https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=cat...=HD093624950431 What do you guys think? I got the album on iTunes but am considering the "HD Tracks" version if it's any better than a FLAC I could rip for myself off a CD...

Chester sounded horrible on the chorus. This "Building it ERRRRRP" business has got to stop! -
I felt the same way after the first listen, but after a couple dozen plays I love the album, or at least the first 2/3 of it. Everything up to "Tinfoil" is cool, and then it feels like they're filling time to drag out the end of the album. One of these days they'll end a studio album with Chester going crazy with screams instead of insisting on the soft pop ballad.

Any word on if the full show / theater version was ripped by anyone? I remember the Madrid LP show being ripped from the satellite feed, and when RHCP did a similar "Live in Theaters" event the same thing happened...

I've listened to the original leak (iTunes Stream) a couple dozen times since it came out, but am looking forward to downloading the real deal from iTunes at midnight tonight. When ATS came out, I noticed the CD and other digital versions (Amazon) were mastered at a higher volume and had more distortion & clipping, which drove me nuts when I listened with headphones. iTunes had a better mix, and will get my business this time around. I'll miss owning a physical copy, but since LP decided to skip a deluxe edition, digital will work for now. /end of audiophile rant

I love that they keep releasing the LPTV episodes in HD. The episodes for this album and ATS blow away any "Making of" DVD that would come out (or did, in the case of ATS) Poor Chester, too. I know there are deadlines and such but I don't understand why he wouldn't record vocals (especially screams!) at a different time if he was sick. Seems like LP would have the resources or leeway to make it happen. Badass performance though!

Telekom Streetgigs Trailer + Burn It Down - Live in Berlin
sublimeric replied to maatze's topic in Newswire
LOL Chester says the best fans (and the most beautiful people, too) are in whatever town LP are playing that night :-p Agreed about the LIT songs live. "Burn It Down" sounds weak in comparison and I hate Mike's vocal effects on "Lies Greed Misery." I'm sure everything sounds great in person, like someone else said. Hard to not get caught ERRRRRRRP in the moment at a show -
After a dozen listens or so, I am ready to do a 180 and say I love the album. It starts to go downhill once Brad's vocals kick in during "Until It Breaks", but not to the point where I dislike any of the songs. I wish they would have ended "Powerless" with a long, badass scream by Chester, but overall it's all good. Really anxious to see these songs live, and I hope they all get performed at some point or another.

I don't hear any hits on this album, besides "Burn It Down".

I've listened to the album 3 times and it's my least favorite LP release at this point. Reminds me of something they would release for LPU and sounds like a robotic version of the band. Definitely some cool moments and a few good tracks, but overall a thumbs down from me. Top 3 tracks: 1. BURN IT DOWN 2. LOST IN THE ECHO 3. VICTIMIZED

The ATS edition of "Live Around the World" is up on Spotify...kind of. The track listing and info is there but it does not let me play any of the songs.
-
I recorded the stream at work but don't have any speakers here. What is the quality like? I'll skip my rip entirely if it's like 96kbps mono or something. Funny that Apple leaked the album right after Mike blamed warehouses/WBR on his blog :-p
-
Maybe it'll be footage from the HOB/LPU show?
-
Pooch responded on Facebook and says it's just an effect he is using. No backing track, no band member backing vocals.
-
Listening to "MTM Live Around the World" right now at work. Love the versions of "Hands Held High" (Osaka) & "In Between" (Paris) that were chosen! Still wish there some additional insight from the band as to why certain performances were picked, but this is pretty cool for people that want to check out LP's live sound but are not as obsessed as my fellow DSP collectors.

I don't understand the obsession with crowd interaction. LP go into the crowd once or twice and put on a great musical performance. It's a waste of time and annoying to have Chester tell every crowd they are beautiful every night, or for Mike to constantly tell people to "get up!" Much better when the crowd gets into a show on their own, IMO -

Are people REALLY shitting on fellow fans for going out of their way to do a flashmob? Good or bad, regardless of the result, we should be supporting each other and not shitting on ambition and creativity. I think it's a cool idea and give props to those who did it! Also, props to Mark for accurately transcribing the live version of "Burn It Down", which is now known as "Building it ERRRRP". Maybe LPL can put that on a t-shirt and talk about it endlessly for 3 years, LPA style? Loved the comment either way Hahninator -

Thanks for the recap and for all you do here & at "the usual place"! Hope you enjoyed the show -
Exactly. Maybe there's another band member rapping along with Mike, but Chester seems to do backing vocals sporadically, similar to "Papercut" & "Bleed It Out." It also doesn't sound like a delay or special vocal effect. I hear it as Mike rapping over his own backing track, like Eminem and tons of other rappers do during "live" performances. Maybe Pooch can shed some light on this one...

The earlier people can hear my fanboy love for LT, the better. The most promotion the album will get will happen during the first week of release, and then it's July and there's a new CD at #1 on iTunes, in the front of Best Buy, and so on. Hearing the album early and being able to tell people "I heard it! It's great!" is more effective - in my opinion - than "The new LP is out 6/25 and a couple songs are good. That's all I know."
-
I've listened to the DSP version of LIES GREED MISERY from the Lisbon, PinkPop & Skive and am not a fan so far. The song as a whole is good, but the apparent backing track that Mike uses to double his voice irritates me to no end. For year, LP's live sound has been the driving force behind me being a fan, and if they are going to try and make things sound more (overproduced) like the studio versions, via backing tracks or instruments, I'm not feeling it. I prefer Chester just back Mike up like he does in "Papercut" verses.
-
I rank my favorite shows based on when Chester sounds best. Unfortunately he's hit or miss most of the time but it makes it fun to hear all the DSP's and try to pick out his best performances. The rest of the band is alright, too :-p
-
This whole thing is silly. LP should be happy people are listening to the album period, regardless of when that process happens. I assume the I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING BEFORE THE RELEASE! people will be happy to have Mike's support though :-p

By the time LP play their first setlist on the Honda Civic Tour, they will have 64 studio songs to choose from. I realize that some of those tracks are instrumentals, intros, interludes and other words that start with "in", but regardless, it won't kill the band to shuffle the singles/staples in and out or drop a few entirely. "Crawling" is the song that made me a LP fan back in 2001 when it hit radio, but aside from the duet with Chris Cornell, it's been boring for about a decade. Even the "Hands Held High" and REANIMATION intro got real old real fast. There's a good chance that listening to every DSP burns me out on songs quicker than the average fan, but still. LP are only playing half of their catalog, and greedy super fans like me want more PS: Props to LPL for the "Crawling" stats!
