  1. This is really cool! So many gems uploaded just today!
  2. Definitely a few typos and mistakes in his post lol, but they come directly from him so I guess they are official regardless. Really cool that he directly shouted out LPL to provide the lyrics.
  3. I love the demo verse on SFN, but I also recognize how cool it is for Mike to show some love for Dan Mayo on the drums and give him a moment in the spotlight. Maybe he could just do both. Extend it twice. Make SFN the BIO of Mike's shows. Also: " I LOVE those guys... I'm grateful that I've got friends that will support me in that way. That's one of the reasons I wrote certain songs on the record in certain ways: because I wanted them to know I care about them." Mike didn't play CAL for whatever reason that the song had to be dropped, but I like how he referenced it. I'm sure he could be referring to multiple songs, but Mike is on record as saying that CAL was written specifically about his fear that the members of LP would feel left behind when he released his solo album and went out on tour without them. So the song was dropped, but he still made sure to get the message of the song across anyway.
  4. Have you guys considered creating a drop down for Mike Shinoda's live show pages? Splitting Mike from the "Related Acts" section was awesome, but now that Mike is seemingly poised to tour possibly into 2019, what if you guys had a drop down under his name, where the "guest appearances" were their own page (similar to the "Guesting" page for LP), 2018 was its own page. 2019 would be its own page, etc.? Just a suggestion that could help with organization as the MS tour dates start adding up.
  5. Part of me thinks that Over Again wasn't chosen as a radio single because Mike/the label may not have thought it would be successful as one. That song is so very personal and specific to the situation that Mike/LP were forced to deal with in the immediate aftermath of 7/20. Obviously Mike knew that song would resonate with us (hardcore fans), and that we would connect to it, but that song is so powerful and emotionally raw that it actually reached way further than just hardcore LP/MS fans. I think if Over Again was the first single it may have found more success that CAL did. I actually didn't like that choice as a lead single. It's a good song, but there were others on the album that probably would have been a better choice.
  6. Its pretty disheartening how many people in the comments on Facebook for the show in my city didnt even know that Mike had an album at all. A lot of comments asking if this is Fort Minor. A lot of people seemingly surprised at the news that a Mike Shinoda album even exists, let alone a tour. Not to mention the comments suggesting that this tour is confirmation that LP is done forever. Its amazing how many people comment these absurd things before doing even 5 minutes of Googling this stuff.
  7. NEW ORLEANS
  8. Did Geki forget that on 7/20 he was still banned? He was brought back because the LP community was concerned about how he would be handling the news. Mark literally said “we need to get Geki back in here”. So I don’t understand why he seems to be convinced that the LP community has always hated him.
  9. Covering a song does not mean its a competition with the original. Covers are a way to pay homage to Chester, they are not a way to try and sound as good as or better than him. His music is being kept alive by the artists who pay tribute by singing them. They are paying their respects to one of the best voices of our lifetime.
  10. A lot of rappers do do that, especially for choruses.
  11. Hopefully Mike will have more time to consider this as a way to keep PT hype going now that he has a break before he goes back out on tour. Its been about a month since the album was released, which I think was about the time it took for LT and THP instrumentals/acapellas to be announced.
  12. I do think Mike went through a period of anger at Chester. He literally said it in an interview. I truly don't think he was mad in the sense of "You ruined LP! I wanted to make more money! I needed you to sing on some more albums!" I think it was more thoughts of "How could you do this? How could you leave everyone behind? Why didn't you reach out to someone?" He saw how destroyed Chester's wife and kids were. Those are normal thoughts to have in the immediate aftermath of a suicide, I would think. There are waves of emotions associated with grief. One of them is anger. That doesn't mean he's angry at Chester now, or that he resents him forever. They were best friends, which is why he also initially questioned whether he did enough or whether he had done/said something that made Chester's state of mind even worse. As you said, mental illness by definition causes someone who is suicidal to not think logically or rationally. I believe that Mike knows that, especially now as he (along with Talinda and the rest of LP) have become so much more educated on the issue.
  13. If that's about Chester, that's heartbreaking. I'm sure Mike felt some semblance of guilt/regret, whether it was rational or not, after what happened. That's what I take from that line. Looking For An Answer explores that as well "Was there something I could say, or something I should not have done?" However, the next few lines of the bridge of CHYN seem to be almost him snapping out of it. "I'm drawing a line, enough is enough". The rawness of Mike's emotions and his willingness to be open about them is really powerful...
  14. "This is the best show in an Apple store we've ever played......Really, I'm serious." - Chester Bennington
  15. I used the word "break" because Mike used it in the iHeartRadio podcast. he said those songs serve as little breaks from everything that was happening in his life over the past year. That being said I definitely agree that it matches the overall flow and vibe of the album. I think the first verse of Can't Hear You Now is a deliberate callback to some of the lyrics and feelings expressed on Place to Start (and the original EP in general). It rounds out the album in a really cool full circle sort of way. Also I definitely feel the same way as you when you say that any sort of FM or DBD activity would have had no impact on LP. All of that would have happened in the midst of everything LP had going. Also I'm willing to bet that whoever said Mike did an interview and said he was thinking of "going solo" probably misinterpreted what he meant. He may have said he was going to release some solo stuff, but he wasn't going to leave LP.
  16. While I agree that Lift Off and I.O.U. may well have been written and completed before Chester passed away, I don't think it takes away from PT to include them on the album. I say that for a couple reasons. One reason is that Mike has explicitly said more than once that Post Traumatic is not a tribute album and that not every song is related to Chester. If your opinion is that the album SHOULD have been that way, then that's different. He didn't mislead anyone with the intent of the album, though. Also, I've listened to the album a few times all the way through beginning to end. Those 2 songs in there definitely serve as kind of a break for the listener. A little levity on an album that takes on very complex and heavy emotions. I don't think that's a bad thing, and again I don't feel that it took away from the impact of the album overall.
  17. I had a feeling that whoever equated Can't Hear You Now to UIB was going to be way off base.
  18. If there is even any trace of a song like Right Now on the show.. it'll probably be like Mike and Black Thought rapping what they remember of their verses while Questlove plays a drum beat... probably like messing around during a commercial break or something. He's not going to use airtime to play a song from 13 years ago when, at the time of this show, he'll have had an album debut 4 days prior.
  19. That's what I've been waiting for. The "It Leaked" thread lol
  20. Yeah I think it was a Kerrang interview. I remember reading it online when it was released.
  21. The iHeartRadio release party for THP was a pretty cool show. I liked the format of that one, and the interviewer was a good one.
  22. Kanye is sampled in the intro for We Major. The part of the intro that says "Come on homie, we major" is Kanye.
  23. The lyrics of Ghost are definitely interesting. The sock puppet thing is just Mike having fun with the video and concept, but the song itself is not a comedy or joke song.
  24. For the record, I made my statement based on a post in the shout box from a few days ago where someone asked why there were no track-by-track reviews out yet since the listening parties had started, and Dylan stated that reviews were not allowed yet. That made me remember that when Mike made the video for CAL, he asked everyone who heard the song to please not say too much about it until it was released. So yeah, I just kind of assumed it was probably a similar situation. Anyway I also hope the album comes a little early. I ordered the Art Book Edition, so I'm definitely excited about it.
  25. Apparently no reviews are "allowed" yet. Which I guess means that the attendees were asked as a favor to not post reviews, and they all listened. Lol
