Jon told me that LPA actually got Remember The Name from a hip hop website that leaked it early and LPA was on top of it and posted it. Not sure how accurate that is but that's what I was told by him. QWERTY I assume was from LP mgmt. I mean if LP wants something to get out they will make it happen. I don't know if LPA will ever reveal their sources lol

The official Stone Temple Pilots thread
hahninator replied to SergSlim's topic in Stone Temple Pilots
I guess I will write a review of Out Of Ashes today and explain why I think it should have sounded more like "Out Of Time". Great song. Chester seems to really love this shit. I am really happy for him. Maybe this will influence LP to have some more rock songs on the next album.... -
Ah c'mon it's obvious he's struggling these days. They had to re edit Crawling and New Divide from the Canberra 2010 show because of his voice. They spent quite a lot of time editing New Divide from the Transformers show in 2009 to air on TV too and a lot of work was done on his vocals. Still though, his voice is really great. I think something happened to him while they were recording MTM, or around that time. Listen to the 2006 shows and see how great he sounds. After that he slowly started struggling a little with his voice. 2007 it's not that noticeable, 2008 it's slightly noticeable, 2009 it's getting there and by 2010 it's definitely noticeable. His screams aren't as long and overall his voice sounds a bit different to me. What do you think? I think Astat and I had this conversation before..... I joined the STP forums because I saw them asking a few things about Chester.... http://www.belowempty.com/forum/index.php?...66040#msg166040 Regardless, it's no secret that he loves the classic rock stuff haha. It'd be a dream come true if someday he did a project with like Slash, Duff McKagan, Dave Navarro, Matt Sorum, etc to write some new songs/cover some older hits by classic rock bands. His voice is just perfect for it. Watch, he nails this shit and sounds like damn Robert Plant on it: (still my favorite live video of Chester ever)

The Mountain View setlist was the same as the KROQ one: 01. Vasoline 02. Big Bang Baby 03. Wicked Garden 04. Sex Type Thing 05. Out Of Time (Live Debut) 06. Interstate Love Song 07. Dead And Bloated 08. Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart Yes, Digby and Megumi are working with them. And LP's chef they take on tour. So that's at least 3. The one that opened the new restaurant.
-
I doubt they'd tour together again, Chester can't handle 2 bands like that in 1 day. I thought one of the reasons why they don't play longer shows is because of his voice.
-
Found the new song 'Out Of Time'. Surely someone recorded the whole thing. Awesome review by Rolling Stone.

How can you respect Scott though after all of the on stage meltdowns he has had over the years? He can't truly be in it 100% if he's abusing the fuck out of the drugs and alcohol. He is a total nutcase these days. Chester surprisingly sounds very similar to him singing these songs (referencing the KROQ video). Not my type of music and I don't like STP music at all, but I'd see this live since Chester is a boss and he seems like he's having a blast on stage.
-
Ah the MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert is Chester + members of STP + some others, so I bet they perform a STP song or this new song they just did. The STP fans kind of guessed at Chester being the lead singer when they heard about this. Interesting. So that's what the STP show is on the 30th in LA.
-
I hope we can get a full video of the KROQ show. Surely someone was recording the webcast. Or maybe KROQ will show it again. Bring on a USA tour in June and July.
-
I was pretty much half asleep and I got about 10 texts at once lol, phone just exploded. I see "Chester on stage with STP" and said W.T.F. Total surprise. Really interesting. I wonder how this will work going forward. STP website is hilarious. They are playing BFD in Mountain View tomorrow and Club Nokia in LA on May 30. Damn. http://stonetemplepilots.com/tour-dates/

Holy shit.

I can confirm it's the Native, since they had it out at the LPU Summit in Camden for us to check out. We couldn't touch it but we could get right up close to it. They have tape on some of the pads on it that say like "LGM" etc, lol

When I got into more than just the usual LP releases in 2004, I started grabbing the LPU albums, etc. I mean I still remember listening to a mix album of the HTEP and LPU 2.0 on a burned CD with a portable CD player and headphones haha. My confession: I always thought Chester said "Thailand peoples in the house" instead of "Dilated Peoples" on High Voltage LPU2.0, ha.

Not sure how commonly known this is, but I never knew Brad was in this video too - I thought it was just Chester. 0:47 for Brad. Chester is at 1:00-1:02. It's from HFS 2001, so it's worthy of an "Other Note". http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1444110/s...-hfstival.jhtml http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festival_Song http://lplive.net/shows/20010528.php

The lineup was: Offspring, Disturbed (& Lajon from Sevendust), Staind, Monster Magnet, Tantric, Skrape, 7 Mary 3, Mudvayne, Wrong, Cold, Spineshank, Buckcherry, Systematic, Soil. Linkin Park didn't play this show. It's not listed anywhere on the web, on any reviews or lineups, and not on LP.com or any LP live guide. -
They abandoned that with Rick joining them starting with Minutes to Midnight. So they haven't written that way since before 2006.

