Nice. Cool litle set. 4 Death To Analog songs, I like that. Blue Monday is epic, too. Thank you!!!

Luckily, I downloaded all the DSP's from 2007 and 2008 last year. Didn't care for the stuff after 2008, but the DSP's really are badass. We know Chester loved being on stage more than anything, so re-uploading all the DSP's is a good way to honor him, Hahninator!

This is a post I've been wanting to make since like 2010. I always see fans citing Mike for saying ''I'm not on some What I've Done shit'' from the Meeting Of A Thousand Suns DVD as if he was saying that What I've Done is some garbage radio song. That is not what Mike meant at all by that, and it's extremely obvious. The band was talking about how they didn't yet have a ''big single'' for A Thousand Suns, as Rick pointed out. You can hear the entire conversation if you listen. But Brad flat out says that. Now, I'm sure many people know that Mike Shinoda literally went home in ONE NIGHT and wrote What I've Done, or ''Bang Three''. He brought it into the studio the very next day, Chester recorded his vocals, and it was done. It went on to become one of the band's biggest singles of their entire career, and also caught the interest of Michael Bay a few months later, who wanted to use the song in Transformers. So now, I'm sure you can piece together what he meant. He couldn't go home and just write a huge single just like that. His quote was ''I'm not on some What I've Done shit, like if that's what you're expecting, like that's all I've got''. I'm not sure why people think that he thought it meant it was some garbage song, but yeah. I hope this thread can clear that up for many people.

Has anybody on LPL gone to the current tour that Julien-K is on? I'm going to the Boston show on August 6th and purchased a VIP ticket. The last time Julien-K came to Massachusetts was in 2007, they played two shows that year, one on Projekt Revolution 2007 and one with Evanescence on their tour. So this will be cool to finally see them again, since I saw them on Projekt Revolution 2007 in Mansfield. I'm probably gonna bring my Death To Analog CD to get signed, I was debating on bringing my Death To Analog Vinyl to get signed, by I realized that would be annoying to carry. I also have a few cool things from the Julien-K Street Team that I got in 2009, such as a set of Julien-K matches, a postcard thing, etc. that I would like to show Ryan. Anyways, my question is does anyone know a setlist? I'm hoping they will play some Death To Analog stuff. I know PIG headlines.

Chester's death was so sudden and unexpected, and tragic, that the band really has had no time to think about anything, most likely. Mike and the rest of the band seem very broken by it and it's only been a short amount of time. They also had tons of touring ahead for this album since it just came out, so it's probably very hectic for them to change or cancel all of it, probably even some stuff we didn't even know about.

Linkin Park was already going for a super pop sound on One More Light, so do they really need a new vocalist? I don't see anything on One More Light that Mike wouldn't be able to sing. I could also see Mike being able to handle most stuff of A Thousand Suns, Living Things and some of The Hunting Party. The only really challenging stuff from Chester would be the songs on Minutes To Midnight, Meteora and Hybrid Theory. But Mike could even sing some of those albums. If they make an entire new album with Mike as lead singer, they could incorporate that whole album, as well as about ten old songs. They could easily do it. And as time goes on, keep making albums, thus adding more Mike lead songs. The band is already 20 years into their career, I mean it's not like they're a new band. They would never be able to replicate the success of the early albums even if Chester was still alive and in the band. I think this is the most logical choice. Keep in mind that this is also all my opinion, I think the band should do what they think is the right thing.

I honestly don't care what Linkin Park does now. They can do whatever they want to do, it's their call, they have to do what feels right to them, I guess. I haven't really liked Linkin Park's music since the end of 2008 when Minutes To Midnight ended, because to me, Minutes To Midnight was their last good album and also the last good touring cycle, and it went out with a BANG with Projekt Revolution 2008 with Chris Cornell, etc. They really have three options. They can continue on as a 5 piece band with Mike providing lead vocals, they can replace Chester with a new singer and continue making music like they were, or they can call it quits. I support any of those, however, I support replacing Chester the least, but it might be inevitable. Mike can't sing all the stuff that Chester did, and they'd have to completely change the live show to style Mike as the lead singer, which they could do if they write an entire album with Mike singing each song, they could play that album, plus a few older ones like Invisible, etc.

I think we will get LPU 17...

Would somebody mind uploading the Raleigh, NC 2015 show for STP in mp3?

