I don't hate Mark but he really isn't that good of a vocalist. I'm sure he would even agree at this point, since he really hasn't recorded much of anything (except for like Barack Your World and that Ground Zero song which I'm not even sure if it's him or not) since 1997. LOL. He also attempted to scream a few times on the Xero cassette and it just sounded awful.

Julien-K is releasing a full set from the Evanescence Tour in 2007 as part of Time Capsule later this year. It will probably be the best and only time we ever get a Julien-K proper live album. And DTA was their best album and best tour anyways, so it should be good.

Austin would have actually been a decent fit but the reason that he quit Of Mice & Men was because of his health issues that prevented him from touring pretty much. I don't think that would be a good fit for a band like Linkin Park who tours a lot and is always making music when not. If they chose a metalcore vocalist, it wouldn't really be ''similar'' to Chester. I mean they will need someone who can scream and sing, so of course it will be similar in that sense. But nobody in the world really sounds similar to Chester, at least not to me, or Mike Shinoda, since he says that in the Making Of Minutes To Midnight DVD. He says ''I consider Chester one of the best singers of our time. I challenge anyone to sing a song that he sings, to cover the song, and make it sound anything like him, you can't do it.'' But anyways, there are tons of great metalcore vocalists out there. I could name a ton. Even probably some great ones who have yet to be really discovered in the public eye. Look at the roster for Warped Tour each year in the past like 8 years and you'll find a good one. Jeff Gutt has already said he has no interest in being the lead singer for Linkin Park, and I really don't understand the hard-on everyone has for him on this site. He was a generic nu-metal vocalist almost 20 years ago. Sure, he sounded good singing Hallelujah, but cmon. We are talking about fronting Linkin Park here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfoV2L2MkQ4 Pretty cool, Chester says he did one of those ancestry things and he found out he was mostly all German, and he always thought he was of English descent because of his name. He also said that the first time he went to Germany, he felt like he belonged. Pretty cool for all the German fans out there, huh?

Any metalcore vocalist would work, since they can both scream and sing and do aggressive vocals, etc. Tons and tons of singers out there they could choose. I know they're grieving still but they need to consider the future of the band. Don't leave it as a guess to the fans. Are they continue or not and in what capacity? It's not fair that everyone in the band has to throw away their career and all the fans have to throw away their favorite band because one person committed suicide. It won't be the same without Chester, but who the hell expects it to? They could find a metalcore vocalist and do a big tour, record some new music, etc. Maybe even re-record some of the old music.

There are some shows that I like, but not that many. I remember some people would listen to every single DSP. I have the DSP's for all the shows that I went to in 2007 and 2008 on my phone and I keep all the others stored on a hard drive. Some shows had a special performance here and there, like Bleed It Out from East Troy 2008, etc. But as far as I'm concerned, a lot of them sounded the same to me. I mean 2007 and 2008 shows still had some epic banter and stuff during the show, like 2000-2006 did. Most DSP's from 2009 and onwards are the same, though, since they stopped with the banter for the most part and the set didn't changed as much starting with that year.

It would be way too hard to type it all. It was really long and drawn out, but in a good way. Maybe someone reading this can do it. I wonder if Linkin Park will have the same format if they do a memorial.

Hearing Ryan's speech was so hard. Ripped me open just like July 20th did. It was so heartbreaking. He even broke down. But somehow, it made me feel a bit better. And hearing these songs, even though they didn't sound amazing (how could they without the legendary CB singing them), they also helped me feel a bit better. I'm glad they did this today and it's also great because it shows that Chester wasn't just Linkin Park - he had his own music that was just as amazing out there as well, and I'm glad I got to see a lot of it live and listen to the music over the years. I'm confident that if I was at this event I would have been even more of an emotional wreck than I am now.

Actually, the pictures were probably the best part of the DSP. Almost every show the band has ever played during this time sounds the same so collecting each DSP seems stupid to me. 2007 and 2008 had some epic moments and epic banter but after that they all were the same pretty much to me.

My entire iTunes was erased and I haven't had any motivation to restore any of it. Too depressed. And it will take forever.

Grey Daze & Julien-K Team-Up For Chester Tribute Show

Look, maybe you guys are right. It's just been hard for me to think about them continuing on without Chester, and harder if they replace him. But I know it has to happen, I can't be selfish. I just miss Chester so much, I hate this. -

Just because he wrote them doesn't mean he performed them, though. Chester sang both of those entirely. Would you say the credit for everything Taylor Swift has done is credited to her ghost writers? She's the one performing it, she is the voice of what those people wrote. It's the same thing. I'm not saying Mike isn't talented, but it's crazy to me to assume that he will be able to perform every song on a big tour each year or two, selling out huge venues around the world. If they find a replacement vocalist, it could be done. They literally haven't said anything about continuing as a 5 piece, just that they would like to discuss the future of Linkin Park, etc. It's just as likely they'll get a replacement vocalist as it is that they'll remain a 5 piece. -

That's good then. You'll always have their music to listen to. I still listen to the first three albums as much as I did when I first heard them, that's the beauty of good music. -
As far as I know, only the clean version, unfortunately. I always hoped it would surface somewhere in an explicit version. I won't even listen to it because it's not explicit. I don't like music that was edited from how the artist originally intended it.

