Just thought of another possibility... what about A Day To Remember? Jeremy McKinnon said the first CD that he ever bought was Hybrid Theory and that he is a big fan of Linkin Park. He even flew to Warped Tour when LP played just to play APFMH with the band, his band wasn't even on the bill. And they also played with LP a few other times as well, LP even let them borrow some of their gear to play at one of the US shows in 2015.

I just think it's annoying to tease the fans massively for months and hype it up for months and not even release so much as a clip of new music, or even a song title, etc. By doing this is makes it seem like each song on the album will be the greatest song of all time. It does create extremely high expectations. I don't know really any other bands who do this to the extent that LP does.

Mike talked about this in 2004 during an interview. ''We wouldn't have let him go. Even if he drove back to Phoenix, we'd figure out a way to make it work.'' There is also the MTV: The Ride documentary from 2014 where the band says that the most important choice for them as a band was choosing Chester as their lead singer. I think if they had never got Chester as their lead singer, they probably would have found someone and they would have made an album and it wouldn't have done as well as HT did. And they probably wouldn't still be a band today. They might have had mild success since nu-metal was huge at the time, but they definitely wouldn't have stood the test of time like LP has, IMO. The 6 guys in LP really have something magical and it connected when they all made HT. If they leaked Pictureboard that would have been awesome, but we know they will never do it. I think if they were ever going to have leaked it, it would have been in 2009 when Mike posted about the song. Like many have said before though, it's probably not that special.

Wow those pictures are awesome!!! Particularly the first one!!

It's also, like, everyone on this site is constantly ganging up on me for my opinion and stuff. You're right, I do spend too much time on this site. But I thought having a long break and coming back would change me, it didn't, I'm still the same person. This super long wait for the new music on top of the whole SJW thing from the band members this past year, and the fact that the band is making some Justin Bieber style pop album have really killed it for me.
-
I'm basically done with the LP community. I don't even care about this band anymore, aside from their live side. Their SJW attitude I was referring to was how the band members want to shove their political beliefs down my throat and how anything that's a trending news story is talked about, but only from the liberal world. They're trying to purposely put that out there. Before, the band was careful about that kind of thing and they didn't want to shove their opinions down people's throats, now they do. And their image, I don't care if I sound like an asshole. Again, look at what they're wearing. I've lost all excitement and hope for this album and for the first time in my life, I'm over Linkin Park. It sucks because I've wasted so much time and money into the band but that's my own fault I guess. But stil, I'm not a fan of this style of the band. The band has done poppy stuff before but never like this. Pop rock is what BID and LOATR are. Alternative rock is an entirely different genre altogether, you have it mistaken. Final Masquerade and MTM for the most part are alternative rock. Pop is something different completely. And the fanbase has become really young and it's just not the same. It's obvious they're appealing to that crowd

I just expected an album similar to A Thousand Suns. Mature lyrics, mature sound, experimental but not mainstream, etc. But I knew they were going to do a pop album from the beginning, because of the little hints that the band gave, etc. and I think everyone expected a pop sound overall. From the VERY little information we have on this album, it seems very poppy and mainstream driven. And those lyrics that were leaked from Andrew Goldstein's Snapchat a while back were similar to something Justin Beiber or Rihanna would have written (or at least their ghost writers, since I don't think they actually write their own lyrics). At the end of the day, I don't really care. They probably will only play maybe 3 or 4 songs from this new album live. I'll still get to hear all the other songs from past albums at a live show and that is important to me.

I've expected pop shit since the start, just like everyone else, I don't think Mike understands.
-
Wtf are you talking about? Julien-K have evolved their sound with each album that they have done since Death To Analog. In 2007, they didn't even have an album out, actually, I think you meant 2009. But yeah. And people still like them. They're cool people and a good band.

I can't be sure obviously, but it's what I think. I don't think they have any intention of releasing anything until about March at the LEAST. That's why I said June for the album. I mean, it looks like they are still in the studio, for one, judging by recent things they have posted in 2017. We still don't have a single yet. We have literally no information at all about the album or single or anything about the process whatsoever. They announced tour dates for May, June and July as of right now, and I'm positive that the touring cycle will start in May at this point. No way that the album is out before they start the touring cycle in May. And they won't release a single until a month or two before the album release, so that's why I said April. It sucks, yes, and it is too long, IMO, but most of the fans here don't seem to mind the severely long wait for whatever reason, so fuck it. I'm basically considered an asshole for complaining about the wait among the people on this site.

When I first heard LP wanted to do a pop album, I expected pop rock. Because they're a rock band. I didn't think it would be THIS kind of pop. But I'm sure it will be. Which sucks. I'm glad that I stopped caring about the new album and the band's studio side as of late. They're also catering to this age group and people, I actually agree. Just look at the way they are dressing lately. Look at their social media shit, all that stupid SJW shit and everything else. I'll still go see them live because they're a good live band and they will still play a shit ton of old stuff too, but I've really become uninterested in them as a studio band and other stuff. I also agree with Broman. That's what I've been doing, listening to other bands and artists for once. Fuck LP. But yeah, a complete 180 from THP. But is that good? When LP made ATS, you could see how it was an evolved form of the MTM sound. LT borrowed elements of all the first 4 albums into one sound, that was cool. THP really was a big step outwards for LP, like ATS was, but LT borrowed some elements from ATS. If this album doesn't borrow some elements from THP, that would be kind of shitty. It's funny, the band had this whole ''FUCK POP'' mentality in 2014 and made fun of all these artists who make this kind of music, etc. and now they're making this kind of music. Pop rock would have been fine, but pure pop, wow. And people can argue and say that Mike didn't really say he hated pop, but c'mon, don't kid yourself. Watch the fucking interviews and everything else. This new ONE OK ROCK song that Mike produced, I couldn't pay attention during it. It sounded so boring and cliche and mainstream. That type of music doesn't interest me at all. Pop rock, I like. Alternative rock, I like. Pop punk, I like. Any of those would have been cool to hear from LP. But not this type of music, at least for me personally. I know they wouldn't ever go metalcore or hardcore but those other genres, I wouldn't mind those.

I voted for another date. I think it will be April. I think they're going to release the album in June. It sucks but I don't really care. I'm waiting for the U.S. Tour dates more than anything and I know those aren't coming yet.
-
I actually wouldn't mind seeing Julien-K with LP again at all. And the sound of the new music might be a bit similar, electronic, pop, etc. The only problem is that LP doesn't seem to repeat touring bands in the U.S., at least since 2003 or so (with the exception of Blindside being on the LPU Tour and PR 03).

Sorry, I meant to say the LPU7 newsletter. The part where Chester talked about each band on the bill. Linkin Pedia has the quotes, including the Interpol quote under the Projekt Revolution 2008 page.

To me he sounds like he sang it in 2001, particularly the acoustic version at AAC 2001. Wow.
-
Interesting... lol.
-
Same. It wouldn't work for Linkin Park.
-
LOL. Nice find. Of course it's some brand. Nothing LP related in terms of music. Really cleared up a lot, thank you for this post.

Mike said it could be tomorrow, a week from now, 3 weeks from now. I think we will get something between tomorrow and 3 weeks from now at least. I hope...
-
Was it? It could have been, I don't really remember that far back. If they do it all at once that would be cool, too.

I think the single will drop before the album info does, like in the past. But I'm excited for that stuff, too. I think the single definitely will be this month as everyone has expected but the album is months away. Maybe a March or April release.
