  1. Jesus, learn some information sonny boy. You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. You're the clown that brought slavery into it in the first place. Good god, slavery? 2010? What type of green are you smoking fool? Let me take for instance something that always bothers me. Why in the world are there things like "BET" or "Historically Black Colleges." Is that not the most subtly racist shit around? If there were ever an instance where there was "White TV" or a college or chain of colleges that were deemed "Historically White" well that TV channel and those colleges would be crucified by the likes of "Civil Rights Activists" like Sharpton and that true pscyhopathe Joe Lowery. Mark made a great point and should be the only real point dealing with this thread. If he were black and the woman on stage was white, he would have referred to her as "the fat white woman" simply because, as a natural thing, you are going to describe someone that is different from you. There are instances where people will make racist connotations out of it, and that is ridiculous; however, when you are simply describing someone like it was done in this thread, it shouldn't be a deal. It's not racist to god damn simply state a fact like "the fat black woman." Hell, she was fat and she was black so I don't get what the god damn deal is. Last time I checked "black" wasn't a racist term.
  2. What in the good fuck are you bringing god damn slavery into this issue. No one alive today that is "black" or "white" Americans can call themselves people of slavery, master or slave. Can't call there parents, or their grandparents, or their great-grandparents either. Slavery was Civil War-era bullshit. Different times, you fucking idiot. Slavery belongs nowhere in a conversation dealing with 2010. I don't know why this has become an issue, who the fuck gives a fuck if she was called a "fat black woman." Black are a minority in America along with Hispanics, Asians, and every other race that fits in America. White people are the majority. That's not racist; that's just fucking fact. Anyone who lives in America and doesn't know who Al Sharpton is, but wants to start a bitch rant on something stupid like this on a rock band's fan sites message board, is a god damn dumass. Al Sharpton is one of the most racist fools in the media and there is no doubt that blacks get away with so much more than whites do due to clown's bullshit like this. Was Al Sharpton a slave? Fuck no. Jesus Christ, learn some information.
  3. What I've Done shouldn't have won. Alice in Chains should have won, straight up. But What I've Done shouldn't have even been on there - why in the world would the Grammy's grab WID off of a band's live DVD that came out in 2008 compared to the other finalist's all having studio tracks. There wouldn't be a case for WID studio either because it shouldn't be for a 2010 Grammy. 2008 Grammy, yeah, but not 2010. I haven't even heard of that AC/DC track and I like AC/DC... I guess not that much then lol.
  4. I'll bet you a Gwinnett Muse ticket on Stubhub you're wrong. As far as to who gives a fuck, well, I would assume everyone on this fucking board would give a fuck when Linkin Park's fourth studio album is coming out. But that's just a wild guess. Coming out "by June" and by "the end of the year" is a big difference. This is pathetic. Ever since early last year, I was pretty convinced this would come out September-December 2010. After seeing a few different interviews with "June" being mentioned, I thought summer was possible. Apparently not. As it's pretty pointless to put any stock in their guestimations as to when their precious work is coming out, it could come out in May it could come out in 2011 (no joke, it could at this rate). It's pretty disappointing mostly because they are once again taking a long time. It's not as if they just got into the studio a month or two ago. They have been in there, officially, since October 2008. That's going on a year and half. Some huge, $500 million dollar movies are made and released during this time. I just don't understand why they need to take so long. Is there something they can't do or think of right now that they will in June? August? Can Brad not nail that guitar solo or something?
  5. Rob is by far my least favorite member of the band - but still Happy Birthday. While I think, for some reason, LP holds him back a little bit, he shouldn't be regarded as one of the best drummers in the business. Some of his loops and material is just plain amateurish including 75% of his drum solos. With that said, some of his best work include (in no order) A Place For My Head, Easier to Run, and Little Things Give You Away. By FAR, his best solo was Montreal 2008.
  6. No, you are actually right. In today's rock world, there are so many bands, big and small. You're going to have your guitarist's bring the crunchy riffs, and the bass players, and the drummers. But, in reality, the thing that makes band's unique is the lead vocalist and that is Chester. Of course, every band and instrumentalist has their style but no one has the same voice and that's always a quick draw to whether someone is going to like a band or not. Back on topic, great interview, although rather short. They were both obviously nervous but they were both very noble for going and spilling the cause. Huge kudos for LP and Mike S. for their work in all this and single-handily getting huge bands that don't have direct connection with them in terms of genre and such. Mike is obviously as the forefront of this project and should be given major props. LP has a band, should also, be given big props. I wouldn't look to much into Larry's comments, he obviously knew nothing about LP from Mike's video on the blog. Plus, it's not as if he was totally off because Mike is co-lead vocalist.