I mean, the thing is, that I've never understood about this site's community, is that everyone can have their own opinion. I can have mine and you can have yours. A lot of times here it seems like you kind of have to agree with the general opinion or else you're kind of bullied about it. I also never said people care MORE about the band continuing than Chester's death, but that people seem like it's something that you can simply just overcome. It affected the band immensely on a business level, not only an emotional level. It will be very very hard to continue on, which is why I laid out a few options. If they plan on being able to tour the world and sell out the huge venues that they did with Chester, they'll absolutely need a new vocalist who can handle both the singing and screaming that Chester did in the past. They could find a guy who could do it, just look at all the vocalist in the metalcore and metal world, etc. It won't be the same but they can do that. If they continue as a 5 piece, it would be very much different, let's be realistic. That's why when people like JZE said they can't simply continue with Mike as the lead singer, I agreed. But these Japanese shows in a few months time are at huge venues... are they going to find a replacement before that? They'll surely have to rehearse a shit on and welcome this person into the band before then. -

Just from what I've seen - here and elsewhere - some people seem to have this attitude as like oh they can easily continue, what's the big deal? Let's go. It's not that easy. Chester was the biggest part of this band. He was the heart and soul. He sang almost every ''hit'' the band ever had. It will EXTREMELY hard to play live without him. It's not as easy as many think. That's why I said before that they should just get a new singer if they plan on doing that. I don't think it's realistic at all to think the band will be able to play these huge venues that they've been playing in the future without Chester. Maybe I will be proven wrong, but I really doubt it. I think people need to start thinking realistically if they are going to talk about the future of the band. And like I said, I didn't say it was certain that the band wouldn't continue in the future. I said it likely won't be the same at all. They can't just simply continue on with the way they were doing things before Chester died. Chester dying changed literally everything about the band and the future of the band. If I didn't want to be called an asshole, I would say that Chester really kind of left the band high and dry if you ask me. But I won't say that because I know Chester didn't intend that. It will be hard for the band to continue on unless they get a new vocalist. They could continue as a 5 piece, but understand that if they choose that, they likely will not be playing the venues they've been playing for years and it will be extremely different. -
How many full recordings do we have from the tour? Not counting those promo performances, I mean like actual shows, starting with Buenos Aires, in front of crowds, etc. I only have the full Southside Festival or whatever mp3. I want all the full recordings from the tour but I'm having trouble finding out what we have for some reason, the mp3 section is very cluttered.

Grey Daze & Julien-K Team-Up For Chester Tribute Show
Geki replied to lpliveusername's topic in Newswire
Because Chester was the lead singer of the band. He was the heart and soul of the band. When most people think of Linkin Park, they think of Chester Bennington's voice. If they end up replacing him, that person will have huge shoes to fill. Linkin Park will always be remembered for the music they made with Chester anyways, no matter what they do in their career from here. They're already late into their career with seven main albums, various other releases, several Grammy wins, etc. Hybrid Theory came out 17 years ago almost now. Whenever people think about Linkin Park in the scope of history, it's going to be for all those huge hits with Chester, and Chester's legacy. Maybe even more so now that Chester died so tragically. So that goes to say, they probably won't be able to continue to headline these huge venues around the world each year. They won't get the crowds they did in the past without Chester. And how do we even know this is what Linkin Park wants??? All I see are fans basically speaking for the band. Linkin Park hasn't really said much of anything yet. Just because they talked about the future of the band doesn't mean it's going to continue to be the same exact thing just without Chester. A lot will likely change. Chester's death heavily impacted the band not just on a personal level, but on a business level as well. He committed suicide a week before they were set to go on a huge U.S. tour for the new album. It wasn't like they were on an off year and making a new album or something. They had to cancel a lot of their plans for this touring cycle with 2017 and 2018 and a ton of stuff we probably won't even know about. They may continue by November with those Japan shows in those huge venues but who knows what the future of the band will be - only the band knows that, not the fans. It seems like fans are like pissed or something and care more about their ''favorite band'' not being a thing anymore than Chester's passing. It's just a band. There are tons of bands out there. Tons of music to listen to. Linkin Park had a good run. Appreciate the memories you have with Linkin Park and that you were able to be a part of it all. And I'm not saying that the band won't continue, they likely will. But on the off chance that they don't, could you blame them? Fans are really kind of being selfish about it. They don't owe you anything. They have put out seven fucking albums - tons of music. -
What does ''build the future of the band'' mean, though? Are they going to be equipped to play huge venues in Japan? Are they continuing as a 5 piece now, or are they replacing Chester with a new vocalist? I know it's early to ask all of this stuff, but it's been over a month now since Chester passed, and these shows are coming up in a few months time. I guess time will tell. But I am intrigued.

After talking to you yesterday, I realized what it was. My bad for my original post here. I overreacted. I've really just been very depressed lately and going through a lot, tons of stuff going on in my personal life, plus Chester's death, etc. -
I am interested to see what the band is going to do... And hope they decide by the end of 2017. I probably won't be a ''fan'', but I just want some closure on the future.

Stupid that they'd play those without Chester, IMO. I like how Linkin Park isn't doing that type of stuff right now. IMO, nobody can sing like Chester. You don't see Mike up on stage trying to sing Chester's Linkin Park stuff. -
I've been listening to LP a lot but dude I know how you feel. I teared up tonight listening to the Ballad Medley from Beijing 2015, watching Chester cry and sing those up close. I always thought Shadow Of The Day was a haunting song, but I never knew how real it was until now, same as LOATR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDh0U4ktAWg

I think something important that people need to remember is that my opinion that only the first three albums are good, to me personally, is 100% fine too, just like people who like the new album, all albums, etc. Linkin Park has different era's, you're gonna have fans of all.
