  1. "The Catalyst" was a waste of $1.29 for me. This will get lost in a sea of replies that say "epic", but the Shinoda/Rubin era is the worst period in Linkin Park's history to date. To me, Linkin Park represent simple rock music. They'll tell anyone who will listen that they should be taken seriously and respected, because, hey, look, we've got Rick Rubin and don't talk about song meanings, but it's all a crock of shit. Power chords, solid drumming, scratching, rapping and screaming are what Linkin Park do best. Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, they should stick to what they know and expand upon it. "Reanimation" made sense. "Meteora" was a logical follow-up. But when I tell people I'm a Linkin Park fan, and a member of the Underground and Street team since the beginning, I shudder at the thought of them accociating LP with the designer clothes fashion shoots, piano remixes, and rap-is-crap attitude the band adopted once Rubin came into the picture. PS: It's not all hate. The second half of the song is amazing, even though it feels unfinished, much like the second half of "Little Things"

    A Reminder

any way we can get 30 day suspensions for anyone who uses the word "EPIC"? ;-)
  3. It's not going to be on iTunes in the US before Tuesday. That's when new music comes out, and they won't change the rules for Linkin Park. Like someone else said, it might hit radio first, but it could be edited and will definitely not be of the same quality was what people receive with the pre-order. It sucks that "before anyone else" is questionable at this point, but they're probably just trying to wait until the last possible minute because of leaks, torrents, and all the other wonderful pirating options the internet provides us with.
  4. if you don't have an iPhone or iPod touch, you couldn't otherwise purchase "Blackbirds" ANYWHERE. Doesn't seem any different than when "No Roads Left" was an iTunes exclusive until the "Tour Edition" of MTM came out. Stop whining for the sake of whining. "Blackbirds" won't be fresh & new to the hardcore fan base but it beats the hell out of the usual "random live track from DSP" routine we've been treated to in singles/albums/LPUs past.
  5. The album is only 45 minutes and they play for 90. I'll deal with 45 minutes of singles if I also get to hear all of the new stuff in one shot. Can't get enough of the "full album tour" trend lately
  6. This method saved me some $$$ when LPU had their year of "funny" songs :-p
  7. I couldn't find it on Verizon's website, but I'm signed up to get text alerts whenever a new LP ringback tone is available. It only gives me the option to purchase (without even hearing it) or unsubscribe from the list. The iTunes preview sounds much more accessible. Thanks Greyskulll!
  8. I got a text message from Verizon today telling me that "The Catalyst" ringback tone is now available. For those unaware, ringback tones are 30 second clips of songs that play when somebody calls you. Verizon Wireless sells them for $1.99 per song, which lets you use the song as a ringback for a year.
  9. Local music stores open at midnight on the night before release date, so I'll have it quicker that way AND pay at least $5 less.

    Puzzle #2

Unless it has to do with a release date or something to watch or listen to, pointless. I never understood the newsworthy-ness of a band announcing a track-list or album title. Not a knock on (the amazing) LP live, but it happens everywhere. Unless it's a covers album, who gives a shit? I mean honestly. Especially when my favorite LP tracks still have their working titles, like Faint and Figure.09 :-p
  11. Kind of surprised that Chaz didn't do Zeppelin, and Weiland isn't doing The Doors (his "Break on Through" cover is amazing), but you can't really go wrong with vocals from either guy. The STP bashing is offensive. Most of you were in diapers when "Core" came out. STP (and that supposedly washed up druggie drunk) stole the show at Weenie Roast this year and have a good new album and killer special on Palladia right now. Where's the beef?! I won't defend Creed or Stapp, though. His best moment in life came when SA from 311 punched him out in '06

    QWERTY

The Summer Sonic version was definitely the best, but I'll take it in any incarnation, so long as they don't make it the next great (boring) piano song. LP's live shows are too stale with all the hits & staples, and adding a 90 second intro/outro doesn't fix things. "QWERTY" would help switch it up!
  13. I predict that by the end of the next touring cycle, the setlists will become 100% generic. By that time, LP will have enough "Greatest Hits" to fill out whole set, and will be ready for their reunion tour. The "we mix it up with 3 DIFFERENT setlists" argument holds no water when they only swap out a couple songs.
  14. LPU is great for the CD, but since LPlive came to be, the LPU is pretty much useless, especially in "trial" form (no CD, no tour, no point.)
  15. At this point the "new" album is "old" news, at least until the band are ready to let us hear it. Musicians are con artists anyways, always claiming the new album is going to sound "completely different", remind you of famous band XYZ, or my favorite lie in rock music: "it's our heaviest yet!" it's a waste of time to wait around for inside scoop on songs you may never hear, especially from Linkin Park, who regularly bullshit us. Not a diss on the guys, but they'd rather goof around or duck a question than give strangers detailed info on their daily lives in the studio. I'd rather hear about what inspires the band, who they'd like to tour with, what songs they love/hate to perform, etc. At least there's only a few more months of "WHEN IS THE ALBUM OUT?!" Then we move onto "WHAT IS ON LPU 10 CD?!"
  16. At this point I want Mike & Chester to quit LP and be a duo. From "Reanimation" onward, nothing any of the other guys have done is on par with Mike's production skills or Chester's vocal ability. I could be way off in saying that, and maybe it really is a team effort, but from Listening to Chaz sing and seeing Mike produced tracks continue to be great, the other four are either amazing at staying under the radar of modesty or riding the coat tails of sucess. Flame on. Blackbirds is great though. Someday LP will bust out a real guitar solo or a slap bass line that will shut me up. Their style works for their sound...I just hope it evolves into a real band of killer musicians like you find in Red Hot Chili Peppers, 311, or even their nu-metal father, Limp Bizkit. (some will cry "Korn!" others can scream "deftones!" but only Bizkit sold a million albums in a week)
  17. Go to the "Apps" section of your iTunes library. Right click on "8 Bit Rebellion" Select "View in Windows Explorer" Right click on the 8 bit rebellion App file (ends in .ipa I think) Select "Open With..." Choose WinZip or WinRar From within either program, extract the music video (it's .m4v) and the MP3's to your PC.
  18. This, this, and this.
  19. I feel pretty much the same, though it's cool to have "Blackbird" and the 8 "8-bit" versions of LP tracks. I actually dig the music video. It reminds me of the mini-documentaries that were released with all of the Beatles remasters a few months ago.
  20. I'm "Sublimeric". Beat the game tonight, but thought the coolest part of the whole experience was seeing random LPL members walking around in the different areas.
  21. EDIT: NEVERMIND! Figured it out Not sure if anyone has asked this, but does anyone know how to rip/convert/open/access the 2 videos on a PC? I don't wan to fuck around with translating LPR for someone else's rip. I know the App itself is an IPA file, but my inner geek is stumped.
  22. 1. "New Divide" - Like "What I've Done", but better. Love the bridge. 2. "Across the Line" - I love the beat. It's LP, but different. 3. "Blackbirds" - Just because Mike is rapping again. Would have been killer with a kickass rock/metal/scream ending, but oh well. 4. "Lockjaw" - Does this even count? I thought it was for a Protools demo? Still cool. 5. "No Alone" - If they ever play this live, it will be labeled "Bathroom Break" on the setlist
  23. How do I beat the final @#$%^ boss? I know to shoot at his tongue, even though I'm too slow for that, but how do you avoid his stupid ass swooping? The game is pretty cool. Saw Hahninator and Adam earlier!
