  1. Linkin Park has sent out a second studio update to their email list and here's what it says: "Greetings from our new studio headquarters. We’re in a pretty low-key area on the northeast side of L.A. Nearby, there are ethnic restaurants, schools, dance classes, used car dealerships, martial arts studios, nail salons, palm trees, and the usual L.A. traffic. It’s The Valley, dude. The main room is where the vocals and foundational songwriting is coming together, along with Mike’s beats and Brad’s guitar. Next to the main room, there used to be a lounge…last month, Joe decided to “move in,” and he turned the lounge into a second studio, so now we’re multi-tasking. Joe brought in a lot of his sonic toys and keyboards, and turned the hangout room into a mad scientist lab. We’ve been talking a lot lately about how grateful we are for such a long career in music. Being together this long means having a need for regular reinvigoration. We have to keep things interesting and, for us, part of staying engaged is continuing to learn. That search for growth sometimes happens when we’re playing with new music gear, new techniques, or new people—and, as some people have noticed on our regular Facebook streams, all three are going on right now. While we have no idea what the songs will turn into, or which will make the final cut, we’re excited to have a ton of creative momentum, and looking to see how things develop. Most of the stuff we’re writing is still focused on the words and melodies, not sounds or style of the song. We just want to tell honest stories first; we’ll get to the rest later. We’re still in the early stages of the album, but we plan to keep posting info and live feeds to give you guys a peek into the studio as the album progresses, so make sure to follow us on all your favorite social media. Talk to you soon… LINKIN PARK" Nothing here is new - we know they are at Larrabee Studios in LA, that they're experimenting with new music, and that several guests are in the studio with them, but they did confirm the album is still in the early stages.
  2. The melody on this one sounds better to me than the Aoki songs. This is a different "style" of EDM...it's the type I like. Listening to Garrix's set, he has some good music in there. Not bad. The Aoki style of EDM I'm just not a fan of. Those songs were poorly executed to me while this song sounds a lot better creatively.
  3. Updated the thread to include Chester. Actually I like it better than ALTNC and DTB.
  4. Lots of stuff being done today, so here's a recap of what Jonas and I worked on together and then some other stuff I did: 2000 Changes: - Deleted 2000.09.22 Syracuse, NY - Added 2000.10.16 Houston, TX - Deleted 2000.10.26 San Francisco, CA (Canceled) 2001 Changes: - Added quite a bit of information to 2001.08.01 Cleveland, OH - Added 2001.09.13 London TOTP (Canceled) Tour numbering changes: We decided on a few ground rules for the tour numbers, and we are correcting it across the guide. We recently noticed a few inconsistencies for older tours and the numbering used. Funny enough, some shows were even counted twice in the same tour if they were made up. 1. For an announced tour, only the TOUR shows are counted. 2. Additional performances (not for the public shows, promo shows, radio/TV shows, etc) are 1 of 1. The only exception for this will be the MTM Promo Tour or promo tours for press stuff when album cycles generally begin. 3. Makeup shows are not counted in the numbering. They will be 1 of 1. The 2001 Hybrid Theory European Tour is a good example of this. Sweden and Denmark were canceled before the tour began. They aren't on the list of tour dates for this tour. So 9 shows in 16 days comes from the 9 normal headlining shows they played (and the canceled Hamburg). 1 of 1 shows are TOTP, BBC Maida Vale, Milano MTV Live. This is the most confusing tour for the numbering, easily. The 2011 ATS North American Tour now is 34 shows in 40 days, so the extra makeup shows aren't counted. MWT04 will be like this too. Most of the tours are already ok, so we only needed to fix a few. Lastly, I forgot that I added this a few weeks ago: 2003.08.28 New York City, NY Did a lot of research on this and MTV originally announced LP was performing.
