  1. Aren't surprises usually saved until last in situations like this? Maybe Adele will come on during the encore and perform No Roads Left. She'll be like "sorry dudez, but you did one of my songs so I had to return the favor."
  2. Ok, so I finally got it working while they were doing When They Come For Me. I LOL'ed at the fact that I had to log into Windows on my Mac to get it working because it wouldn't work in OSX without me upgrading my OSX (very cute apple). So what were the first 3 or 4 songs? Sounds like I didn't miss anything surprising which is good...
  3. I'd LOL if set B11 started out with No Roads Left. It's not going to happen and I'm perfectly fine with it but still...it would be funny and weird.
  4. That's true lmao. Forgot about that . I'm going to try to make that MFR event even though I'm not the best at art.
  5. I think LPLive was a TINY late on this? . Just messing. I did see it on the LPU site yesterday though. Anyway, this is cool. I already made all the travel reservations and...unfortunately...I'm going to miss most of the stuff on day one. Oh well. At least it's not something totally unmissable.
  6. I thought it was all but confirmed that Iridescent would be the third single. Guess not. Iridescent is definitely going to be a single though. It's just a question of when. BITS is still a good choice (given the other selections they could have gone with) and I think it's one of the top 4 songs on the album. As much as I love BITS though, the only bad thing about this selection is exactly what the original poster said. A lot of fans already expected this. It was just an utterly predictable selection. And I think part of the reason for this is that they've already had two singles before that sound similar to BITS (WID and ND). Both of those songs have a similar feeling and structure. Imo, you could basically sum up BITS as WID or ND with less energy and more involvement from Mike. I'm not saying though that I think BITS is WID part 2 or ND part 2. It has some other differences but the bottom line is that there are some key similarities. With all this being said, I don't think anyone can blame them for choosing BITS. It was either going to be BITS or Iridescent. They really didn't have many other options. I just don't think ATS has many single sounding songs. I think Iridescent will come after BITS and that might be it.
  7. Oh man, I jumped up and down when I saw this. I didn't think I could love the band anymore but I do now. FUCK YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSSSSSSSSS. Ok, that's enough. Seriously though, this Phoenix show changes everything for me. I wasn't even sure if I was going to be able to see them on the tour because the closest shows (before today) were 5 and 6 hours away (San Diego and Las Vegas). Now I can just drive 20 minutes and I'm there. And it's also on a Sunday. Damn lucky and perfect. Now I know that I'll be seeing them next year. And it's going to be the last show of the tour. Wow. That could either be a very good thing or a bad thing. Hopefully a good thing since they'll have a one day break to rest after the Denver show.
  8. That's great. I'm glad I'm not directing it either. I'm sure as hell glad that you and no one else on this forum are either.
  9. I'll say what I think they should have done. I won't say that what they did was bad though until I see the full video. Personally, based on the meaning of the song (both in the context of the album and what the song means by itself), I think it would have been fucking awesome to have the video filmed on an island. IMO, this concept would have fit the lyrics of the song while also fitting the music of the song. The song has a reggae/jamaican style feel to it and I think the scenery of an island would fit that perfectly. I think the main problem with doing this is that they would have had to travel far depending on what island they would go to. Might be tough to fit into their schedule. We'll see how the video is though. It might turn out good. I just always imagined how awesome it would be seeing a music video for this on an island. It might have been predictable to some, but I think it could have worked great.
  10. Hearing about the meaning behind The Messenger was awesome. Knowing that he wrote that for his kids actually makes me appreciate the meaning of the song more. I know that he's said in the past that he prefers people figure out the meanings of the songs for themselves and apply it to their own life, but I am really glad he explained the meaning/inspiration for that song. I kind of wish he would do that more often. Great interview though. He pointed out a lot of things and I'm glad he talked about the fair weather fans who only paid attention to the heavy songs on HT/Meteora and never appreciated the ballads. It's not that Minutes to Midnight was so damn different because it had lighter ballads. It's just that those particular fans never paid attention to the ballads on the first two albums and thus it was a shock to them. They only appreciated the heavy songs. And those people to me were never real fans. I'm glad he finally exposed them for what they are/were.
