Purple Mike is the new lead vocalist.

After 100 hours we had the date and after another 100 hours we had a time for something we've all been waiting 7 years for. That's not exactly "nothing" in my opinion.

But 8pm local time is a great time to play a concert.

It's so many fan bases. Let's not single out the LP fan base on this. I think leaker/scooper culture has gotten mainstream and those things go viral now. People unknowledgeable or inexperienced with hearing about leaks and rumors take it all as gospel and get pissed when things don't come to fruition. I don't think there's a fan base that I am a part of that I haven't seen that kind of behavior in the past few years.

Nik is so convinced that Twenty One Pilots are involved. lol

Just listened to Weatherman by Dead Sara and holy shit. I'm gonna be bummed if it turns out it's not her now.

An announcement next Thursday (with a listening party/live performance/whatever for LPU members) for the new single to be released on Friday, September 13th, wouldn't surprise me. It would line up with the altguy leak as well since it would be the second week of September.

It could simply be "being a part" of the return in general. It could be a secret show, a music video shoot, a listening party, etc.

I'm watching the original Yugioh series right now. I never finished it as a kid and, after a bunch of Yugioh videos started being recommended to me on YouTube, I decided to give it another go.

I love TOP but it would be weird for the comeback single to be a collab.

I'm sorry, but as somebody who DID schedule my day around the countdown, it is embarrassing the amount of people acting like this is a grave betrayal. Does the countdown ending in nothing suck? Abso-fucking-lutely. But, at the end of the day, it's your own decision to schedule your day around it. You can't let entertainers - even ones we love as much as Linkin Park - dictate your mood to this extent with a marketing move. It's not healthy.

Oh yeah, saying they bungled this is fair. Acting like it's Linkin Park's fault if you called in sick to work is another thing entirely.

I think people are taking this way too harshly. Does it suck that nothing substantial happened today? You bet. I waited around all morning waiting for something to happen. I'm pretty disappointed. But people acting like the band betrayed them personally is way too fucking far.

Is anything happening Sunday night? Awards show, talk show, etc. that they might play at? That would be about the time it hits 100 hours on the count up.

I was really hoping we'd avoid this cryptic puzzle stuff this time around. But, hey, it really does feel like the old days in here.

I think that just shows how much the music world is paying attention to this countdown.

We're in the endgame now.

This is the biggest day for Linkin Park since 2017. I really hope we have a concrete announcement today and not something cryptic. Knowing this band though, I'm half-expecting a puzzle or something that will just be the first step towards revealing real news.

I think doing some one-off performances in these settings would be an effective way to cast a wider net in letting the world know Linkin Park is back.

If you're unknown, you're going to be pretty inexperienced when it comes to fronting a band that sells out arenas.

There's just no way that Linkin Park is going to have an unknown, inexperienced vocalist co-front the band. You don't go from complete obscurity to playing packed arenas as the lead vocalists for one of the biggest bands in the world. That's just a recipe for disaster.
