There are a few things I want to discuss about the Bucket of Weenies shows. For example, I don't believe the 8 shows we have listed (6 of which were allegedly played....5 of which are confirmed to have been played) are all correct. For one, the Grand Rapids show to me doesn't seem like it ever happened. Maybe I'm wrong but it falls in between two California shows only 3 days apart. They could fly out to Grand Rapids, sure, but we don't even have a venue name and haven't found anything after years of searching. Did it even happen? http://lplive.net/chesterbennington.php The source for Grand Rapids comes from here: http://web.archive.org/web/20061024002046/....co.uk/live.php I contacted Crewdy who ran the site to see if he has any information on that show. Next, was this article really published on December 26, 2006? http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1548886/b...ver-bands.jhtml If so, Chester says, "It's really something that wasn't planned. It was really spontaneous and I think it will continue to be spontaneous as far as the songs we play and the venues we play. You know, we played the other day in a parking lot in front of Home Depot. And it was really a fantastic show." Did BoW play a show in December 2006 that we don't know about? I definitely think that's possible if the article date is right. And of the known shows, there's nothing that would even come close to resembling a Home Depot parking lot. Maybe BoW played a private show that wasn't really announced. It's worth looking into. And if this is true, then it's possible we have missed some other shows. Whoever has contacted Sean Dowdell previously might want to ask him about it if we can't find any other information. Next, the LPU announced some BoW stuff, but I don't know to what extent. From searching the LinkinParkForums, LPA and LPTimes archives, I could only find the Hollywood and Etnies shows announced on the LPU, but I might have missed something. The West Palm Beach show was cancelled due to Hurricane Wilma (which we need to add to the show page), and the Arizona show was cancelled pretty close to the day of the show considering how late it was announced that Chester/BoW would even play it (just a few weeks before is when it was announced). And lastly, the Camel Cigarettes 'Sin City Tour' was supposed to be a legit tour. BoW was going to play this tour of the companies parties around the USA, but obviously got kicked off because of Chester making the drunk comment. What this means is that other dates existed, and I want to add them. Someone, somewhere, has these dates and we need to find them, whether it's contacting the people that put on this Albuquerque show or whatever. The parties still went on, just without BoW...maybe another band replaced them. But those would count easily as cancelled shows for BoW.

http://lplive.net/chesterbennington/20051022.php Other Bands: Mark Ronson & Mark Realm (after party), *, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Letter Kills Source: http://www.linkinparkforums.com/archive/in...php?t-9897.html and https://web.archive.org/web/20060219023803/...view.asp?id=576 The LPU announced some of the BoW shows (at least the 2 Cali ones), maybe we can get some BoW info from the other LPU announcements. We need to add the changed FM dates, etc to the FM page: http://www.linkinparkforums.com/archive/in...hp?t-10954.html http://lplive.net/fortminor/20050827.php LPU gave away 10 pairs of tickets, 21+ http://www.linkinparkforums.com/showthread.php?t=8899 I searched a lot for the Grand Rapids BoW venue and couldn't find anything. I looked through LPF and LPA. Where was it even announced at? Where did the BoW dates even come from in the first place? Did that show even happen if it was between two Cali shows? Note from Mike for this show: http://lplive.net/fortminor/20051029.php Source: http://lptimes.com/news2005/oct/october.html "we played the myspace show last night--great show. thanks to everyone who came out and supported. the hardest part of playing a show like that is that we're playing music from an album that nobody has heard, so the crowd doesn't move around and sing along the way the do if they've lived with the music; but in spite of that it seemed like everyone really liked the songs and got really loud anyway. i actualy saw people figuring out the words as we went along, and singing along to songs that they had never heard before! great stuff. for those that couldn't make it, we started out with remember the name, and went into a couple of older songs, "it's goin down" and "in the end"--the remix from reanimation. chester came out with me and sang on "in the end." that was fun. after that, we jumped into the new material (6 songs), and ended the set with petrified. we have three string players and three backup singers on stage, and S.O.B. and beatdown (drums) are back. i hope i can bring the show to a venue near you soon--it's a lot of fun. more to come later..." http://lplive.net/chesterbennington.php West Palm Beach BoW show postponed due to Hurricane Wilma to late Nov but then cancelled completely apparently -
I agree. "Building it ERRRRRP."
-
Logically I'm not sure what else they could put on the LPU XIII CD other than the 2 LPU Sessions songs and 8 other demos/b-sides, even if they are new album "outtakes" or random new music, like Announcement Service Public was. They've had ages to clear the Pictureboard sample issue...wonder if we'll finally get it. Or if the fans will find it first someday

