Good to hear. How could you have a tribute for Chester and NOT have Julien-K? I mean really.
-
I got mine yesterday. Listened to it. Indeed the mixes of SOTD and NRL from 2013. But fuck it, the Vinyl is still cool and I have the original MTM on vinyl anyways. I've seen people acting like the photos of the band members on Side B are like new photos. These people know that those photos have been out since 2007 right? I guess the new era fans might not know. MTM super fan pack, MTM special edition and more. They are cool for the Vinyl.
-
Anybody have an mp3 rip of Julien-K at Projekt Revolution 2007? I know there was Hartford 2007, a full source, and also Detroit webcast (I am aware a few songs were cut).
-
AOTY... not sure if I agree with it being the best album of the year. I didn't enjoy the album at all and I thought there were tons of other great releases this year that were much better and more deserving of the award for that. Maybe they will get SOTY. But even then, I'm not sure. We will see. I'll probably vote for LP if they are included just because but I might not vote for them for album of the year.
-
I am banned from the Shoutbox so I can't see it. Haha. But I think it came in the mail yesterday actually, there was a package for me when I got home, I'll open it soon.
-
I hope I get my copy in the mail soon.
-
I'm confident people will record it, for sure. Like Astat said, it's up to the user livestreaming it if they want it to be archived or not, but Linkin Park has archived their livestream stuff in the past with Facebook videos, etc. Maybe they will do it here, too. If not, I'm sure someone will record it, or many people. I'm gonna tune in to the livestream while it happens unless I have something preventing me from doing so.
-
I would hope so. But yeah it will and should be available online everywhere after.
-
Recently, I saw some track titles for songs that didn't make OML. I can't remember for the life of me where I saw them. ''Spiderweb'' was one of them. I was wondering if anyone knows where that came from? Was Spiderweb in particular on a board? I have a spider web tattoo so I've kind of become obsessed with that title. Lol. I hope we can get it on LPU 17 or some other LPU.
-
You are the master at knowing all of this type of stuff. Haha.
-
Badass! Thanks for sharing.
-
That mix has been out since 2013. Interesting it was the version included on this vinyl, though. It was released with the mastered for iTunes releases in 2013, like lpliveusername mentioned. It also had a different mix of SOTD, as well as a few other songs, I think.

They probably won't play obscure tracks like that. It will probably be mostly singles that are performed, IMO. I could see A7X on GATS, that would be epic, and Mike could rap Rakim's verse, etc. Jonathan Davis is basically confirmed to be doing OSC. Kiiara will most definitely do Heavy. Ryan Key possibly WID. MGK possibly BIO. I think it will be a majority of singles. Someone might do Crawling.
-
I thought that Chester nailed Crawling up until like 2009. With the ATS era, it fell apart, so it was better that they changed it eventually. But yeah, it's an epic video. During the making of MTM (webster hall theater edition), Mike went in depth about Given Up and how they made the song, the 18 second scream, etc. Sucks we never got a video of it again. But yeah, Mike was probably like oh shit, Chester is the man. Haha.
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb7_tz5-ODU Never saw that video until now. Chester said that Given Up had 20 different versions and that it originally started off as more of a punk song. He said that the 18 second scream was somewhat of a joke at first but it ended up staying. Just wanted to share that so we can have some info on Given Up, since it's one of my favorite songs of all time!!
-
I agree with most of that. The only ones that I could see that Mike may struggle with are Crawling, What I've Done and possibly New Divide, the choruses during those are kind of challenging, but he could always just have the crowd sing those since they are anthems anyways. Hell, just drop New Divide, I've wanted that song dropped since like 2010. One of the few songs by LP that I literally hate. But that's a huge list of songs there. They could easily make a set out of it.
-
The band has drastically changed up their sound beginning with ATS. A lot of the songs from ATS through OML, Mike can handle, trust me. The most challenging songs vocally would be some of the songs from HT, Meteora and MTM. But Mike could just make most of the set songs from ATS-OML, along with the big big singles from the first three albums, and create a new album, etc. The set could EASILY work, IMO. Stuff like Given Up, yeah, I can't see that coming back, but why would it? Think realistically!
