  1. This thread could have been locked after Astat stated the obvious.
  2. I've read people on other boards say that the band just doesn't know how to write heavy music anymore, and come across as a self-important imitation of their past selves. I agree 100%, even if I like most of the album. I think that with the next LP release, I'll ignore any interviews they do, because LP can't back up any of the hype they put out. There's nothing wrong with the music they make, and I love most of it, but people won't be talking about how "Guilty All The Same" brought alternative rock back into the mainstream 20 years from now. So that's my rant against the band over promoting their work, lol. Personally, I skip "Final Mascerade" just as quickly as I skip past "Powerless", "The Messenger", and "Little Things Give You Away", along with any of the other LP power ballads. Same goes for anything Mike sings on. I don't want 10 "Hybrid Theory" sequels, but prefer to have Mike rapping, Chester finding a balance between singing/screaming, and the band musically mixing it up in the studio like they do on the current setlist: rap and rock mashed up with a DJ using samples and beats to bridge the gap. They do a far better job blending their styles together in the live show than they do in the studio, where tracks like "Until It Breaks" sound like a clusterfuck of an amateur mashup.
  3. I'll be there on the lawn. Haven't seen LP live since the ATS tour at the Boston Garden. Looking forward to seeing them in Mansfield again, since the PR tour with Busta & Cornell was killer a few years back.
  4. Here's what I want to see this Summer, but they won't come anywhere close: 1) Session 2) Guilty All The Same 3) With You ("Reanimation" version) 4) Blackbirds 5) Lost in the Echo (with 2012 intro) 6) Until It's Gone (with "Catalyst"/"No More Sorrow" intro) 7) A Light That Never Comes 8) Castle of Glass ("Experience" version) 9) Blackout 10) In My Remains 11) Figure.09 12) Jornada Del Muerto 13) Easier to Run 14) Wastelands 15) Pushing Me Away ("Reanimation" version) 16) Mike Solo Medley ( 17) I'll Be Gone 18) Faint ("A Place For My Head" bridge) ENCORE 19) Leave Out All The Rest (Mike & Chester acoustic) 20) QWERTY 21) Forgotten 22) One Step Closer ("Reanimation" version with extended outro) NOTES: -No drum solo -No bathroom breaks (see: Piano versions of anything)
  5. I love every single one of these and can't find a flaw in any of them. Chester seems psyched to be performing new songs, both here and especially at the KROQ show earlier in the week. After watching those two and the Rock AM Ring show, I finally caved and bought a ticket to the Mansfield gig this Summer. Can't wait!
  6. This is my least favorite release based on the purchase process alone. Pre-ordered on iTunes so it would download to my phone automatically at midnight last night. Guess what? Still won't download. Added bonus: I don't get the Hybrid Theory set. This is too much hassle for a mediocre album. I like the new songs mixed into the live show, though. It helps freshen it up alot and all the "Hunting Party" tracks sound great live.
  7. You're not alone, there's at least two of us lol. I love "Until It's Gone" & "Guilty All The Same", but the rest of the album doesn't do anything for me after a half dozen listens. I'm sure it'll grow on me over time, but for now, I'm bored to tears with "The Hunting Party".
  8. So SWR lost some grass that they probably didn't pay for anyways. Who gives a shit? The most offensive thing about all of this are the frequent and offensive references to Eric, Rome & Josh being "Sublime."
  9. Heard the track a couple times and like the heavy direction. Rakim's rap doesn't do much for me, and although it's a different vocal approach for Chaz, his voice sounds shot. Maybe that's what they were going for. Either way excited to hear new LP and pre-ordered the official download on iTunes for midnight
  10. I saw LP for the 2nd time at the Worcester date of the MWT. Good show, but I definitely preferred seeing them at a smaller venue on the LPU Tour.
  11. At best, I hope for one good track on each edition of LPU, and with "Promo", I got it. "Basquait" is decent, and the UIB demos are interesting but without replay value IMO. The rest of the album will be sent to the dusty folder of LP tracks I never listen to. At best, I hope for one good track on each edition of LPU, and with "Promo", I got it. Considering "Recharged" just came out, Chester & STP did an EP, and there's a new studio album in 2014, I can deal with a lackluster LPU release for now. Releasing "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" on vinyl helps, too.
  12. Agreed. Every year there seems to be at least one track that is amazing. "Primo" is great, just like "I have not begun", "QWERTY", and other stand-out tracks have been on past LPU releases.