  5. The EDM artists love to play the new music before they release it. I wonder if Garrix will include this on his album.
  6. Great job getting this guys and ripping it to excellent quality. Both Gas Station Breaks and PR Breaks have HT.
  7. Recently, a vinyl that Joe used on stage popped up in the community that fans hadn't seen before and after some research, it appeared that it was legit (and unreleased). We already are familiar with two of Joe's vinyls (Tasty Gas Station Breaks and Projekt Revolution Breaks), which we've offered up for download before. This one is titled "Mr. Hahn Fucks Up Meteora Style"...we are unsure if that's a confirmed name or not by Joe, as it could just be a street nickname for the vinyl. LPCatalog just bought the vinyl, had it ripped professionally and has a download ready for us now, complete with a FULL rundown by Astat: "You guys might know the backstory on this already...it's Joe's scratch/sample vinyl from the Meteora touring cycle. It contains a lot of what I expected, however I was not aware of the fact that Joe used this vinyl EXCLUSIVELY for Meteora songs, and apparently had a separate one for all of the Hybrid Theory stuff (he may have continued using the Gas Station Breaks vinyl for some Hybrid Theory stuff, or he could have had new vinyls pressed). At first I thought deciphering some of these samples would be kind of difficult, but luckily Joe made it easy by sequencing the vinyl in the same order as the Meteora tracklisting! Remember, as these are vinyl samples largely used for scratching, it's hard for a DJ to see specifically where on the vinyl a sample is located. That's why the majority of these samples are looped for so long - it gives Joe a better chance of finding the right sample he's looking for the first time he drops the needle." Side A: 0:00 - 1:17 - Don't Stay scratch (Joe's scratch sample in this song is primarily a clip of Chester's vocal at the end of the chorus) 1:18 - 2:31 - Somewhere I Belong main scratch 2:32 - 4:40 - Somewhere I Belong ending synth/scratch 4:45 - 4:52 - Lying From You intro (individual samples without the scratching/panning effects) 4:52 - 6:06 - Lying From You "tire screeching" sound effect 6:07 - 6:09 - Hit the Floor beeping sound effects (from second verse) 6:10 - 7:24 - Hit the Floor scratch #1 ("turntable winding down" noise at the end of the first chorus, also used for the bridge scratches) 7:24 - 8:38 - Hit the Floor scratch #2 (used in both verses, primarily based on a sped-up clip of a Chester scream from By Myself) 8:38 - 9:23 - Hit the Floor verse droning effect #1 9:23 - 10:31 - Hit the Floor verse droning effect #2 (slight variation on previous sample for when the droning sound builds in intensity near the end of the verses) 10:35 - 10:37 - Easier to Run flanged guitar sample (this is played at the very end of the bridge of Easier to Run, there's oddly also a small snippet of the previous Hit the Floor droning effect at the very end of the sample, I think this may have been a pressing error on the vinyl) 10:37 - 11:47 - Easier to Run "ticking" samples (mainly heard in intro) 11:47 - 12:01 - Easier to Run droning synth (mainly heard in intro) 12:01 - 14:35 - Easier to Run scratch/drone (used for wind-like sound effects in the intro, as well as shorter scratches in other parts of the song) Side B: 0:00 - 0:08 - Faint intro strings 0:10 - 1:24 - Faint staccato samples (Joe plays these during the Faint chorus) 1:24 - 2:39 - Faint verse guitar samples (Joe doubles Brad during the verses using these) 2:39 - 2:54 - Figure.09 intro synth 2:55 - 3:02 - Figure.09 breakdown synth (section between second chorus and bridge) 3:02 - 4:18 - Figure.09 bridge scratch 4:18 - 4:34 - Breaking the Habit "glitchy beats" + explosion sample 4:34 - 5:49 - Breaking the Habit scratch (the same sample is also used as the basis of the scratching in Points of Authority) 5:49 - 7:03 - From the Inside scratch (this is a combination of the "break" vocal from the end of One Step Closer, and the "you" scream from the From the Inside bridge) 7:03 - 8:17 - From the Inside synth/white noise samples (these show up in the verses and the last chorus) 8:17 - 9:32 - Nobody's Listening scratch (vocal clip from High Voltage remix) 9:32 - 10:46 - Session misc. samples (used for scratching/other sound effects like the slowed-down drone at the end of the song) 10:46 - 11:41 - Numb droning effect (heard in the background throughout a lot of the song) 11:41 - 13:45 - Numb scratch (basically the previous droning effect with some additional, more distorted sound effects on top of it to give the scratching more "edge") As far as when this vinyl was used on stage, here's what LPC and Astat say... "It was first used on stage on February 23, 2003 and then through the Meteora World Tour, including the two Texas shows in Houston and Irving, which ended up on the Live in Texas live CD/DVD release. 2007 was when Joe started using Scratch Live software, I think he had both new and old material put on there at the same time so this record probably wasn't used after Japan in 2006." Download the vinyl via LPCatalog here. Enjoy!