-
Yeah. A lot of the old singles don't even need someone to sing the chorus - the fans will for sure cover that duty every night. Think about how loud the crowd has sang stuff like In The End, Numb, Crawling, etc. The band no longer played stuff like Given Up anyways. The crowd can sing the stuff still with Faint, etc. Mike has improved very much since he first started singing with MTM. He is good now. He can handle a lot more than what some fans give him credit for. Trust me, I am a huge fan of Chester, but he's gone.... The only person that I think is worthy to carry the torch is Mike. Anyone who doubts Mike, listen to stuff like Invisible, Sorry For Now, Devil's Drop, It Goes Through, Rebellion, etc. Listen to how Mike sang Final Masquerade. He sang LOATR perfectly in 2017 with that intro. He can do it all. And the band can make new music that will obviously fit Mike since he will be the only singer. I don't see why they need to bring in some entirely new vocalist. They already have 7 main albums under their belt. Tons of other projects. Have been touring the world since 2000. Have won Grammy's and many other awards. The band doesn't need to try and rebuild the band to cater to the people who want to hear the heavy songs of the old days. Hahninator, me and tons of other fans would love to see the band play a proper show again, and I'd be fine with the set not having heavy songs with screaming. The 2017 sets barely did as it was! I don't see how my point is wrong, JZE. Exactly. Would the band even be worrying about that the most anyways? I would imagine their primary goal would be to keep creating new music in the studio, and with only having one vocalist now, it will for sure be different. I think the band will have tons of fun creating once they feel comfortable. The tour stuff would most likely come after the band making music again, and they have PLENTY of huge singles that don't require crazy screaming, etc. Hell, their biggest singles, In The End and Numb, don't. The crowd could 100% sing those, as well as Mike. Look at the set that was used in 2017. They got rid of Given Up, etc. The ''screaming'' parts were only for short periods in a few songs, the crowd can handle that shit. I've literally seen bands play that let the crowd sing more than the actual singer does. And people enjoy it. I'm sure people attending a show would understand that Chester tragically died and that the show will be a little bit different. I mean really. Mike is a master of improv. And he mashs stuff up together and makes it sound epic, like you said. He also is better than a lot of fans give him credit for, which I can't say enough. He has improved since he first started singing in 2007. He is so much better nowadays, and surely, he will be working on getting even better now. Linkin Park was Mike's band. He is the founder of the band, he always was. Chester has said it many times, as well as the other members. Linkin Park is and always was, Mike's baby. And I feel like the person who should carry the torch for Chester is Mike. I'm not sure why some people are against a 5 piece LP. They have made tracks without Chester that sound awesome. Not saying Chester wasn't my favorite part of the band, but they still sounded great nowadays without him. I think people think it will sound like Xero or some shit. I picture something more along the lines of It Goes Through, which is an epic song.
-
Can't wait to see how the Hollywood Bowl event turns out. I hope it will give the band the spark they need to continue on in 2018.
-
Mike can sing a lot of them and if they make a new album, in time, they'll make another album, etc. They could make an entire set of those albums. Think of it as a rebirth for the band. They're starting over. They don't need to only live off of the success of the past albums. Nobody in the world can sound anything like Chester or be like Chester, so your argument is invalid by saying Mike can't. Nobody can. If people got mad because the band didn't play all of those old songs, they're probably really asshole people. There was a huge devastating loss in the world of the band, so things will obviously be different. Do you want the band to end? What do you mean accept it?
-
Hopefully today will give the band the push they need to carry on and make a new album and tour, etc. They can do it as a 5 piece.
-
I asked Lorenzo tonight if he knows if there will be a LPU 17 and he said he doesn't know as of right now, and he is handling the memorial concert business first. I told him it's very understandable and thanks. So I guess it's up in the air right now.