If I find any others, I will post here in this thread.

Thanks, guys. I guess the only thing that I can say now is that we all (all of us hardcore fans in the community) have to carry on, because that's what Chester would want, and we also have to show the band that, too. I can't imagine how the band must be feeling.....

Placebo posted a huge thing last week. Surprised it's not on here.

July 20th was one of the hardest days of my entire life. My little sister was actually the first person to text me about Chester. I had been busy that morning and wasn't online, and she sent me the TMZ article. When I read it, I knew it was true. There have been many times that false death rumors have come for celebrities, but for some reason, I instantly felt sick to my stomach and started to feel very anxious. Once Mike Shinoda confirmed it, I knew. I may have been a troll in the community since the beginning for the most part, and I know I've said crazy stuff, but Chester was my hero for such a long time, and that's me being 100% true from my heart. I wanted to be just like him for so many years. He was my hero. I thought he was the greatest person to ever live, at least in my mind. I looked up to him so much and could relate to some of his struggles that he went through. His voice was something special to me. I found comfort in his voice from the first time that I ever heard it. He helped me in so many ways that I couldn't possibly list them all. But I was a really depressed and angry kid when I first heard Chester sing. I was around 12 when I first heard it, and my parents had just got divorced. On top of that, I was dealing with a lot of emotional issues. I can't get too much into it but I was extremely depressed, angry, and suicidal. I was a very, very angry kid. Therapists at the time even though I was exceptionally angry for my age. I was thinking about suicide and many other things around that time. It's hard for me to even think about those days, because I get sick thinking about it, but Chester's death has forced me to. His voice and music really helped me deal with everything I was feeling, more than any other band or artist could. But more than the music, I looked up to him as a person. I thought he was someone who went through a lot, but overcame it all, I thought he was strong, I thought he was my hero. I genuinely did, I don't just say that because everyone does. Chester has helped me with everything I have gone through in my life. I am forever grateful. This cuts me really, really deep. It hurts more than family deaths, even. It hurts more than anything I have ever gone through. I will never forget Chester. From the minute that I found out about his death, I vowed that I would never forget him, that I would always love him and that he will always be with me in my heart and soul. I will think about him every single day for the rest of my life until I die. I haven't healed from it yet at all, and I probably never fully will, but rest in peace Chester, my hero, I love you in so many ways that nobody could ever understand except for myself. If there is such thing as life after death, I hope we can meet again.

