Pretty stupid if there’s no CD. I definitely won’t buy it if there isn’t. I think there will be. Mike played a show, has made new music, done interviews, etc. He is strong. And I think this will be a good way to honor Chaz with some awesome unreleased songs for the hardcore fans.

The instrumental seems to way different to me. Mike’s also singing it a little different as well. And who knows what changes the song went through. Maybe Blackbear did a verse instead of Chester. Who knows. Maybe there was never a rap verse. I’d like to hear a demo of it. If it weren’t up to me it would be old school demos only but I try to talk about other ones too from other albums.

That's great if the lyrics of the album connected with you and terrible things you have had to go through. I'm sorry to hear that, I really am. That's the reason why I love HT, Meteora and MTM so much, I very much connected with the lyrics on all of those albums and they really spoke to me. When I first got into the band and I listened to Meteora and Hybrid Theory, I was about 13. My parents had just got divorced a year before or so and it was just a hard time for me. Middle School was really hard for me, being bullied to an extent and my home life was just really hard, my Dad was really hard to deal with back then. The whole shut up part of OSC reminded me of when my Dad got pissed, cuz he was drunk and abusive to my Mom in verbal and physical form. I often found myself listening to songs like Papercut, Crawling, Somewhere I Belong, Numb, etc. at night with my headphones and crying and just feeling better because I felt like someone was there for me. I didn't have any friends growing up at that age. So I really felt like those albums were my friend. And not just those songs, I related to all the songs pretty much from HT and Meteora during that time. I remember in my Moms old house that I literally wrote ''I'll paint it on the walls, cause I'm the one at fault, I'll never fight again, and this is how it ends'' on the wall in huge lettering. Haha so much emo angst. Once MTM came out, I was 16, turning 17 3 months after the album dropped. A lot had changed, I had started driving, I made some friends, I got my first job, I ran away from my Dads and moved in with my Mom. But I still had very dark times during it all and I found the songs on the album to help me a lot. Then my Grandpa died right before PR08 and he was very close to me, and songs like LOATR, SOTD, VD, those really helped me a lot through it. I then got dumped by my first love a little while later and songs like Given Up helped me because I was suicidal and hated myself. In Pieces did too. Eventually I used songs like WID to help me overcome it all and try to be a better person, etc. So I get where you are coming from. I'll admit, sometimes when I listen to music, I listen to the actual music more than the lyrics or message of the lyrics, etc. I find myself doing that a lot. I'll get hooked on the instrumental and not even pay attention to the words. But sometimes I will just connect with the lyrics. I don't experience it much, but I truly did with the first three LP albums. Like pretty much every song on those albums, it's crazy. But yeah, you bring up perhaps one of the best points so far in the thread. Everyone experiences music differently, just like genres in stuff like movies. Everyone has what they like.