List your favorite performances of some songs from DSPs. Maybe there is just 1 performance of a song you like or maybe there are 4 performances you like. The idea is to help some people find some good tracks in the DSPs that they might have missed. For instance I saw someone say Burning In The Skies from Hong Kong 2011 was really good, and when I listened, I agreed. Maybe list some reasons why. I'll start with a few. Papercut - Newcastle 2011 ("alright....you guys ready....tear that shit upppp") Lying From You - Mountain View 2011 ("get the fuck up" / huge intro scream by Chester) - Koln 2010 (first time played on that tour, crowd erupts, band in good shape) From The Inside - Atlanta 2007 (intro scream is done perfectly) The Little Things Give You Away - Auburn 2007 (check the DSP, really good shit with the new keyboard intro, and band sounds fantastic) - Atlanta 2007 (picked for LPU7, dedicated to people from New Orleans by Mike, awesome performance) When They Come For Me - Berlin 2010 (first DSP of it so I'm probably biased since I've listened to it more than any other WTCFM but it comes across great live and I love this performance) Wretches & Kings - London 2010 night 2 (mid-set it comes off totally different live and I like it. Joe has a lot of fun with the speech on this one. wow what a run of songs that show had - catalyst/WID/papercut/wretches/LFY/given up/NMS/FTI...fucking sweet!) Bleed It Out - Tampa 2011 (BITS + APFMH bridge) What I've Done - Hannover 2008 (live debut for AMBO intro and crowd loves it opening) A Place For My Head - Paris 2010 (HT 10th anniversary) Points Of Authority - Stuttgart 2009 (High Voltage/Bloc Party intro + RME outro)

I saw the Muse announcement about that. That makes sense. LP could play it but they also can headline Seoul no problem on their own. Looking at the last DSP picture from Seoul, in 2011, the crowd looks pretty small. They even cut off the top part of the seats. I know that happens in other places but that crowd must only be like 5-8k or smaller. Another rumor I heard is for Malaysia to get a show on this run.
-
If they release older DSPs I'm sure they'd keep the covers in.

[DL] 27.04.2001 Miami, FL DVD (Master Upgrade)
hahninator replied to felipeintheend's topic in Newswire
Thanks for the upgrade! Really cool how he captured the porta potty moment. -
The rumor I've heard is that as of right now, they have studio time booked until summer 2014. Who knows what that exactly means, but I assume it means they plan on recording for the rest of 2013 at the very least and likely a good part of the beginning of next year. I think Asia is a one-off tour before they go back to the studio. But with all this studio time before August, I think it's very possible that they'll play a new song in August. This is the best description of LIVING THINGS I've heard yet. I always have a hard time trying to explain why I don't like LT at the end of the day, and this is exactly what I mean. The replay value just isn't there. Don Gilmore's comment about Meteora songs having the same impact the first time you hear it versus the 100th time "for the little kid in Cleveland" is very true about that album. Lying From You, Don't Stay, From The Inside, Figure.09, etc all hit you in the face every time you hear it. LT is not nearly as epic since I tend to skip most every song when I try to listen to it. Only 2-3 on there I listen to continually. Even ATS and all other albums by LP I tend to listen to just about every song and LT is the first one where I find the replay value is very low, like you said.

I think we posted the full thing a few years ago. It's common. I'll look for a link later today. If I can't find it, I'll upload it because I have it on my HD.

Fuck that, I'd rather see the 3 Muse shows with you in Charlotte, Atlanta and Nashville, haha. -
How should next record sound like?
hahninator replied to SOHAIL_Lq's topic in Everything Linkin Park
If they don't let Mike take over producing by himself, I'd like to see them try Steve Lillywhite. Random choice, yes, but I am a pretty big fan of his work. He worked with The Killers, 30 Seconds To Mars, Dave Matthews Band and more recently. He does well with the bands that are getting older in their careers (like 5+ albums) so I think LP should give him a try. Probably it wouldn't happen. Brian Eno is not a bad choice either. Rubin I feel like just tells the band to do whatever the fuck they want, if something happens it's meant to be, if it doesn't happen it's not meant to be, etc. Really laid back approach. Don Gilmore worked the fuck out of the band to produce mega quality music. Of course their sound has changed but I am pretty astonished at how LIVING THINGS isn't nearly as great quality-wise as their previous albums. Maybe I'm in the minority on that statement but I'd love to see them try someone else. For instance, I could be wrong for all I know, but maybe Rick was the one that said "fuck it, if the VICTIMIZED demo only came out to be 1 minute and 46 seconds long, fuck it, it's meant to be that long and throw that shit on the album". LIVING THINGS is all over the fucking place. Thrashy, epic drums on VICTIMIZED and like all sampled drums on POWERLESS. WTF lol. There are good songs on LT but I feel like another producer would have saidlet's improve these songs some more and fix some stuff here, resulting in a better sound and a better album. I don't think Don Gilmore would come out and say LIES GREED MISERY is a good song, for example. -

Fuck it, it's Preston's birthday on 8/3 and it's like $171 one-way...might consider it too. Can't believe in August it will be a full year since they did a USA tour. Dang.