  7. This track is certainly nothing that should be hailed as their finest but I think it's a solid track that is for a good cause. A heavier track would not have fit and I think this song is pleasant. Nothing fancy and not the best vocal performance from Chester but good especially if this was indeed written for Haiti and not something locked away from previous sessions. Once again wish this was a more "band" output instead of Mike Shinoda ft. Chester B. and Joe H.
  8. The whole DBS thing sucks and you people need to get over it. 2010 is the year of Linkin and that is good news.
  9. Why would he joke about that? Those twitter accounts are both official - Phoenix and John Mayer - so I don't see why they would be joking? Interesting way of approaching someone like John Mayer... I'm not sure what ties LP and JM have but interesting. I doubt new music from LP directly... perhaps an LP ft. John Mayer track?
  10. This song was on the original setlist for the Milton Keynes show as the intro to the first encore.
  11. Excellent find. I love shit like this. I love Jay. He loves LP, that is a fact. That is definitely Mike. I really like shit like that. Jay-Z is definitely one of the best and most listenable rappers in out there. Not bullshit like Kanye.
  12. I was about to post exactly what you did. First thing you say (especially on phone) is usually what you mean to say... I have a feeling Chester is indeed in love with being the lead singer of LP but I don't think it's as gracious and fun-loving as we all think inside the studio and on tours and such. Who knows.
  13. I don't see how they could be hyping it up this much to be something less than a full song complete with vocals. While I wouldn't be surprised to get a Lockjaw-type, I'm willing to bet this is going to be something good. I was really discarding this too; I thought it might just be background music or something. This sounds like the real deal. Certainly not into the games, so I'll wait for one of you gamers to get the deed done and get the track. Also, that Rolling Stone article is good proof that this shouldn't be just an instrumental or "Mickey Mouse" track. This should be a good song. I'm just not sure if it would have come from recent sessions (they took time out for ND) or MTM or somewhere in between. I'm hoping its something from recent sessions because I want to hear how the band is progressing.
  14. Um, this is what I said in the other thread: This album sounds funky, I am really trying not to get excited about it because I have a feeling its either going to kick-ass or it's going to be a real disappointing dud considering the amount of time and the typical "band hype" that this is going to be a "a genre busting album." They thought MTM would be that, and sorry, but it wasn't. I said the band (Mike) said this new album is going to be "genre busting." I said they thought MTM would be something like that but I never said Mike actually said that about Minutes. With all the descriptions in late 2006, early 2007, you would think it would have been. But they never used that term for MTM and I never said they used that term... I just personally said they thought it would be based on band descriptions of the album before it was released. Fact is, I know Mike said a while back about this new album being "genre busting" and that's what I was talking about in the first place.
  15. I knew Mike used the "genre busting" term for this new album. Whoever questioned me in another thread can go suck it. Mike is excellent. I'm glad he didn't put the working titles up because he is exactly right... this place would just get flooded and arguments start around, uh, say page 2. I'd rather wait for real titles and get the working titles after the record is released. With the amount of updates getting in recent weeks, it appears the band is moving forward. I think June is a good estimate of a release. I don't see how they could do it before then so I would say June is possible, but it would also be the earliest. However, I don't see last half of 2010-first half of 2011 as realistic possibilities now because it sounds like they have most of their material.
  16. It's their best album and best years of touring so..... but no seriously, a bit surprising, I wish more details came out of the "Meteora" era.
  17. I know there are a ton of bands out there that have weird names, big and small, but there is something about all those names that screams baby and backseat bands.... not sure why. Linkin Park is certainly off-the-wall when you look at it literally but I think it's a more powerful name. I just couldn't see 10 PM Stocker or Probing Lagers on a huge backdrop flanking the band. Just an interesting input. Anyways, great post from Mike. Enjoyed it all. Surprised Phoenix was number one, but the way he explained it made perfect sense. I think Phoenix obviously saw that LP was going to be something but on the flipside, he had been an original band member and it was Mike and Co. begging him to come back. So, while I'm sure being signed to a label like WB and records and tours on the horizon helped his decision, I think its safe to say he was going to come back regardless. No. 5 absolutely 100% sounds like LP. That was very interesting. With all their weekly band meetings and substantially different way of recording music (they do things rather business-like compared to other bands that jam into tunes), I think thats pretty amusing they would do all that. However, very professional. Shanghai is interesting, I'm glad that certain shows obviously do register on the band's minds. The pictures were good too. I think MTM was a bit cliche since we obviously all know how much that did change the band. But I'm glad he focused more on talking about the band as people and not as musicians. Nice post.

