted and the band also debuted the first piano versions of My December and Pushing Me Away at these shows. After years of searching, we finally were able to obtain the proshot video of QWERTY from Summer Sonic Tokyo and release it to the public....now amassing almost 1,000,000 views. Fortunately, great audience recordings also exist for three of the four shows - Summer Sonic Osaka, Summer Sonic Tokyo, and Summer Sonic After Sendai. The TV special from the festival also includes some proshot footage...one big highlight being From The Inside. What we see in these recordings is the band having a great time reconvening on stage after such a lengthy break from performing, and a very energetic and fun setlist. Another highlight from Summer Sonic 2006 is that it marked the first time Mike performed two shows in one day. This happened twice, at the two big Summer Sonic shows. Earlier in the day, he played a full set with Fort Minor before taking a break and playing the full Linkin Park show. This is something that was not repeated until Fort Minor actually opened for Linkin Park on the same stage at Düsseldorf's Rock im Sektor 2015. Since Holly Brook was unable to make the trip to Japan, Chester filled in on Where'd You Go during the Fort Minor set. Linkin Park has gone on to play Summer Sonic Japan on two more occasions...once in 2009 on the International Tour for New Divide, and once in 2013 for Living Things. While we are in the middle of quite a long break now ourselves, waiting for a new LP album, it's a much different world. Social media in 2006 wasn't nearly as prevalent as it is now, and the downtime from the band's activities really felt like the fans were isolated from the band for a long period of time. In 2016, we are able to get Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter updates from band members at any time...even video streams from the studio and podcasts. In 2006, the most we would get for a while after a show is a 20 second cellphone video, a show review, and that was it. It's hard to put into words how big of an impact these shows had on the fanbase at the time...but I assure you it was massive. The Japan visit was one of the shortest and most unique periods in the band's career. If you have time this weekend, take a listen to one of the 2006 shows, available to download here.
  10. Getty can be double checked, they list all the show info. Let's look at their database, find that picture from 2004 (easy to just search for Linkin Park 2004 and scroll to it) and confirm where/when that picture is from.
  11. Great points. Also, the article is interesting. Snoop definitely didn't come out at Camden, Atlanta, or Somerset, but the article is from the Camden show saying he's come out for It's Goin' Down already. That means it happened in the first 8 shows of the tour at some point. We previously thought it was at just this show: http://lplive.net/shows/db/2004/20040830
  12. When Mike says they tried several vocal treatments on the track, it's indicting to me that it was a part of the Meteora sessions. They had nothing else to record for in 2003 and didn't widely record on tour as they did for Hybrid Theory. Sure, Mike was at home for a few months but did he write music? Who knows. Maybe not as they spent so much time touring that year. I think it's more feasible to believe that it's from 2002 with the rest of the Meteora instrumental batch and is simply mislabeled like a few of the other LPU demos. It's 13 years ago, they probably saw "Meteora" and tossed 2003 on it. I could be wrong, but that's what I think. And it does indeed sound post Meteora.
  13. "Attached (2003 Demo) is the fifth of six free tracks available for download bi-monthly exclusively to LPU members." "Attached" is the 11th song from LPU 15, with one bi-monthly demo remaining that is due in October. The track is a 3:28 instrumental that was previously-unknown before this release. It is possible the song is mislabeled (as others have been) and is really from 2002, as the Meteora sessions wrapped up extremely early in 2003 (finishing vocals, mixing and mastering for the album). "Attached" is a Meteora-era song, but without the loud, explosive guitar from that era and instead featured sampled drums and samples by Joe and Mike over a poppy beat. LPU members can download the song here. Mike's track-by-track video can be seen here. Mike says he even thinks the song came from a later batch of songs, meaning it sounds a little past the Meteora time. Unfortunately, vocals didn't work on the song.
