  1. That's exactly what I did, too. I hated the idea of it originally, then I heard it through LPTV and decided that I liked it, then I heard the actual song and decided I hated it, and now I love it. I think I wasn't allowing myself to be open to it because it sounded ''poppy'', which was stupid. Good music is good music, fuck it. It's a good song. And the album sounds to be even better.
  2. I literally woke up and thought ''I'm missing out here. This is Linkin Park, my favorite band for most of my life. I won't stop being a fan.'' I then put on Heavy and kept replaying it with an open mind and actually broke down to the song. It relates to me a lot, lyrically. And then I noticed the emotion in Chester and Kiiara and it hit me. I love the final chorus of the song so much. And then I heard the instrumental version and loved it. It does fit in with Living Things.
  3. You're actually right, Astat, I was wrong for saying that. It's been a long time since Meteora and that was a period of Chester's life that was crazy for him. I was also out of line saying is he back on drugs, etc. But you made a good point and even though I don't want to, I have to agree. Linkin Park have been making different music since Meteora and it's nothing new. Back then, they really only had one ''sound''. And MTM and LT are my favorite albums so I'm not sure why I was so against this new album. I'm not anymore. MTM and LT have always been my favorite albums by Linkin Park and I'm starting to think this new album is kind of like a mix of the two. You have the emotional lyrics and stuff from MTM and the sound of LT in a sense. Of course the new album will have it's own unique sound and stuff too. But I was too harsh on it upon first hearing about it all, as well as Heavy. I think actually in 2014, I was bashing the heavy side of the band, saying I wanted slower music like MTM and LT. So my opinion has always changed drastically and it's admittedly kind of silly from me. I would rank the albums like this for me personally. MTM, LT, M, ATS, HT, THP.
  4. Because I brokedown and connected with the song last night and I decided that I don't give a fuck if it's pop music or not, it's LP, and they are my favorite band and always will be, I can't fight it. And once I got past the fact that I thought it was pop, I liked the song. And the rest of the album sounds amazing. Watched all the interviews for it so far today and I am pumped. Was a big fan of LT and MTM so I think I will enjoy this album. And that 150 dollar bundle was too epic to pass up. Heavy took a while for me to like it. After hearing the instrumental I loved it and then I started playing the studio version and have been playing it all day. Plus, I loved the album cover when I first saw it, and still do. And now that I know the meaning behind the album title, it makes it special. I am glad I noticed all of this sooner rather than later.
  5. This album is going to be fucking awesome now. Just ordered the 150 dollar bundle and Heavy has grown on me considerably. I like it now. Fuck it.
  6. It's funny that during an interview with NRK in 2003, Chester said ''Anyone who thinks their fans are annoying should be shot in the back of the head, execution style'' and how he's sitting on his Twitter completely trashing fans, etc. Man, money and fame can really change a person.
  7. Sounds like a MTM Demo. Very Alt-Rock sounding. Wow. Wish the album had this sound.....
  8. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EWQxweq6AZk Any member of this site should listen to this entire interview word for word. Wtf happened????
  9. A money maker? This shit sucks. Possibly one of the worst songs I've ever heard. And most fans know about THP, even the casual fans.
  10. That would be great. I bet there will be some other collaborations but maybe not vocal ones. I always wanted guests off of main albums but I didn't mind the ones who collaborated instrumentally, like Daron Malakian or Tom Morello for example. And it is interesting that Heavy was already completed before Kiiara ever even came in. Would love to have the demo of it. I'm not saying she doesn't have a good voice, I just don't care for female vocalists because of the sound. Not trying to be sexist sounding or anything because I respect women a lot and that's really the only thing in the world that I prefer males over females for is singing/screaming/whatever.
  11. Surprisingly, I always liked the way this one sounded. I think it sounds good. Blackbear is a much better artist than Kiiara IMO, as well. I said a lot of times before that I don't really like female vocalists, I never have, and I feel like that's largely why I disliked Heavy so much. I'm sure there will be more female vocalists on the album, however. But Blackbear is pretty good and this song does sound pretty good. The final version may sound drastically different than the version heard here, but I'm sure the melody will still be somewhat the same, since the melody and vocals are what the band worked on first, etc. Chester might also be singing the final version since we have seen that many times where Mike sings the demo and Chester sings the final version of songs but I think Mike's voice would fit this one better. I'm sure Chester would sound good, though.
  12. I literally HATE the studio version of the song and I really hate Chester's vocals in the studio version. He sounds much better live. Kiiara I felt like wasn't needed, either. That's why I can't wait for a live version where Kiiara isn't singing and Chester or Mike sings it all. I don't know who mixed this song but it's fucking horrible. I don't usually like studio music from Linkin Park anyways but this one is particularly bad and largely why I hated the song upon first listen and since. Even the demo in LPTV sounded better to me.
  13. Idk, to me, he just sounds differently. Maybe it's because you don't have the pop garbage going on in the background combined with the vocals like on the studio version. The studio version is also extremely overproduced, autotuned, etc. much like everything Linkin Park releases, which is why I hate the studio side of Linkin Park and only really listen to them live. But it sounds much better to me. Chester always has sounded better to me live than he does in the studio on anything he does.
  14. I've been going to LP shows since 2007 and I've heard Pushing Me Away (Piano Version), My December (Piano Version), Breaking The Habit (Piano Version at Edgefest 2008), IN MY REMAINS (Piano Version at Summit) and Ballad Medley a lot of times and this live version of Heavy sounds just like that stuff. Sounds like classic LP to me. If you listen to the first verse and chorus of Heavy studio version and then the first verse and chorus of Heavy live, it sounds drastically different. I imagine Chester singing the entire song live on tour will be epic if he does that this way.
