  1. End thread. It's not that confusing. People doubted Linkin Park when they were first starting out and tried to control what they did. Now they don't. It has nothing to do with money.
  2. My prediction is that not this show, but the next show, which is the one after the A Thousand Horizons presentation, will have something unique. This one will probably have the same set as the last couple shows.
  3. I'd say for the first couple shows, this is correct. But Pooch said new stuff is coming, and we can agree he's a pretty reliable source, am I right? So I think it's safe to say we'll get something during this tour.
  4. Oh come on. You know Blackout isn't enough for most people. They'll just say that Blackout's been played tons of times during the ATS tour, and that they should have included With You or Figure.09 in addition to Blackout. This is where the setlist trading card syndrome comes into play. We're all sitting here reading song names, and then someone who actually went to the show comes online and lays the smackdown. That said, and I'm sure I would have enjoyed myself immensely if I had been fortunate enough to go to this show, I would have been disappointed if I'd flown across the country after raising $500 dollars + travel expenses and I didn't even at least get to see When They Come For Me. Since my show in D.C. was canceled, I haven't been able to see that, or any ATS song live. However, that doesn't really give me the right to complain, because it's not like I was at this fucking show to begin with.
  5. As in, this show is being played for the benefit of people whose lives were destroyed in Japan, so playing a song like The Messenger in an intimate setting is a pretty sweet way of paying tribute. Edit: However, upon realizing that they dropped When They Come For Me for it, I can say that that is pretty disappointing.
  6. Well they played The Messenger. Which is really a nice surprise, given the reason this show is being performed.
  7. It's been said a couple times but I'll reiterate. The fan who is going to help raise $500 dollars for Linkin Park's charity is not the fan that only knows/wants to hear Numb and One Step Closer. So, while I don't expect anything huge tonight (nor do I expect it any night, seeing as I coined "setlist trading card syndrome" ), this would definitely be the right time and place to play an old/more obscure song.
  8. Numb/Radiance/Iridescent finally solves the WJL issue.
  9. "special art film" well shit maybe I was right.
  10. A short film based on A Thousand Suns? I dunno. A secret document somewhere mentioned a film.
  11. Didn't he say he'd be playing less guitar, but also said he's played some acoustic guitar? that counts.
  12. Every album Linkin Park has made has had pop elements in it. And of course pop music can be mature. "Pop" doesn't have to be a dirty word in music. Most people just associate it with garbage like Kesha so it feels like one.
  13. I hear what you're talking about. It happens at :57, 1:07, and so on at the beginning of every 2 measures. I'm not sure if it's a distorted vocal part or if it's just a very electronic sample though.
  14. The studio version of No More Sorrow makes me feel indifferent. The live version, on the other hand, kicks a lot of ass. Though of the three heavy songs on MTM, NMS is the most interesting.
  15. This. A Thousand Suns still puts everything else Linkin Park has done to shame. It's their most complete, creative work of art yet. HOWEVER, I recently went back and listened to Minutes To Midnight a bit, and I might be willing to concede that MTM has better lyrics than A Thousand Suns.
  16. No, they don't need to ALL be serious questions. The problem is, the huge majority of the chat is a bunch of non-sense drivel every single time. And we all paid 60 dollars for the privilege of being able to have these chats, so why exactly are we wasting it with questions that have either already been answered or are just silly? I don't think it's stupid or a waste of time if a fan asks Chester what he's been doing with his time off from touring, when the last time he saw Ryan or Amir was, how he enjoyed Country X the last time he visited, etc. That's all cool, the band members are human beings, I get that. What I don't get is when someone asks them if they like bacon over and over. Or if they reference some obscure quote from Frat Party that the band won't remember. Or if they ask a question like "will you tour my country" that everybody should fucking know by now won't get a worthwhile answer. It's one thing to ask a question that isn't strictly related to music or Linkin Park. But it's another thing to waste everyone's (including the band member's) time.
  17. And to be honest, Burning In The Skies may not be heavy, but it's definitely not slow either.
  18. It's not just in the lyrics either. Linkin Park have matured in the sense that they make music purely for the artistic passion of making music. They want to make music that has meaning to them. In the early days, I sense it was more about using music as a release. They were energetic young kids who wanted to dye their hair blue and jump around on stage screaming their asses off and banging power chords on their guitars. One of the band members said something to that effect around the time MTM came out. They aren't kids jumping around on stage anymore. Though the band will never say this outright, Meteora is the way it is largely to capitalize off of the success of Hybrid Theory. The label wanted more music like their first album because it sold a ton of units. Linkin Park wanted to make more music like that because they were a bit star-struck with their own fame. They had gone from playing clubs to headlining festivals in literally about a year, so they figured they needed to repeat what made them successful. With A Thousand Suns, Linkin Park has become motivated by artistic creativity. They want to make something different and unique. They want to make something they like. They want to make objectively good music. Think of it this way. Nu-Metal music is like candy. It's fun to listen to and jump around to, it makes you feel good, but it isn't good for you. It's made on a conveyor belt in some factory with some very artificial ingredients. A Thousand Suns is more of a step in the direction of a 5 course meal, prepared with all natural ingredients. No, it isn't easy to eat. No, it doesn't taste good to everyone, it isn't just a bunch of sweets. But it's good for you, and it's clearly the better food when you're being objective. Linkin Park doesn't want to whine about vague personal emotional problems set to the tune of drop D power chords. Linkin Park wants to make music that doesn't have a catchy chorus. Linkin Park wants to make music that talks about world/political/social problems (things that matter). And though they'll act like they don't care what critics say (and maybe they really don't), they want to make an album that is critically-acclaimed not because it's full of catchy pop songs like Crawling, Numb, In The End, etc, but because it's full of good, creative art. So yes, "the band has matured." And yes, that is why they don't make nu-metal anymore. I've followed this band since Hybrid Theory. I was in the 4th grade at the time. I don't know about you, but I'm not into much of the same stuff I was into when I was in the 4th grade anymore.
  19. I really like the entire album except for Crawl Back In. I have a very odd hatred of that song. It's so generic. Like, it's generic even for generic music. Anyone could have made that song. I could have made that song. But the rest of Out Of Ashes is a great listen.
  20. Chester, when Linkin Park will tour my country???? WE LOVE U XOXOXO do u liek bacon? how's ur nose doing? LOL will u scream more on new album? when is the new album coming out? Chester, when Linkin Park will tour my country???? WE LOVE U XOXOXO are u ever going to make music like Hybrid Theory again? wash, rince, repeat.
  21. http://mikeshinoda.com/2008/11/10/new-link...-album-in-2009/ lolz.
  22. Hey, I started that!
  23. It seemed like a very creative way of getting a not very creative "prize." But if it's free, it's free. So I'll gladly take it.
  24. You know everyone but Linkin/Joze seems to be basing their opinion on this topic solely on the LPU CD. There's more to it than that.
