  1. Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington credits thick skins, open minds and a strong friendship for breathing life into the band and keeping the creative juices flowing. Almost 13 years after the release of their debut album, Hybrid Theory, the 36-year-old says being open to scrutiny from fellow band members has been the key to their creative success. “We’re open to ideas, we want the sound to be successful and we want people to feel it,” Bennington says. “All of us having that open mind pushes the songs forward in a productive way that gives them the chance to be good. If you’re so locked into your own idea that you can’t be open to the notion that it’s not very good or that we can maybe change these few lines you’re only doing yourself a disservice.” He says the quality of songwriting, rather than egos, has always been the focus. “The most important thing is always making sure that you’re staying open to criticism and open to the idea of making a track the best it can be or letting the track go because it’s not going to be up to par,” he says. But Bennington says the similar work ethics are just icing on the cake of the solid friendships they’ve maintained by respecting each other’s individuality. 2. LINKIN PARK’S MIKE SHINODA BECOMES A MENTOR FOR THE GRAMMYS Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda is teaming with the Grammys to become a mentor for up-and-coming artists. The emcee recently attended a press conference at the Conga Room in L.A. to announce his role in the new Centerstage project. As part of his duties, Shinoda will also serve as curator for the Centerstage Powered By Grammy Amplifier program, where he will be heavily involved in selecting the three winning artists who will eventually have a recording session with a Grammy-winning producer. Artists can submit their tracks via SoundCloud and have them heard by a panel that includes Shinoda. The three winners will then get the recording session and hands-on experience with Grammy winners. Shinoda told Rolling Stone that he is excited to be exposed to different styles of music. “If you follow me on Twitter or on Spotify, I’m always posting new things,” he said. “If you go on there right now, you’ll see the variety of music that I’m into. But when it comes to this program, I don’t think it’ll be in any way limited to even that. It’s gonna be bigger than that. I’m looking forward to seeing artists whose style I might not be expected to like catch my ear.” Could an opening act for Linkin Park emerge from this type of process? “Sure,” he said, sharing the story of the Polish DJ Czeslaw Sakowski, who won the right to be on album A Thousand Suns by winning the remix contest for “The Catalyst.” “We put him on our record,” Shinoda said. “That’s the kind of thing that could’ve turned out very badly. All the submissions could’ve sucked, the person could’ve been a nightmare, whatever. A lot of things can go wrong and you have to say in the name of experimenting and the name of innovation you’re gonna put your money where your mouth is and risk it.” Right now, after a heavy cycle of making music that saw three albums in five years and major tours for every album, Linkin Park are exploring other areas of innovation. “We’ve kind of added some areas of focus rather than just thinking about things like touring and records,” he said. “We’ve kind of carved out some space for other projects because our interests have always been very broad, and by devoting some time to those things it stops any and all of us from feeling like we have this pent up desire to dive into other things. We got a handful of other things in the pipeline as well.” This is all from Rolling Stone. Last part is kinda scary, makes it seem like they're not so interested in just making albums and touring anymore. Thoughts?
  3. Yeah, it's the intro to the Remix version, aka the version they played live. I have no idea where it's from though.
  4. Nirvana is an extreme example of how our culture glorifies things....the other bands listed didn't become legends off of suicides or anything like that. I truly believe that LP will have a place in music history, and an important place at that.
  5. I think LP definitely has their place in the history of not just rock, but music in general. Shit, weren't they like the best selling rock band of the decade? And there are dozens of new bands out there now that cite LP as inspirations. They'll be recognized eventually.
  6. We've been wondering what song that could be for years. Good find.
  7. Yeah, there's gonna be a sequel. Interesting info: The band's work on the Mall soundtrack counts as an album under Warner, thus it should end their contract.
  8. That is a very very nice choice of headliners.
  9. Any clue as to why he doesn't play it live?
  10. They're always moderated, there's just always hundreds of people spamming the living shit out of it every chat that there's only so much the mods can do.
  11. Damn, that's a lot more stuff on pads than I thought. Do you know who triggers that fast (I guess it's a triangle) clinging sound on parts of Victimized?
  12. Exactly what samples does Rob trigger?
  13. Alrighty, I'm all done adding everything from that thread.
  14. APFMH should never be rotated. Should be a fucking staple.
  15. I'm pretty sure Mike is talking about Halo 4, lol. He's definitely played all the other Halo games.
  16. Yeah, that's crazy. I got those Club Tattoo Etnies too, much better deal lol.
  17. I'll go through everything sometime this weekend; I'm going out of town tomorrow.
  18. From Mike Shinoda Clan http://mikeshinodaclan.com/2013/01/scan-mi...mpaign=wordtwit Some pretty cool and interesting stories in this, thought I would share. Also, for those interested, Chester took the same test last year. http://mikeshinodaclan.com/gallery/albums/...ngJul142012.jpg
  19. Chester is actually the godfather of Chris Cornell's son, and baptized him.
  20. Thanks! And yeah, we do definitely need to archive all proshot footage.
  21. Can't find anything for Orange and Hove Festival. Could you show me them and I'll go ahead and put them on?
  22. So there's a lot of promotional stuff going around for the Grammy's, and there are posters stating "The World is Listening" that have LP on them. Here's a pic of one: That's from Chicago, and there's been a couple more in NYC. Anybody know what it's for? Is LP performing or are they nominated?
  23. I found this, and am adding it to the list. The show page needs to be updated now.
  24. Has anybody ever seen this? I never did until now. Nothing too serious, just interesting about Mike's home life, lol.
