  1. I'm sorry, but you're fucking crazy if you think an entire album is going to sound like one song, and you're even crazier if you think Linkin Park would attempt to sum up the sound of their entire album based on the sound of one fan remix.
  2. ...Which was clearly in reference to the album version of The Catalyst, not the album as a whole.
  3. Mine should be on Youtube within the next few days, I'm just putting together a photo slideshow to go with it so there's something to look at.
  4. Not my favorite remix, but still a good one, and one that I definitely would have missed, considering where it was in the voting. Kind of a stroke of genius that he thought to use text-to-speech, since you weren't allowed to add your own vocals. Pretty cool story behind the guy who won too. Congrats to Keaton and Alex for making the top 20 as well!
  5. I had always assumed that beat came from another song, just had never been able to track it down. Thanks!

  7. Those still exist as well.
  8. The Down Syndrome is by Grey Daze... By the way, a lot of people would probably be surprised at the kind of stuff LP works on during rehearsals that never makes it on stage. My December was being soundchecked routinely as early as September of 2001 but wasn't added to the set full-time (with the exception of one oddball performance in the UK) until December. Carousel was also rehearsed at soundchecks around that period. We all know No Roads Left has been tried out during rehearsals for tours over the past couple years, and I've heard from a pretty reliable source that By Myself was dusted off during rehearsals for the '09 tour. The band's always brushing up on stuff they've never played or haven't played in a long time, there's just no guarantee of it making it to the stage.
  9. Trust me, you're not gonna be able to find it on Youtube for more than a few seconds. Warner will be all over it.
  10. There's also always the possibility that the French article with the review of the 6-track sampler didn't have the track times exactly right...just something to keep in mind.
  11. Does nobody remember the fact that What I've Done didn't leak until about a day before it was released to radio, and even that was a really low-quality version from a streaming radio station? Warner has these single releases under lock and key, they deliver new singles to radio digitally now, so every radio station that is going to put the song in rotation recieves it at exactly the same time, which is probably no more than a couple hours before the song is released. There are plenty of people in the media that have HEARD the song via listening parties or the 6-track sampler that's being flown around the world, but I wouldn't be surprised if the only people that actually have the song in their possession right now are Warner and ESPN. Album leaks are inevitable, but it's entirely possible with today's technology to prevent a single from leaking.
  12. I love how you even thought to use a Flying V. As for where the multitracks would be located in the game, I have no idea, they tend to change the way everything's coded with every new release just to make things harder on the people who crack the game for stuff like this.
  13. Because they can. Plenty of fans like the new material. It's not their fault that you don't. I wouldn't be surprised if 80% of current Linkin Park fans got into them after Hybrid Theory came out. That album came out 10 years ago, the average age of LP's fanbase is about 16-18. I highly doubt there were thousands upon thousands of 6-8 year old kids were running around jamming to One Step Closer 10 years ago. Better question: Why do the same thing over and over again? If Minutes to Midnight had sounded like Hybrid Theory and Meteora, I would no longer be a fan of this band. I know of numerous other people who feel the same way. People like me sure don't feel bad about the change. Save for Chester's vocal issues, the band performs better now than they ever have. Take current-day Chester and super-impose his vocals over any show from 2003-2004, and I guarantee 95% of people listening to it would agree that the current shows sound better. Because the band is TOTALLY in control of how their fans behave at concerts. I saw LP in 2007 and 2008, and there were tons of people jumping and moshing. Have you been to a show lately? I highly doubt it. Gee, maybe because they're getting older? When has Rob fallen on stage, and why would that be a good thing? Go watch any show from 2000-2001 when Brad still jumped around like crazy, then close your eyes and listen to his guitar parts - he was making mistakes left and right because he was jumping around too much, and even when he DID hit the right notes, they were often out of tune because he couldn't hold his hand steady while jumping. If Minutes to Midnight had sounded like Hybrid Theory and Meteora, I would go so far as to say that there wouldn't even BE a fourth Linkin Park album, because it would've been lucky to go Gold, and Chester and Mike would've probably decided they'd be better off pursuing their various solo projects full-time. Nobody cares about nu metal these days except for a few die-hards/delusional people who live in the past. Heard anything good from Adema lately? Did you know both Godsmack and Korn released new albums in the last few months? Crazy Town got back together a couple years ago, did you hear about that? No? Didn't think so. 95% of casual music listeners would also answer "no" to all of the above questions, because nobody pays attention to those kind of bands anymore.
  14. Nope. There are probably more tracks from Resada Beach that Mike produced too (the 3 we know of are Dumb it Down, Howdy Doodie, and Second to None - he also produced You Cannot Fuck With This and the remix of Hard on Razor Tag), those 2 are just ones that have been mentioned in the various chats that Ryu/GBC have done over the past year or so.
  15. They already proved with New Divide that a song doesn't have to be heavily guitar-based to rock.
  16. I really doubt a DTD2 compilation would steal The Catalyst/ATS's thunder. I know the contest rules specify that the winning remix of The Catalyst will be a bonus track on the Best Buy edition of the album, but I'd honestly rather have it be released on something like this. It's a far better cause, and I think with the sequencing of the album, having a bonus remix of The Catalyst as track 16 will be silly when the regular version of the song is track 14.
  17. Styles of Beyond - Howdy Doodie (Produced by Mike Shinoda) Styles of Beyond - Dumb it Down (Co-produced by Mike Shinoda and Apathy) Both are tracks from the unreleased Resada Beach album.
  18. You're a fucking idiot. Goodbye.
  19. I normally don't really mind the posting of Julien-K news on here, but I'm pretty sure with everything going on with LP right now, this is going to go mostly unnoticed. I'm curious to see how Julien-K fares in the future though, both with how the new album sounds and how the band's live dynamic changes with Fu replacing Brandon.
  20. I'm sure the CD/DVD set will be available in stores, several retailers' websites already list it. It *MIGHT* not have the holographic cover thingy, but otherwise, you should be able to find it just about anywhere that sells the regular CD version. I bet the deluxe edition will show up at some retail chain several months down the road at a discounted price, too.
  21. Because you totally have the authority to classify Linkin Park as a "rock band," and what you think has more bearing than what they want to be. I can't wait until this album leaks, I hope to god a bunch of people like you slip up and ask for download links. This place could really use some weeding out.
  22. Enjoy your warning. Please, by all means, keep making statements like this!
  23. There's bass at the beginning of the clip.
  24. It's actually verse-half chorus-verse-full chorus-bridge-full chorus. The bridge is the "it's your time" section.
  25. False. The CD single comes out on August 27th.