I don't understand how LP is calling this "not" a remix album lol
-
Does anyone have the lossless? It'd be nice to have an upgrade.
-
Full show I guess, but Wantagh even though it isn't proshot is a better overall show, band rocking a bit harder in Wantagh. Can't beat this shit though, best proshot video I've ever seen from LP:
-
I thought with the band filming the POWERLESS video in Berlin for the movie and therefore semi-rehearsing/fake playing it for that, they'd at least attempt it on the Honda Civic Tour. Guess not.
-
I agree completely. BID opening the encore with no intro added to it, wow what a snooze fest lol
-
Yes I agree with that. I think it is pretty likely the instrumental demos we have from MTM had scat vocals removed at the very minimum. How angry would you be if LPU13 was the 2 new songs with the LPU Sessions winners + extra LT remixes that didn't make RECHARGED (including 1-2 that were already released)? lol
-
I guess this is truly a one-off since it's too early for a touring cycle to start in January.

Outside of LA and Las Vegas, Astat pointed out that the band only played fourteen USA shows for LIVING THINGS. Las Vegas and LA got the sole USA shows in 2013. And LP's usual warmup show before an international tour is in Vegas. It'd be nice if they for once decided to do something somewhere else, like the NYC ATS album release show. Nashville (where MFR just did a huge Bonnaroo-area cleanup in Manchester), Miami, Chicago, etc would be nice for a chance. Vegas seems to get LP more than any city besides their hometown. Does MFR even do anything in Vegas? And now with this show, it seems LA and Vegas will be the only cities the band has played in some form every year since 2011.

ATS was the biggest risk in my opinion. MTM still had BIO, WID, NMS, GU. ATS tossed all normal stuff aside and they made a concept album. The Catalyst as the first single was CRAZY. People were like "WTF". Even I was like what the hell is this. The listening party reactions were crazy too. Blackout is hugely electronic. Wretches pretty much too. It was just a really different album for them. The Messenger was acoustic, they had interludes throughout the album, the first song wasn't until 3 tracks in, WTCFM was a damn African tribal war dance anthem lol. Besides WFTE which was the most successful song on the album, it was a huge departure for LP and a bigger risk. Chester even said people either loved it or hated it, there was no in between. Maybe because of that, they made LT. LT is the most rushed album I've heard from LP and it really shows in the final product. I hope they take their time for the next CD. Even with the sad lack of touring for the albums now, I'd rather them take 2 years and make a CD I'll play every week versus take less than 1 year and make a CD that I'll say sucks. ATS came off as weird as hell but it was flawless.

Furthermore the fact that the label lets them release these full songs that could have made an album as b-sides tells us that we are getting some cool stuff. Across The Line, What We Don't Know, etc are legit awesome songs and could easily be used for some greatest hits release or box set someday, but we got them via LPU. Perhaps that is why they are saving the Meteora-era full b-side(s). Esaul was not a waste because it was the Frat Party live version in studio form. Easily my favorite Esaul demo. Apparently WID remix is slightly different, I forgot what it was, and then ITE has different bass I think. I didn't know POA had a difference and I did know Forgotten was the same. You are right that they use these incomplete demos to water down the releases. There's no doubt about that. They even edit them too. Maybe Asbestos had a chorus scat/rough take from Chester and they tossed it. We have to be oblivious to think they aren't editing stuff they're giving us. Just look at LPU9.
-
It's surprising to me how much better the UIB remixes are than the bland album version, which seems like it was made in 5 minutes in a basement lol Besides the middle of the album having a few duds back-to-back I'm liking the release.