    Mike's Update

First off, if you read what I said, I was referring to the new album as a "genre busting album" not MTM. I read, in one of the interviews from the past year, where Mike said something along those lines trying to describe what they wanted to do with the new album. But, hey, in my opinion, that's a fairy generic term because it seems like LP is always wanting to make that genre busting album. Well, actually, their first try, Hybrid Theory was actually that. MTM is nothing of a "genre busting album" but rather an attempt by a band wanting a new identity and to get out of that "nu-metal" shell. However, while I applaud the band for going outside of the box where some bands who are successful wouldn't, I think overall they failed in making a completely original and different record. Yeah, it was different for LP. But not very much different than anything that can be heard on rock and pop radio stations throughout the world. I'm also smart enough to realize they have not just "come up" with 5 song in a year at a studio. However, I just do not understand why they feel they have to take so long when other bands can complete albums in 3-4 months including mixing and mastering. Some of those records suck; some can be considered that band's best material. Point is, a year would be OK at making a record but the fact is it has been over a year and we're still not seeing much light at the end of the tunnel. And, of course let me point again, that MTM is 2.5 years old.... yeah they toured a ton but they also write a ton on the road and in between legs. Just sayin'.

    Mike's Update

Well, I am glad you feel that it is a genre BUSTING album. But it's not. Sure, it was significantly different for LP but it obviously didn't melt anyone in rock music... in fact, from what I gather, it soured more casual fans than it gained. I never said I didn't like MTM. It's my least favorite LP piece but Given Up, No More Sorrow, and What I've Done are stellar tracks. I may prefer harder, heavier music but I can also appreciate a band's change of direction. I just think LP changed their direction a little far and didn't create a very listenable record much like Hybrid Theory and Meteora are. I respect all the tracks on MTM... however, most of them, in my opinion, are not a true representation of the band. LOL @ you mentioning Bleed It Out, obviously the most similar track to anything they had done previously and one of their most weak studio tracks ever.

    Mike's Update

Well they have been in the studio for well over a year now, and everyone is so excited now because of "5 songs." Well, at that rate, we might not have a new album for another year. Just saying. At any rate, it's pointless to guess. June? April? 2011? The fact of the matter is, LP takes a really long time to produce studio albums. As in they think they need all the time in the world to make a 40 minute album. It's their album so they can do what they want, but it has been 2.5 years after MTM. A lot of people seem to forget that because of tours... Some rock bands have released amazing albumS in that same time span along with touring and such. This album sounds funky, I am really trying not to get excited about it because I have a feeling its either going to kick-ass or it's going to be a real disappointing dud considering the amount of time and the typical "band hype" that this is going to be a "a genre busting album." They thought MTM would be that, and sorry, but it wasn't.
  21. Nothing new. Half way done. He said a month ago they had "5 completed" songs or about to be complete. I have completely stopped guessing when this record will come out.
  22. With this decade fast coming to a close, everyone from sports journalists to movie critics to music know-it-alls are putting out these lists. Considering I have read some pretty prominent sites (AOL, MTV, SI, Billboard) I'm pretty astonished at some of the rankings, even for LP. Adam Lambert, considering he JUST got on the scene should be nowhere near a top 10 list. Some of those lists I have read are just puzzling whether they are fan voted or placed by "professional critics."
  23. That's awesome news, and I'm not complaning about the list because I like most all of those songs a lot but that has to be some noob columnist or something. Runaway and Crawling as LP's other signature songs? Odd combo. Weird list. I can see why that list is getting some hate even though I really enjoy the songs. I think ITE certainly deserves its spot. What exactly describes an alternative song?
