Most Disappointing Thing LP Has Ever Done For You
Geki replied to Geki's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I like it when bands perform songs the way they are on the album. When They Come For Me wasn't a good example of that, though, which Martinez had stated. When They Come For Me is a great live song, one of the best from ATS for sure, I back Hahninator on that. And the ATS songs actually did sound better in 2012 for some reason, it was awesome. -
Yeah, I think you're right.

I definitely love your point about bringing out guests on shows. I always loved that. It's awesome when they have someone from one of the touring bands come out because they can do it at so many shows per tour. Good examples are Bert on Faint, Jonathan on One Step Closer, Chris Cornell on Crawling, Mike Einziger on Bleed It Out, Tim on Bleed It Out and Austin on Faint, like you listed). I loved that shit. I wish Brandon of Incubus had come out for a song on HCT and Jared or Davey on Carnivores, but fuck it. I'm sure if the band had asked them they would have done it, though.

Most Disappointing Thing LP Has Ever Done For You

It actually irritates me as well when they don't play songs as they appear on the album. I never liked any of that stuff, any of the medleys or also just the way that they play some songs, that's a good point. -
These are all awesome suggestions. I also think it was pretty disappointing that they didn't play much of THP or LT. I'm sick of all the old songs, especially HT. I wish they would play songs from the new albums, at least play songs when they're currently supporting said album. Only 5 songs from THP on Carnivores was strange to me, they should have played more than that... In 2015 on the actual Hunting Party Tour in the U.S., they were only doing 3 songs from the album, GATS, Wastelands and FM. Just wow.

I got the idea for this thread over at LPA. What was the most disappointing thing that LP has ever done, in your opinion, for you? For me, it was getting rid of the DSP's. I really miss them, I loved being able to listen to shows in HQ and especially listening to the shows that I went to in HQ. They were also fun to collect and it brought the live community together in some ways.

At this point, I'm more interested in the next touring cycle. The album will come when it comes. But I hope they start announcing tour dates soon for next year. As for the studio update, I''m sure it won't be too exciting, but you never know. It's cool that they're basically finished with drums. Nearing completion more and more, obviously. As for the FM stuff, I don't really care. More shows would be cool, if not, doesn't really bother me.

Well, I assume you're asking what was the best set design in our own opinion, so I'd have to go with something that I've seen personally. I really enjoyed the Kabuki idea on PR07, the curtain dropping and then LP rushing out on stage, I thought that was really cool to see. I also enjoyed the pyro on Honda Civic Tour 2012, that was cool as well. So I'd have to say those two, probably. I heard the production was great on THP Tour that was cancelled, that might have been on my list if I had seen that as well.

Here would be my top 5 suggestions, IMO: 01. Keep ALITS. Great live song, it sounds good live and is definitely a fan favorite as of now. It totally encapsulates what THP was, IMO. Also, a lot of fans didn't get the chance to see it live, because it was only played from May of 2015 until November of 2015, so more than half of the touring cycle didn't get a chance to see it, even though Phoenix was talking about playing it live as far back as Europe 2014. 02. Drop New Divide. I liked New Divide at first, back in 2009, and even in 2010, maybe even 2011, but it should have went away after the ATS touring cycle was over, IMO. Chester really has trouble singing it nowadays, even though there's nothing wrong with that because he is a great singer still and it's a challenging song, but it just doesn't sound that good live anymore. It's also just kind of boring to me now. It takes up a 5 min slot in the set, and I can think of songs I'd rather see played live over it, including new songs from the new album. 03. Drop the Ballad Medley. Again, I liked it at first in 2012 and even in 2013, but it should have went away after the LT cycle was over, IMO. It doesn't sound bad live, and I think the band might actually like playing it still, but it's just grating to me at this point. It takes up a 7 minute slot in the set and is just kind of boring to me. I wouldn't even mind if the studio version of LOATR or SOTD came back instead, because I kind of miss those. Or maybe a brand new piano version of SOTD entirely, that might be cool. 04. They need to get a solid ''opener'' to the set. I miss the days when they had those, like Don't Stay for the summer 2004 tour, for example, or the gunshot intro with OSC for the opener in the MTM cycle. The Requiem for the ATS cycle, etc. I don't like the rotating openers, and I don't like Papercut as a opener like they did in 2015, as much as I love Papercut, I'd rather see it in the middle of the set instead. Get a solid opener that defines the cycle. 05. Probably my biggest complaint about the last touring cycle, so I saved this one for last. GET RID OF THE SHORTENED SONGS. I hate it, always have. Play full songs. I hated that idea in 2014. 2015 didn't have as much shortened songs, so maybe they won't do the shortened songs thing again, but who knows. I miss when the band played full songs like they did on the albums and also the banter, etc, that's what made shows unique to me.