Couldn't have said it better myself. If LP pursues this style of music with their own LP style/twist to it, then wow be prepared for an awesome album.

Mike Shinoda Gives Updates on New Album
hahninator replied to maik_gianino's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I'd like to hear what LP could do with another producer but I feel like their songs might sound more mainstream-ish, radio-ish and 3-4 minute-ish. With Rick, he allows them to work outside the box and create whatever the hell they want to make really. But they probably could do a great job with another producer too. Steve Lillywhite and Brian Eno are two producers that I think LP could make a good album with. They'd probably say "wtf" at stuff like UNTIL IT BREAKS where Rick would probably be like "Oh yeah man whatever you make naturally, fuck it, it wanted to be made and it's good enough to release" lol If Mike keeps listening to this heavier stuff like his Spotify playlist suggests then it might mean we are shifting away from the electronic LP to more alternative rock LP again. And that's the best news ever. -
Link to and discuss Mike's Spotify playlists here. There are some good songs to discover if you're a fan of music. He recommends some good stuff. His 2007 mix on his blog (with Refused's New Noise) was great. His newest playlist, "YELLING OVER GUITARS", is one I am going to listen to in pieces this week. https://play.spotify.com/user/m_shinoda/pla...3R2ddc08HgApUHl Music Box by Thrice is on there, which is my all time favorite Thrice song. Swerve City from the latest Deftones album and also Helmet's Unsung are on there, which both are good tracks too. I am surprised New Noise isn't on it. This is a great thing though that he is listening to hard rock music before making the new Linkin Park album. Has anyone else listened to his playlists?

Ok wow we definitely have a problem now haha

M Shinoda CASTLE OF GLASS remix in LPTV

I agree. The POWERLESS and BURN IT DOWN remixes really suck and having them back-to-back is a disaster haha. And that ROADS UNTRAVELED remix is meh, so 3 in a row of "blah' is weak. But it gets back on track with UNTIL IT BREAKS in my opinion, which I like a good bit. Oh hell yeah, great part of the song there. It's really going to get fans talking. "Fort Minor "We Major", let's take it to phase 2. The mission isn't finished yet. I've been on the internet, hearing fans talking, maybe we should consider it." And Mike jams right after it. The first part of the remix isn't that great but wow from Ryu to Mike it's really sweet. Overall a solid album and there's just as many songs I like here as on a normal Linkin Park record. Good release by the band!
-
Nope! LP-related remixes for me have tended to suck except the LOATR Mike remix and the Wretches Havoc remix so I have tended to just stop listening to them in the past few years. I am quite impressed with the LITE one and I actually like it more than the studio version as I haven't been a fan of the studio song much at all.
-
And another note - I like LPU9 the best out of the last 4 LPU CDs. 9 was amazing, 10 was solid but I feel like ever since 9 was released, they've been going downhill a bit. Somehow 9 was so good in my opinion (Across The Line holy shit, what an epic song) that I don't like the other 3 nearly as much. Of course there are awesome songs there, like Pale, What We Don't Know, Slip, etc but 9 is on a level of its own to me.
-
Hey Geki nice find, I never knew that was the same demo. I have a good ear when watching LPTV and immediately noticed that new song clip from the LPTV Summer Sanitarium episode the very first time I watched it in 2007. I didn't recognize it was the "thoughts that take away my pride" demo though. Very cool. That legit might be the only full b-side with vocals from the Meteora era. Didn't they say they only recorded 13 full songs or something?

Well holy damn the LOST IN THE ECHO KillSonik remix is great. Really surprised by that one. What a way to remix a track. Fuckin' nailed it.
