Imagine being criticized for not grieving publicly enough. Isn't this literally what Watching As I Fall is about?
-
Nobody is going to attack you for not being a fan of the songs, that's what my point was. There's this misconception that the LP community accepts nothing less than glowing reviews for anything LP related, or Mike related since 2017. That's not true. All opinions are welcome here so long as they aren't intentionally disrespectful on a personal level. I also know you didn't say that about Mike being business only about Chester. GarretLP said that. Honestly, and this is me speaking my own opinion: Mike is, and has always been, intensely private. For him, sharing a song like Over Again was huge. I don't think he will share any more raw emotions than that. He put out PT, and he talks about Chester at every show, but I think that's about as far as he's going to go. At least with the public.

Thats what I meant. If you say things that are way over the line then of course people will step in and defend the band members, because that is not just having a negative opinion of the music. There are LP songs that I dont like that much. Thats normal. I would never insult the band as people or get unnecessarily mean with my opinion though. And yes, the label makes decisions based on money of course. I just mean that I dont think Mike or the label execs were, in the aftermath of July 20th, mad at Chester because they felt there was still money to be made. The label is a business, but I still believe they looked at Chester as a human being and felt that loss on a human level first. I do resent anyone saying that Mike was more worried about his career than anything else

As a whole, is the impression really that if you have a negative opinion of LP/LP related music that you will get slaughtered by the LP fan base? I never see that happening unless the negative opinion is full of personal insults, a la Gekis reviews of anything after MTM. I also dont know where multiple people are getting the imprsssion that Mike is more upset about his career than losing Chester. Do you think every time he talks about Chester, its just a business thing for his own career? I mean, Jesus, yall act like LP and WB looked at Chester as a dollar sign that could sing.

I recently listened to Easier to Run for the first time in a while, and that song just hit me really hard. I know Chester wrote that one on his own. Even if he and the band claimed to not like that song later, it definitely is a very personal song for Chester. I definitely agree that Mike is referring to the songs Chester wrote as a whole. He realizes they werent just cool lyrics and melodies, but that Chester had been through those things in a way that Mike could not even imagine. What do you think he is saying, that you cant support?

Nobody hates, or almost hates, Germany as a country for getting a lot of shows or having a large fan base. That's a silly thing to say. People feel left out and wish Mike had spread out more for this tour and are voicing their opinion. That doesn't mean they "hate" Germany.
-
That's kind of like saying Good Goodbye isn't Good Goodbye without Pusha T. It'll never have MGK or Chino on it live unless they tour with Mike or make a special appearance.

Those tracks will certainly be ripped immediately upon release. As far as making them digital singles, I would guess that will probably happen after a few weeks or so.

I don't have the video, but I also know that there's no way that LPL made up Matt saying that Mike had him booked up in 2019 for touring. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that he maybe wasn't supposed to say that yet and didn't realize it at the time.

I remembered after I asked that question that I saw an interview, or an LPTV or something, with Mike saying that when the band wrote HT they felt that there was always a better way to express themselves then with profanity. Like he basically implied that cursing was the easy way out of writing a good lyric, but then by the time MTM rolled around they obviously had changed their outlook on that. Lol .....and now I can't find the clip of him saying that. I SWEAR it exists somewhere though. Someone probably remembers.
-
Was the “mother fucker!” that Chester would scream at the end of APFMH love ever intended to be in the album version? If so, then who made the decision to consciously shy away from profanity? That’s such an epic way to end that song.

Definitely. He seems really modest and down to Earth as well!

This is great news!

Road to Revolution too.

Oh ok. See I was thinking he might have just went into what sounds like probably demo lyrics. He's done that a couple of times, I thought maybe the person who heard it mistook it for a completely different song. If he didn't want it filmed though, then maybe it IS a new song that he wants to stay a surprise. Similar to how he requested fans to not record CAL when he played it at the video shoot for that song.

Is there a video of the sound check of Lift Off?
-
Because they are not Linkin Park. Now if Brad, Joe, and Rob were to say to Mike that they never want to play music again, then that would be different. That hasnt happened, though, and LP is still a band. Currently an inactive band, but a band nonetheless.

A box set for each album would be amazing. The Beatles did that for the anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's and are about to release one for The White Album and they're both awesome in both concept and execution.
-
I don't know about that. THP's touring cycle for example was pretty heavy.

This show was so amazing. I'm obviously biased since this was my first time seeing Mike live, and it's pretty surreal that 17 years of being a hardcore LP fan just culminated in my first live show last night, but still.... The amount of energy, love, and support that I felt between Mike, Dan, Matt, and the crowd was palpable. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Don Broco were a great opening act, and overall seemed extremely excited to be on tour with Mike. Their singer is awesome, their bassist, and DEFINITELY their guitarist, were both going insane, and their drummer just so happens to also be a great singer. Dan Mayo is an amazing...AMAZING drummer. He looked like he was having the time of his life behind that drum kit. Matt Harris was doing his thing behind the keyboard, playing guitar, singing harmonies. He's a jack of all trades and he nailed it the entire show. Finally...Mike himself. He was SO full of energy and showed love for the crowd and the city of New Orleans. Mike is officially one of the few people who can say N'awlins without making me cringe. LOL. This show was one of the best experiences of my life. Literally. Emotions were high for the entire show. The most somber moment of the night, for me, was definitely WFTE on piano. That being said, however, when the focus turned to Chester, it was definitely a celebration of his life rather than a sadness over his loss. Mike doesn't seem like he has any intentions of slowing down, and I definitely am making it my mission to see Mike/LP live many more times in the future. Here's a playlist of some videos I recorded from the show: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuPCBKdCL9107-4FWnKY2xQpUtkz-GSGX These videos are filmed vertically. There are no complete songs. These are just moments in time that I captured for myself. I didn't want to spend so much time filming that I would miss out on just experiencing the show in real time.

It didnt happen, but holy SHIT that was AMAZING.

I think that the subject matter and the story behind the song would overwhelmingly negate any sense of boredom that anybody in a New Orleans crowd would have ever felt. If anyone did feel bored during the song when it was in the setlists, I can only assume that it is because TLTGYA is one of the slower songs in the LP catalogue.
-
I'll be there and, as a lifelong LP fan that was born and raised here in NOLA, I've been hoping to hear TLTGYA in New Orleans since 2007. With this being the first chance for it to happen, I really hope it does! Although even if Mike doesn't play the song, I would love for him to tell the story of Chester feeling the need to write the song after coming here. Maybe he could even shed more light on it than he has in the past.
-
Definitely Chester's voice. My question, which I know nobody here can answer, is why Garrix decided to scratch Chester's vocals and not include them in the official release. Mike sings really well on this song, and I'm taking nothing from his performance, but this is Chester Bennington. Why take his voice off the song? If he was going to do that, then what was with him saying "because of Chester's passing it's little bit hard to release the song. I don't know if we're ever gonna release it."? Did he scratch Chester's vocals BECAUSE he passed? If so, that makes no sense unless Chester personally didn't like his vocals on the song or something.

I wonder if Mike had a say on which version of the lyrics was ultimately released.