  14. If a band member is absent they are also able to use this method to still soundcheck with 5/6 of the band. I saw this at Sunrise 2011. Brad was sick and was playing the night's shows but was not able to play the soundcheck. Pooch has multitracks of every song already, since they had already all been played. He'd just sub those in through the PA for the guitar, while the rest of the band played. Pretty cool. Mike actually gave a speech about how they NEVER do that live but were doing it at soundcheck for a special situation. I might have it on video somewhere.
  15. Setlist incoming, talked with the guy today. Super nice. I'll post it when I get it with a nice recap.
  16. Nothing at all yet. I emailed Royal Machine's management to see if they could help me get some information. When I did that with The Hellcat Saints, I got a response ASAP. It shouldn't be a problem, I'm sure they'll reply.
  17. See, everyone jumping to conclusions and it was a charity event for the military. He did go to some RNC after parties, but that means nothing.
  18. Just because he played with friends, especially Jane's Addiction (one of his favorite bands), doesn't mean he's being supportive of any of the candidates. For all we know, it could have even been a protest event like Prophets of Rage was doing.
  19. https://twitter.com/ispycc/Here. Maybe DM her for some info. http://www.lifezette.com/popzette/rocking-the-conventions/Maybe one of these events? Can't find anything.
  20. We have learned that Chester was in Cleveland, Ohio on the 21st, the same night as the Republican National Convention, but guested with Royal Machines for a charity event. Royal Machines is the modern-day Camp Freddy. After Camp Freddy disbanded, Dave Navarro started Royal Machines as an all-star jam band and this is the first time Chester has joined them. Dave Navarro, as you know, founded Jane's Addiction, one of Chester's favorite bands. While Jane's is on tour right now, this was a one-off for Royal Machines. You can see a picture Dave Navarro posted with Chester that night here. Royal Machines Facebook: "Time to clear the air: Yes- we are playing in Cleveland, Ohio on July 21 at a charity event for Boulder Crest Retreat for Military & Veteran Wellness. I believe this is the 3rd of 4th time that we have had the opportunity to be a part of raising funds for such a great facility. This is not a political event and it is not a part of the RNC. In fact, we'll probably be onstage when the nominee is speaking. Don't believe the hype." We are looking for more information about the show, such as what songs were played or where exactly it took place.
  21. Touring looks to begin in March as of right now.
  22. I'd like to see them return to the full song format of 18-20 songs per show and alternate 3 setlists again. Fans really lost all incentive to see multiple shows this past touring cycle. When they did put a new set in, it really wasn't that different. Different sets before had exclusive, rarer songs and even catered to the more hardcore fans in ways. I don't understand why they won't dedicate one spot in the set to an older, rarer song we'd like to see (Reading My Eyes, P5hng Me A*wy, A Place For My Head, etc). Of course I personally think Burn It Down, LOATR/SOTD/Iridescent, and Final Masquerade are all boring live. They are standard songs that aren't interesting and that's the best time to use the bathroom if you're at the show. At the same time, I know casual fans love those songs, or appear to at least. Where they shine in more recent times is with songs like Guilty All The Same and A Line In The Sand, both of which they'll probably drop the next touring cycle unfortunately. I'm all for sacrificing some singles for some lesser-played songs and they can STILL have 12+ singles per show if they do that, no problem. They also shine when they hit home runs on stage with these older songs that are full of energy. From The Inside, Lying From You, A Place For My Head, Points Of Authority, and Somewhere I Belong. Great songs. Other small changes that would be nice to see: - Swapping Given Up (overplayed recently) for No More Sorrow's return - Drop the shortened songs and play full versions However, I know they don't want to play too much Hybrid Theory or Meteora live. Completely understood and if they want to drop most of those songs, hell, go for it. We'd all love to see more recent lesser played songs like: - Lost In The Echo (live heavyweight they completely dropped for some reason???) - Powerless (great song that seems easy to play...not sure why it didn't ever get played) - In My Remains (dropped) - When They Come For Me (probably the MOST interesting and fun song live in the entire catalogue) - The Little Things Give You Away (great song that would be better than the Ballad Medley) I'd love to see them play some different songs like those listed above.
