  1. I think they're moving to a more digital focus when it comes to the music.
  2. there's a video where you can test your own voice. I'm a E2-C5. So I guess I'm a baritone.
  3. How do you define "pop"? Because Minutes to Midnight was clearly more of a pop album than A Thousand Suns. It was their most pop album yet.
  4. That doesn't make any sense. How is it easier to do something you’ve never done before than to continue doing what you already know how to do? When is that EVER true? So it would be easier for a professional football player to just stop everything and start playing basketball? It would be easier to just move all your stuff to a new house instead of buying new furniture? It would be easier to stop building houses and start building cars? McDonalds should drop everything and start selling shoes? What bands do you think of as "legendary"? All of the legendary bands I can think of, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Metallica, U2, Radiohead, are known for experimenting with new music. THAT is what made them legends. I seriously don't know what you're talking about with this post, but it just is not true.
  5. Okay, I have to ask, you were joking right? And if not, do you let two different people use your account? Because I've always kind of felt like maybe you do. You're usually all about Chester and went through a "Mike isn't that great" phase. Fast forward to present day and you're all about how Mike is great because he loves the fans and you're down on Chester. Maybe you just have a very flip-floppy personality? Of course all of that is moot if you were joking. lolz.
  6. Why? Why limit yourself to one particular type of music? Why not make whatever you want to make, no matter what it sounds like?
  7. I don't believe so, but I do agree with you that that one "we are" scream sounds a lot like him.
  8. Wouldn't be surprising. 2005 was his worst year I think.
  9. Yeah, definitely not the best performance of New Divide. Chester didn't sound his best, more problems with Joe's gear. Edit: But holy shit, From The Inside. Chester's screams during the bridge. Whoa.
  10. I wouldn't really call this a new setlist. Also, it seems like One Step Closer is not emphasized nearly as much at festivals or events that don't specifically have to do with Linkin Park. It's been dropped and now it's randomly in at #3. Interesting.
  11. Sorry guys, I know Dave couldn't make it to the show. He chilled at my house today.
  12. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that we're operating on different levels of knowledge here. You don't play a musical instrument right? Or you don't know much about theory? I assume this because, if you did, you wouldn't call In The End "odd for a radio song." At its basic form, it's one of the most radio-y radio songs you could possibly think of. The structure, the chord changes, the complexity (or lack thereof), is what radio music is. Just because it sounds beautiful and haunting to you doesn't change those facts. It's easy to fluff up a basic song with special effects to make it sound good, just like its easy to fluff up a movie like Transformers to make it look good. That doesn't mean the song has substance. Yes, 4 of the 9 songs on A Thousand Suns have very basic structures. This of course means that more than half of the songs don't, as opposed to HT and Meteora where most or all of the songs do. That's why I think A Thousand Suns is "alternative pop" rather than "experimental." It's a step in a really great direction for the band. You're not a fool, but I do think you could stand to learn a bit more about how music actually works before trying to deeply evaluate an entire album.
  13. This is where you lost all credibility. Wow, a simple piano riff, harmonics, and power chords. How innovative. I honestly believe I could teach someone who had never touched a musical instrument how to play In The End in 24 hours. And yes, an album full of songs with v/c/v/c/b/c IS extremely boring. Because if you know anything about music theory, any song that uses that structure is incredibly predictable. I've literally listened to the radio and hummed along to the tune of songs that I had never heard before. Boring. Not creative. Now, I will grant you some points. A Thousand Suns is a new, experimental territory within the realm of Linkin Park music. However, in the grand scheme of music in general, it's not awfully edgy. It's what I'd consider "alternative pop." It's still accessible and enjoyable enough for a general audience to like it, but it doesn't play by the rules of the mainstream radio. So, with that said, I love A Thousand Suns, but I fully expect the next album to be more experimental. If it's not, I'll be a tad disappointed. Edit: You're also 99% wrong about how well the album flows. It flows really well at most points. Requiem->Radiance->Burning In The Skies->Empty Spaces, and then Robot Boy->Jornada->WFTE->Blackout->WaK->WJL->Iridescent all flows together great. Just because not all of the songs actually blend together doesn't mean anything. Some of them blend, and some of them just compliment each other in the right way in order to "tell the story" so to speak. But I agree with you 100% that Empty Spaces->WTCFM is one of the most random and awkward album moments I've heard.
  14. Maybe Cure For The Itch opened the US shows as a small salute to the big Hybrid Theory fans in the U.S., which I'm pretty sure is the country that loves that album the most (relative to other Linkin Park albums). Whereas this is Asia's first ATS tour so they get The Requiem.
  15. How are you getting to Pensacola? I'm considering going.
  16. That doesn't make it true. Pay attention to Mike Shinoda's personal blog, the guy is all about experimenting with music, and he just DOES NOT LIKE nu-metal anymore. Period. If he doesn't want to listen to it, why the hell do you think he would want to create it? It's not a money thing, it's their taste in music. It changed, deal with it. The music isn't what you like, the band has sold out. The band says something in an interview, you assume they're lying. Are you psychic or something? Because you seem to be able to know the band's thoughts better than the band members do. Right...Cannibal Corpse, Iron Maiden, Slayer, and Judas Priest are all "underground" and have never done anything to market their music. Wow. YES. Yes you do! An artist has to make music for himself, so that it can be artistic. So, for instance, when you have a bunch of fans crying and whining about how your band doesn't make nu-metal anymore, but you do not feel inspired as an artist to make nu-metal music, you should NOT LISTEN TO THE FANS and just make the music that you want to make, instead of pandering to your audience just so that they will like you. I agree with you!
  17. Wait, you talked to the band 10 Years about A Thousand Suns? How did that go? As for the album, I've honestly written so much about how it is objectively Linkin Park's most creative and experimental work, that I feel like repeating myself here is a waste of time, so I'll keep it simple. It's their most artistic music to-date for many reasons. Music is an art form, not just an excuse to jump around in your room with headphones on. Therefore, I'd say A Thousand Suns is, without much doubt, Linkin Park's best album thus far.
  18. I don't think it's asthma, I just think the song is pretty effing difficult to sing in its original form. But still, the fact that he incorporated it into the live show in any way, shape, or form should be more than enough for us. That's a huge surprise. NRL live was like getting a Charizard.
  19. Oh my god. I honestly thought No Roads Left would not be played in any way, ever. This is fucking huge, even if it's being sung over Bleed It Out. This is fucking awesome. Plus, the song being in a different key makes it easier for Mike to sing. Holyyyy shitttttt.
  20. Part of me wants to be pessimistic and say that because this is the very first show in Japan, there won't be anything different. But my original prediction was something new for this show, so I guess I'll stick by it.
  21. You can't be serious. Most original? What's original about Across The Line? Hands Held High and Blackout are both pretty good picks. When They Come For Me is pretty unique with the whole tribal feel and the middle eastern sounding chorus/outro by Chester. Very unique way to present his voice.
  22. I will be waking up at 6:30 am for this. Should be good.