  11. The band is not emo now and they never were. You just decided to pick one song (which I think is the only song out of hundreds that they have) that talks about cutting (and mostly not in a physical "emo" way). And it's funny how you had to use an example from Hybrid Theory EP as if there aren't enough examples of depressing songs on the first two albums which mostly everyone has heard. I do think it's funny though how some people have just started to call the band emo within the last 3 years. Doing that makes even less sense than calling them emo 8 years ago. Both M2M and this album are more positive and yet some people call these albums emo but not HT/Meteora. Truth is, none of the albums, old or new, are emo.
  12. This show isn't going to be webcasted or broadcasted online like the 2007 show was at Webster Hall, right? I was kind of hoping I could watch this online like the Webster Hall show but I doubt that will be the case.
  13. For the first real live performance of the song, it really wasn't that bad. After listening to it about 15 times, Chester definitely went off key/pitch more than once. He probably had at least 10 pitchy/off key moments. It wasn't a great vocal performance by him by any standard, but I definitely wouldn't call it horrible. As I've said before in the past, as long as they are continuing to make songs that are more difficult vocally (which they have been doing since What I've Done), then I will cut them some slack and not judge them by the same live standards as on HT/Meteora. These songs are simply harder to sing than the old ones. What I've Done, New Divide, The Catalyst, etc are all difficult songs vocal wise. I'm sure he'll improve on this song but all things considered, not bad.
  14. Not sure if you paid attention to what I said, but I did say this: I understand that it was never stated. However, it was never stated otherwise what it would be and I think some people were expecting to see some more things about the creation of the music. I still enjoyed seeing it though and I'm not judging it since I haven't seen the whole thing. From what I saw, it was very interesting to see this side of the band. I think it will be an interesting DVD. I'm not sure if it was made to intentionally be a certain way. You'd have to ask whoever made the DVD. I don't think it's unfair to compare them though, just like I don't think it would be unfair to compare M2M and ATS. I know that ATS will be a completely different album, but that doesn't mean you can't make a couple comparisons. I've already seen people compare ATS to M2M in small ways.
  15. I didn't watch the whole thing but it was obvious that it was different and much less focused on the actual musical process and song creation than the M2M DVD was. I can already tell that the M2M "making of" will most likely be 3 or 4x better. It's not called "Making of A Thousand Suns" though. It's called "Meeting of A Thousand Suns." And now I know why. From what I saw though, it was still really damn cool seeing this side of the band. It's very rare to see them get angry or argue with eachother and it's kind of interesting to see all of that. One of the only times that I remember seeing any of them arguing was in this video: If you skip to 2:50, Brad and Chester get in an argument..although its...a different kind of argument.
  16. I laughed my ass off when he said the pop thing. Man, I'd be scared to ask something like that in Mike's face. Perhaps he meant to say mainstream instead of pop. He might have been correct if he would have used the word mainstream instead. I'm sure he knows there's more to mainstream music than just pop.
  17. Yup, sure . Nobody likes Numb. It's only regarded as being one of the best songs that the band has ever made, by both new and old fans. I'm not saying everyone thinks it's one of their best though. I've seen some people who hate it. Most people though think it's one of their top 5 or 10 songs. I made a poll on Youtube (after PR2007) asking which song people thought was their best. It only included 10 songs or so but Numb was the winner by an overwhelming number. It's clear people love the song. And that's why they'll continue to play it.
  18. Quick question here. The only songs that I've heard in their entirety is The Catalyst, W&K, and Waiting For The End. I'm waiting another week to hear the rest. My question is which song had the guitar solo in it. Was it Iridescent or was it a different song? And is there more than one song with a guitar solo in it?