If you stay up to current with the music scene, yes. Not everyone is always listening to the newest trends and artists. I barely even listen to any music made after like 2008. And I don't mean Linkin Park, although I do consider most of everything they have done after MTM to be garbage. I listen to music from so many bands and artists lately, a lot that I never knew about, a lot that I am re-experiencing, etc. Just because something isn't popular in 2017 doesn't make it bad to me. I still enjoy the fuck out of the nu-metal genre from yesteryear and I probably always will. I can confidently say that I could listen to Hybrid Theory, Meteora and Minutes To Midnight only for the rest of my life only and be ok with it. But I do like listening to other bands and artists. So I don't think it's fair to ''laugh'' at it just because it's not what's popular in 2017. As for how the band is treating it, it's nothing new. Chester slammed nu-metal and nu-metal bands, etc. as far back as 2007. I think one of Chester's actual quotes from an interview in 2007 was ''I fucking hate nu-metal. I never liked any of the bands, even the ones that I toured with''. I think the reason for the massive amount of hate the band has been getting is because with THP coming out only a few years ago, they were trashing the kind of music that they are now releasing. You can say that Mike didn't really say that but cmon, just watch/listen to most interviews from THP era and you'll see, whether you admit it or not. Maybe the band shouldn't have been bashing the music that they are now releasing so hard if they were thinking about making it in the future. I'm sure Mike regrets saying it now, but I don't think anybody takes him seriously when he says Heavy isn't pop, etc. It's a pop song. Whether you like it or not doesn't make a difference, because it's ok to like pop, but just call it what it is, I think Chester even referred to as pop in a more recent interview. I don't think the band needs to be trashing the original fans or anything because there's really no reason to. Linkin Park will always be remembered for Hybrid Theory the most out of anything and they obviously liked the kind of music that they made in 1997-2008 or else they wouldn't have put it out. It's ok for a band to evolve and grow and change over the years but it's the fact that MOST bands don't go bashing certain kinds of music only to make said music down the line. And one more thing, I think another thing is that none of Linkin Park's ''progression'' has really felt natural to me since MTM. Keep in mind that this is only my sole opinion. Meteora to me was a obvious and natural progression of Hybrid Theory. The band basically just refined and tuned up the sound they had on Hybrid Theory. You see small glimpses of what would come in the future through songs like Easier To Run, Breaking The Habit and Numb. Minutes To Midnight felt like a natural progression to me from Meteora as well. They didn't completely ditch the sound of the band, they just made a very organic and raw sound out of it and took out some of the nu-metal elements. Given Up, Bleed It Out and No More Sorrow all kept that ''heavy'' sound we had come to expect but it was done differently, it felt more '''mature'' sounding, especially Bleed It Out, since it kept that rock and hip-hop clash but did it tastefully. Given Up was basically a more raw and more straight forward rock sounding Don't Stay, etc, same for No More Sorrow. You also had songs that had more of a hip-hop and electronic influence such as Leave Out All The Rest, Hands Held High, In Pieces, etc. but they were done naturally and more stripped down compared to the old albums, etc. They kept that core sound of the band that combined rock, hip-hop and electronic music, I guess is what I'm saying. They also experimented with new styles, writing ballad type songs like Shadow Of The Day. They also experimented with songs that didn't follow the normal structure they had done in the past with stuff like Valentine's Day, In Between and The Little Things Give You Away. A Thousand Suns is where it felt unnatural to me, because IMO, it sounded NOTHING like the Linkin Park of the first 3 albums. I know the band was going for that, but they should have still made it feel like an evolution of the MTM sound, which I think sounded nothing like that. LT was very strange in the sense that it really didn't sound like ATS or anything the band had done up to that point at all. I think this is where LP truly lost who they were as a band, it just felt kind of forced and extremely unnatural to me. THP was extremely strange since it had this straight forward hard rock sound that the band had never done before, IMO, it sounded nothing like the style of heavy music the band made with the first 3 albums, at least to me. But it felt very strange to make an album like that after LT. Then the newest album, OML, is perhaps the strangest of all. It's basically the sound that Linkin Park was bashing obsessively during THP cycle. I thought maybe they would go for a softer rock, maybe indie rock, type of sound after THP. I thought LT would remain the poppiest thing they had done. They definitely change their entire sound up with each album since ATS, but it just feels unnatural to me. Some bands change their sound each album but it feels more natural to me.
-
If they change the entire set to suit OML, I likely won't go to the shows. I want to hear songs off of Hybrid Theory, Meteora and Minutes To Midnight only but I understand that they're going to play songs from other albums as well. However, I don't want to hear only piano versions or stripped down versions of old songs. No hate, I just would rather not pay money for a ticket and pay money to travel to see music that I don't want to see.
-
They did like 1 song a set that was ''stripped down'' in the old days like 2007 and 2008. Not the same. I likely won't even bother going to the shows anymore. I want to hear songs from the first 3 albums played how they are on the albums.

Chester sounds badass rapping Heavydirtysoul. Can't wait to hear him rap on the album! I've always enjoyed his rap style in B12, Blackout, Sabotage, etc.
-
Definitely will be tuning it. Really cool. I wonder if Kiiara will be performing the song with them for this or it will just be Linkin Park.
-
Makes a lot of sense and I understand why he left the band. You can't blame the guy for wanting to spend more time with his kids and it sucks that it affected them like that.
-
I think 10 is the perfect number for a great album. Can't wait to hear some more tracks and I enjoyed a lot of these interviews, really cool.
-
Agreed, it took me many times to get into Heavy but now I love it as well. And the interviews today got me extremely hyped, from Chester's lyric in Halfway Right, to Chester talking about all these new songs, etc. It's gonna be awesome.

I met Pooch a few times over the years, once in 2012 and again in 2014. He was a very nice guy. Sucks he is moving on, but I wish him all the best.

I'm tight on cash as well, which sucks, but I felt like I had to buy it. I have the MTM Super Fan Edition as well as the ATS Super Fan Edition and I bought the version of THP that came with that exclusive book, etc. So I needed it. And I think the actual stuff for the album looks really cool, too. I like the album art a lot. And I love that coffee table book, looks just like the book that came with MTM.

This is epic to have a timeline of.