If Hybrid Theory or Meteora came out today, they wouldn't be at all popular on radio. People should think about that. Can you picture OSC blowing the fuck up on radio in 2017? I can't. The lyrics on those albums were actually mature and dark as fuck. They had moments of anger, sadness, isolation, etc. I grew up my entire life feeling those things and I really connected with the lyrics on them when growing up and even now at age 27. Fuck it. Chester was 27 when Meteora came out. The lyrics are real. It doesn't have some shit pop Disney sound like OML does. Or even ATS and LT. HT, Meteora and MTM were the golden age of Linkin Park, they'll never be topped.
-
I don't think ALL of OML is that shitty. I think the sound of songs like Good Goodbye, Battle Symphony, Invisible, Heavy and possibly Talking To Myself are extremely mainstream driven and could fit in with the sound of the songs on Disney Music, etc. So that's about half of the album. The other half has great lyrics, and doesn't sound like that, it's more mature sounding. NCSM, SFN, Halfway Right, OML, Sharp Edges, that stuff is great, I love those tracks. I don't even hate the other tracks that much, I just think they're very mainstream driven and something that I thought the band was purposely trying to avoid making, since Mike talked about it in every single interview for the album before this one. If I've learned one thing from this thread, it's that nobody likes THP. I admit, I wasn't HUGE on the album, but I've come to love it over this last year and I think it's fucking amazing. The lyrics are actually very mature. You have to decipher what some of them are saying, sure. It's not something obvious as fuck like ''Why's everything soooooo heavyyyy''. THP has super intricate and awesome guitar and drum sound, something the band had never done up until THP and obviously hasn't done since. Maybe it's just that newer fans of the band don't really like that heavy rock and metal sound of the band. Although, it was different than the nu-metal sound of the first few records. Maybe it's because I listen to tons of metalcore, rock, metal, alternative rock, etc. I don't really ever listen to hip-hop, R&B, pop, electronic shit, etc. Maybe I just think it's awesome because I like that style of music more. But THP is actually quite good. A song like ALITS completely and utterly rips OML apart, in every way possible. Rebellion? That does too. GATS, KTTK, War, so much good songs there. War is so good, one of my top songs of all time. If the album had a mature pop sound, like I hear with songs like Nobody Can Save Me and One More Light, I would have appreciated it much more. I just think about half of the album is fucking trash. Heavy is horrible, it's probably one of the worst songs that I've ever heard, and I think Kiiara is shitty. My opinion, though, so don't get your panties in a bunch over it. Good Goodbye is just corny as all hell. The concept behind the song is even corny as hell, and when you get to the sound of the song, just no for me. Invisible, it has a good message, I think Mike had a good idea with the lyrics, I just don't care much for the song. It's the least offending out of the ones I'm talking about. Battle Symphony, it sounds like a song that would be used in a G rated Disney movie. That's my issue. Not every fan has to like OML. Fans were douchey as fuck about it before Chester died but now that Chester has died, people act like you're the worst person in the entire world for not liking the album. It's no disrespect to Chester at all. Everyone can like whatever they like. No one person is more right. Do I think THP is a better album overall? Yes I do. Sorry. And like I've said, there are a few tracks that I do love on OML. Just overall it doesn't do it for me.

You are forgetting Jon Green singing Given Up. Oh yeah, I forgot, he can't, and neither can Mike, nobody will ever replace Chester Bennington.
-
As far as I know it was fake and fan-made, it's not out there.
-
Who is ''S''? Both of their names start with the letter S. LOL.
-
Sick. I love the live version of the song. I love the song in general.
-
Apparently Lorenzo has nothing to do with picking the tracks. Ive asked him before. He said the band chooses the tracks each year. No clue why the band hasnt asked fans what they would like to hear. They should do that at least for one year. Would anyone want to hear this demo? Sounds better than what we got. We need that thoughts that take away my pride demo and the 17th MTM track.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLRyN2rflzY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr5Kk_XL3S4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk5eHdVZfiE I think he mentions the Benson stuff in the second part but it's definitely in one of the 3 videos, all from the same interview. As for Chester wanting it to be a ten song album, I'll have to look, as he posted it on his Twitter in July of 2009. I found the quote from Mike about the T-Rex sounding song, but the link no longer exists since his blog was shut down. "I was just hanging out with Chester, and got a chance to hear some of his new solo material! In case you haven't heard, he's doing a solo record (he's doing double-duty, working on his album and the LP album simultaneously). The project is called Dead By Sunrise, and the album is being produced by Howard Benson. He played me 9 songs, two of which had amazing vocals. I thought I could hear influences from T-Rex, overall it's a pretty punch-you-in-the-gut rock record. Very cool...look for it later this year, probably September-ish. It's going to be incredible!" Honestly, though, I'm beginning to think ''Fuck DBS''. MTM completely blows it apart and even Death To Analog by Julien-K blows it apart. OOA was a mediocre rock album, nothing that special, I don't know why I was so obsessed with it, probably largely because of how long it took to come out, it was over hyped. It's nothing that special.

