  1. I hope not, because I want more Linkin Park albums. Plus, it's the same as the Fort Minor situation. The only reason Chester did DBS in the first place was because he had songs that he felt wouldn't fit with LP. Now that LP has said fuck everyone else let's just do whatever we like, he shouldn't have to make a solo album. Kinda like how Mike shouldn't have to make a FM album.
  2. Maybe it was the quality of the version on Hulu that kept me from noticing before, but having just got my CD/DVD today (had to be shipped from my house to my dorm), I hear some extra music in the documentary. I thought I'd make a thread about when in the DVD it plays, if for no reason other than just having it in writing (or typing). 1. 5:20 - 5:30: Chester screaming vocals and Rob drumming. 2. 5:30 - 5:40: Mike on harmonica and I believe Phoenix on piano. These two just seem very unstructured and more experimentation/random jamming than actual demos or b-sides, but you never know. 3. 9:25 - 9:36: What sounds like Brad (I assume) playing an acoustic melody. It's playing under Chester speaking. This is one of my favorite "other" pieces of music from the DVD. 4. 15:21 - 15:25: Mid-tempo electronic beat. Brad seems kind of "eh" about it. Also, Mike says "let's listen to the 5 and see what we think," meaning this song must have been a fairly new idea at this point. 5. 15:34 - 15:39: Slowish Mike "donna" melody. One of a "group of five," the groups of songs that LP focused in on and apparently more or less finished. Pretty audible bass. 6. 15:52 - 15:56: Ambient beat. Another one of a group of five, meaning this one should supposedly be finished or close to it. Definitely another favorite of mine (from what tiny bit there is). 7. 22:57 - 23:04: Heavy-as-fuck electro beat. This is from a demo Mike was making in the event that Warner was going to tell them that none of their music was right for a first single (like MTM and What I've Done). I'm assuming since they settled on The Catalyst that this was never finished. 8. 26:25 - 28:31: Ambient piano track. One very interesting thing to note is that at the 26:43 mark, if you listen very closely because this song is playing very subtly, you can hear Mike start to sing,-and then it quickly stops as if the song is on a loop (which I'd imagine it is since it plays in the background for over 2 minutes). That's it for the unheard music I hear in MOATS. If you guys see anything you think should be changed, say so. EDIT: I figured since I'm posting about the demos we hear in the documentary, I might as well type up a list of the ones we see on the board. Left Right, Meadowlands (Waiting For The End), Primo, Sakura, Tinfoil, Mikespiano, Robot Boy, Underbite, and Rygar were the ones I could read.
  3. More? MOAR? MOARRRRRRRR???
  4. Hybrid Theory's peak position was #2. Just sayin.
  5. What is this I don't even.
  6. You should try to be more objective I don't agree with the review either but I still think it's very intelligent. Though I did think comparing Blackout to Pendulum was a big stretch.
  7. Is this for the U.S.?
  8. I love you so much right now.
  9. I'm gonna post what I said on the LPL Facebook thing. Please know I'm not trying to undermine what you guys are doing, I'm just throwing a different perspective out there. We've been begging for LPU upgrades for years, and every year there are only minor changes and everyone always gets all worked up about it. This year, they finally decide to shake things up, and now we want to stop them because we want to keep things the way they are? That's really a complete 180 for a lot of people. I have not been on the LPUMB for years. Why? It really is not that active anymore, at least the last time I looked. I stopped using the message boards for good when I discovered LPL. I honestly believe you'll find more hardcore fans on here or on LPA than on the LPU. I've said this many times, I think someone sig'd me for it, but the LPU has been overrun by a bunch of immature trolls. I can understand why someone active in the LPU community for many years would miss the message boards, but it's been a slow degradation. Being sentimental about the message boards and post counts and join dates is understandable, but sacrificing that for real change in the LPU, to me, seems like a small price to pay (the irony of my word choice is that it costs 60 dollars lulzzzzz). But overall, I personally do not want to save the LPU, OR change the LPU, until we get some sort of idea of what the change might be. All anyone has said so far about LPUX is that "we want to try to make it a better experience." Yeah, great, what else is new? We need specifics. And seeing how huge this change would be, I really think the band or Adam or someone should not be afraid to tell the fans what they're thinking about doing, even if plans aren't 100% confirmed.
