  1. I'm sure that Rob, Brad, and Phoenix are very present on this album, just not in the way they have been in the past. We already know that Brad yells into a megaphone. That appeared on When They Come For Me. There are plenty of "group vocal" moments that probably consist of the whole band singing/chanting. I wouldn't be surprised if Rob played most of the electronic drums with an electronic kit.
  2. I can't understand how people thought it was a different song. It had the same synth sound.
  3. And awesome.
  4. Why does the length of a song determine whether it's good or not? The Requiem is awesome. Jornada Del Muerto is awesome. Fallout is awesome. Wisdom, Justice, and Love is awesome. Empty Spaces should have been a part of When They Come For Me and The Radiance should have been a part of The Requiem. These interludes are great and most of them can stand on their own (with the exceptions I pointed out).
  5. After hearing this album, I'm wondering if this guy got the same album.
  6. So, the making of video is going to be 30 minutes. How long was the making of for MTM?
  7. I loved the album. The only song that I didn't absolutely love was The Messenger. The album definitely isn't as genre-busting as Mike claimed, but it is all over the place. The sounds range from atmospheric, to rock, to rap, to electronica, to pop. I love that the poppy sounds on this album are more reminiscent of The Beatles than Justin Bieber. That is the type of pop music that I like. The hip-hop moments are rapped in a more traditional hip-hop style instead of Mike's nu-metal style. This change was already evident on Minutes to Midnight and it was nice to see it continued on this album. I also loved the emphasis of electronics and synthesizes since that's currently what I'm experimenting with musically. My favorite tracks were Jornada Del Muerto, When They Come For Me, Blackout, Wretches and Kings, and Waiting for the End. They all get a 10/10 for me. I loved the synth line that came in during JDM. That was my favorite part of it. When They Come For Me just has this really nice hip-hop feel to it that I'm really digging. Plus I love the references to other rappers (including some of my favorites like Chuck D from Public Enemy and Jay-Z). Blackout reminds me of Nine Inch Nails without sounding like a NIN rip-off. I love when Mike's singing comes in at the end. I was a little disappointed that Chester's lyrics had changed from the LPTV episode, but that's all good. Wretches and Kings was like an evolution of the Hybrid Theory/Meteora sound that was taken in a whole new direction (kind of like Bleed it Out was on Minutes to Midnight). I also liked Mike's delivery on the track and the lyrics reminded me of Public Enemy. And, my favorite, Waiting for the End. This song was really cool. I loved the Beatles-esque Chester parts and once again, Mike's delivery on his rap was amazing. This is one of my favorite Linkin Park tracks right now. Some other random thoughts that I had while listening to the album: - Iridescent sounds like the kind of music you hear in a church that has a "rock" band. It has a very epic feel to it. - Wisdom, Justice, and Love is really, really cool. - Robot Boy sounds nothing like I expected. It sounded a lot better. - Those 30-second samples ain't got nothin' on this album!
  8. This thread has already been done. And I already won.
  9. I already bought it. It's a guilt-free download for me.
  10. I'm loving the Beatles feel that this song has going for it. Mike's rapping is pretty awesome as well.
  11. Listening to Big Boi's Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty and downloading A Thousand Suns. It's a good day.
  12. About time!!
  13. Exactly my thoughts on that.
  14. Lyric video (I haven't followed the link myself, so I could be wrong and posted the wrong thing. The point is, there's a lyric video on youtube).
  15. Rick Rubin has a track record of making artists stretch themselves creatively. I'm glad that Linkin Park is continuing to work with him (despite what I said when it was announced he was working with them on MTM). I do think that Mike could produce the album by himself now, though.
  16. Jornada Del Muerto sounds amazing judging just from the 30 second sample.
  17. I think that the band has gone softer because that's the music that Mike wants to make. I am a strong believer that Mike is the driving force behind how the band sounds. Though it could have something to do with Chester getting older.
  18. ^ I agree. WAK sounds nothing like RATM. Nine Inch Nails and Public Enemy popped into my mind there, but there was never a moment where I thought it sounded like RATM.
  19. I'm assuming that what the radio has is that 6-track sampler we got a review of a while back.
  20. Haven't listened yet since I'm sitting in class, but the lyrics posted on page one are pretty awesome. I'll be able to listen in 45 minutes.
  21. While they are mainstream, I totally agree on the sellouts part of your statement.
  22. I've been trying to tell my friend that for three years now. In the minds of the stubborn "old-school" LP fans, Minutes to Midnight will always be a "sell-out, mainstream" record, and Hybrid Theory (which went Diamond) and Meteora (7x Platinum, I believe) were not mainstream.
  23. I'm sure we'll be getting it earlier since world-wide stores are selling it on Friday. I had held to my guess of today for a while, but it seems like it's not happening. Oh well, only a little bit longer now regardless.