I'm praying for at least 1 or 2 Minutes to Midnight demos..... Please God

Let's not forget - we have the original DBS song list that leaked onto Julien-K's site in late 2006/very early 2007. Chester said in an interview with KROQ in 2009 that he wrote Condemned and Inside Of Me after Howard Benson asked him for some harder rock songs for the album, so we know those two weren't part of the DBS music originally. Chester also said in July 2009 that he might release Out Of Ashes as a 10 song album. I think 2012 might be the demo title for End Of The World, as everyone used to say that 2012 was the end of the world back then in 2005, etc. We also knew the song existed in 2005 because Mike said Chester showed him a song that sounded like T-Rex, which would no doubt be End Of The World. That means Too Late was probably one of those demo titled, probably Wall Of Sound if I had to guess. And we have both of those Morning After's. Hold Life or Hard Life, whichever it was, could possibly be CBI.

Awesome. I knew it would. Dont see why it would have stopped. The only reason would be if the band broke up, which they didnt.
-
Yeah, I was hoping it had some of the South American shows as well. I even thought maybe a song or two from the Las Vegas show, that was a badass show, I watched a lot of it on YouTube. Europe isn't the only place, in recent years, that's like all the band cared about was touring in Europe. But I won't get negative here. At least we are getting an official release of the OML songs live.

New Song 'Meadow' w/ New Lead Singer Jeff Gutt
Geki replied to RogueSoul's topic in Stone Temple Pilots
I probably wouldn't listen to the band anymore, but that's fine. The main reason that I ever even got into Linkin Park in general was because of Chester and his voice and persona, so I don't really care that much about the future of the band now that he's gone. I'll still check out stuff here and there - whether they continue as a 5 piece or with a new singer, but I definitely won't consider myself a ''fan'' anymore. Maybe that is what they'll do, who knows. But Chester was much more unique than Scott Weiland was, IMO. Scott Weiland had a 90's grunge rock voice, something that many bands have been able to achieve with their singer. Chester was much different in the sense that he could do that but also do a bunch of other vocal styles as well. I'm sure they could find someone who sounds like Chester out there. Who knows at this point, the band says they don't even know what the future is yet. -
Songs don't sound that great... Weird. Crawling does.

New Song 'Meadow' w/ New Lead Singer Jeff Gutt

He sounds JUST like Scott, so I think they picked someone good. They will attract the attention of the older fans and maybe even get some newer fans. The track is decent, it's good, it's better than High Rise. -
I realize it. I obviously paid my fair share for it. I talked to Julien-K in Boston a few weeks after Chester's death and they said it was pretty much ready to go and just needed to add a few finishing touches. They've been talking about it since 2016. I understand Chester's death was a big deal to Ryan and Amir but the entire release is all songs that were all already recorded and what not. Linkin Park has played a huge show at the Hollywood Bowl and is releasing a live album and possibly even LPU 17 and Julien-K still hasn't released it. Lol. Forgive me for sounding like a prick but I just really want to hear this release, it has a lot of stuff that interests me a lot.

What the fuck’s taking so long with the release?
-
I wish I could have seen the band on this album cycle... As I mentioned before, I was going to 3 shows on the upcoming U.S. tour. Now I wish that I went to Las Vegas for that show at The Chelsea.
-
I know, I couldn't agree with you more. Seriously, go look at the band's social media stuff, people are saying it. There was one person who had this entire paragraph on it and I can't seem to find it now, but at least people are defending the band against those comments.
-
A lot of people on social media think that the band keeps milking Chester’s death.
-
Same here... had pit tickets to Mansfield and Uncasville and was also going to Blinkin Park in NYC. So it will make up for it for me as well. That's a good point.
-
I disagree with this 100%. I think it would be disrespectful to NOT release stuff with Chester, no matter when it is. He was a legend, he was my favorite musician of all time. I want to hear everything he’s ever done - realistically speaking or not. I want to hear live performances of him singing, demos, you name it. I want him to be honored forever. And I’ll fork over money to whatever is is. I would hate for him to be forgotten or to have stuff not come out that he was a part of. And the band has done live albums before, it’s nothing new. What a good way to honor Chester, IMO. A properly mixed and mastered live release with him singing songs that meant a lot to him.
