A Thousand Suns - My Opinion 1 - The Requiem (5/10) Solid start but would have been better if Mike just used his normal voice without messing with it. Get the impression its meant to come off as a child singing 2 – The Radiance (3/10) Weird and poor. Should have just been made as one track with The Requiem 3 – Burning in the Skies (8/10) Single Alert!!! Solid enough song. Singalongable! Lyrically, very simplistic, like The Catalyst 4 – Empty Spaces (1/10) This is pointless to me 5 – When They Come for me (7/10) Beginning is just weird. Mike is really solid here though. Not sure about the group singing parts i.e. the ahhhhhss. Sort of turns it into a Bollywood tune! Wish Chester was more present on this one 6 – Robot Boy (5/10) Sounds like boyband stuff or something Enya could release. Really disappointed by this one. Whole song sounds like it could have been used as backing vocals to another song 7 – Jornada Del Muerto (5/10) Just don’t really like it and not sure why it supposed to mesh with the rest of the album 8 – Waiting for the End (9/10) One of my favourites and clear to see why its been flagged as a single release. Chester is amazing in this and Mike’s rap adds, rather than takes away from the feel of the song 9 – Blackout (8/10) Had high hopes for this one based on the LPTV episode. I’m a little bit let down but only a little. Love the start and Chester is amazing but don’t like the remix part in the middle of the song but I get how its meant to transition the song to the latter part. 10 – Wretches and Kings (9/10) Really love this one and the speech really flows with the overall song. Love the heavy beat. Could be a single 11 – Wisdom, Justice and Love (6/10) Good but distortion ruins it for me 12 – Iridescent (8/10) Single Alert!!! Really nice and relaxing song. SOTD/LOATR for ATS 13 – Fallout (3/10) Another pointless interlude. Really hate this 14 – The Catalyst (9/10) Loved this since I first heard it. Its lyrically simple but it works 15 – The Messenger (8/10) Beautiful but doesn’t sound like it goes with the rest of the album Overall, I give ATS 7/10. I had really high hopes for this album but I feel let down. I’m by no means a bring back HT/Meteora fanatic but I do love those albums. MTM had more variety IMO than ATS. The interludes are pointless and terrible to me. Wake and Session look down on these interludes and laugh! I love both soft and heavy LP but the latter is very much absent on ATS. I hope that heavy LP songs don’t make way too much for the softer stuff in the live show. I understand LP’s need & want to branch out from their previous sound but ATS has been a big disappointment for me. There is hope that some of these songs will sound better live which I am really intrigued to see. I applaud and encourage LP for branching out into new territory but I hope the next album (if there is one), will be much better than this. THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY AND I AM ENTITLED TO IT. I have also pre-ordered the deluxe version of ATS too which I will not be cancelling regardless of my feelings on ATS

Its hard to tell how I really feel. I love both heavy and soft LP but I'm not really digging the interludes. Might change my mind when I listen to the whole thing....I hope!

Totally but those folks will have aged a year more than those of us who have listened to it P.S. - Wretches & Kings is completely different musically to The Catalyst but still equally as awesome!

Sweeeeeeeetttt tune! Pleasantly surprised I gotta say. At first I was like WTF is this! But after a few listens it kinda gets under your skin but in the best way possible! The speech does fit perfectly in with the song and doesn't take away from the quality of the song at all. Can't wait to hear the whole album!!!!

Oh yeah, Friday the 10th baby! I've pre-ordered from LP.com but now way in hell I'm waiting until Tuesday to hear the album. Silly Americans and their stupid Tuesday release day! Seriously, who's idea was it to release an album on a Tuesday???? EDIT: Thanks for the reviews but anyone who has heard it said its hard to judge on one listen. Agreed, as pretty much every song/album needs to be heard multiple times before a decent judgement can be made. Also, if you're writing down notes while listening to a track then you're not really giving all your attention to the actual music!

I'm confused! I see people saying they will just pay for the $10 monthly option so they can buy the merch...thats fine. Buy if I'm reading Hahninator's comments correctly, he is saying $10 option is online only with the only perk being pre-sale opportunities. All the 'good stuff' including LPU merch comes with the $60 package...correct...yes/no??? Like some other international fans have said, its kinda crazy paying the $60 when there is no guarantee of M & G and no guarantee LP will even come to my country. In saying that, I went to the RDS show in Dublin and got a M & G pass. It was the most exciting 12 seconds of my life when I got to see LP in the flesh!!! Another thing, its saying that current memberships will carry over to LPUX. I bought the most expensive LPU 9 package and my membership expires in April 2011. So as my membership is being honoured and carried over to LPUX, will I be allowed buy the LPUX merch without having to actually buy the LPUX membership? (Hope that question is clear enough!)

Wow...if this is correct then only 9 out of 15 "songs" are over 3 minutes! So basically that's 6 interludes/speeches. Not good!

Thanks for posting your review Ana. Have to say, I'm all for change but am kinda worried by Ana's description of the songs. Not loving the idea of speeches and surprised that Chester has moved into the background a bit. Really need to hear it for myself before I can judge (obviously!)

Its clever from LP to release video at end of August. It kind breaks up the time between the release of The Catalyst and ATS. Gives fans something else to look forward to before ATS takes over the world!

Pretty much all the snippets we've heard just put together but in better quality. Its a fast song and I still like it. My LP download is already on my listening device for repetative playback

I like it but the opening few seconds like almost sounds exactly like the opening of PETRIFIED!

Lenght doesn't really bother me as long as its top quality which I really think it will be. I just wish The Catalyst would hurry up and arrive already!!!

HA HA, with all these little previews we're getting, we'll be able to piece together the songs ourselves before its officially released. Guess I wasted money on that pre-order Next preview please.....

So I was in work all reading what all you folks had to say about this new clip. Some like and some don't like which is OK as everyone is of course entitled to their opinion. Finally got home and had quite a few listens of it myself. First couple of listens, I didn't really like but after a few more listens it kinda grew on me. As most as saying, we cannot make any conclusions or judgements on what the finished project will sound like based on the short previews we've heard. I am however very optimistic about this new sound from LP! Furthermore, I think its awesome that what we've heard so far adds further fuel to the fire that LP cannot and should not be pigeon-holed into one specific genre of music. Between fans, non-fans or critics calling LP's sound as being rock, pop, hip-hop, nu-metal or even worse...RAP-ROCKERS, personally I've never held them to a particular sound! We may get new genres thrown about such as dance, techno, electronic etc as a result of ATS but I will ignore them all as I've done every single time I've heard the term "nu-metal" (insert cringe here!) LP have always had there own unique sound IMO and will continue to do so with the release of ATS. Linkin Park is....Linkin Park and always will be. My two cents

15 tracks = pure awesomness If there is to be 2-3 instrumentals then I hope they're at least the same lenght as Wake. Would suck if they were Reanimation type interludes! OH yeah, I think its funny as f%#k that so many people are calling the track names "mature"! How are people judging that these track names are "mature" and previous albums song names are not mature? I know nobody has actually said previous album track names were not mature but given what they're already saying about these tracks, I came to the conclusion that previous tracks names must not have been mature! Is it because 4 tracks begin with 'THE'????

Just ordered the deluxe edition...sweeeeeet! Also, just watched the preview of dvd which has wetted the appetite even more!!! The t-shirt is just meh for me. Looks like they had Stevie Wonder come over and play 'pin the artwork on the cotton fabric' game!

Its 10 seconds worth. Not enough to form an opinion for me!

I like it! It'll certainly catch the eye sitting on the shelves of record stores!
