  1. Gonna have to prop that dude up in a back brace for the tour.
  2. Shit, it's like staring right into a time machine.
  3. Yeah, Mojave/Coming Home Soon is in the archive. I remember the song pretty well. I'll add Ben's new EP to the post as a separate link, but not to the archive for obvious reasons. Are the links not working? I can rehost them if necessary through another website. (Yes, I'm still here, sort of. Once in a while.)
  4. Why is a 36-minute album being pressed on two records? That's dumb as hell.
  5. It means they wrote a good song that's not a demo.
  6. Primo is fucking incredible. No wonder they chose it to promote LPU - it's a gorgeous (and essentially finished, thank god) alternate path for I'll Be Gone. Basiquiat and Holding Company are great instrumentals. The direction LP has gone in the past three years has really made them step up their instrumental game. Hemispheres and Cumulus are alright. Neither of them stuck in my head. Same for Universe - all these instrumentals are blending in my head. Though I understand SIB being instrumental more than the five thousand other Meteora instrumentals we've received the past few years, it still irks me that there's apparently not a single Meteora demo with vocals. The UIB demos are cool as hell to hear - especially Brad's, though his voice sounds way worse on this demo than it does on the finished product. Ryan Giles and Beta State put out good material, but I question the wisdom of having these songs on an LPU release instead of something separate. Overall, this is another great year for LPU. Looks like ten demos a year is going to be the norm.
  7. Oh, that's nice. Might do it.
  8. Holy shit. They're actually doing it. Do all five albums, you motherfuckers. And do them in Florida.
  9. I wonder what song they're gonna play... Ten bucks on Carousel.
  10. The x just looks better than a & or 'and'.
  11. I remember when he (or someone else in the band) said the album title was T and T, as in two words that start with T. 2006 was a weird year.
  12. They were probably recorded as interludes for the album, but I don't know if there's an "official" source talking about them.
  13. Finally, more acknowledgement of The Mall. 2014? I can deal with that.
  14. It's an EP, not an album. Don't expect the same experience from different things.
  15. That'd make for a cool 7''.
  16. How much traffic does the homepage get? Would it warrant that sort of categorization?
  17. I like that idea much better than banning STP from the Newswire forever. Good call. I'm reservedly excited for this EP, because I'm pretty indifferent to STP, even with Chester. Probably gonna wait for it to go up on Spotify before I decide to buy.
  18. Who said they even got good remixes at all? Have you heard the shit from the remix subscription? My point is that they probably had this planned regardless of whether or not they would get "good" remixes, because a band as big and deeply tied into remixing as LP is guaranteed to at least get some gems for a remix package. They banked on that, so they held off on putting together an LT deluxe box until this year. That or they had to wait for manufacturing purposes or something. I don't know.
  19. I don't know how I feel about STP news not being in the newswire, especially because I use the live feed all the time. Song is good, though, but Chester's vocal delivery in the first verse irks me a bit. I like that it's not the same style as Out of Time, though, and that bodes well for the potential variety of the EP.
  20. I don't know, you could argue that it was the best in terms of extravagance and value of items - if that globe sells out, the price on eBay will probably skyrocket, especially because it's so limited. That's why the MTM and ATS boxes aren't worth shit - they weren't limited or numbered. It's certainly the worst for collectors in terms of the amount of money one has to shell out. I suppose the initial LT preorder was disappointing because the deluxe box wasn't available. At least now we know why it wasn't; they were saving it for this year.
  21. Yeah, selling an item like this at a loss wouldn't make sense. Even now the profit margin probably isn't all that high.
  22. That globe is definitely the majority of the price. The ATS box subbed in a 2x vinyl set instead of the globe and cut the price by 400 bucks. Like I said in the Shoutbox, with the limited number being so low, it'll definitely sell out by the end of the week - I've seen it happen with NIN's Ghosts I-IV, and that was 2500 copies. In a day. It is interesting to think about what sort of people will be buying this, however - clearly, the majority of fans here (who are people that I'd call 'mega-fans') don't care that there's content we've already heard on this album - they're going to buy it in some format either way. Surely there are plenty of people on here that can afford something like that, not to speak of the mega-fans on LPA, or ones that don't frequent a forum at all. 500 is a number that can easily be filled. But then again, LP's fanbase is younger overall, while NIN's isn't, especially not in 2008, so perhaps that comparison isn't as accurate as I would hope. Are iTunes preorders up yet?
  23. Told you guys it would be a ridiculous price. Fine art ain't cheap. Also, lp.com says $500 USD. Good fucking luck with that. maik_gianino brought up a good point at the top of the page that some of us (and yes, that includes me) should think about - the casual fan, the ones that aren't trying to scrape together the money to buy that stupid deluxe edition, the ones who haven't heard 7 of the 15 tracks on the remix album. They're the ones that are excited about this. We don't have to be, and quite frankly, I'm pretty sure the band doesn't care that much if the jaded mega-fan buys this album or not. Granted, the vast majority of that legion of casual fans will either pirate the album or stream it on Spotify, neither of which translate into album sales. But that's alright, I suppose. Remix albums never do well after the first week.
  24. Considering Mike's verses can basically be cut and pasted into any recent LP song, I'd say there's a strong likelihood. And that's good, because the verses are solid, if pretty generic. Plus "what don't kill you makes you more strong" is a cringe-worthy line. The song's appeal is clearly in the marriage of EDM with Mike and Chester's vocals, and it's a good song as a result. I'm not going to be spinning it on repeat for weeks on end, but that's fine. If they push further in an electronic direction with album 6 I'll probably still be on board.
