  1. Strange to me that Hot Topic would randomly start selling LP vinyl without any fanfare so close to Record Store Day's "Black Friday". Warner is usually heavily involved in those RSD events. Oh well. Not going to complain!
  2. Watching the encore broadcast right now, and man, Chester is KILLING IT as the front man of STP. This is the first full show I've seen from CheSTP and I'm blown away. The one-off TV/radio performances don't do the band justice at all. This makes me wish I caught them in Boston a few weeks back.
  3. The stream was all over the place for me in terms of quality and skipping, but from what I saw/heard it was a great performance and Chester killed it. Hope a proper rip shows up after the encores air
  4. "Reanimation" was great, to me, because it felt familiar and different at the same time. New verses or vocals from Chester & Mike meshed perfectly with the guest appearances, and the instrumentals were unique. "Recharged" shares those traits at points - which are the only points I like - but for the most part feels like a bloated album of generic tracks that can't touch fan remixes (See: LPA's "Monthly Mash-up"), much less compete against the original songs on "Living Things." Long story short, I love the new vocals by LP and friends, and the music is great at points (thanks for the 'Reboot', Rick!), but this really feels like LP just trying to fill up a CD with every remix they had lying around on Mike's floor. Why else would the same track be on the album twice? This should have been an EP that is more focused and original. At least there's new LPU & LP albums coming soon.
  5. I hope someone here (or anywhere) can record it. It says it'll be an acoustic performance
  6. Weak release, IMO. On its own I suppose it's a decent modern rock EP, but I can't help but compare it to STP's past work, and this reminds me more of their last album with Scott than their first with him. Too generic for me.
  7. Same. Of the stuff we have heard so far, the only track I like is "A Light That Never Comes." I think I'll pick and choose when it comes out on iTunes. This will be the first LP album I don't purchase, based on the "generic B-Side remix" vibe the LT subscription tracks had.
  8. It's all over YouTube. Love it, but wish a soundboard live recording would be included on a single or something. I've never liked LP's overproduced vocals on the studio tracks.
  9. How about we skip a petition and everybody buys a DSP? Or start a Kickstarter campaign with all the funds used to buy DSP's for LPL contests? Just a thought, since money is all LP/Warner/everyone cares about. I lost my 2008 shows when I moved and just grabbed the NYC gig with Jay-Z. Never realized it was the same day as my son's birth
  10. I like the idea of a petition. The RHCP one was started by a single fansite and got 1,500 signatures in the first 24 hours. With the combined effort and strength in numbers of the LP fan sites I'd think the same (or better) success would result. The DSP's are 75% of my interest in LP. It's always great to hear a new album or LPU release, but above all else I love listening to the DSP's to hear how Chester's voice was, what the crowd was like, etc. The setlist doesn't change as much but the shows are never the same note-for-note, so it keeps it interesting. Hope DSP's return one way or another.
  11. RHCP play essentially the same 30 or so songs every tour, but change it up with teases & jams, making their DSP's worth checking out. LP only having 3 setlists each tour and rarely improvising (think "No Woman No Cry" in Tel Aviv! It can be done, LP!) doesn't help the "must have" element of the DSP. It also hurts that the DSP site sucks from top to bottom, IMO. If you are not using the right browser with the current plugins, it'll crash, and you'll never hear back from tech support. If you don't believe me I have half a show from Uncasville, CT on my hard drive and 5 unanswered e-mails to show you. Maybe reducing the price would help, but I assume people wouldn't be happy unless they got it for free. Awareness could be an issue, but then again, LP gave away DSP's to every show on the ATS Tour a couple years ago (right?) and that didn't keep people coming back either. Who knows what the issue is but I'm down to support a movement for old or (especially) new shows!
  12. STP were my first 'favorite band' when I was younger, dating back to buying "Core" on cassette and looping it forever. I still think their "MTV Unplugged" performance is my favorite of all the Unplugged episodes, too. Very cool to see two bands I love intertwined this way and I dig the new song, though it reminds me of Velvet Revolver more than STP or LP. I wonder how long this will last, though, at least under the name STP. Scott has said in interviews that he owns the name of the band, and even if he doesn't, I think it disrespects STP's legacy to EVER replace Weiland and continue to tour/record. Bands like AC/DC and Van Halen have done the same thing with great success, but it just puts a bad taste in my mouth, similar to Sublime with Rome using "Sublime" as part of their band name despite having only one original member.