  19. Wow, I definitely wasn't expecting this leak. I was thinking maybe in another couple days. I'm not listening to the whole thing until it comes out though. I did the same with M2M and Out of Ashes. I just listened to Waiting For The End (which was amazing) but that will be the last song I listen to. I can live off of The Catalyst, W&K, and WFTE for another week. One of the problems with this album is the large number of interludes. 6/15 songs are interludes. I understand that this is partly because it's a concept album and it has something to tell. And I know some people will say "it's about quality, not quantity". I don't believe in that though. The reason is because when an album has a lot of instrumentals, the non instrumental songs have to be REALLY good to make up for the lack of real songs. It puts more pressure on the actual songs to be good. There's not as much room for error since there's not a lot of actual songs. And that's a bad thing IMO. Anyway, if I listen to any other songs, I'm not going to have any surprises left when the album comes out. The only thing I'll have left to listen to is interludes. And I don't want that. As it stands now, I've only heard 3 of the actual songs plus the snippets. That means I have 6 real songs (non interludes) that I haven't heard. If I stop now, I'll have one more new song than I did with M2M plus I'll have all the interludes.
  20. Holy crap. Maybe I'm just overreacting, but I can't wait to hear the rest of that song. Sounds like it has the potential to be better than The Catalyst and Wretches & Kings. That reminded me of LOATR just a TINY bit at the start with Chester's singing. Mike is sure using some weird accents in his rapping. He sounded almost...Jamaican or something. Weird lmao.
  21. I've only heard it one time so far but I didn't have a big reaction. On first listen, my reaction wasn't like "OMG ITS AWESOME" or "OMG IT SUCKS". My reaction was like "Oh wow, holy shit...this is so different from any song that's come before it". Chester's never screamed in that way before. It was definitely interesting. I loved the Fort Minor energy and loved what Hahn was doing at the end. I'm not going to bother judging the song yet. Have to hear it more. It sounds more like a rap song though and I'm sure it will appeal to that crowd. All of the samples remind me of my brothers rap music that he made where he would constantly make beats intertwined with speeches or people talking. Cool song. I was more struck with how different it was than how awesome or bad it was. It can only get better though.
  22. Sounds awesome. Brings the excitement up a notch. I'm glad it's only 2 weeks away so if the excitement increases even more, at least there won't be much longer to wait. That sounded awesome though. Too bad you could only hear the song clearly for like 5 seconds. What a tease. Damnet. I don't even need this album to leak. All I want is the 30 second clips. PLEASEEEEPLEAPEROPAEIJROPAEIJRPOEAIJROPEA!!!!!
  23. I'm not going to write a huge lengthy review on the video. For now, I'll just say that the video is decent. I'd probably give it a 6/10 or 7/10. Ironically enough, the best parts of the video seem to happen during the best parts of the song. Not sure if that was intentional. For example, I love all the transitions and motion effects that are going on during the synth solo, which is one of the better parts of the song. There are a couple other cool moments like that after that part. It's a good video I guess overall. Just nothing amazing or epic that really stands out to me. I kind of like the post apocalyptic/fallout environment also. I just don't think the video is on the same level as Breaking The Habit, In The End, or Somewhere I Belong.
  24. I have a feeling this voting is a bit rigged...but whatever. We're voting for the least favorite song, right? How on earth do In Between and Valentine's Day not have more votes? I always thought 90% of people on Lplive hated In Between. Well, whatever. I vote for Valentine's Day.
  25. Wow. Some of the posts on this thread are "LOL funny". I guess I can understand though why some people who are seeing the early shows in South America and Europe are disappointed. And I know it may not seem fair for the price you pay. But, this is how it works. The band needs to get reacclimated to playing again. As others have said, I remember the same thing happening a month before M2M came out. There were some shows in Germany during that time which were pretty short. I remember No More Sorrow debuting live in Germany. For those who are upset, you can think of this in two ways. Either be totally upset at the fact that you might get 15-16 songs, or be totally happy that you will be among the first people (after the debut show) to hear the new songs live. I'd love to be in some of your positions. I'd love to be in a small country in Europe and go to a show in Oct or Nov and be among the first people to hear the new songs played live. Who knows, maybe some of you guys in SA or Europe will hear the live debut of a song from ATS. Or maybe even....NRL! Ok, jk.