LP is still huge in the U.S. too, though. The Honda Civic Tour in 2012 and Carnivores Tour in 2014 were actually the highest grossing tours in the U.S. that LP have ever done and they were mega popular. They also headlined a lot of huge festivals last year in 2015 as well. No doubt that LP is huge in Europe, Adam even told me at the Camden LPU Summit in 2012 that LP was bigger in Germany than they are here. LP has really become a global band on the live scene in recent years, though. I'm sure the next touring cycle will have huge shows both in the U.S. and Europe. I don't live in Europe and don't want to travel to Europe so I'm pretty pumped for the next U.S. tour, and I'm hoping that LP headlines some awesome stuff in Europe and elsewhere for everyone else too. We're all LP fans at the end of the day.

Haven't seen LP since Darien Center, NY 2014, so it's been quite a while now. I can't wait for the band to announce a U.S. tour, I'm definitely going to try and hit up as many shows as possible.
-
I hate to say it but I'm not a fan of this demo at all, really. Just not interesting to me...
-
I fail to see how this is really a clip of new music honestly, it's basically just Mike using a weird effect on his voice and him singing a few ''oh's'' with it.
-
Badass, hope it's true.
-
Pretty cool. I might buy one of them today. In The End didn't make me become a fan of the band, I didn't really become a hardcore fan of the band until 2003. But I do remember In The End being a huge song back then in 2001 and stuff, it was literally everywhere, and everyone knew it.

I watch your channel all the time, it has awesome live videos, probably the best on YouTube.
-
Wow, that's awesome. That would be great. Btw, your YouTube channel is awesome, if you are Qwerty95k on YouTube as well, which I would assume you are.
-
Well, the way the music world is nowadays, you have to keep releasing music to stay relevant, basically. Remember a few years ago when Chester said that? I think it's true. They've kind of been out of the game for a little bit now, so I think they're gonna drop a single that will probably appeal to the mainstream (unlike GATS) to promote the album.
-
Yeah, you're right about that. It's happened many times in the past. It's just that they haven't released any music since July of 2014 so it's been a pretty long time, that's why I think they'll do the single sooner rather than later. December probably.
-
No way that the first single comes out in March or April. That would be an insanely long time to wait and that's not what Phoenix is saying anyways. The first single also comes out months before the album so even if the album comes out in March or April (I think it will be sooner), the single will be out by at least January. I personally think we will get the first single in maybe December and then album in maybe February I guess, with a promo tour in March and April. Then Euro festivals in May and June and probably a big U.S. tour in July and/or August.
-
Pretty awesome that we have a time frame now. Can't wait for the first single to drop so we can get a taste of this album. EDIT: Just watched the actual video and Phoenix says that they hope to have new music out in early 2017 and be touring the U.S. and the world by March or April. So I'm guessing first single in maybe November or December latest. The first single always comes out 2 or 3 months before the album drops anyways.

You're correct, I have the DVD, it shows people that Mike invited to the studio for that stuff, including the father of Beck.
-
Wow, all these guest performances from Chester this year are starting to rival that of 2006 & 2007 with how many guest appearances he did back then. Pretty badass.
-
Haha, you're right. Thanks for sharing, I might watch some of it when I'm bored. And I'm sure other people will be interested in this video.
