Linkin Park Headlining LA's Sunset Strip Fest 8/3
hahninator replied to hahninator's topic in Newswire
Opportunity for a debut of a new song? LP in the studio from September until now (and until August) with a few random shows here and there. They might pull a Japan 2006 and play a new one. -
Linkin Park Headlining LA's Sunset Strip Fest 8/3

Like I said on Twitter, there have been warmup shows for international tours as far back as 2008, so it's not a surprise they are doing a show. It is a surprise that they are headlining this festival, though. And like the 2009 announcement of "this is our only show!!!111omg", they always add another one I guess they'll only add a few more to the Asian Tour now. I wonder if they'll do a European Tour after Asia or if they'll go back to the studio. I guess we need to start questioning this, or maybe LP is just wrong. The official merch shirt says 1998, the LPU demos reference 1998 as "Linkin Park" w/ Chester, and this says 1998 as well. But Chester joined in 1999. Confusing indeed. -

The LPU section is pretty cool. I hope they go off during the show. -
Linkin Park always has something up their sleeves! After announcing that February's show in Las Vegas (show page here) would be the ONLY show by the band in North America in 2013, the band is pleased to announce..... LinkinPark.com: Linkin Park will be headlining the Sunset Strip Music Festival in Los Angeles on August 3rd. LPU members will be able to buy pre-sale tickets starting at noon and there will even be an exclusive section up front at the show just for LPU members. This will be Linkin Park's ONLY performance in the United States for the rest of 2013 (this time it's a promise). There will additionally be an LPU M&G at this show. Mike adds: "We played our first shows as a band in 1998, on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. When we were approached about an opportunity to play a special show on the strip, we couldn't say no. We are excited to announce that we'll be headlining the Sunset Strip Music Festival in West Hollywood, CA on August 3. This time we mean it… this will be the ONLY U.S. show for the rest of 2013." Pre-sale tickets will be available at LPUnderground.com at 12:00pm on May 14. Public tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 15 at 10am. Check the official Facebook page for the Sunset Strip Music Festival for more information on the show as it becomes available. The show takes place on the Sunset Strip, with streets being closed off for the duration of the show. The official festival website adds: "The street festival is located in the 9000 – 8900 blocks of Sunset Boulevard (between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Boulevard) in West Hollywood." The 2012 lineup (yes, last year's) for the festival (which has stages both indoors and outdoors in West Hollywood) can be found here. Who's going?

Numb instantly became much better when the Numb/Encore outro tease was added. Just add a cool intro and an outro like the ATS tour had (Radiance shit after it was great) and it'll be in good shape.
-
Shinoda chose LPU9, LPUX, LPU11 and LPU12. I don't think he chose LPU7. And of course he helped pick 2-6.
-
Yeah it's close enough haha I use both of them all the time. Next rumor is Malaysia being added to this tour.
-
Somewhere I Belong has been kicking ass this touring cycle. Crowds really fucking exploded on HCT for it. I was really surprised.

I fixed the YouTube link for him. Yeah just put the last part of the link in the tags. We tried to make it easy for ya Heyyyyyy someone else agrees with me about WFTE sounding like crap in 2010-2011! I had the discussion with (a censored name of person on the crew) about my complaints about it in 2011. The biggest ones were Chester rapping with Mike at the beginning (c'mon that's the Shinoda part) and then Chester rapping with Mike on the bridge. Those 2 parts on the studio version are ALL Mike, or if Chester has a part doubled there, it's pretty much 100% inaudible in the mix. So the live mix needs to replicate that. I was like WTF when I saw it live...Chester on the bridge really makes me cringe lol. 2012 suddenly with the intro + outro and the improvement of the mix (I promise you it's mixed differently than the ATS cycle), it sounds a fuck ton better.

How should next record sound like?
hahninator replied to SOHAIL_Lq's topic in Everything Linkin Park
Drop the electronica stuff from LT. You can have electronica (see ATS) but LT had a bit too much. But keep evolving/changing the sound. I'd like a CD that hits a little harder, so some heavier songs/more rock elements would be great. -
Yeah I agree. We need to add a lot of stuff. We can add a (LP Sanitarium Intro) to Don't Stay's set notes on SS03. Worth mentioning since Chester screamed over it at most of the shows. Cicero 2003: - Before 'Faint', Chester said there was nothing more unladylike than two girls fighting, and asked two girls to stop fighting near the front of the crowd. - After 'Figure.09', while Mike and Chester were asking if the crowd enjoyed Mudvayne and the Deftones, Mike asked the crowd if they were ready for Limp Bizkit, which was promptly met with a loud chorus of boo's. At this show, Limp Bizkit was boo'ed off the stage six songs into their set due to the local radio host Mancow telling people in the weeks leading up to the show to throw stuff at Limp Bizkit at the Cicero show. The crowd boo'ed again before 'A Place For My Head' when Chester asked if they were ready for Limp Bizkit. - The band made quite a few comments throughout the show expressing their happiness with how good the crowd was that day compared to other Summer Sanitarium shows. The crowd even started the 'A Place For My Head' bridge before Chester did. - LP let the crowd sing the entire first verse of 'One Step Closer'. (not gonna add this part, but it's cool they let the crowd sing the ITE bridge at that show. Crowd was really responsive for LP) A note to add to the source: Tracks are split really bad, sometimes they are split well into the song. (keep the By Myself note) Is something missing between LFY and Papercut? The cut between the talking of Mike and Chester seems really weird. Between some of the other cuts it looks like there's 0.5-1.0~ seconds missing.