  8. What all shows are included? I just got a bunch of VHS tapes of 2001 shows.
  9. Two days after 9/11. It surely was canceled. The 9/14 show barely happened too. We'd have seen some pics or something at the time. It's worth a look into the old fansites, and we'll definitely add the date but if it happened we'd know about it. Canceled most likely. Great find.
  10. I agree with not being anywhere close to done. They'll definitely announce some live dates in the October, November, December part of the year, though. If Mike says the album is coming at the end of the year, he's probably right.
  11. *raises hand* Too confusing to keep changing the format. DVD is good.
  12. Nice find, didn't notice that.
  13. We have an "LP7 New Album Updates" thread but we wanted to drop a quick post about album activity for those of you who aren't following it closely. The guests in the studio are still happening. Jon Green was in the studio on February 24th (live video), and was spotted in the studio in January as well so he might either be just visiting several times over the course of a few months or he could possibly he lending his hand at producing a song or more. Most recently, Conner Youngblood (from the recent Download To Donate album) was in the studio on March 7th. The band broadcasted a live video of it, where you can hear a clip of them working on new music. Interestingly, they use a theremin on the track. On March 10th, Mike, Joe, and Phoenix visited Sweden to meet with Mercedes. Mercedes sponsored the Chinese leg of The Hunting Party Tour in 2015. The next day on March 11th, Mike, Joe, and Phoenix visited Warner Bros in Hamburg, Germany. There is also a live video of that. To be meeting with the label already means the band is likely showing them some new music. LP might be further along than we think...their Instagram is full of studio pictures from the last few months and they've been working consistently on new music since September at Larrabee Studios. Not putting anything past them, they could also be in Germany to meet with MLK to book German tour dates for the second half of 2016, when the album is due out. They've done in-person negotiations with MLK before, so that could be a part of the trip if they're already looking at their schedule for the rest of the year. Whatever is going on in Europe with three band members is definitely related to the new album process in some way, though. None of this is groundbreaking information, but the process is definitely well along and they seem to have made significant progress on new music so far. We don't have a guess as to when they'll release a single or when the album will come out (besides Mike saying sometime past June 2016), but the band has released their lead single before when the rest of the album isn't quite finished yet (see: A Thousand Suns, The Hunting Party). We'll keep you updated as the new album cycle gets going.
  14. The fifth venue (Winston Salem)on that list I just saw a show at last month, didn't know LP ever played there. Lots of interesting stuff on the list. 10/8 it says Brad out for Cincinnati. 10/9 looks like when My December was recorded in Nashville. 10/16 in Houston @ Numbers...we don't have that show listed. The tour laminate says the 10/26 San Francisco show was the date it happened. Itinerary sheet says 10/26 San Francisco and then 10/27 Sacramento, but no venues listed. It was a radio show so we can probably get a real date somewhere. 10/28 Phoenix is listed as being 10/30, but that obviously isn't right. Looks like the very end of the tour wasn't confirmed yet. We have most of this right, just missing 10/16 Houston and we need to confirm 10/26 or 10/27 San Francisco.
  15. Yes, both will be black. Looks like the original is white, yeah. http://lpcatalog.com/item/2012_living-things
  16. Some of it is just too expensive, but we did get some of it. The tour itinerary for the 2000-2001 shows is pretty important since those aren't all 100% confirmed. For example, I've already noticed 3+ differences for the band's late 2000 tour dates versus what we have listed here.
  17. Is it really just these two? Or are they going to do more possibly? Because Living Things is very random, like you said.