What about a demo CD of their biggest hits like Numb, BID, Crawling
-
I really don't have the money at all. Been a really tough year for me in every way possible, even before Chester's death, and it doesn't show any sign of letting up. I did say in my original post that I wouldn't feel entirely at home there since there are definitely bigger fans out there than me - many of the people that posted here - because I don't really ''love'' all of their music, but I would still enjoy going. I also have commitments that wouldn't allow me to go, people depend on me. It sucks all around... but what can you do. I hope I'll at least be able to watch some of it on YouTube after it happens, etc. Anyways, thank you very much for the offer. I really appreciate it. You've always been a really cool member of this site. Someone should definitely take you up on that offer. I'm not sure if all the guests listed will actually perform, but they might. I could see Jonathan Davis doing One Step Closer, Oli Sykes on something heavy off of HT or Meteora, possibly even BIO. I could see Kiiara obviously doing Heavy, which I'm sure will be performed in some fashion. I can't see Jon Green doing Nobody Can Save Me, maybe he will, and maybe Mike will sing the song? I think Mike could for sure sing that song, but who knows. Blink-182 will probably do like Numb, since Mark Hoppus has done Numb with the band before. Ryan Key will probably do WID, despite how badly it sounded at Warped Tour, IMO. No offense to anyone who liked him on the song. He did SOTD, right? That one might be better, and it's a fitting song. WID is just too ''Chester'' to me, I just feel like that's one of those songs that has Chester's signature all over it. SOTD, I've heard some great covers of it. A7X doing GATS would be sick, but not sure if they'd do that one. A7X and THP just seem like a fit. Bleed It Out is probably the best song for collaborators. The band has literally said that in the past, that they can add anything into Bleed It Out. It's for sure one of my favorite songs of all time. But I could see MGK doing his rap in BIO, Travis Barker doing a drum solo in BIO, a number of the guests doing a lot of shit during it.

You're so right. Haha. I'm glad that Chester worked as much as he did to create stuff. His legacy will forever live on. Strangely, I'm more excited for the Julien-K stuff than I am the DBS stuff. I've come to really love Death To Analog a lot in specific over the last few years and I think it will be really cool to hear early versions of the songs from the album, as well as songs that didn't make their way onto the album, etc. And now that Ryan said you can faintly hear Chester in Shaking, a track included, that's badass. I also love the fact that Ryan and Amir found a tape with the entire Tinley Park 2007 set on it. Holy shit. I've wanted that for like 9 years. It's holy grail worthy, IMO. We've had KTB from it in poor quality for years. I always wanted to hear the whole set, it was epic as hell, I've seen a few fan videos from it, clips, and it's a super tease. Haha. If they do end up releasing that, I will be extremely happy, and will pay whatever the hell amount they would charge for it, just to have it. Hell, I'll make a damn CD out of it and play it in my car, as well as watch it on DVD. The DBS stuff is probably cool but unless it's very early 2005 demos, it doesn't interest me, really. I now agree with all the people that said Howard Benson kind of ruined the album in a way. Just look at how epic the 2005 version of Let Down is. If they made a studio version of the song done in that manner, with electric guitars, it would have been epic, but it was changed, and had a shitty outro. We also know My Suffering was changed drastically, etc. It possibly could have been Chester that decided to change them, but even if he did, I still would prefer the original DBS songs, the way they were. I remember Chester saying in December of 2005 that the album was 90% done. So it's obvious that the 2005 versions are complete songs. They were also written simply by Chester singing with an acoustic guitar, so you know we won't get some ''donna'' shit. Warner also might be a bitch agreeing to release the DBS stuff, in that case, fuck it. As for the unreleased stuff with LP, I would love it. Tons of great shows they recorded over the years, many of them, as well as many great unreleased demos and stuff, from all albums, especially the early ones. I'd love to hear the unreleased Meteora and MTM songs. I think a cool way for LP to honor Chester would be to keep releasing some cool tracks from the vault over the years with LPU. Fans would like it and it wouldn't require much of the band, just go through the vault every year and pick some cool stuff.