RaR 2012, Catalyst bridge mess up

Stuff like that is PERFECT. That's exactly what I want. I will add most of that stuff for sure. Thanks so much

As I work on show pages and fixing a lot of stuff for the new version of our website, I need some help from you guys. If any of you collect older shows, or even newer shows and want to submit some interesting or funny or cool show notes, post them here. We definitely need help with this stuff. Anything that was written in shitty "first person" notes needs to be fixed ASAP too. Some examples of what I wrote today and that I need you guys to help with: Wantagh 2001: http://lplive.net/shows/20010809.php (which barely has any notes) - The band had some equipment problems after 'With You', which delayed the start of the next song for a few minutes. - Before 'A Place For My Head' (during the break), Chester said that the song was influenced by 'Rocket Queen' by Guns N' Roses. During the intro, he screamed "What doesn't fucking kill us makes us fucking stronger, am I fucking right?" three times. - Brad started playing the usual 'In The End' guitar intro from 2001 after 'Crawling', but someone told the band that they only had time for one song left, so they went into 'One Step Closer' instead. Due to equipment problems, it is possible that the setlist was changed (since 'A Place For My Head' never was in the number two spot in the setlist) mid-show, but it is known that 'In The End' was at least planned to be played after 'Crawling'. Obviously all of the shows don't need that many notes, but if there is something worth mentioning (like the frisbees on stage that Mike wanted to throw to Chester at Irvine 2001), then post it! Stuff like the "Other Note" here about how the show was obtained need to be changed: http://lplive.net/shows/20040905.php or this show: http://lplive.net/shows/20040609.php Thanks!

Haha the setlist I made in bed last night when I was bored had the exact same thing. Bruiser 20 second intro into Wretches. Right after Blackout. Epic.

I liked BITS a lot. And In Pieces is great. On PR07 when no one knew it, there was that collective gasp from the audience or collective WOAHHHHH on the guitar solo. I really enjoyed that song. In Pieces is one of the best songs on MTM. But I agree with Forgotten, Hit the Floor and LGM. Oh wow LGM is terrible lol From MTM I'd have to say In Between but I mean that's not a great song anyway. No Roads Left is where its at! The rest of the MTM songs are solid. They nailed TLTGYA, HHH, Valentine's Day, etc (all the more complicated songs). One song on Meteora that kicks everyones ass left and right that needs to be played more? From The Inside. I think that one brings it more than Figure.09 even though I love F09. I think they need to both be in the 2013 setlists!

Standing In The Middle was 2001 or 2002, I'd say 2002 for that as well. Divided I still believe is the song they worked on for the Machine Shop mixtape CD. They were barely in the studio in 2005, with DBS (then Snow White Tan) and FM work/touring going on. Complimentary isn't a b-side. I know I put it with those Stagelight Demos but the difference is that Mike made that JUST for OpenLabs. And did it after all LP studio work was done w/ LIVING THINGS. It was pretty recent. Bruiser and Space Station are LT/ATS era demos. Bruiser certainly is from the ATS period because the shit sounds exactly like Wretches lol. They need Wretches w/ Bruiser 20-25 second jam intro I wouldn't count the instrumentals w/ no vocals (besides Pale) as b-sides, I'd count them as demos.

New LPU video posted by Jas, 06/30/04 LPU members head over to LPUnderground.com to see a video clip of what happens when Brad traps Phoenix outside on a balcony in Manila, Philippines. Poor Phoenix he was trapped for being better looking, lol! http://lptimes.com/news2004/june/june.html Just an example of older stuff we are missing from this list. We need to search the LPTimes news archive. Jas usually posted when they had a new LPU video. I promise you we are missing 5-10+ videos from this list from the older days. It's not our fault but the LPU removed these videos at some point and never put them back for some reason. It makes our work hard

Allegedly they lost an entire hard drive's worth of music from 2004, but I'm not sure if this is true. Phoenix said it though in an interview. They had a full album ready to go after PR04. MTM writing period was 2005 and 2006.
-
Yeah but it was really epic for you. I chased APFMH for 16 shows and you got it as your first live LP song ever Pretty jealous of that. Really awesome.

I agree that LIVING THINGS taking such a short time to come out was most likely due to the existence of a FUCK ton of old song ideas that they reworked into new songs. We know they aren't fast at writing music unless there is a gun to their head, like with New Divide. And I still think part of that song was still sitting around too before that period.
