  1. "Mike, why not save on the cost of DSP's, and just sell a CD at every show titled "Greatest Hits?" A less clever way of asking might be, "Will your setlists always be generic?" (sorry, new intros don't = a rare song played in full).

I support the question about unreleased collaborations, specifically "Head Like A Hole", the NIN cover he did with KoRn (I think?). Hopefully whatever makes the final cut will get a serious, interesting answer. Too many times I've read LPU chat transcripts that ask about the same two things: tour dates (they never know) and musical direction (it always changes).
  3. Tonight was alright, just like every other show they've played since the "MTM" songs got old. My concern with Linkin Park is a futuristic one. I'm anxious to see what their setlist will look like 2 albums (or 10 hits) from now. LP insist on playing every single at every show, and at the current pace, "staples" like POA will eventually be cut. The rotating setlists idea is a small step in the right direction. Rotating singles would be an even better concept.
  4. Why am I surprised that LP, their label, management or whoever decided to double dip 7 months after the original release? I'll be buying the blu-ray, but I'm bummed it doesn't include the CD. All of my LP CD's were stolen a couple of months ago :-/
  5. I'll try to be realistic, though STP are on hiatus and Limp may or may not actually reunite. Limp Bizkit, Stone Temple Pilots, Godsmack, Styles of Beyond, Snoop Dogg
  6. This makes all other mainstream fans just look bad. I'm not a big NIN fan but would be completely overwhelmed and overjoyed if my favorite bands did this. I can definitely see a band like 311 going this route when their contract is up. LP? Not so much. I feel like that would ruin their sacred profitiability and perfectionist ways.
  7. I'm sick of YouTube. The terrible bootlegs. The god-awful acoustic covers. And lest we forget, the anime "remixes". In the rare event that I want to watch a music video, I go to MTVmusic.com. They have everything, and you don't need to go through a dozen fakes or bad quality videos to get what you want.
  8. Camp Freddy is a great concept and I like most of the musicians involved. Definitely would look forward to a DVD, especially if it showcased some of Chester's songs. I like "Whole Lotta Love" most.
  9. Night one is definitely superior, in my opinion. I hope somebody rips the STP set, too. It would be pretty badass if Chester showed up to do "Wonderful" with STP tonight or even with just Weiland on Sunday!
  10. Bummer to see the wave of hate starting to wash away. I still am completely let down by Linkin Park thanks to this CD, and still view it as a slap in the face. I hope that next year, Mike takes a shit in a bucket, records it, releases it as LPU9, and people can worship that, too. The band can do no wrong with some of you, and do no right with others, but this isn't a step in the right direction, or what the majority asked for.
  11. I read about 15 pages of this thread, bitching all the way, until I finally heard a couple of the songs. I still had hope on the way home from work that it wouldn't be so bad. I just listened to "26 letters in the alphabet" and am pretty much fucking enraged at LP. My fault for high expectations, but this sucks. I really hope they let the fans know soon that there's basically a fake CD in the package. The online community is largely upset right now, but there's a lot of LPU members that won't find out until they play this bullshit CD for the first time. Dissapointing. MMM...Cookies = LP are way too big if they can make this crap. I think they need to go bankrupt and start over.
  12. Don't make excuses for the band. "Frat Party" had things like "The Chemist" and backstage jokes, but it also told the story of the band and included all of their music videos at the time. It also was the first of its kind. It would be a different story if there had been 7 DVD's documenting the serious side of the band, and then the 8th was them switching the Deftone's water with vodka. LP did a complete 180, without warning.
  13. The problem I have is that for 7 years, we have been fed steak. On year 8, they changed the menu without warning. To be specific, I was led to believe that LPU is like "extra" LP. Songs that don't make the albums, tracks that are done differently live, and so on. To make a (short) "joke" CD, and market it as "the same ol' LPU" is bullshit. If the LPU main page or Mike's Blog publically announces that the CD is a joke, fine. But there are those expecting - at worst - another live version of a LINKIN PARK song, not a Disney version of Tenacious D. I'm not happy with a comedy album, but can settle and compromise if they at least come clean in the next week.
  14. If they released this through a different medium - ie, FREE on their site - it would have a chance at being funny or clever. However, the problem I have is that this is the 8th Linkin Park Underground CD. There are people, like myself, who renew each year with an expectation of what we will get. To go from the 'Hybrid Theory EP' to this is an insult, and misleading, based on past releases. Unless Linkin Park advertise that it's a joke, it's unethical, and I feel bad for people who don't go to fansites or message boards to get their LP news, and who will just put "LPU" on a Christmas list and be bummed out that their favorite band fucked them over. Of course, it could be fake. But if it's notl, what can we expect next year? A live piano version of "Bubbles"?
  15. It'd be nice if a bunch of angry LPU'ers hit up Mike's blog with some "constructive criticism." Posting here and on LP message boards will likely go unseen.
  16. This is worse than no CD at all. After 7 years, I was actually hoping they would IMPROVE the package, and include either more tracks (like LPU 7) or even a DVD (of LPTV or something). I'd expect the next step to be a price increase, which will fit in nicely with the Meet & Greet cutbacks and "joke" CD.
  17. The 25th is my birthday, and will be celebrated with live music. I plan on heading to the local music shop to pick up both LP and Paramore's DVD's that day.
  18. What a terrible way to promote the DVD. "Leave Out All The Rest" is a great song, but this video honestly makes me drowsy. I still haven't made it through the whole thing. This reminds me of the Projekt Revolution commercials that aired this summer. They started with Chester's scream (from "Given Up") and grabbed/demanded your attention. This, on the other hand, is beyond boring. Understandable that they want to continue the promotion of the single, but c'mon, this is forcing it.
  19. When I think of plaques, I think of achievement and reward, and paying $80 is neither. Unless it looks incredibly cool, ie, Mike's artwork is all over it, it sounds pretty ridiculous to buy yourself a plaque for being in Linkin Park's fan club.