  15. Ok, so apparently nobody mentioned this or I would have known earlier, Chester sings Heavy live normally? Sounds much better than the studio version and it sounds just like the piano versions of Pushing Me Away, My December, Breaking The Habit, etc. that the band has done in the past. Didn't know that. Only piano and vocals, it doesn't really sound poppy. I can dig the live version. I wouldn't mind seeing it at a show. I think a lot of what I didn't like about Heavy studio version was that I hated the vocals and the poppy sounding instrumental to go with it. Here, Chester sings it like he has every other slow LP song. Damn.
  16. Well thank you for acting being reasonable and understanding that not everyone is going to have the same opinion and that some people will express their love and/or hate for a release by the band. It's expected, IMO. For example, I love MTM, it's my favorite work from the band. But when it came out, there were a TON of hate comments. I didn't let that affect how much I loved it. I understand that with a musical release from the band, there will be different opinions expressed. And I didn't use profanity or anything like I said, I feel like I just saying how I feel and why I won't be buying the CD.
  17. Exactly. All I ask is that I'm allowed to state my opinion on something, whether it be a popular one or not. I don't want to attack people and I won't be attacking people individually based off of what they say, that is what I was trying to say yesterday. But I still think I should be able to say how I feel about things the band is doing. Isn't that the whole point of a discussion board?!? I didn't even use profanity or anything in my original post and I was called out by name in this thread before I even posted. I simply just said that I didn't want to buy the CD (I usually buy everything the band does, that's why) and that I didn't like the song, being the reasoning why I wouldn't be buying it. Sorry if that truly offended anyone.
  18. I wasn't even posting that for you. I was posting that at the comments in this thread in general. All I said in my original post is that I wouldn't be buying the CD and that I think the song is garbage. There wasn't a need to call me out specifically to another member before I ever even posted in the thread simply because Castro didn't like the song, either. People can just say that they plan to buy the CD because they enjoy the song, or people can say that they don't want to buy the CD and don't enjoy the song. I don't understand why that was a terrible thing to say.
  19. It's funny that I hardly ever mention anyone by name like Astat does. I literally just post my opinion. My opinion 100% had everything to do with the subject of this thread because I stated that I would not buy the CD and that I don't enjoy the song. Literally, Astat is the one who goes out of his way to mention me by name because I bring negative opinions about the song. So are we allowed to say we don't like the song or are only the people who love the song allowed to comment about it? Seems a bit crazy to me.
  20. I wouldn't buy this CD if it costed a dollar. Song is pure garbage. I would never support anything the band does for this song or album or even possibly the album cycle at all.
  21. Well, the thing is, The Hunting Party wasn't mainstream rock. They could have made a rock album again this time around but made it appeal to the mainstream and they would have found success, I'm sure of it. Songs like What I've Done or Iridescent or something, those are rock songs but they are slower rock, something the mainstream would like. I just didn't expect a full pop sound, complete with pop artists singing on the songs, etc. Darker Than Blood and Waiting For Tomorrow weren't even Linkin Park songs, just collabs for other artists, btw.
  22. It's funny that not long ago in 2015, Mike flat out said Linkin Park is a rock band but they draw influence from other genres such as electronic and hip-hop. At the core they are a rock band and always have been. Anybody who thinks otherwise is an idiot since Mike flat out said so. That's why I hate this new single and album. You could have went ''pop'' and still kept the rock backbone. Don't remember who you are at the end of the day. It's ok to experiment, after all, MTM and LT are my favorite albums. But don't completely abandon yourself for the sake of trying to sell albums or appeal to a 12 year old age group.
  23. Were the 2008 demos on LPU14 possibly the songs recorded during the break before PR08? We know the band was in the studio a little bit during that time and Mike said they recorded a few songs. Would have been between March and June 2008. Pretty interesting, maybe they were going for a heavy rock album before PR08, etc. but once they were done touring for MTM, they decided to make the style of ATS in September of 2008 or whenever they started working on ATS. Pretty cool. Not really a question, I guess, but what do you guys think?
  24. Well, to be fair, Mike did blast pop or whatever this kind of music is in 2014, but now he seems to have done a complete 180 on it. It's also my opinion if I think it's garbage, which I do. MTM is also my favorite album and it doesn't sound like HT, Meteora or THP much at all. I just envisioned a soft rock type album, something similar to how Iridescent sounded, that's the best way to describe the sound I was expecting. When people used to say ''full pop'' in 2014/2015, I didn't think Linkin Park would literally make this kind of music, I thought there was always going to at least be some ''Linkin Park'' flavor in it. But yeah, I see what you mean. I just think people are allowed to post how they feel about anything the band does, whether it be negative or not. The people who only like HT and Meteora are still fans just the same as the people who like this new direction, IMO.
  25. I hope so. Because I'm one of those people who go to the shows to hear stuff like In The End and Numb, but I don't want to hear only piano versions of those. I want to hear the actual songs how they were intended to be played. I will never get sick of hearing old songs at shows, even the biggest singles. And I think it's fine to experiment with how songs sound in different formats and what not but when you're playing a huge show where many people paid a lot of money to go to, play songs that people want to hear. A live show is much different than doing what you want creatively on a studio album, and virtually every big band in existence works that way.