  18. Yes, confirmed with LP management.
  19. It's not often that we uncover new setlists from so long ago, but we recently were able to obtain the setlist for a 2001 show that was previously unknown. The 2001 US-to-Europe Tour was a string of US, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and European festival and headlining dates from April to June 2001. Linkin Park played their first Rock am Ring show, they played two shows at Rock im Park in one day (filling in for a missing Slipknot at the second one), and visited several countries for the first time. Sandwiched between the three Japan shows and their five show trip to Europe were two US festivals, one in Tinley Park, IL for the Q101 Jamboree on May 19, 2001 and the other in Washington, DC for HFStival on May 28, 2001. The 35 minute HFStival show was released in 2007 online and is a good listen. We just obtained the Tinley Park setlist: Just looking at it, you can see some big differences from the other 2001 shows. Papercut opens the show instead of With You or A Place For My Head (like the rest of the US-to-Europe Tour). By Myself is near the top, and the whole order is different. With Ozzfest coming up, the band was likely trying out different show openers to see what they wanted to start the set with. At the beginning of Ozzfest, they tried A Place For My Head and Points Of Authority before settling on With You. One thing that's interesting about it is that you can see "Mellow Interlude" listed. Usually, Joe's interludes were listed by name in 2001 (LEE Interlude, SHORT Interlude, and FALLING DOWN Interlude). This "Mellow Interlude" comes four shows before the first known appearance of what fans have always called "Be Yourself" (some call it "In Yourself") over the years. "Be Yourself" is a little short jam, about a minute long, that was confirmed to have been played at Rock im Park (show 2), Rock am Ring, and the first show of Ozzfest in Tinley Park (not the Q101 Jamboree show). It's possible that it showed up a few more times, maybe on the US-to-Europe Tour or at the beginning of Ozzfest, but it disappeared shortly after Ozzfest began. It's referred to "Be Yourself" because that's what Chester sang over it at the second Rock im Park show. It also came after High Voltage at that show, like Tinley Park. Our guess is that the piece was just a short little jam the band came up with in rehearsals to play live. Perhaps it was part of a song at one point, maybe not. With it listed as just a short "Mellow Interlude" on the setlist, we are assuming it was just that - a short piece to play between songs and nothing more.
  20. Along with the upcoming Record Store Day 2016 releases by Linkin Park and Fort Minor, we can now confirm that Linkin Park will also be reissuing two other vinyls in June. June 3, 2016: (black vinyl) - Living Things LP - Reanimation 2xLP Amazon currently has listings for both (Living Things and Reanimation) on June 26 and April 29, respectively, but both dates are incorrect and they will both be released on June 3rd.
  21. Yeah that's how it is in the USA, that's why it's easier to buy online here afterward for more. It takes quite a lot of time to do it in person.
  22. Lots of cool releases on RSD this year, as usual. Always hard to get them in store since it takes travel time, hours of waiting in line, etc to get them. I'd rather pay $10-20 more for it and just grab it on eBay.
  23. http://thebanginbeats.com/2016/02/23/preview-linkin-park-castle-of-glass-arctic-moon-remix/ I think this is an official remix. "Polish uplifting trance producer and DJ Tomasz Popielarski aka Arctic Moon is adored by the Trance family for his hard hitting trance productions and immersive sets. Be it his originals, remixes or mashups, Arctic Moon has never failed to deliver an astounding trance track, time after time. The Pole has now taken Linkin Park‘s 2012 hit single ‘Castle of Glass‘, from their album Living Things, and given it a complete uplifting trance makeover. Retaining the original melody of the track, Arctic Moon introduces a hard, thumping bassline and an infectious synth line, interspersed with Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington‘s evocative vocals. Linkin Park are no strangers to dance music, having previously collaborated with Steve Aoki for ‘A Light That Never Comes‘ and ‘Darker Than Blood‘, while having also received remixes from the likes of Paul van Dyk, Tom Swoon, Datsik, KillSonik and many more. While there aren’t any details regarding the release of the remix yet, stream it here below!"