  13. At least one copy of HT was for sale at 11 different Bull Moose Music stores in Maine & New Hampshire, and the location closest to me still had 3 copies in stock this morning. There's another prominent Record Store 'chain' (Newbury Comics) in my region that also had multiple copies. I'm guessing that since the record was so easy to find in Maine, the number of pressings is off. I know that when 311 released "Soundsystem" on vinyl, for example, they promoted it as "only 2,000 copies pressed" but the real number was 3 times that. Anyways, end of rant. I'm picking up my copy on Friday, and will let you guys know when the local store puts copies on sale on their website. They have it priced at $26 and free shipping in the US
  14. So I got my copy of LT+ in the mail today and it's not shrinkwrapped in plastic. Doesn't look used or anything but did anyone else experience this?
  15. Well, I know my copy is guaranteed, regardless of RSD Policies. Reserved mine with the store/guy that created "Record Store Day" so I'm feeling confident. Worked out last year on RSD & the Black Friday RSD.
  16. Thanks for the info, wiiesel! Just ordered a copy from Amazon Germany, too. Or at least I think I did. :-p
  17. Anxious to pick this up now that it's been released. Any insight on the best way to get it here in the States? I grabbed ATS+ from eBay when it came out, and planned on doing the same this time around.
  18. It's listed on the official Record Store Day page @ http://www.recordstoreday.com/CustomPage/620 "Vinyl Reissued on vinyl for the first time in over a decade. Cut for vinyl exclusively for this release at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Includes exclusive 10” EP featuring the bonus tracks “One Step Closer” and “My December,” Featuring exclusive poster. Limited to 3,000 domestic"
  19. I found a CD/DVD version of LIVING THINGS on eBay that comes with a DVD of the Rock in Rio performance. It looks legit, and if it is, I'd definitely prefer they release this as LT+. Not to get off topic but does anyone have any info on the Rock in Rio version of LT? Here's the link to the auction, which has artwork promoting the Rio DVD and a bonus track (What I've Done) http://www.ebay.com/itm/LINKIN-PARK-LIVING...=item4ac22d6dbf
  20. For the people frustrated looking for pre-orders, I wouldn't worry. Like others have said, there's often more availability than just "Limited to 3000" or whatever number the labels throw out. Also, a release like "Hybrid Theory" is likely to have a worldwide buy-it-anywhere-you-want release date a couple months after the RSD exclusive period ends. Either way, I've found RSD releases after the date on Record Store websites. My local store still lists some from last year, for instance. When the date draws closer I'm sure it'll be easier to track down a copy without paying ridiculous eBay prices. From the official Record Store Website: "What: The arresting debut album that came to be known by fans and critics alike as one of The Premiere Albums of The Decade! Originally released on October 24, 2000, the album has sold over 10 million copies in the United States alone, where it has since been certified Diamond. Around the world, the album would also garner Multiple Platinum status in over a dozen countries. Hybrid Theory still stands as a contemporary classic in the world of modern rock and alternative music. The bonus 10" EP contains the tracks "One Step Closer" and "My December". This pressing will also contain long out of print poster and original street team sticker re-productions.Here it is reissued on vinyl for the first time in over a decade and cut by Bernie Grundman Mastering to insure the highest possible audio standard. With: Vinyl Reissued on vinyl for the first time in over a decade. Cut for vinyl exclusively for this release at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Includes exclusive 10" EP featuring the bonus tracks "One Step Closer" and "My December," Featuring exclusive poster. Limited to 3,000 domestic". LINK: http://www.recordstoreday.com/CustomPage/620 I e-mailed my local record store and they are holding a copy for me on 4/20. Also, they will be selling any remaining inventory after Record Store Day on their website at BullMoose.com if that helps anyone out.
  21. eBay, though they will probably be marked up to make a huge profit. You can always ask around here when the date gets closer. Random side note: Record Store Day was started by a local record store, Bull Moose Music. Great place! bullmoose.com
  22. According to a release by Warner yesterday, HT is still on track to be a RSD release with the OSC single too: "Linkin Park — Hybrid Theory (1xLP, 10″ EP, poster and sticker, limited to 3,000) Bonus 10″ EP which contains tracks “One Step Closer” and “My December.” LP reissued on vinyl for the first time in a decade." http://modern-vinyl.com/2013/03/01/warner-...s-rsd-releases/
  23. Glad that holding off on a physical CD purchase will result in a bonus live DVD. I'm finally starting to learn LP's marketing strategy! Surprised they chose this show, but it'll do.
  24. Just pretend they're releasing MTM on colored vinyl and maybe that'll help? I hope this is a sign that LP/Warner plan on releasing everything on affordable and/or special edition wax.
  25. Can't wait to own this! I have ATS & LT on wax. This will make a good addition to the collection, especially being colored vinyl. I hope it turns out to be 180gram, too, since the record is so short. LT looks cool on white but I wish it wasn't so flimsy.