  10. If he was singing it, it wasn't a lip-sync. =P I think they should just play it pre-recorded anyway.
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/88j9 Follow the link to read the entire review, they touch on a couple specific songs. Here's a couple passages: It shouldn’t really be a surprise, but it’s still a shock to the system, exploding expectations like broken billiard balls. Minutes to Midnight, Linkin Park’s third album, made clear the California sextet’s move from nu-metal dynamics to something softer and more mainstream-friendly (not that they were struggling to shift records – 2000 debut Hybrid Theory has sold over 24 million copies). But if that was the sound of a band embracing their classic rock side, A Thousand Suns is, at its zenith/nadir (delete according to taste), Celine Dion Goes Mall Rock. However, it should be noted that Linkin Park were not intending to make an album when they set about recording these less-than-impressive efforts. They were playing with ideas, breaking down concepts that’d served them well previously, trying to find something fresh. They didn’t want whatever their next album was to be predictable, and while A Thousand Suns might have emerged by accident compared to previous LPs, it’s certainly a far from plays-to-perceived-type affair. If Linkin Park take the best moments of this haphazard set as jumping-off points for what happens next, they might just strike upon a new formula every bit as successful as the one that flogged their debut so brilliantly. Overall, one of the most intelligent reviews of the album.
  12. Seeing a festival bill that has AC/DC, Linkin Park, Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, Radiohead, and Muse all on the same day should tell you it's fake.
  13. I've never gotten this either. Mike's singing definitely has a quick rhythm to it, but I really would not call it rapping at all.
  14. Exactly. That entire conversation is about The Catalyst, and how the deadline for mixing and mastering it is a lot closer than the rest of the band seems to realize. Mike: "The mix is ready for notes..." Brad: "Well I thought that mix was going to get entered into the mixer shoot-out." <- Referring to when the band sent out random songs to random mixers for the blind test. Mike: "A mix is due to (EA), for that song in particular to put in the (game), mastered, done, put it in the (game), it is over, in a week, so that's not gonna happen." Mike (cont.): So maybe you understand better why I've been trying to put a little fire under the situation, cause the deadlines are here, it's go time, if we don't make these deadlines our (game) deal should go away, it needs to get canceled. LOL you really think Mike would want to cancel his band's record deal because they couldn't meet a deadline? Albums get pushed back all the time. The only deal that would be canceled by not meeting a deadline is one that involves a 3rd party, as in EA Games.
  15. Mike wasn't talking about canceling their record deal. He was talking about the EA Medal of Honor game deal. The words that get censored right before he talks about the _______ going away are "EA" and "game".
  16. I think the reason there's no crowd in the mix is because...the crowd wasn't making noise. XD But I wasn't there so I dunno.
  17. They've been working on an album for 2 years, and went through a ton of up's and down's along the way. I think that random New Divide tour they did is the last thing on their minds. Relax.
  18. RAWR I LOVE TO LISTEN TO LOUD ANGRY MUSIC TOO BECAUSE I AM ALSO LOUD AND ANGRY AND THE ONLY GOOD MUSIC IS THE MUSIC THAT EXPRESSES MYSELF WHICH IS LOUD AND ANGRY!!! /typicalmetalfan
  19. This song stands out on ATS for sure. Honestly I think it should have been the lead single.
  20. This song = Mike whipping out his huge dick and slapping every mediot and/or fans who only want *tuff* music right in the face.
  21. Yeah stuff like this makes it confusing. You never know what counts as an album release. I think Songs From The Underground has more of a chance at counting than LPU9. And are we sure it was a five album contract?
  22. Wow. That wouldn't be low for an average artist these days, but a world famous band like Linkin Park? That is damn low.
  23. I doubt they'd be able to discuss their contract with just anybody like that. Hopefully it's over soon though, especially now that the band seems like they're going to put out albums more quickly now (though I'll believe that when I see it. )
  24. No one really knows (I think). There have been some numbers thrown around like "they have to make ___ more albums in their current contract," but as far as I know that's all been rumor.