  13. That would be great, thanks. All the instrumentals make me long for the days of live tracks, especially with DSP's a thing of the past. I'm casting my vote for the "Hybrid Theory" set at Download to be the 2014 LPU CD. $30 for instrumentals and music from other bands is a bit much for my wallet.
  14. Strange to me that Hot Topic would randomly start selling LP vinyl without any fanfare so close to Record Store Day's "Black Friday". Warner is usually heavily involved in those RSD events. Oh well. Not going to complain!
  15. Watching the encore broadcast right now, and man, Chester is KILLING IT as the front man of STP. This is the first full show I've seen from CheSTP and I'm blown away. The one-off TV/radio performances don't do the band justice at all. This makes me wish I caught them in Boston a few weeks back.
  16. The stream was all over the place for me in terms of quality and skipping, but from what I saw/heard it was a great performance and Chester killed it. Hope a proper rip shows up after the encores air
  17. "Reanimation" was great, to me, because it felt familiar and different at the same time. New verses or vocals from Chester & Mike meshed perfectly with the guest appearances, and the instrumentals were unique. "Recharged" shares those traits at points - which are the only points I like - but for the most part feels like a bloated album of generic tracks that can't touch fan remixes (See: LPA's "Monthly Mash-up"), much less compete against the original songs on "Living Things." Long story short, I love the new vocals by LP and friends, and the music is great at points (thanks for the 'Reboot', Rick!), but this really feels like LP just trying to fill up a CD with every remix they had lying around on Mike's floor. Why else would the same track be on the album twice? This should have been an EP that is more focused and original. At least there's new LPU & LP albums coming soon.
  18. I hope someone here (or anywhere) can record it. It says it'll be an acoustic performance
  19. Weak release, IMO. On its own I suppose it's a decent modern rock EP, but I can't help but compare it to STP's past work, and this reminds me more of their last album with Scott than their first with him. Too generic for me.
  20. Same. Of the stuff we have heard so far, the only track I like is "A Light That Never Comes." I think I'll pick and choose when it comes out on iTunes. This will be the first LP album I don't purchase, based on the "generic B-Side remix" vibe the LT subscription tracks had.
  21. It's all over YouTube. Love it, but wish a soundboard live recording would be included on a single or something. I've never liked LP's overproduced vocals on the studio tracks.
  22. How about we skip a petition and everybody buys a DSP? Or start a Kickstarter campaign with all the funds used to buy DSP's for LPL contests? Just a thought, since money is all LP/Warner/everyone cares about. I lost my 2008 shows when I moved and just grabbed the NYC gig with Jay-Z. Never realized it was the same day as my son's birth
  23. I like the idea of a petition. The RHCP one was started by a single fansite and got 1,500 signatures in the first 24 hours. With the combined effort and strength in numbers of the LP fan sites I'd think the same (or better) success would result. The DSP's are 75% of my interest in LP. It's always great to hear a new album or LPU release, but above all else I love listening to the DSP's to hear how Chester's voice was, what the crowd was like, etc. The setlist doesn't change as much but the shows are never the same note-for-note, so it keeps it interesting. Hope DSP's return one way or another.
  24. RHCP play essentially the same 30 or so songs every tour, but change it up with teases & jams, making their DSP's worth checking out. LP only having 3 setlists each tour and rarely improvising (think "No Woman No Cry" in Tel Aviv! It can be done, LP!) doesn't help the "must have" element of the DSP. It also hurts that the DSP site sucks from top to bottom, IMO. If you are not using the right browser with the current plugins, it'll crash, and you'll never hear back from tech support. If you don't believe me I have half a show from Uncasville, CT on my hard drive and 5 unanswered e-mails to show you. Maybe reducing the price would help, but I assume people wouldn't be happy unless they got it for free. Awareness could be an issue, but then again, LP gave away DSP's to every show on the ATS Tour a couple years ago (right?) and that didn't keep people coming back either. Who knows what the issue is but I'm down to support a movement for old or (especially) new shows!
  25. STP were my first 'favorite band' when I was younger, dating back to buying "Core" on cassette and looping it forever. I still think their "MTV Unplugged" performance is my favorite of all the Unplugged episodes, too. Very cool to see two bands I love intertwined this way and I dig the new song, though it reminds me of Velvet Revolver more than STP or LP. I wonder how long this will last, though, at least under the name STP. Scott has said in interviews that he owns the name of the band, and even if he doesn't, I think it disrespects STP's legacy to EVER replace Weiland and continue to tour/record. Bands like AC/DC and Van Halen have done the same thing with great success, but it just puts a bad taste in my mouth, similar to Sublime with Rome using "Sublime" as part of their band name despite having only one original member.
